Beautiful and historical hotel built in 1909. The history of the Stanley and the owners as well as the supposed haunting of the hotel by former maids and guests etc. make the hotel a destination for all who love ghost stories and of course Stephen Kings book "The Shining". The Shining movie was not filmed here, which was a surprise to me and most. A very young Stephen King was stranded by a snowstorm and ended up at the Stanley with his family and only the groundskeeper and bar tender for company. This is where he got the inspiration for the story we all know as "The Shining". Very pretty grounds, the tour is inexpensive and fun, takes about an hour. Plenty of ghost stories to be told. If you are looking to hang out for the day bring a big wallet as the cheapest glass of wine at the bar is about $18.00. All in all a good way to spend the day if around Estes Park if you want to do something besides shop.

Fun to explore. Friendly staff. Interesting architecture. Great history. Was not able to go last time I was in Estes, due to a private event. Do glad to do this with people who were as fascinated as I was, & our guide was so excited about her job. You could tell she loves the establishment herself. Petite, thin. Pink hair. I believe her name was Kiley. Oct. 17 was her first solo tour as guide & she did fantastic! So enthusiastic.

We like to stay in haunted hotels. We think the walls are too thin, that you can hear people in adjoining rooms and people must mistake that as being haunted. We could hear the lady next door to us coughing unless our bathroom door was shut. We could hear people walking up and down the hallways at night. The Stanley is a nice experience and beautiful hotel. The bed was comfy and the pillows were really comfy. The TV was broken and we couldnt turn the sound down. We couldnt find the volume button on the TV itself. The bathroom shampoo, conditioner, and body soap bottles were empty. The bathroom was nice.

A local that stopped by for a day visit. The area is gorgeous. Even though we were there off of tourist season and on a weekday, it was still packed. Coffee was great! The Gardens were also gorgeous!Overall the staff were extremely friendly and down to earth, seemed like locals as well!I would recommend timing a stay or visit outside of peak hours, however the history and architecture will be in my memory always.I didnt even get haunted once though....

My husband and I stayed here for two nights and it was awful and severely overpriced. I agree with many prior comments that most of the positive reviews are regarding the tours and entertainment value of the hotel not your actual stay. Our room was beyond run down and dirty. Not just old but actually dirty. Stained furniture, trash, and a sock from prior guests are just the tip. The window couldn’t be secured/locked which may have not been a big problem except there was an ash tray and half a glass of lemonade right outside our window, it was clear someone had been hanging out or working there and could have easy access. The restaurant service was incredibly slow and the food over priced. You will be hard pressed to find a friendly or helpful employee. They definitely know most people are there for the novelty and won’t be return customers and they treat you like it. They honestly don’t even try. Over $400 a night and we couldn’t get on one of the many tours that passed our door so many times I couldn’t count. I would recommend visiting but definitely save your money and don’t stay.

If you just plan to come for a quick visit, Id recommend stopping by during the evening when things are much more calmer and less people. The ambience is much more beautiful at night with the lit fireplaces. With less people at night, we were able to enjoy drinks not only at the bar but in front of the fireplace. I suggest you make reservations if you plan to dine at the Cascades. Lots of outdoor space & seating to tour your way around.

Prepaid for a 2 king room. Called a week before confirm 2 king room, all good.We dropped out our luggage around noon as we could not check-in till 4pm. Perfect, we did not have to lug our luggage around. We come back around 5pm and check-in. We sold your room, we can give you a 2 queen room. Um, no we paid for a 2 king room. Well, we can give you a 2 queen room. Um, no we paid for a 2 king, figure it out. They then upgraded us to the Stanley Suite.Wow the suite was awesome. Huge great room/suite.

I have a love/hate relationship with this place. The history is amazing and how well preserved the building are make it a great place to visit. I have stayed here before but wont do that again. The stories of this place being haunted are true! I didnt sleep for the three days I was here. This visit was for my daughter. She wanted to do the ghost tour so we went ahead and sprung for it. Again, great history and fun stories. I also got a photo of something I cant explain. Who knows what it might have been. While I will never stay here again, it is fun to visit for sure!

Great hotel, its really nice. Not too kid friendly .Rooms are great however service is not.If you plan on booking a ghost tour its probably best to book it through the tour desk not the hotel desk. We had booked a tour through the hotel desk days in advance and once we arrived at the tour desk for our scheduled tour at 930pm we were told they had no one there to do that tour. We even had our prepaid tour tickets that had the time and date for the tour printed on them and somehow they did not know that they had this on the schedule. They did refund our money but it was still disappointing. Overall its a nice place. Great views and awesome town. If you book your room at the Aspire at the Stanley its good to know that the pool does not allow kids. Its 18 and up only. The restaurants on site are great but expensive.

I didnt stay in a room, I was just there to look around and go to the gift shop. The grounds and lobby area are simply beautiful. It feels remote from town, but is actually very close. The gift shop is definitely higher end. A simple t-shirt with an image of the hotel was over $30. I felt this was a bit excessive. Still got the shirt, but it hurt. LOL - Overall, save your pennies and go. Im planning a weekend stay in the near future just so I can say Ive slept there. I know it is supposed to be haunted, so Ill keep you posted if I run into any ghosts.

I may need to rewrite this experience when I actually stay at this hotel, but it is a charming hotel. The staff definitely plays on the Hollywood experience and the paranormal. This is, by far, one of the more successful paranormal. If you are interested in film, and spiritual lore, this is the perfect place. There is a lot to engage in. There is a fun whiskey room with lots of bottles for purchase downstairs. This is an adorable little mountain town piece of history. Please do no not forget to drink your water. Altitude sickness is a thing.

The Stanley is in the heart of Estes Park, and has generally been well-maintained for a building that is over 100 years old. The grounds were generally nice, except for the hedge maze which was messy with a lot of missing trees, so it doesnt really give anything like the feel of what youd expect from The Shining. For the price, you might expect a great experience from what used to be a fancy hotel - but its not like that any more. The rooms are OK, and luckily, they had a portable air conditioner in the room for the hot temperatures that are showing in the summers now.

We stayed here for a few days in some of the most haunted rooms, it was an amazing trip and some of the best parts were made possible due to the incredible staff at the Stanley. Chris and Caleb (or as we called them, ‘the ghostbusters’were extremely helpful and showed my group parts of the grounds that we couldn’t find on our own. They answered all of our questions and were very hospitable. We also took a tour of the caretakers cottage during our time here led by Reagan which was a must do for anyone traveling to the Stanley because of its ties to the shining. Reagan was very knowledgeable about the history of the Stanley and helped make the trip memorable. Thank you for a great stay and we will definitely be back!

They Stanley was a great hotel. We stayed there for the haunts obviously but the area is gorgeous too. There is hiking nearby and shopping too. The wine bar is amazing for sitting out and enjoying a glass while enjoying the scenery and the servers are great. Carrie knew her wine and was so nice and friendly. I couldnt decide what to order and she made great suggestions and let me sample them to decide. The whiskey bar was great too. They had so many options for my husband to peruse and I enjoyed my red rum punch. The staff was great on the ghost tour which was really cool and probably the most haunted feeling tour we have taken. If you get a chance to do it they also have a whiskey tasting tour and they let you sample different whiskeys and learn some history on them. My husband isnt a single malt drinker but left enjoying multiple single malts as well as a rye. When he still couldnt decide what to buy the store owner chose one for him to try and he liked it so much he did purchase. Plus there is a cute store greeter dog named Ollie and he is a very good boy. The rooms are historic and smallish but if you want a nice stay in a haunted hotel book it. Its totally worth the money.

The rooms are small and have a loud portable AC unit. For the money you spend, the rooms aren’t worth it. However, the grounds are beautiful and it was a once in a lifetime experience. We went to the magic show one night and that was great. Get in line early as the comfortable seats go fast. I have a bad back and had to sit on a bar stool which made the show painful to sit through. I wouldn’t stay here again for the price we paid. We could have gotten a more comfortable suite somewhere else.

Rooms were kind of hot with no A/C. Other then that we love this place! We have brought lots of family here from out of state for stays and tours. We didnt stay here but did the historic tour. It wasnt a great experience. The tour guide was constantly out of breath and kept stumbling over his own words. Some of the history was interesting but it wasnt a great tour and its super expensive, we expected more. We stopped in the coffee shop and that was a much better experience. The staff there was fantastic and there is a great selection of bakery goodies and drinks.

Stanley hotel has lots of well preserved history of early 1900’s and it’s founders the Stanley brothers. There are lots of tours, shows and exhibits that talk about the history of the area in general. It’s definitely a must visit in Estes Park, CO.What left a lot to be desired is the quality of accommodation. The rooms are quite small. The beds can be noisy, the windows may not fully close. If people are touring or talking outside you will hear them loud and clear. All said definitely worth staying in a place of historic and cultural significance.Edited 8/18 from. 3 stars to 1 starAfter my trip I noticed that I have a $476 charge outside of my stay. I called multiple times and emailed no one helped me identify that charge or provide an explanation for it. If none reverse it.I have to go through my credit card company to get it resolved. Mistakes do happen, but zero customer service is disappointing

Great place to stay. The historic hotel grounds and buildings are well maintained and offer exquisite accommodations. Several restaurants and bars are on site along with whiskey tasting and stage shows in the Underground. We stayed in a Lodge Suite and it was spacious. Enjoyed our time there.

If your looking for customer service this is not where you want to stay. Parking almost impossible, No valet. People roaming the halls day & night. Front desk needs the most help as no one seems to know anything. Front desk never answers their phone. Manager impossible to fin & talk to as four days straight went to front desk asking to speak to a manager left name, room number & cell phone as the rooms do not have a landline. TV was not working for three day. Reservation impossible to get into as we were told by email we could make reservations but when we tried we were told they dont make reservations. We loved the charm of the hotel & history. Our room was very nice and maid service was excellent. We loved the 13 A Seance & the underground Magic Show was excellent. The ghost tour was awful dont waste your time and money. I was hurt on the hotel grounds and asked to file a injury report but told it wasnt necessary that the manager would catch up to me which never happened. We did have a night vision camera and did pick up some orbs on our camera. Highly disappointed with our over all stay and suggest you stay at another hotel and do the shows.

I’m reviewing the tour. We booked online, showed up at our 60+ minute tour, and really enjoyed the experience. It was informative, contained much more than the Shining info (although it contained that, too), and felt like an hour well-spent. Cheers to Natalie, our tour guide. We really enjoyed her and had fun. The building is historic, well-kept and creepy! Gonna keep saving my pennies so I can stay there some day.

The Stanley as a hotel is quite nice. The biggest downside is that its also a tourist attraction so during the day there are many people that are not staying at the hotel or eating at the restaurants just wondering about the grounds and the lobby of the main building, and nothing is stopping them from wondering about the hotel room floors except a sign saying that area is for guests only. The restaurants and coffee shop are rather disappointing. The highlight was the evening ghost tour, our guide was knowledgeable and entertaining.

We didnt stay in the hotel as it was all booked during our vacation in July. We did do the night tour. For those that like "The Shining" or scary ghost paranormal stuff. One hour tour, its preferred to purchase tkts in advance. $30.00 each & no kids under 8 yrs. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable, very talkative & fun. I enjoyed it, wish it was longer . We had drinks at the bar after tour but closes early around 11pm.

First, it should be noted that a large number of these Google reviews seem to be about the tours, NOT full-paying hotel guests, which really should be split out since the $10 tourists dont experience the $400+/night ripoff this hotel actually is.The Stanley is not worth the rates they charge. As mentioned in myriad other reviews (check out actual reviews of the hotel on Trip Advisor), it is nothing but a cash grab from unscrupulous owners. The rooms are in terrible condition. They apparently have not been renovated in ages (even considering the limitations on updates possible within a historic buildingor even properly maintained. You wont be scared by the supposed ghosts, but the dirt, filth, and questionable hygiene "standards" of the hotel are terrifying. That could almost be overlooked IF there were some elements to make up for the lack of decent maintenance, but service was so lacking it was almost painful. The only pleasant staff we encountered were a building engineer and housekeeping staff. The Stanley seems to care far less about paying guests than the throngs of tourists parading throughout not just the hotel grounds, but the hotel itself. It was so overrun with tourists for the ungodly amount of tours offered daily that it was impossible for paying guests to actually enjoy a stay. This negatively impacted everything from parking, enjoying the hotels front porch, eating at the hotel restaurant, and even just getting some tranquility in what should be an idyllic setting. When those paying $10 to park and run rampant are treated as more valued than the guests paying over $400/night, there is a HUGE problem that needs to be addressed.I would not recommend a stay at The Stanley to an enemy, let alone anyone I actually liked.

If you cherish the idea of a stay in an historical hotel with no view to the value and quality received, by all means stay here. If you like the idea of walking through a lobby packed with tourists in a circus like atmosphere, by all means stay here. If you like the idea of having to wait to find your own luggage cart because there is no bell staff then stay here. If you think checking into a room without power, is good, stay here. They were prompt in repairing the power. If any of all of the above might be disturbing, as they were to me, LOOK ELSEWHERE. The room is nice but lots of hotels have nice rooms. What a mistake we made in choosing this hotel. Be warned!

Going into the stanley to spend the weekend I didnt have high expectations since it is a very old/historical site; but my expectations were highly exceeded and we had a wonderful time! We originally were put in the lodge portion of the hotel but we had really wanted to be closer to the haunted rooms since we are big fans of the paranormal, and the staff was very accommodating and got us room 409 instead of the lodge, next to 408, one of their haunted rooms. I was very happy about this! The hotel itself if absolutely beautiful with a great front patio to sit on and have some drinks with a beautiful view of the mountains. We loved that we were able to experience some paranormal activity during the night hours, and the haunted ghost tour was very fun and informative on the history of the hotel. The food and drinks that they have on the property are very worth the price as we thoroughly enjoyed all of our meals we had there. If youre into the spooky/paranormal then this is the place for you! We will definitely be coming back for another stay.

Great hotel with history and character. We stayed in the superior king room, which has updated bathrooms and more space, as well as a great view of the mountains. We enjoyed the ghost tour, which allowed us to see parts of the hotel and learn history we would otherwise not been able to experience.Only complaints were burned out bulbs in the room, which should have been fixed before check in, and a front desk that took forever to answer the phone, as well as an engineer who never showed up to fix our broken phone.Overall though, great experience!

While I cant speak about the rooms or service since this was a vacation self-tour, the buildings and grounds were just down right beautiful. There is a $10 entry/parking fee: completely worth it. From the architecture to the history to the grounds, just absolutely breathtaking. Would seriously consider staying as a guest.

Are you looking for history or ghosts?Nestled in the Rocky Mountains, this little gem is amazing. I am a particular connoisseur of historic and old hotels. This is my second-favorite in this category (beaten only by a certain span in Northwestern Missouriand I have to say I loved it. Well.. 99%.I stayed here in 2010 and booked two rooms on the third floor. Only to find out when we checked in that the place was over-booked and they gave us two suites in the presidential cottage across the main drive. Whilst we were looking to stay in the historic part of the hotel, we did get to enjoy some really nice spa baths and very modern rooms in the cottage.Aside from that, we were thrilled to be here. The views, the close location to downtown Estes Park and its shopping, as well as being on the same stairs and bar that movies shot here. The ghost tour ran during the daytime so we got to attend that before checking in. Mostly the ghost tour was with the guide describing the "goings-on" for the most notable rooms, but also started as historic, giving notion to Stanley and his cars. (Hence why there are cars in the lobby - Stanley Steamers)Staying in the presidential cottage was a treat... very clean, very modern, and of course.... the movie The Shining plays 24/7 on one of the channels in every room, seeing Room 217 played a part in Stephen Kings inspiration for the book. My only wish was that we got to stay in the actual hotel itself as booked.Highly recommended, as well as making sure you arrive early and stay late (or stay TWO nightsto take in all its glory.

Whatever you do dont pay to stay. Its definitely not worth the money. Get an Airbnb go on the ghost tour walk around the hotel but dont stay. They will overcharge you take your money and not give you good customer service. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I wanted to stay here since I was a little girl as a Colorado native Ive looked at it many times. I took my son for his sweet 16 because he wanted to do the ghost tour and walk around the hotel. All we got was horrible customer service, put into a room that was on the floor that was under construction with construction equipment and dirt and dust everywhere. We were charged almost $400 for that room and they charged a $50 incidental fee which was never refunded. We were also looking up at 8:00 in the morning by the cleaning lady for absolutely no reason. 🤦🏼‍♀️ Not Worth the money!! I have still not been refunded or communicate with properly & this was in April 2022!!

This is a review of the Daytime and Nighttime tours of the Stanley! My Daytime tour was awesome! I feel so bad because I cannot remember my tour guides name but she was head of tour guides. The stories and history of the Stanley were so fascinating and our guide told them in such a great way instead of being boring and droning on. She also let me play the piano in the Concert Hall which was totally awesome! (I would love to play just one song on the Steinway they have in the actual hotel, that would be a dream. I promise I wouldnt break it!Super informative tour. The nighttime tour was also good, the guide was still great! No complaints there, but if you did the daytime tour, I wouldnt do the nighttime tour. Yes, you get some ghost stories, but none of them were really frightening and a lot of it was, well we heard stories, or she said, he said, not actual things that we 100% know happened at the Stanley. But still fun. I would still suggest a tour of the hotel a thousand percent! I preferred the Daytime Tour as we still got some spooky stories with it but also all of the history. And the hotel itself is beautiful. Wish I had enough money to even spend one night inside. Haha! (And play that darn Steinway!)

They have renovated the character out of this place. No historic places are accessible unless you pay for a tour, even if you are a guest. The rooms have been “updated” and now just look like any other hotel room. Ours had no pillows, towels, trash can, washcloths, or hair dryer. The front desk had 1 pillow delivered when we called and informed them our room was not ready to be lived in. They also tried to stick us in one of the several outbuildings even when we specifically booked a room in the original hotel.Estes Park is great, but I recommend staying somewhere else. The Stanley Hotel is just a cash grab by the owners.

We stayed at the main hotel for 2 nights last summer in July, second floor (largerroom, and it was so comfortable. There was a large portable AC unit, an armoire, TV and a king-size bed....no complaints. Exploring the grounds was enjoyable, especially the little hidden areas. We did the Historical Tour, not the Ghost Tour, but the history tour had some of the ghost stories in it as well. I liked it because we were able to see other buildings not normally accessible to the public, and also the basement. Any time we needed the front desk, they were pleasant, quick, and helpful. I did notice others in front of us (when there was a linenot being nice to them, and the staff were not rude in return, treating us well when it was our turn. I wish there was a sign that read You are on vacation, lighten up and be happy, but I guess there are miserable people everywhere. The only two things I would have liked were a breakfast cafe (the gift shop doesnt countand the swimming pool being open. We ate at the fine dining restaurant one time, it was too expensive to go more than once; the old-time music and ambience on the patio, as well as the food, were excellent. If you want a five-star hotel with every pampering detail absolutely perfect, stay somewhere modern and cookie-cutter new, instead of this historical and interesting place. I do want to go again, and I would stay at the main hotel. It felt good.

Really hard to rate this hotel. On one hand, it’s were Stephen King conceived the shining, and I feel like that’s a destination that starts at five stars. On the other hand, the condo we rented was not necessarily owned by the Stanley and coming in, the hot tub didn’t work, light switches didn’t work, fireplace didn’t work, Jetted tub didn’t work and worst of all there is a lock that didn’t work that left us unlocked to the public. When I brought these things up, the manager tried to address them. I really feel like he worked hard to address her issues, unfortunately the hot tub wasn’t fixed until the third day when we actually left. The door took about 36 hours to get addressed. The jetted tub wasn’t fixed. The light switch wasn’t fixed. It seemed like the issue is under staffing. So, the staff was helpful and tried to make everything right but I don’t know that they had the staff to do so. I feel like the main reason for staying at this property is not either hot tubs or the fireplaces, so I think I would round up and give them 4 stars out of five. However, this is not a place I would stay for a long time and if you are choosing to stay here at one of the condos, I would definitely check out all of your amenities and ensure that the place you’re staying is intact, as it can take quite some time to get things fixed. Overall, I would probably stay here again And the staff tried to be helpful and it is only 15 to 25 minutes from Rocky Mountain national Park.

The hotel itself is very beautiful and the staff are wonderful. The historic restoration has been well preserved. We also took the tour but it was so short lived and I guess I expected too much. Just sat in a room and listened to someone talk .It seems that I knew more about the history than the guide. But we paid $60 per person for the tour and four a large group that we had I see that some people paid $30 per person. Thats a bit confusing when we were on the same tour.

We are happy we stayed here but probably wouldn’t return. Was definitely a long line to check in. One lady I talked to was not in a good mood. She stood in line, cards didn’t work, and they made her stand in line again. No help with luggage at all. Thank goodness they have an elevator! Was rough to get ice—had to stand in line at the bar. Also, bar isn’t open in the morning so no ice til lunch. I read that lighting was going to be updated. Maybe add a shelf in the shower. No place, besides floor, to put shampoo etc. We were in room 219 so all the tours to see room 217 were out in the hall. Felt like we were interrupting their tours when we stepped out of our room. A lot of tourists for sure! But 219 had a great view!! If you go, try the new Post Chicken and Beer restaurant which is close to the hotel. Good chicken!

I did not stay as a guest, I went for the nighttime tour. While the tour guide was very fun and friendly with good stories, it felt more like a quick tour of the grounds. I understand the guests deserve their privacy so the tour did not go to the upper floors. Good ghost stories, not quite was I was hoping for at $30 plus parking fee. It did make me want to come stay here one day though, hoping for a more paranormal experience.

The Stanley is iconic and historic, no one questions that. The rates are a little pricey for the rooms, given the non-working thermostats, all of the dust and construction, and the noise from the constant tours. We stayed in the main building, but I’d recommend not staying there - stay in the adjacent Lodge perhaps. There were tours going outside our door from before 9am till after 10pm every day… The Whiskey Vault tour is very worthwhile and the breakfast was tasty. The evening ghost tour is hit or miss; it really depends on who you get as your tour guide. I wanted to love it but didn’t. The checkin was quite the process and took longer than expected, so just be prepared for that!

They have wonderful guided tours here. Our guide was Sam, and he did an excellent job! He seemed very knowledgeable about the hotel’s history and was able to answer every question we asked. There wasn’t a single dull moment, and he even showed us some stellar ghost pictures in the basement at the end. Even if you aren’t able to stay at the hotel, I highly recommend taking one of the tours.

We only did the tour. It was okay. The Shining is one of my favorite books and definitely my favorite scary book and favorite Stephen King book, so I may have had my hopes too high. I hope we can get a room here next time we visit. The main hotel was booked months before we visited, so we werent able to get a room. We enjoyed the tour and would recommend it

We didnt actually stay at the Stanley, but we did visit it frequently! We also got to do the night Ghost tour, and it was AWESOME!Our Tour guide Nicole was the absolute best. She described everything in impeccable detail, was extremely knowledgeable, hilarious, and friendly! She also showed us so many pictures of what other parties had taken pictures of during the tour guides. They encourage you to take pictures, just no audio or video recording! We also ate at the restaurant in the main building and it was delicious!I recommend their Bloody Mary!

The Stanley Hotel! The inspiration for the movie The Shining and the actual setting for the mini series The Shining and Dumb and Dumber. I loved it! Stayed here with family in February and I took the tour. I liked it so much Id work here. It just has this feeling about it. I love spooky places, but this just felt like me. I didnt see any ghosts. The rooms were cozy. I liked the set up. You just have to experience it for yourself, although Jim Carey said he would never come here again, hes literally a joke! He wont say why, but who cares? Try it once! I bet you wont be disappointed.

Ive never actually stayed in a room here but I love to visit. Good food and service in all of the restaurants and shops plus theres always at least ten elk out on the grounds. Ive done the ghosts and history tour three times now. Tour guides are talented and knowledgeable and you learn something new every time. Im sure Ill come back again and hopefully someday stay in one of the haunted rooms.

The hotel is completely under construction right now. No mention of it on the website or when booking. Our floor was a construction zone. Drywall dust, cardboard covering all floors, construction supplies and the workers everywhere. Was 100% not the experience I expected for $350 and no amenities. Even the cigar room on the ghost tour was closed and filled to the ceiling with construction stuff. Would not stay here at this time if you want a good experience. I understand that need to make money throughout construction but they could warned us, lowered price and at lease had coffee in the lobby.I do give 5 stars to the Ghost Tour host Elizabeth and to the female bar tendered at the hotel bar.

We live in Colorado but my daughter loves anything paranormal. So we decided to take the ghost tour. Our guide was Elizabeth. She was absolutely amazing. She had many stories. We would have loved to spend the night but rooms start at 319.00 a night. I recommend taking both tours. The historic and ghost tour. We had a blast!!

The Stanley is currently in the midst of massive construction. We booked a room online where there was absolutely no warning of this. Upon arrival we were placed in a room that was literally in the middle of a construction zone, complete with a 10+ person crew wearing hard hats and doing work outside of our door. There were construction debris and hazards everywhere we turned including: supplies left out overnight all along the hallways, sheetrock dust, cords that were a tripping hazard, broken windows, and 2x4s haphazardly placed around the hallways. We were shocked that rooms on this floor were even being given out as this was clearly not a safe space for guests to stay.We shared our concerns with management and they confirmed they are giving out rooms on this floor with no warning to guests. We paid $350 for a room in the middle of a construction zone. We asked management for a comped room another night and were told the best they could do was a 25% off discount on our stay.I love the Stanley and have stayed before, but this visit was simply unacceptable. I’m 38 weeks pregnant and this stay was meant to be relaxing and enjoyable. It was neither due to the construction and hazards all around us. I would not recommend staying here as it’s clear the hotel management does not care about the safety or experience of their customers at this time.

My time at the Stanley Hotel was short, but memorable. The historical value of the building is undeniable and its beauty still holds up to this day. The lobby, the bar and every other nuance creates an old fashioned atmosphere that must be savored. The only negatives I had were the lack hot water in the showers ( though it is an older buildingand the general construction on the hotel during our stay (though I dont fault them for it). Its definitely worth staying here a day or two or just coming to visit on a day trip.
