Modern, 2-level pub serving burgers, salads and hearty mains, plus a garden with a kids' play area.
This local pub is characterised by WW II aviation decor- as it should be, given the history of the town. The pub has a good vibe and is quite spacious.Good pub grub.
They left us waiting for 50 mins before any food came and then said sorry your meal is being cooked we had a large table to do. I booked my time slot so that isnt our problem but theirs. No offer of a drink while we waited or money off the bill. I got a rump steak which was so tough to cut and eat. It was not a nice experience. Left to wait. Steak was worst Ive had anywhere and it was too loud to even hear each other talk. I will not be coming back.
Really enjoyed our visit to the Spitfire, great food and really lovely staff. Would certainly recommend it
We had a very pleasant family lunch good food generous portions exellent experience.
A warm and welcoming pub with a lovely garden area, this pub provides the perfect setting for a quick lunch, private meeting, or a meal with friends.
Lovely pub and food looks great great but garden has been forgotten and lets it down
Guiness & San Miguel out of serviceSandwich & Dressed Salad comes without napkin or cutleryInternet access terrible
Just a Great family Sunday lunch good food pleasant friendly atmosphere charming server all good.
Manky manky manky only go if you are young and trendy and want a drink. Food is available to soak up the alcohol but not really for gastronomic satisfaction .
Not bad to pop in but menu limited and no vegetarian options
Play area is not very good unfortunately. Our son was disappointed. It didnt keep him entertained for very long. Plenty of seats in garden though.
Very good nice place friendly staff and service had the room upstairs partly.
Fantastic atmosphere, the fish and chips was plesant and enjoyable. Although my batterfish was like a baby goldfish, my tap poured guinness was top class. Will visit again soon thank you.
Visited on Sunday for the usually delicious Sunday roast however was left very disappointed, the beef was over cooked the Yorkshire pudding have changed to what looked like to be Aunt Bessie’s as well as the cabbage which is normally cooked with bacon and all the veg was hard and had been out a while, overall wasn’t great. As a resident in Kingshill and it being our local I hope they change it back to how it was!!
Nice find, sat in the garden a nice atmosphere and friendly staff with nice food.
Lovely pub looks like lovely food the letdown was the glasses were absolutely disgusting dirt and smears all over them.
I was left feeling completely disgusted......The first time I had attended spitfire was to attend a collegues leaving do and it was an ok experience, as I sat outside and bought a drink. It was quite lively - with it being a Friday evening.I came to spitfire a few weeks later, with my colleagues and I was left completely disgusted and violated because of their careless behaviour in accommodating to my vegan lifestyle choice. This being because at first I had wanted a starter, of which they informed they did not have it available which was fine so I decided to try their Main : Happy planet cheese and bacon vegan burger. I happily paid and was waiting for my meal whilst my collegues had already recieved and finished their own meals. I was then brought the burger, of which was presented well. Although, I was suspicious as I was unsure as I had never eaten here before....After two bites of not still not being convinced I went to ask and double check if it was the vegan burger and was informed by another worker I was told to make a cheese and beef burger and then they stood in silence watching my response. I asked if it could be taken back, in which it was agreed so I would get my original order which was noted come in 20 minutes. I had then sat down and had felt sick so went to the toilet - to excuse myself.I then sat down and informed my colleagues ( whom are meat eaters), of what had happened and were rightly upset on my behalf. I was told that it was really bad how they handled it, and another explained that it would be a traumatising experiences when eating out in the future. A colleague then suggested I request a refund, of which they later agreed but when we had asked before they had complied the initial worker that took my meal comments your parents ordered for you. This was very embarrassing and was also a complete lie as my colleague and I ordered at the same time and I made it known I wanted a VEGAN burger.Surprisingly, I was initially calm about the mix up but upon reflection as a result of throwing up and now having broken out with spots I am left feeling disgusted at the way the issue was handled. This being as it has been 2 years without me eating meat...as a personal choice regarding health and this was not handled well at all.It is a shame as I know some of my colleagues enjoyed their meals, and had always praised spitfire with good comments but I wouldnt feel comfortable ordering from here again.I hope this review helps with putting better provisions in place to cater to other veggies/vegans - so that they dont miss out.
My burger was well over cooked but the chips were nice.
Lovely pub, great food. Great atmosphere. Drinks were reasonable, would returned. Great beer garden. Polite staff.
Love this place, visited here on a Saturday great atmosphere, music and food.only downpoint was that the play area was not open for my little one but cant be helped.
Latte coffee was stone cold, ordered a Sandwich but got a baguette. Presentation very poor, the baguette was just cut in half on a plate. A bit disappointing to be fair.
Not been here for many years was nice to return it has had a major refurbishment. Staff friendly and welcoming food was good we enjoyed it will go back more often
Very lovely! Set up for the jubilee beautifully done. Staff were helpful. Had a very accommodating waitress! Food was the best Ive had in a while!!
Rapid service and a really nice outdoor area with plenty of cover - food was pretty good too! 👍
Good food and a great atmosphere definately going to visit again soon.
Lovely big pub with plenty of seats inside and the bonus of a large outdoor area with a variety of seating and large brollies with under canopy heating perfect for a mild but sunny bank holiday Monday. We didnt eat there but I have to say that the food being brought out to tables that I saw looked very appetizing indeed and have resolved to return for lunch in the near future.
Just had a birthday/Mother’s Day meal at the Spitfire for 19. Everything was really well organised, they were short staffed but brought us olives and bread whilst we were waiting for our main courses free of charge. All food arrived as we had ordered and was very tasty. Hannah was very good in keeping us updated. We had a drink tab and then organised to pay our food separately. Thank you for a lovely afternoon and the 8 children with us were kept entertained with the outside play equipment. Thank you again for a lovely afternoon
A friend told us what great Sunday roast the Spitfire does so we thought wed give it a try - how right they were! We were offered a choice of 3 different meats plus a vegetarian option and when the food was brought out it was very generous portions and obviously all freshly prepared as well as 4 different sides of veg. Im very fussy about roast dinners when I go out but I couldnt fault this and I must make special mention about the staff who were all superb. Thank you to all at the Spitfire - we shall certainly be returning.
A wonderful Sunday roast as usual. Delicious flavour, good variety of vegetables perfectly cooked and served by friendly staff ! Gets busy so make sure to book.
Great pub with excellent decor to match. The food was delicious and the service was attentive and friendly. Theres playground equipment outside, and a well priced kids menu.
Absolutely wonderful pub. I went down to watch the boxing on Christmas Eve. Couldnt fault the experience, the managers decision to wear the ring girl outfit himself was inspired. 5 stars
Had a wonderful staff lunch at this pub.The three course meal was amazing with special mention of a tasty and mildly spicy tomato basil soup and mains with Turkey roast ( which is too filling due to quantity and a great choice of desserts. The staff were lovely with great service. Only had to mention when we needed every course as it gets too busy on a Friday afternoon due to too many staff Christmas lunches at the moment.
Just had a Christmas lunch for 40 people and the food and service were outstanding. More food than I could eat and all well cooked and hot. I’m sure our group will book again for next year. A big thanks to the staff and managers for all their service.
Lovely little pub with a pleasant atmosphere and both wooden tables and Chesterfield-style sofas for seating. Sadly the draft Peroni was off when we visited but the burgers were delicious.
Food was excellent. Its been a while since Ive had such great service too. Hats off to the 2 lads who looked after us on Saturday night.
Lovely pub with good food!
Had an absolutely delicious dinner on Sunday. Couldnt have been better. The manager was ever so excited to tell me about his invention, he called it a roastarrito. I didnt have the heart to tell him that it was already an established idea and not original at all. Still 5 stars
Have recently moved into Kings Hill and visited The Spitfire at least half a dozen times - usually for food.As a Shepherd Neame managed house, we werent expecting much but have been very pleasantly surprised in every regard. We usually sit in the garden which is spacious and comfortable with a range of different seating from picnic benches to rattan sofas. Inside looks very comfortable too, and no doubt we will spend more time here in the colder months. Were not big drinkers but it would be nice to have something other than Sheps beer occasionally, especially on the ales front. The food has been excellent every time. The Sunday roast was very good, and care is clearly taken by the kitchen to turn out food conscientiously. I dont think theres ever been a delay either, even when its been busy. Only thing is you have to pre book for a roast which can be a bit frustrating but I suppose they have their reasons. The managers are really good, too. Weve only met (who we presume isthe main man once but he was very much on the ball. The younger lady is very kind, attentive, and constantly circulates round all areas of the pub and is very good at what she does. Some of the staff are perhaps a bit inexperienced but are polite and willing, and you cant really ask for much more.Even if you arent a "pub goer" this is a great venue for all ages and there are often families with lots of little ones running around in what we certainly consider a safe space for our own children.Cant really recommend highly enough. Well done to the team for running a great pub.
Totally recommend the brownie 😛 Outdoor area, families and dogs welcome, clean toilets, nice staff
This was a nice pub The staff where frendly and attentive. The food was good quality and value. We had a privet room and this was set up and fit for purpose. The general pub and garden was spacious and not overcrowded. A good day in a good venue.
A good selection of food and nicely cooked. Staff were very friendly and helpful (take a bow Hannah Geven escorting my visually impaired mother to the disabled toilet rather than just pointing the way. The Whitstable bay was tasty too.
Relaxed friendly service via their app or at the table.Well presented food that was fresh and full of flavour.Particularly recommend the well designed garden for meeting up with friends, family and colleagues.
Would definitely come again. Nice community feel inside, outside and surrounding area. Plenty of seating, just no more than 6 right now lol.
Never been to this place before, in fact I never knew it existed until tonight. There are two floors, the lower level (main baris a lively, buzzing place while upstairs (Lancaster Suitewas hosting a live music event which was also very busy. Id be interested to return again for sure.
Lots of seating inside and out, I prefer the outdoor seating, especially on hot days. The food is really good, I tried the salt and vinegar chicken wings and they are better than expected, really really nice. The burgers are massive, I had to take mine apart to eat it lol
First visit to this pub and was impressed, excellent selection of beers and whilst I didnt eat on this occasion, Menu and food looked great, Staff friendly and quick serving, lovely beer garden, really good atmosphere.
It may have been recently renovated, but it lacks substance on all culinary levels, which all chain pubs are let down by. Lovely staff and a warm, comfortable environment. Good for meeting at, but not eating in.
Lovely, family friendly pub with a very nice garden and play area.
Currently on a strict no carb diet and unlike every other restaurant Ive been to where I remove virtually everything bar the meat and have to pay extra for a few bits, not here I asked for a few rashers of bacon and got a mountain served up with a magnificent 16oz rump mmmmmm amazing food and amazing service!!
Recently refurbished its a beautiful pub. Lots of lovely seating, a great garden and a proper restaurant area. The grilled salmon fillet was lovely and the Eton mess was huge. The staff were lovely.... carrying trays for customers and providing water for dogs.
