Its a pub. Everyone wears black. And while its an institution amongst a certain crowd the food has really taken a dive... But hey who eats at a pub where everyone else is just drinking. Bad food aside Ill be back

Food is some of the best in London atm. Definitely recommend going early as it gets very busy and can be hard to find a table. Staff also very grumpy

The chef here is top notch. We ordered the fried fish, tomato salad, baby gem salad and the burger. Everything was absolutely delicious - I’d highly recommend trying the burger it was the best we’ve ever had in London/England. The menu is always changing and is super creative. We’ll be back! (The only let down is the crowd in the pub and staff which make it seem like a chore to serve you)

Positives: The food. The burger was amazing.Negatives: insanely busy with a LOT of very young people. The place needs a makeover. There were holes in the ground. The tables are wobbly. The paint is flaking off furniture outside. Staff act like you are being a pain when ordering.A VERY young crowd here

A great locals pub with bare floorboards, a big, central bar, tables inside and out, and some excellent food. Definitely one to return to!

Great drinking den with “vibe” until kitchen is sorted and food delivery is encouraged, so we can enjoy the pub and grub.Kitchen hasn’t been sorted for a while now (2019! Otherwise, just a pub with no food. And owners have said to go elsewhere … so we are!!End of an era I’m afraid!

Probably needs an update on the review. No one in the Sunday visited, poor attitude fromthe barman when asked about beers available. 6 of the 8 were not available. No cask ale. Sad to see as great location and charming place if someone put some effort.

Good pub with great atmosphere. Gets very busy, but the back garden helps spread things out. Finding a table can be a challenge, and bar staff can be a little cold & business driven, but its a great watering hole for locals and has a feel good vibe.

Service with an attitude - Poor service from the start and didn’t improve. Bar staff just held out the payment device and left me to pay and walk off, all the time while chatting to his colleague. He could not even bother to say the price (£11.60 for two Amstelsor even manage a thank you. These are just the bar minimum of customer service I would like. A smile would definitely have been pushing it.Recently the reviews for this place are heading in the wrong direction - and it’sthe opposite to the prices!

Decent (enoughlocal pub. The garden is the highlight with plenty of seating for those summer evenings, and few tables out front. Service was fast & friendly. But dont let the back street vibes fool you, its just as spenny as everywhere else in the area.

Stopped here for a sharpener before meeting some friends. Never have I been met with greater indifference and casual hostility in a pub. 2 pints cost £15 including a service charge which was absolutely farcical. Perhaps its a place to be seen in or perhaps it is for people cooler than I am but on a general decency level this kind of thing is unacceptable.Try treating customers with kindness and decorum. Even if youre edgier than a set square outside of work. 👍

The pub looks nice and all that. But the beer prices are out of control. How about paying 7.40 pounds for a pint of neckoil... that’s a weak mass produced session ale brewed up the road. Go to any other pub in the area and pay 5.50 for the same beer. Feels like they are trying to take advantage of clueless customers, which isn’t very nice.

Great ale, great food, great location. Outside seating area within a walled enclosure so no blowing gusts if wind.Does appear to be the trendy set drinking there on my visit.Well worth a visit.

Bursting at the seams with potential this lovely pub almost intentionally goes out of its way to disappoint. Overflowing with only the most gentrified crowd of hipsters that East London can provide, this pub seems to fetishise mediocracy. The scene (at a drinking establishmentis to cool to be concerned with basics, be that drinking: if you’re looking for a beer, it’s Moretti or bust in this nouveau riche version of Oga’s Cantina & don’t you dare ask for a packet of crisps or peanuts. The eye-rolling could last days. A prerequisite to make the cut as one of the waitstaff here is that you must appear at all times aloof, indifferent to your clientele & resemble an extra in a Rick Astley music video. The heady mix of a pub trying too hard to be anything but a simple, classic pub, results in an unsurprising stale and tasteless aftertaste. Come for the beer garden, don’t stay for the welcoming service or pub experience.

Beautiful beer garden and pub but I was put off at the price of a sausage roll that I ordered which was £4.50. standard enough price but it was a tiny slice. Beers were a tad overpriced too but I think thats just the area. Would recommend a visit but stick to the main Menu.

I really like this pub. There is a lot of space and a off the toad smoking area. The pizzas they do are super. The door staff also seem to be very nice. It is big enough not to feel totally over blown when crowded. Worth having a pint in if you are local and want a pizza.

The main reason I disliked it was the ear shattering music, couldn’t talk between our group of five people. Then the bar staff seemed more interested in socialising with there friends over the bar than actually serving customers.I love a good pub and a dance but this was neither for me. Atmosphere wasn’t very nice and overall very disappointing! This is also not just based on one experience of this as I’m a local and an all for second chances.I must point out these where on Friday and sat nights.

I want to give this place 5 stars because I have special memories, but it just lacks atmosphere big time. The tables at the front suffer from constant coming and going from the front door and people pushing past. The menu is good - especially the wine list.

I came down for a meeting all the way from Bristol with my well behaved 18 month old child and they basically told me to leave...on a cold February evening, with a hungry toddler. They should state on their website the policy of no small people after 7pm, not fair.

Yet to properly benchtest this place and in reality only sipped on a glass of tap water during my 1 hour visit on one of those slow Sunday afternoons but I wanted to leave a review to clear something up. Its a good pub. It could easily be mistaken for one of those gastro-hell-no outfits knocking out posh mac n cheeses and other modern takes on the classics but this place is somewhat more humble than that. Yes its decked out in a modern pub vernacular with curious artifacts adorning window sills and bar ends but the difference is someone with at least a BTEC in interior design from city and Islington college has placed them there. The barmen were all delectably handsome seemingly at the expense of efficiency but I guess at least it gives you more time to gaze into their eyes whilst they try and manoeuvre a beer pump. Probs best to stick to the wines and unless youre on garden leave dont even bother looking at the cocktail list. If they sorted out the chairs, (a note to all modern pubsand knocked about 5£ off the price of their burger offering it would be a very fine steed indeed

The Spurstowe Arms is a memorable London public house with a convivial garden out the back and solid bar staff. Never feels like you’re waiting at the bar too long. The menu is excellent so try to get a table early in the evening before they’re snapped up. Once you get yourself a seat it can be the coziest of pubs to tell your friends your wildest hopes and dreams, or impress a date with your taste in pubs.

We came here on a really busy Friday night and the atmosphere was great. Some guy at the bar threw a whole lemon at our table which sent mine and someone else’s (newdrinks flying and covered half of us in booze. We were drenched my phone on the table everything. We went over to the guy who threw it who refused to apologise and said it was just a game (he didn’t look 12 years old but apparently he wasin the end his friend who worked behind the bar replaced our drinks and expected that to be the end of it which it would have been if one of my friends hadn’t seen him come and stand behind us laughing and joking about it. My friend pointed out he was beyond being rude now- he said ‘you’ve got your drinks what else do you want’ and pushed my friend. It promptly became something of a brawl and of course the bar staff who were friends with this grade A moron, threw us out. Perhaps knowing he had them on his side was encouraging his pathetic behaviour? We certainly won’t be back

Nice pub with outside space which is always a bonus. Food is good, staff very friendly and centrally located. Its got a distinct neighborhood feel to it which in a big metropolis is good, in my opinion. Slightly scruffy but all good nevertheless.

Great pub and good (hackney standardbeer selection. Especially good for groups of 4-6 if you can get a table to the front or Wilton Way side. Charming enough beer garden for summer which utilises the grandiosity of the buildings reverse to good effect. Staff a bit too cool but they probably are.

Staff are friendly and attentive. The garden area (at the backcould be so much more than it is. Broken bench, rusted small chairs and small tables BUT the greenery is lovely and the whole feel, despite the obvious need for modernisation, is very cosy and a good place to have a drink with friends. Not ideal for a first date but could easily become your local due to welcoming atmosphere.

Spacious pub with some beautiful coloured glass windows at the back and a small garden and a friendly atmosphere but a very average beer selection. Its an airy pub - that can translate into being quite chilly. They do a mean sausage role. Nice space.

A lovely pub mainly filled with E8 locals. Nice little pub garden, fantastic food and friendly, warm staff - the guy that served me arranged for the chef to give us guacamole with our nachos, even though it didnt come with guacamole on the menu.

From the outside this may look like the average old mans local pub, though you might find the occasional local old man during the day. In the inside its very much gastro-y, with a great food menu and fine selection of beers on tap. On a Friday night, every E8er seem to cram themselves into the bar. It has friendly staff and is very popular with the local creative. There are also the easy-on-the-eye regulars ;)Recommend: Sunny day, get there early and find a spot in the beer garden and dont move or nominate a drinks runner

Really great local with large, spacious room, sunny beer garden, interesting drinks (cheap, too, for this part of town - £4.20 for a glass of roseand especially amazing food. We went for a Sunday roast, and my friends roast pork belly, dished up with roast pots (the only let down), tenderstem broccoli and red cabbage was a real treat. I had the grilled chicken salad, served up with avocado, pine nuts, baby tomatoes - yum. The bread baskets from E5, all the meat was delicious and I will definitely be back. Even the bar staff were lovely and friendly (not always guaranteed in this hipster part of town).

There’s nothing wrong with Spurstowe Arms and if it was my local then I wouldn’t complain. It was quietly busy on a Wednesday evening, the decor isn’t overly Hackneyish and it was full of very attractive people. And they do an excellent line in sharing platters (the fish one was especially good). The staff could be a bit friendlier though, but that’s my only complaint. I wouldn’t go out of my way for this pub, but Wilton Way seems short on drinking holes so it’s not a bad choice (even if it is your only one).
