The Spotted Horse Tavern has retained its magic during these difficult times for restaurants. The food is excellent and the service impeccable.

We got there on a busy Saturday night. They dont have a parking lot but there seems to be plenty of public parking. They still have indoor and outdoor dining options. We had a large party but were luckily seated very quickly. However the rest of the service was delayed. Dining with kids is tough but when they are hungry its so much harder. We ordered the Mac and cheese and flat bread pizza for the kids. The Mac and cheese was untouched but they enjoyed the pizza. I got the Moscow mule and it was mottled with blueberries and other fruit. It was a strong drink. I got the Truffle vegetarian burger. I really liked the cheese but the flavor of the Truffle and egg were lost. It was also very messy. The fries were extra salty but the sweet potato fries were very good. The regular vegetarian burger was a 3, but being made in house is nice. The rigatoni pasta was a hit. I didnt try it since the kids loved it. They food is a little pricey but the service could have been better. They could have brought the kids meals out earlier. We were almost there for 3 hours so we didnt want to stay any longer for dessert. The burrata was great and the brucheta was phenomenal.

My wife, a friend and I had a really good lunch at the Spotted Horse in Westport. On the table we had tuna tacos, a Cobb Salad and a burger and all were devoured happily.The location and weather were great, the service was very good and the prices were reasonable.This was our first time there, so if theres a repeat performance well add a star.

Food is wonderful but the service is non existent. We were here early and there were only about 4 tables. The waiter never came back to our table after delivering our food. We actually had to go up to the bar to get more wine. The bartender, Steve was great!

If a friend/relative is visiting this is always my first pick. Great food, amazing atmosphere, lots of options. Can’t go wrong

One of the worst experiences I’ve had eating out in every single way from top to bottom. Others were disgruntled too everywhere I turned my head. Food is disgusting, waiter was awful (and there were PLENTY milling around), atmosphere is terrible. You’ll wait 1.5 - 2 plus hours to get your food and everything will be wrong and forgotten. Waiter picks his nose… I don’t want to rant too much. Just don’t go. I have experience owning and managing restaurants too so I feel bad doing this and am very patient and understanding. This place is as bad as it gets. I went about a month ago and the whole experience still doesn’t sit well with me. We still talk about how comically bad the place is… Feels like everything BUT a tavern on top of it. I felt like I was at a cheesy Euro disco with awful food.

One of our favorite Westport restaurants. Always great food, drinks and great service. Also like that they have so much outdoor seating.

Food was very good and reasonable, very attentive staff.

Drinks are great, food is mediocre at best.We ordered the Chinese chicken salad (taste and quality of a Panera saladand the truffle burger. Hardly any truffle flavor — only in the sautéed onions. The burger patty itself was kind of gross to be completely honest. Just straight ground beef, no flavor at all to the meat.Too many other good options in Westport. Don’t go here.

Food took forever to come out, drinks never got refilled and was only offered a refill once I got the check and multiple tables who came in after us got their food before us and we only got burgers which shouldn’t take long

Smelled musty and old. Dark and tired. Not tasty food but unappealing bar food.

The food is good, large variety, however they dont have many GF options aside from a salad or taco. Drinks are tasty, definitely recommend the roe and co whiskey.

Love spotted horse in shelton, my favorite restaurant… however Westport hardly puts any salon at all on their wraps. I was basically eating bread and veggies…

Loved stopping by the Spotted Horse Tavern while shopping in town for the day. We shared Brussel sprouts, meatball egg rolls, & fried calamari.The patio was lovely, staff was friendly, professional, & attentive. The wine list was wonderful. We had a rose and a pinot Grigio.We would definitely return for lunch and sometime would love to try dinner. Their menu options were vast and looked delicious. Everyone in the restaurant young & mature were raving!

Too bad the service is terrible and they can’t keep up with the crowd. Waited over an hour for our food today and it’s been this way the past two times we’ve been here. Either hire more people or seat less tables. Ridiculous. Never coming here again. Not worth it.

Good experience! Food is good and portion is big. Price is fair.Menu has several classic American options.Usually crowded on weekends specially if you want to seat outside. Try to make a reservation beforehand.Service is also good, waiters explain all in details and are available to answer any questions.

My cousins go here frequently (once every 2-3 weeksand recommended it. Went here for lunch on a Saturday dressed informally and asked for a table for one outside. Was put on a wait list and gave my number to be called, and went next door to get a snack in the meantime. No call ever came and when I went back and asked why they didn’t call, they said they couldn’t adequately explain why. I suspect I didn’t fit their customer look given I was in shorts and a college shirt.Can’t trust a restaurant that fails to act as they commit - particularly when a family of frequent customers is involved and someone shows up to give them $ on recommendation. Upon reading some of the other reviews, it seems rudeness and incompetence may be a recurring problem with staff turnover. Thumbs down!

First time here and I have no complaints. We sat in the bar and the bartender came to our table promptly and took our orders. Food came out after a normal wait and was plated nicely.I had the Braised Short Ribs over cauliflower mash and thoroughly enjoyed it. It wasnt too heavy but do wish it had a little emote veggies. The taste was spot on.Only complaint was from my friends who ordered double cocktails and felt the alcohol was lacking.Other than that we had a great time and food was good. Would definitely check out again without hesitation.

One of the best meals I’ve had in a while. Had to jump on the wait lost for a busy Saturday afternoon. Was seated and Constance was our waitress. She has such a great personality, and good energy. When she came up to the table it was almost like we were her girlfriends having dinner at her place. We ordered the sangria which she mentioned that she makes with a peach purée and it was excellent! We ordered the Mediterranean salad with shrimp which was so good! The variety in the salad is what I love to see on my plate. We also ordered the spaghetti squash pasta which was so rich in flavor it was hard to miss the protein or actual pasta in this dish. It didn’t need any of that! We also ordered the fried calamari. I am a dipper and I appreciated the three sauce variety. The calamari was also pretty large and was so good. The atmosphere was nice, very casual, very clean and all of the staff was very friendly. But not overly friendly in a commercial way. It was a really great meal and we can’t wait to come back!

My daughter Pam and I wanted to try a newrestaurant in Westport as I’ve eaten in a few there but never at the Spotted Horse! It sure was a surprise as the food was really delicious ! I had the best Chicken Caprese sandwich ! I love ❤️ ice tea and that also was wonderful ! Pam ordered a cheeseburger which she ate the whole thing because it was too good to leave behind ! We also had the most wonderful and friendly waitress called Ana ! I would highly recommend this restaurant because I’ve been eating in a lot of them and can judge a good one just by the food ! I ate here a couple of weeks ago and while I enjoyed the food, I cannot stress enough how good of a waitress Jenna was. She was very friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu.

Went for a family meal and it was great. Pretzels to start that came with beer cheese and mustard. My partner and I split the blackened fish tacos and Mediterranean salad which were both solid.

Always the best place to have dinner with your family or group of friends. The food is amazing the chef definitely is 5⭐

Whoever answered the phone wasnt helpful. The waiter got the order wrong. The server didnt know what he was serving and said it was something it wasnt. Took a while before they got it right. I get theyre busy and this happens but they should communicate with the customer that they understand what is wrong and theyre trying to fix it. The food is great but not a 5 star experience.

The place was packed but we were told we could find a seat in the bar where we stood and waited we saw no one else standing in the bar waiting for a seat. A man and his son turned to me and said were leaving so my friend and I were getting ready to sit down when a woman came out of nowhere and said that they have been waiting for 30 minutes in the bar. She never moved from where she was so clearly she just made an assumption that the next available seat was hers. Talked to the staff about it but they were scrambling around and nobody knew what to say or what to do. It was chaotic and not worth the wait. Swiftly left and dont plan on returning.

This should be a 2 star review but I don’t like to leave bad “star rating” reviews based off one bad experience. Maybe they just had a bad day. Anyway, these are my comments on our experience.Went here for brunch on Sunday because a friend recommended. Our waiter was very friendly and recommended “The Remedy Skillet” corned beef hash, biscuits, poached eggs with hollandaise. My girlfriend outdated the Chinese chicken salad. They were very busy so understandably, our food took a while to come. After some time they came to our table to explain that they were out of corned beef hash and I would need to order something else. I ordered the eggs Benedict. My eggs were dry and cooked through, barely any hollandaise sauce and hash browns soaked in oil. The salad had little to no dressing and the lettuce had that mushy forgotten-in-the-fridge taste.Waitstaff was very friendly. It wasn’t overly priced, which was good at least, but I wouldn’t go back.

Nice menu but my Ahi bowl needed more seasoning/salt. My wife had the ahi tacos and I mixed in some of her pineapple salsa with a squeeze of lime from my cocktail and it was much better. A soy/sesame based dressing on the fish would have made it perfect.

The atmosphere is pretty cool. Different. Our food was delish. Our server was really friendly and attentive. Looking forward to going when they have live music. Great place to go with your friends or the fam.

Beautiful place with even better ambiance.Service was quick and friendly.Calamary were fried but with good breaded covering, not excessive as some other places.The main dishes were various and all of them we enjoyed big time.chicken and waffles, salmon wrap, farm burger and bruschetta, perfect lunch.Will be back.

Eating outside was both enjoyable and safe. Our service was excellent and server professional. The food was a “C”. Just average. Burger overcooked, chicken also dry. My fish tacos were the best of our 3 entrees.

Oh beautiful shore line of ct... The lovely sites of shoreline and historic homes. The spotted horse is one of those old homes from the 1800s turned into a restaurant. As you know as much as I love today trends... I love history. So fine an 1800s home turned into a restaurant is my thing. Friendly staff. Covid precautions and procedures in place as well. I sat outside on the covered porch.. Online menu. Unless you couldnt get it to work. They provided a physical one. I ended up with a seltzer water, corn and chicken tacos. About 4 choices for sides I chose sweet potato fries. Every thing was great. The table next to me was great group of people and it was great afternoon with now new friends... Just gotta love places where staff and others are friendly and friendships are made.

Food is good, flavors are decently different and a good variety of food. The atmosphere is nice as well, little candles at the tables and live music was there- although it would have been nice to see it, we were blocked by the wall. 3 stars because honestly, the service isn’t that amazing, our server was definitely nice but maybe just short staffed?

Inviting atmosphere with the fireplace.I was disappointed in our waiter. He was not attentive, and a bit put out when we asked about the coke not tasting good. The food was good but not exceptional.After not eating out in a very long time time this overall experience was very disappointing. Not likely to return.

Lovely people and great setting for lunch. Their attention to cleanliness and health restrictions was also top notch. Both the vegetarian options and food for carnivores was delicious, and if I return I will certainly be trying their chicken and waffles. If youre in Westport, check out the Spotted Horse Tavern.

Great spot for casual but delicious food and drinks. The seating outside was covid 19 precaution appropriate. The service was excellent and the prices were reasonable. The appetizers were very creative and the variety of choices satisfied everyone at our table. We were pleasantly surprised that the porch seating had heaters ,as the evening was cool, but we were all kept comfortable with the heat. A great choice to meet for a good meal and a comfy atmosphere.

I was delighted that they had outdoor seating in the closed off street, and the food and quiet outdoor atmosphere was incredible on a lovely Sunday evening.They dont take reservations....Im not certain if that is just due to covid, or if their regular policy. It is worth the trip. They quickly accommodated my party of 7by putting tables together quickly. I must say, the food did not authorize disappoint!The pretzel appetizer was fabulous!The salmon dish was amazing, crispy on the outside, yet soft and moist on the inside, cooked to perfection! The brussel sprouts were great. And definitely leave room for dessert. The service outstanding! Im looking forward to going back! A+

Tasty food, great presentation, warm ambiance and attentive customer service at the spotted horse tavern. Freon the amazing simple yet warm and inviting decor to the well prepared, flavor rich dishes, you will never be disappointed.Try the pretzels, Reuben and the tuna tacos. Solid 5 stars, wer will be coming back.

Great restaurant, delicious food. Shrimp spaghetti was sooo good. Also steak and fries.

Great dining space but a lighting was a little dark for my liking. The staff was super friendly, I had about three servers for my table which i saw sitting outside since the indoor seating was full but it wasnt a long wait.The menu is extensive and food is good so this is worth the spot for a good date night.

I love this restaurant!! Food is delicious! Have been multiple times for dinner, but first time at brunch today! Great eggs benny!!! Mimosas were good too :-)
