Simple food and 5 real ales served in 2 wood-panelled bars, plus pool, quiz nights and live music.
Very good local independent pub. Good selection of beers, wines and spirits. Very broad menu, I had the BBQ ribs and they were excellent. TV room shows sport, separate dining area of youre interested in any of that. Big function room. Fantastic beer garden. Dog friendly. Approachable and attentive staff. Ticks all the boxes. Great pub.
Nice food, friendly staff.
Our family had lunch yesterday at the Six Bells to discover that the menu does not accurately reflect what is really served. Note: Gammon with egg(swere served with one egg and Roast turkey with pig in a blanket was served with no pig in a blanket. The Gammon its self was very good. Additionally, the chips were small and over cooked (hard). However; after contacting management, a refund for one of six meals was made.
Been coming to the six bells for years, it is and always has been a fantastic place eat, drink and socialise.
Nice pub, with big dog-friendly garden. However the food has really gone downhill recently, it used to be quite gastropub but is now just standard pub grub. A shame.
Friendly pub with good selection of beers and fantastic food. Good portion sizes too.Highly recommended.
Great outdoor setup, fantastic food. Lovely staff. Do yourself a favour and visit on a nice day.
Lovely pub with a great outdoor area.
Few years since I have been here. Nicely refurbished and good selection of beers.
Average pub, friendly service and not too expensive food, which was quite nice but not overly exciting. Standard pub food.
All 10 of us - ages 2 through to 92 - thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Well worth a visit.
A great dog friendly place. We had a very enjoyable lunch, fish fingers on sourdough with crisps and salad.
Lovely Sunday roast. However, did not like the way the food is piled up on s small plate.Very awkward to eat. The plate for child was like a tea plate .
10/10 couldnt ask for more for a nice pub + restaurant in Cambridge. Excellent and speedy service, great atmosphere and every single one of our dishes were presented brilliantly and were delicious.
Friendly thatched roof Village pub. Great pub grub and separate dining room. Lovely Sunday roast
Valentines menu had disappeared and was replaced with the normal food menu. Which to be fair was the same thing apart from the odd thing or two. Service was good and the food was okay. Would I rush back 🤔 probably not. Would I go back. Yes.
Very happy to accommodate a last minute booking for 6 people. The service was great and the food was really good. Had a real home cooked feel to it. The pub itself has an older, cosy feel about it and the staff were welcoming and helpful.
Welcoming staff, vegan options were very good. Guinness could have been poured better but it was alright.
Great food and atmospherefriendly local pub,
Came for Sunday lunch had excellent service from Ella and brilliant food. great to see this place coming back to life again, sad to see rude customers badmouthing the place. The poor staff! We look forward to coming back.
Probably the most disappointed experience in this pub, starting off with the very unhelpful staff who absolutely know nothing about food service and the customer experience. It’s now LAW to put food allergies on the menus this pub would probably kill you first as it’s total disregard for not putting this information on its menus is a blatant disregard for public safety.Hidden in your Sunday roast was cheese sauce in and under the veg meat gravy not on menu.I’m going to report this pub for it’s failure to disclose what’s in its food!! its poor management poor attitude awful just awfulStay clear.
beautiful traditional pub, very friendly staff, the Sunday roast was lovely
3 time in a row the food was below par, the roast beef was chewy, the staff seem to just walk around in a world of their own, such a shame as im local but wont risk eating there again,
Fabulous food !!! The Biscoff sundae was simply awesome!!!Great service (Thank you to Louise who was helpful, polite and approachable), really good value and outside seating was a bonus today with the sun shining !
Covid - sensible practices in place. Love this pub. Still able to maintain that good old pub atmosphere with loads of nooks and crannies. Good place to bring friends if you want to here yourself speak. Staffing was very sparse, but the service was excellent with only 4 extremely hard working staff on. Good quality food at reasonable prices. Would come again as there was no large over bearing loud TVs on and it had a restful atmosphere. Congratulate these hard working staff and leave them a good tip!
Very nice pub with professional polite staff. Food/drinks I cannot fault and the service provided.Highly recommend this pub.
friends of mine horace and the late linda were landlord and landlady at this pub for many years myself and a friend dropped in on tuesday 8th june for a drink sat outside in the beer garden i understand it recently had a refurbishment and by the amount i was charged for 4 pints of beer i understand why lots if people dont go to pubs anymore if i was in central london and charged £18.50 for 4 pints i could understand but not in a village outside cambridge i would imagine the other pubs in fulbourn will fair much better than the six bells ??
Great beer garden if its warm outside. The table service due to covid was also well executed. Very friendly staff
Stepped up with superb food as a fabulous wedding venue in the pandemic. My daughter lives in Fulbourn village and was struggling to find a venue for the wedding meal. Not only did the food far exceed our expectations, but the pub provided a gazebo to shelter us from the storm, and the service was brilliant. I cannot praise this pub highly enough.
We cycled from Cambridge in hot weather, decided to stay in the pub for half an hour to refresh. First it took 20 min to take our order, second, another 15 min later we found out that the waiter (drinks guyforgot to pass our order to the kitchen. So we waited for 40 min for nothing.Disappointed visit. If you are not local, don’t go there.
This is hands down the best pub burger I think Ive ever eaten. The service was a little stretched but Im giving them a pass due to the fact that we went in the week the lockdown was lifted and youre bound to be a little flustered.Has a nice ample beer garden and I liked the fact that our tables stand was a tree stump that theyd popped a table top on and the landlord explained that this was due to it needing to be felled as it had been struck by lightning. The beer garden was well maintained with a couple of covered areas to hide if the British weather did its thing. Was also pleasantly surprised when the bill came.
Just finished a delicious takeaway roast! Amazing gravy, tasty chicken, delicious Yorkshire puddings and lots of lovely veg. The gravy was also brilliant. And all for £9.99. Would definitely recommend and will definitely have it again!
We had a takeaway meal here on Sat 19th Dec and it was amazing!!! I had the steak and ale pie which was truly yummy & my wife had a the stilton & garlic mushroom which she said was delicious. The home made chunky chips were amazing!!! I picked the food up from the pub & the staff were great. I felt very safe picking up the food as good social distancing measures were in place. I finished it off with a sticky toffee pudding which topped off a fantastic meal
Very poor service table not cleared from main course only when desserts came out, would never of taken our order if not for a table near us getting there attention. Food was ok but people in there just drinking. Im assuming hand sanitizer there but never see these on entering. Very disappointed.
best pub Ive ever been to , would reccomend to absolutely everyone, the food was fantastic and the drinks were a great price - absolutely phenomenal place, thank you so much!! :))
My first visit since its been under new management, and a bit disappointing. I had a solid pub lunch here about a year ago. Nothing fancy - scampi and chips - but a generous portion of well-cooked food.Todays £10 lasagne wouldnt fill a sparrows kneecap, as my gran would have said. Loads of sauce, very little meat, tasted like Dolmio. Almost called Trading Standards when I saw the pinch of rocket that was masquerading as salad. The garlic bread was oily and bitter.Obviously I dont expect fine dining for a tenner but I know it can be done better than this. Theres a lot to like about this unreconstructed boozer - unpretentious, decent beer, dartboard - but a bit of imagination in the kitchen wouldnt go amiss.
Had a lamb roast and it was delicious, hubby had roast beef which he enjoyed and their cauliflower cheese well yum yum. Staff were lovely. People were friendly. Would defo recommend 100%
Just had the most amazing meal at Six Bells in Fulbourn. Would HIGHLY recommend this beautiful pub..they even had kids packs to keep the little man happy containing pencils and stickers etc 😉. The Sunday roasts were outstanding as were the puddings..now home for a nap I think 😊😊😊
I have entered the premises once before. I believe a gentleman by the name of Hugo ran the pub and did so well for many years. Unfortunately The Six Bells has been taken over by a family who gets there 14 year old boy to run the restaurant who has absolutely no idea! The parents walking round like a couple of chavs in their plastic sliders and very loud.We arrived at the Pub in question and went to the bar, it was busy, 2nd night in. The ales had changed and had no range of aswhat they had before and very limited this had been a ale pub for decades, so this hasnt gone down well with the locals, although this didnt bother me Im a Stella man.We decided to try the restaurant out, sat down and I must say that it looked lovely, elegant, well spaced tables, nice decor. Then thats a far as the niceties go! It was a little difficult ordering the cheeseburger but asking if it was possible to have no cheese, order drinks and asking 5 times throughout the evening where they are. Ordering a sharing plate but comes as individuals, my partner order the chicken burger and what landed in her face was 3 tiny chicken strips with a thimble of chicken gravy. When Mrs Chav (the Manager/Landladycame round, I commented to her to say its not going well tonight, very defensive, loud and said well it is only our second night, what do expect, her attitude stunk. In the end the 4 sets of tables in our area were just in fits of laughter over the staff who clearly have no idea of customer service, or running a pub, when your eating your food and your half way through your meal and your in the process of cutting your burger for another bite to eat, the staff will appear and ask have you finished your food while trying to clear your plate away, how strange? While we were at the Circus we entered the function room as they had a live band on. Good songs, bit quite, long pauses between songs, pub had the lights on fully everywhere no atmosphere, so left.Im sorry to say that all of the people in the restaurant that evening will not be back to eat, and we all agreed that the Hat and Rabbit in Fulbourn is well worth a visit and hasnt got to worry about a thing. Its sad, The Six Bells is such a lovely pub that is clearly going to be ruined, they need help in organisation skills, task management, people skills, customer service, common sense and staff behavioural problems/issues. I do hope they take on customer comments but I feel that Were all gonna be wrong. 🙁😧.
Lovely pub. Was great for us as dog friendly. Good selection of pub food and very tasty too. Certainly was a perfect ending after walking around fulbourn fens and the local area all morning
Wonderfuuuulll and very welcoming staff. The food IS delicious! 100%recommendable😉
I had a wonderful experience at this local pub. Hugo (and the kitchenwere kind enough to serve me food even though I was slightly late for the lunchtime service.I enjoyed a delicious baked potato with prawns and Marie Rose sauce, and the wonderful waitress was even willing to deliver my meal to the end of their frankly massive garden, where I had nestled myself to enjoy the last of the November sun.A great selection of beers at the bar (I partook of the Punk IPA, expensive but worth itand a very friendly bunch of patrons (not only local, I spoke to a lovely chap who regularly visits from a nearby town).
Here you will find very friendly and welcoming staff. There are a great selection of real ales available, and these frequently change. This pub serves home cooked food, in large portions. Sometimes booking may be necessary due to popularity. There is always homely and friendly atmosphere. There are three pubs in this small village, but this is the only one I go to, and it is not the closest. There is a large beer garden with lots of mature trees and space for kids to run about. They also have a room for venue hire, which is great for parties, and has its own bar.
Six Bells is a warm and welcoming family run pub with the best beer garden around. Great food, varieties of ales both local and otherwise all wrapped up and in a friendly, welcoming atmosphere.
Excellent friendly staff, good range of real ales. Big gin menu. Filled with locals 4pm Sunday
We. Arranged our staff Xmas meal for late January. The ease of arrangements and fluid communication could not be faulted. The meal was excellent well timed and delivered flawlessly. One of our team had special dietary restrictions and a meal of menu was cooked without any fuss ( he couldnt finish it as the portion was very ample.Only very very small niggle was limited parking ( lines marking bays would significantly stop people parking like they had abandoned it!Would we go back, yes!, a very happy party of 15 -
Plenty of choice for drinks, from craft ales to expensive whiskys, something for every taste and budget.Food is exceptionally good, proper homemade fayre and good sized portions were a welcome sight for this northern lad.Only missed out on 5 stars because it looks a little dated inside, but this doesnt bother me.Give it a go if youre hungry or want a nice pint.
The carpet smelled awful. The meal portion was massive and I already lost my appetite. No drinks menu or desserts. Only one dessert on the board they showed me. Didnt have the appetite to try that either by the atmosphere. The lady served was pleasant. Mash potato was served as chunks and not prepared well. Juice I ordered tasted like a low quality supermarket bottled drink. Never again. Pricey for what we ate. I was expecting a nice pub lunch..:(
We ate Sunday dinner. It was alright, my brothers beef was done rare when specifically asked at medium and the potatoes where hard. The staff were lovely, like the atmosphere. Other than the view minor issues it was a good restaurant and dining experience. It was priced very competitively.
Very traditional pub. Its bar area feels ancient, which gives it an intimate atmosphere: low ceilings, tables and chairs backed up against each other. You wont find a booth or television! The downside of this great atmosphere and tight space is that some tables have stools instead of chairs, so theres no back rest which combined with the low tables can get uncomfortable!Pub quiz on Thursdays is great fun, and usually includes heckling and complete silence after a hard question is called.
