Elegant pub with bookcases and chandeliers, famous for notorious 1960s criminal/showbiz clientele.
Intimate traditional pub tucked away in a small alley. Lovely atmosphere and friendly bar staff. And they serve one of my favourite gins, Opihr, which unfortunately is not found frequently in London pubs.
Service is amazing and the food is to die for. I was in London for 4 days and went to lots of fancy places like The Ritz and Duck & Waffle, but my meal at The Star Tavern was the best meal I had. Nothing beats simple, well executed, tried and true dishes cooked with love and served with charm and charisma. Easy 5 stars!
The Star Tavern was exceptional! Mike (originally from Bostongreeted My Wife & I so warmly, when we arrived. The service was fantastic, only excelled by the great food, drinks & desert. The atmosphere was perfect for a couple’s quiet dinner. The history of the beautiful restaurant was so interesting, as well. The next time My Wife & I come back to London from Chicago, we will definitely come back to this wonderful restaurant!
Visited for lunch today, and what a good choice! Beautiful location slightly off the beaten track down a lovely cobbled mews street. The staff could not have been more welcoming, in particular the Italian gentleman who took our order. Very knowledgable and had an air of nothing phased him! Fryers were broken so no chips but immediately alternatives were offered. We had 2 of the amazing pies and one gnocchi, which when Dad mentioned he needed bread to mop up to sauce…straight away bread appeared! Very well run place, spotlessly clean and we would definitely return if in the area.
Its an odd place in and among the many embassies, but its a lovely pub. Its not to pricey concerning London prices and I cant think of many that are really cheaper, but the cask ale is excellent. The lager selection was good as well. The bartenders are more than willing to think of something to make sure you too can have a drink based on diet or religion. Cant speak for the food, but it seemed like people enjoyed it. It fills quick as well.
The best pub in London!!!! We came looking for meat pie and found an amazing snitzel as well! The bread pudding was on special this evening was also delectable. There are really good pubs in London but this one is my favorite!
Fantastic memories met my work colleagues from 32 years ago for some peronis wonderful time and great grub
Kinda disappointed, when ordering first they were out off pies. Fish and chips were out aswell, and the two burgers that were on the chalk board we wanted were the old menu also no longer available. So the fourth thing we order was finally a go. The food we got was good, but not a lot of fries and side order salat so small it was gone in two bites and not enough to share
Great hidden gem of a pub that always feels welcoming and cosy, whether I pop in for an afternoon or as a quick pit stop heading home after a day in the city.
Great food, lovely location. Losing a star because they included a service charge as standard in the bill... Which I thought was very poor practice for a pub.
Gorgeous traditional pub in a beautiful area. Food is EXCELLENT and really good welcoming service. Dog friendly. Highly recommended.
A really lovely pub. The staffs are so nice, and it’s a dog-friendly place.I have to say their Sunday roast is probably the best one I have had in London so far. I think the secret is the delicious gravy, you must try it. 🥰
. Myself and wife were on one of our usual breaks in London from Yorkshire and had recently heard about this pub. What we discovered was an oasis of calm in a traditional setting. The host (Michael angelo was so genuinely friendly and made our visit all the better. We had Sunday lunch which was lovely. Having finished our lunch we were told by the host to stay, relax and enjoy our drinks. We thought this kind of service had long disappeared in London. We will definitely return and we cannot rate our experience highly enough.
Perfect small old pub with excellent food (love the roastsand lovely service.
A really great pub with a gorgeous interior! The staff were super friendly , the lager was lovely (fullers frontierand we were both very impressed with the haddock.
Beautiful aesthetic and a place with a story behind it. Great beer and even better service, lovely! Coming back for sure!
Especially library is hidden gem. Traditional and lovely place.
Very very cute pub in a nice little mews. Lovely people work here and the upstairs is a great event space
A great fullers pub.
Easily one of the best pubs in London, tucked away in Belgravia. Very decent prices, especially considering the area, with friendly and always ready-to-help staff and genuinely really delicious and well-presented food.
I booked a table of six for Sunday lunch.. This place is a Gem!! Traditional old pub of which the food was excellent and I mean excellent. The service was also excellent and the staff were very friendly and I cannot fault this place.
Another visit to this lovely pub tucked away in Belgravia. Great food and service.
Havent been for a while but the staff were the same ( always a good signand were as friendly and welcoming as ever. I cant comment on the food but the range of beers was excellent.
Nice cozy pub in the back Mews of Belgravia. Enjoyed the fish nchips and a pint of Guinness. Loved the atmosphere and the friendly staff.
Really enjoyed the atmosphere and the friendly staff. It’s pretty cool to have a pint where the Great Train Robbery was planned!
Lovely pint of ESB and the club sandwich was great to. Dog friendly. The staff looked after us too
Been here twice in the last week; Landlord exceptionally well dressed (it does make all the differenceand pleasant (definitely makes a differencebut ale rather flat. Great historic pub.
Great cozy pub tucked away on a side street. Stopped in several times while we were staying in the area. A good selection of beers and quality fare -- Ill definitely return.
The manager was very kind. Normal prices. Great traditional pub in an outstanding location, Belgravia.
This is the type of English oub people think of. No tv no gambling just good food and draft beer
Booked a table for 7pm today and had a bite to eat and a game of Dominoes. Immediately given a very warm welcome and shown to our table. The drinks were well served with lots of choice. The food was absolutely delicious and the atmosphere and friendliness was perfect. What a wonderful place. Thank you to everyone who served us. Having managed pubs myself for many years previously, I was very impressed with all aspects of our visit.I think weve just found our new local.....
Beautiful traditional pub. Really friendly staff and lovely food. The mustard deserves a mention too, the hottest we’ve ever had, really good to see a chef that cares about serving great pub food! Definitely worth a visit.
Popped in for afternoon drinks and had a small bite to eat. Staff were friendly, service good. The antipasti platter was tasty.
Beautiful old pub tucked away in is mews. Lovely as ever. Great service, warm and comfortable, the only oversight is lack of hophead, now under the Fullers banner.
Just what you want to see when you walk through the doors. A bar with a friendly landlord welcoming you in. Decent selection of real ales as well as newer funky ones on tap. No music, doesnt need it. People talking to each other, board games on a shelf, fireplaces around the edges and a great function room for hire upstairs. Staff are chatty and keep the atmosphere lively.
Very traditional London pub with a rich history. Apparently the great train robbery was planned in the upstairs room here and celebrities hung out in the 60s. Friendly staff, group of regulars chatting around the bar. Nice atmosphere though not busy on a Saturday night. A few board games available.
Went for some pub food and games. Nice clean place. Staff was lovely.
Have been meaning to visit this historic pub for 30 years, now I have and it didnt disappoint. Stooped in history, serving Fullers finest beers and some great food! I will be back.
Popped in here for lunch and wasn’t expecting much….. unbelievable is a word for the food and dessert. The burger and the brownie have blown me away! The price is sensible too for the location. To top it off, Cornish Orchards on draught, what a find. 20 out of 10
Great pub. Tucked away. Friendly service. Great drinks. Food available and music sometimes.
Lovely, cosy little pub, steeped in history, nice beer, good menu, friendly staff, open fire, leather sofa, cosy corners, snuggle snuggle.
Friendly staff, good prices, quick service and great food. Classic style British pub, a breathe of fresh air from the sterile modern alternatives surrounding it.
Good pub in the heart of Belgravia. This is a Fullers Pub and the ales are well kept. The pub is cosy and serves English classics as food. I had the fish and chips and was positively surprised. The fish was fresh and flaky. Mushy peas and chips were good too. I would try the other food options next time.
Nice staff. Good food - the fish and burgers are both good quality. There is a quaint owner-run vibe - they bring the food themselves and check your satisfaction etc.
Lovely pub located in a narrow street. We had lunch here, the burger was delicious (beef was perfectly cooked and grilled, fries tasted and looked fresh and homemadeand the ploughmans was too big for my gf to finish (one comment : the pie is a bit too much). Several craft beers available, place looks old but beautiful, definitely a place we would visit again. And the staff was very kind, helpful and friendly
I visited here for the first time and I have to say this is a really l, really nice pub.The staff are very helpful and knowledgeable when it comes to beer, ales etc.We had to head on so we’re unable to sample the food.By the way the toilets are very clean and warm especially when so many are not heated.
The place is cool and an stuffs too. The food its ok, not special but neither bad! I recommend the pay off the day and the sausage roll! Further I suggest to eat at the first floor because there is a library, a fireplace and also some table games. The medium price is around 20 pounds per person.
Booked a table of 8 (for a family reunion), on a Wednesday night. We had upstairs to ourselves.Good was good, served hot and without being overly ornate. The meal was surprisingly good value, for Belgravia.New favourite pub in London.
Charming pub full of history hidden down a little street in posh Belgravia. Fish n chips were splendid.
The Star Taverns setting is lovely. It also serves the Fullers range in tip-top condition. But to be honest theres not much more to offer. It looks and feels, in general, like many other Fullers pubs. No bad thing, mind you. Two claims are made about this place. Firstly, its been in every one of CAMRAs good pub guides - fair enough. Secondly, that it was where the Great Train Robbery was planned. Even if the second were true it shouldnt really be a selling point.
