60 Chalton St, Somers Town, London NW1 1HS, Subaykhān
Traditional pub with chunky tables and bright sofas, open all day for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Very disappointing experience in this place. The food was not nice, the burgers we ordered were cold and quite chewy, something I’ve not experienced from a simple burger before. I also don’t agree with the hidden, service charge on the bill. I usually leave a tip when I’ve had good service, but giving a tip when I had to queue at the bar to order our food is a bit ridiculous. Pay your staff right and adjust your prices accordingly.
I discovered I was charged for service on a drink and then on another purchase before my food even arrived - both ordered at the bar - I thought a service charge was supposed to be discretionary and dependent on receiving good service or not - not added on secretly. Thats bad service verging on criminal. I wont be coming back here as a result.
Fantastic evening. Food was excellent at a reasonable price. Best pint I have had in 12 months (Landlord). Manager very helpful. Loved it. A definite must visit.
Went to Somers Town for an engagement party. The location is near a large national railway station. We were in the basement which is a bar area. Very nicely laid out, quite modern in decor. The staff were attentive and friendly. Somers Town catered the event too, and the food was delicious.
Great bar, great facilities, super friendly staff. Ideal for small events as well as a great drink.Yep. Im a fan.
A hidden gem near Euston Station. Great location. Barmaid had great knowledge and a real passion for her job. Sea bass was great. Sitting outside was bliss. Will call again.
Stopped in to grab a bite for breakfast just as they opened as theyre close by to where I was staying. Ordered a Full English Breakfast and some tea. My order was taken quickly and it didnt take long for the food to come out. Staff was friendly...I have no complaints.
Nice pub, big and very clean. The staff was super nice and the food good.
Good pub. Seems to always be busy and lively. Thursday evening had no free tables except outside. Good range of pump beers.
Very accommodating, brilliant location and a lovely local vibe which makes it pretty unique for a pub so central. Will be back!
Went there last night with a bunch of people after work, great time in the Cosy area downstairs, lovely bar staff, great music and atmosphere, will be coming back :)
Really nice staff! I ordered na english breakfast and it wasn’t good but I don’t used to eat that kind of food and I never had an english breakfast before so I can’t compare it to any other restaurant/pub.
Conveniently located bar close to Euston and St Pancras. Good drinks and food selection and lots of different rooms to sit down in. I visited at 5pm on a Thursday and the wait at the bar was extreme...almost 15 mins, but the servers were working hard so doing a good job. Not sure Id come back here at peak time.
Classy but homey interior. Not too busy despite location. Great fish based dishes and oysters to boot. Down to earth gastro pub which I imagine would be super cosy in winter.
Booked a room for a team meeting. Food, drinks and service were great and reasonably priced. 10 out of 10.
Great local place, nice small plates of food, lovely staff. Surprise was a speakeasy, cocktail bar in the basement which stayed open after the pub closed. Well worth a visit, we had a lovely time.
We went for a family gathering with many a clutz. The staff were more than helpful and when they should have been deriding us they were happily laughing with us instead. The food was great and had something for everyone, halloumi burger and the baba were standouts.A nice little haven away from the busy streets.Good beer and cocktails too.
Really good staff, helped one of our group with wheelchair. Fish and chips were excellent.
I held an event in the Speak Easy Cellar bar. The venue has an excellent location in close proximity to Euston station. The area we had in the cellar is a quirky, funky space. The staff were fantastic and the food was amazing! No photos I’m afraid. I was a bit busy.
Excellent breakfast spot half way between Kings Cross and Euston stations.I had Full Vegan which was excellent and also tried the French Toast which was fantastic. Not bad prices for London and very good Americano coffee.Nice decor inside and also has a full bar. Lunch menu looked pretty good too. Ive been on my last 2 visits to London and everyone enjoyed it
Great pub for a quick lunch around Kings Cross. Good selection of beers, delicious food and the staff are just so lovely! Shout out to Chloe, who always makes us feeling welcome and is probably the nicest person in the world!
Cannot believe that this place is just a few minutes walk from Euston Road.Really good food and drink in a relaxed environment. How did I not find them sooner?
IF YOU CARE ABOUT CLENLINESS, HYGIENE AND GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE STAY AWAY! We asked for a menu but they said they were not taking food orders anymore, so we ordered 2 drinks instead. The juices came in tall glasses filled with ice and after taking a sip through the straw I noticed that the rim was dirty. It looked like dried up food that hadnt even been washed yet. My boyfriend went to kindly ask for some clean glasses and the woman behind the bar denied there being anything wrong with it, blaming the salt from the dish washer. It was only after a back and forth and her continuously rolling her eyes huffing and puffing she agreed to replace the cups with cleans ones. Or so we thought. Instead she brings out a dirty sponge and puts hand wash in our cups to clean whilst shouting at us Im doing it before refilling it and handing the glasses back over. We were so shocked at the entire experience we decided to leave straight away!!
Popped in for a quick pint while waiting for a friend stuck on a delayed train into Kings X. So much better than the overpriced, inauthentic and noisy, polluted boozers along the Euston rd (The Euston tap being an exception!). A genuine gem - as a lifelong londoner Im ashamed I didnt discover it before! Extensive outdoor seating, great staff (although undoubtedly overworked like the rest of the industry!). Good beer selection both cask and keg. Tasted a few beers but settled on the Eagle IPA which was superb. Look forward to returning and trying their food in the future!
Nice little place with a vibe. Friendly staff and clean. With lots of space to sit and good food and cheapish drinks. Close to Kings Cross. Defo a place to save for future
Made use of the hot desking. Plenty of coffee, super friendly service and the flatbread was very generous in size and topping. A great place to have a team meeting.
Unexpected historic building a stones throw from Euston Station with an excellent beer selection. Looking forward to sampling the pub menu.
Very poor menu - brunch only. And incredibly slow service - waiting nearly an hour for food. On the other hand, friendly staff and good though reduced choice of beers. Seems to be in decline overall, hope it’s only temporary.
Nice friendly atmosphere and close to Euston Station. This place serves fresh food at a decent price for a London pub.
I used to love this place. But it’s gone downhill. They switched sunday menu without prior notice. (I booked a table for the roast dinner)Most of the food arrived cold and then took ages to rectify. No cutlery with food. No napkins. Staff seemed uninterested and angry for no apparent reason. Finished plates sat on table for 1hr after meal (it wasn’t busy). It’s a shame cos it used to be a great spot.
NEW POST: thank you! We had a lovely time there and the guys behind the bar were lovely and the food was lovely, some new things that we loved, appreciate and welcome all your efforts and keeping this local place welcoming and of good quality! We will be back for more :)OLD POST: Love the place, at times very cosy and quiet, great location, great mix of people from different walks of life and lovely outdoor area, most of the staff is friendly and welcoming so would give 5 stars apart from the below:Two weeks ago on Thursday came with my partner to have some food and drinks, place was busy, and staff seems to be under a lot of pressure; tried to order a cocktail from the menu and they told me I couldn’t, first time I thought ok you’re busy let’s try sth simpler, next time I was greeted by a young very indolent borderline rude girl that when I asked for gin fizz she told me I couldn’t have it even though it was on the menu; she handed me tonic water and was visibly disturbed when I explained that this was an alcoholic beverage not tonic water; I commented to say I had the same drink there before as I’ve been coming for two years and that is on the menu, and she gave me a short and rude answer that tonight I was not having it and rolled her eyes at me as if I asked her to murder someone or plough the land; while it may seem petty, her attitude was electrifyingly negative and dismissive, I understand you’re busy and you’re working hard, but hey I worked that day 12 hours and I don’t need a 20-year old sth to give me the attitude while I’m the one coming to the bar, she’s not serving me the drinks and she stands there with cannot be arsed attitude; little kindness or professionalism if former is not your nature goes a long way; you ruined our night as without saying anything my partner went to get drinks and came back with the same comments - if you’re not happy working there please don’t take it out on your loyal customers; and please stop working there so I can enjoy this lovely venue! Sth else: food was better before, lots of canned food might look hipsterish but not so appealing, you had some great food selection before and it’d be good to reduce fried or canned food on the menu, thank you
I had never been here before , I came across it by accident walking around wasting time as I was waiting for a train.I didnt have any food but what passed me was very good looking and smelt tempting. Coffee was good though , we both said we will return for lunch .
Always loved this bar! Great sophisticated bar in a hide away place. Only thing is service can vary and drink prices are inconsistent, only a recent thing I have found
Beautiful bar, lovely food. We visited all the way from Glasgow with a friend who lived along the road when she was a young girl and she was really excited to take us to experience the pub and the area. Unfortunately the staff were all very unfriendly and unwelcoming which resulted in a less than pleasant experience. Hopefully just a one off!
Really enjoy this pub. Lots on offer, good amount of space eg to book for a gathering. Great location for people who need euston/kings x afterwards.
Really nice traditional pub. Even though geographically its very much in central London its located down a quite street which almost gives it a sense of being in village pub. Relaxing place and friendly staff. I will definitely go again!
This is a little hidden Gem....staff are super nice and cool, they can mix cocktails great, have had few events here as well as nights out....always stay till they kick me out...thats how much it is got that good vibe....
Described as having a great range of beers, craft and others, I was a bit miffed to find that of their 18 or so dispensers, 13 were out of stock, on one hand, doing a great job of selling beers, on the other, I had a very poor choice of ales. Supper was nice, wine, nice equally, but I felt the hype was a bit overplayed.
This place used to be great but has gone badly downhill. Visited today with my wife and 3 month old baby for lunch. It was virtually empty on arrival.I ordered 2 pints and was given 2 beers that were just sat on the side. I questioned it and was told I could have fresh ones, for which I replied yes please. Then another barmaid butted in saying they’d only just been poured which was rude. If they had explained the situation I may have taken them but to just thrust them on me was a bit off.Later my wife took our daughter to the baby change and she described the experience as worse than the long drop at Glastonbury. The toilet had clearly not been cleaned for some time. Someone, possibly the Manager did come and apologise. But worst of all was when a customer in a wheelchair tried to exit through one door which was blocked outside by a pallet. When she explained to the barmaid she couldn’t get out that door she was simply told ‘yeah we get deliveries there’. No attempt to help at all.The service was simply awful, such a shame as we used to go regularly and was a great pub. You won’t see me in there again.
A fine welcoming establishment offering a good choice of beers, both cask and keg. Fast friendly service from the lovely staff. Beer is well kept and tasty. Plenty of food on offer. There are private dining rooms and a small terrace at the back, also a fair bit of seating at the front of the pub for those sunnier days. Close by is St. Pancreas old church, a site that houses the tomb of Sir John Soane. There is a wonderful museum in Lincolns Inn Fields from the man. Worth a visit.
Really disappointed. Went today for what was meant to be a special Sunday treat. Firstly they wouldn’t accept cash so I had to use a credit card 🙁. The service was not particularly friendly, or efficient. We waited 45 minutes for our food which arrived warm not hot - The roast beef was flavourless, no Yorkshire pudding, the new potatoes weren’t roasted, the parsnips were undercooked, while the broccoli (like the meatwas overcooked, and to top it off, they had “run out” of horseradish. I wouldn’t recommend this pub at all. Such a shame, as it looked good online.
A lovely place tucked away from all the crazy busy places around both Euston and kings cross stations. The menu is amazing with a mix between traditional English pub food and a variety of quirky recipes. It’s quite spacious with lovely and warm decorations that gives off a homely vibe. The staff is friendly. Definitely worth visiting again.
This place is my sanctuary from the horror of Euston Road and the awful pubs/bars along its route. A very spacious dark wood interior with meeting & dining rooms upstairs and lots of outdoor seating. Great selection of IPAs.I note the very mixed reviews about the food/service but I haven’t eaten here and can’t comment. I must say, however, that the staff appear to be a little disinterested. There was an uncleared empty food table when I arrived that was eventually cleared at least 20 minutes later. A little more enthusiasm would make this a 5 star gastropub.
Great gluten-free options including gluten-free fish and ships. The food is delicious and the meeting rooms upstairs are great! A true gem for coeliacs.
Cute pub with additional space for dining or events behind a bookshelf on the main floor. I didnt care for the food unfortunately, but the staff and decor were lovely.
Amazing gluten free options including delicious Fish and Chips. I would have liked more mushy peas... But was overjoyed with fish and chips
Awesome food, cool staff, first place in London I found where I felt welcome. Would 100% recommend.Delicious honey btw :)
Amazing breakfast and super friendly staff but not all the time which could be ignored because the food is great. If they could just have more vegetarian options i would hav given them 5 stars.Whoever is decorating the food must be a real good visualiser
If you want to special place to book for a birthday, the upstairs rooms are definitely worth considering. Service is good and the food is decent. There is a selection of drinks, ales, beers and wines, although the cocktails were pretty run of the mill. The decor is wonderful though, has its own charm.
Love this coffee house and pub. Great selection and food and beer. Came here for lunch several time and loved it! Also they serve the Guinness here on regular temperature (not extra coldwhich is a huge plus!! Definitely recommend this place!
