The Stables Cafe Est 1889 - Cafe in Bairnsdale, Australia
Must have been a bad morning in the kitchen when poached eggs come out hard boiled. I was really disappointed that for a $19 breakfast I could not enjoy it and wasted food in the process, or should I say paid for food that was not prepared right and palmed off rather than corrected in the kitchen. Staff didnt ask if the meals were ok even though I had left half nor did they ask on paying. Pretty average
Great service, friendly staff and food was fresh and delicious. Lots of character in the building. A great all rounder place to eat.
Great food and dog friendly.
I stopped here for brunch. The staff were friendly and attentive. I had a good coffee and also ordered the shashuka. Shashuka was ok, it was more reminiscent of fried eggs in a spiced sauce than poached eggs. While the sauce was very flavorful, I wasnt expecting the eggs to be what I received.
Best cafe in East Gippsland.
food was simple but delicious
Had a magnificent morning tea. They looked after the dog, Roger as well.1 uear on and we went back for our 61st wedding anniversary. Thankyou all for the great food and the surprise flowers
Food was amazing and staff provided great service
Best breakfast! Highly highly recommend
Best coffee and cafe food in the area by far!
Nice little coffee shop/eatery tucked away off the main street. Staff were very pleasant and the service was excellent. The food was tasty and hot. I ordered the Eggs Benedict and added fried mushrooms, chorizo sausage and tomatoes. It was really nice. Washed it down with a nice Chai Latte which was one of the best Ive had in a long while. It all cost around $40 which I thought was reasonable.
Fantastic service, good recommendation from staff.
Seems pricey at first but meals are well worth it and service was excellent today
Wow, this place is fabulous. Amazing coffee (and we’re from Melbourne). Scones and carrot cake were absolutely delicious - served with good old fashioned cream and jam. Will stop here again definitely to try their other food!
Slow service, not very friendly place. No atmosphere boring.
Best Coffee in Bairnsdale. Wonderful food. Lovely staff. Super cool rustic feel. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
Enjoyable brunch. Had the Flora and Fungo with eggs. Chilli Jam was the hero. Good tea also. Yarra Valley. TEA. Will take some sweets home. Recommended. Fast attentive service. Post notes. Sweets were great and I bought some jams to take home.
Great breakfast. Fast service and nice teas.
Great lunch. Great service. Great surroundings
great food & coffee, a little pushy/pressured to order.
If you want an exceptional cooked breakfast in Bairnsdale THIS is the place. Small menu with diverse ways of serving what truly were the perfect poached eggs (local ForgeCreek free-range). The in-house made gluten-free bread tahini toast is just magnificent.
Good coffee and the chilli scrambled eggs was tasty and a decent sized serve
Friendly and efficient. Loved the higher level of spiciness of the Chilli Scrambled Eggs
Great coffee and lovely light breakfast..... would recommend.
Food is imaginative and beautifully cooked & presented. Coffee made exactly to order. Staff attentive, friendly without being obtrusive. Delightful find, off the main drag of Bairnsdale.
Outstanding food and coffee. Pulled pork eggs Benedict was excellent.
The eggs Benny with pulled pork was one of the best breakfasts Ive ever eaten! Absolutely delicious.
Let my photos do the talking! I came here for breakfast and found it hard to choose what to have. I was served a cappuccino, perfect by the way, and finally rested my mind on corn and zucchini fritters with asparagus and poached eggs. Oh well, I thought, why not add haloumi? And so it happened. A wonderful surprise in the heart of Bairnsdale.
Got breakfast here and it was delicious. Tried the raspberry cheesecake french toast and the corn & zucchini fritters. Flavours and presentation of meals excellent. Nice outdoor dining space. Coffee was a bit weak. Good COVID safe practices.
Gorgeous day sitting outside. The staff were quick and friendly and the food was some of the tastiest I have ever had for breakfast. Highly recommend you dont miss this place when your in bairnsdale. 👍👍👍
The coffee is pretty good, and the Barista does a really good job, I got an espresso and a latte.Espresso was well extracted, it was sweet and tangy, not too sharp, had some body to it too.The latte was nice, the milk was steamed well, it wasnt too hot, and texture was really nice.Came here for lunch too, the wait staff and chef were nice enough to figure out if the meat was halal or not (its from the local butcher, so not halal, I still appreciate them finding out).4 instead of 5 because I feel there could be more vegetarian options in the lunch menu (4.9 rating from me though).Otherwise, great service, and great coffee!
Amazing food, super friendly service and awesome country setting. Love this place.
Very friendly staff, always seem to remember my order aswell which is always great. Very well made coffee always a great temperature and not bitter at all. Makes my mornings so much better
Good attention, served water to our table immediately without us asking.Very nice coffee and yummy slices. We sat outside for a small work meeting and had plenty of room around us to hold a confidential conversation. Will go there again.
Great coffees and service. Nice food and atmosphere.
cool cafe, great coffee and menu. lots of space out front for the doggos.
Welcoming staff. A good place for coffee or a meal. Plenty of choices on the menu including a gnocchi with pumpkin and almonds. A good find when passing through Bairnsdale. Would definitely visit again.
Great service with good food, I had the cheese burger which was just a perfect balance between the pickle, cheese and Pattie and my daughter had eggs that were perfectly(and I mean perfectpoached.Would highly recommend.
Chilli scramble, yumo and great customer service
Bit noisy, the music too loud and lots of loud talking/yelling coming from the kitchen. Waitress a bit snobby. Food ok, I just had a salad for lunch and the red carrots were almost impossible to chew, but it was tasty. Coffee very good.
Great food, friendly and fast service
Great service, this was the Zucchini Fritters - yum and at a great price too! Coffee good and hot. Great place to spend the morning working in Bairnsdale. Only teeny negative is no wifi for customers. Otherwise great place though.
Brought out abottle of water to have while we waited. Coffee and cream to follow. Served straight away, and not long to wait for order. Nice ambience as well inside and outside seating with shade.
New owners are great, friendly and welcoming.Coffee pretty good (always need to ask for an extra shot though). Great for breakfast, pretty good for lunch - although there seems to be less on that part of the menu that appeals (to me).Outside area nice on a sunny morning.
We regularly go to The Stables. Great coffee and a yummy fresh menu. You can tell the chef really cares about the food coming out. The place has a great atmosphere and theres also lots of space outside too. Staff are attentive and friendly. Last week we sat outside with our little doggo and the owner gave him delicious treats from The Doggie Den 🐶❤
Coffee on point, cakes awesome, staff super nice, what takes it to the next level is the food! The Cuban and the Ruben would have cues at the door should they be in Melbourne! The cauliflower salad it’s also up there
The new owners have transformed the menu and have a fab coffee - you can tell they really care. I have been a few times now and everything has been superb and delicious. Definitely my new fave in a Bairnsdale and I love that they are bringing new life to this heritage stable space and making their own.
Yummo! Green veges with persian feta.....have to add a poached egg but well worth it! Staff are great and super accommodating!
The food and atmosphere were pretty good. My salmon was well cooked, though The plate could’ve done with some more veges/carbs on the side though. My friend said the lamb dish was delicious but a bit pricey at $33.
Atmosphere is great and staff are really friendly however, the food was really disappointing. I had eggs Benedict and there was way too much hollandaise sauce that is was quite rich and 3 eggs was too much, plus my muffins were undercooked. My husband had scrambled eggs on toast with bacon and his eggs had a really funny taste to them to the point that he actually didnt eat them. We really love what has been done to this venue since its been reopened but we probably wont be back for breakfast in a hurry.
