Interesting history embedded in those fascinating colonial buildings and architecture. Id say the atmosphere there is pretty different from other places in the city. Worth a visit.

A landmark of Yangon, formerly a The Secretariat Office and closed for many years, it is now a landmark of Yangon due to the Yangon Heritage Groups major renovations.Offices, Souvenir Shop and RestaurantsExperience the rich history of Yangon with its colonel Colonial-era building details.
A beautifully restored complex - really amazing British, colonial architecture. Also a significant site in Myanmar’s fight for claim to independence. A few shops and a place to grab a coffee but it’s mostly young Myanmar coming here to take photos
A lovely old British Style building and historical places for Myanmar
Beautiful historical building. Great informative tour guide.
A beautiful place. Feels calm and serenity. Once the restoration is completed, I believe this place will be full of life and activities for all people to enjoy and remember the history.
The secretariat is the most stunning place and heart of Yangon, among colonial building. I just want to see as a big museum which place we learn about our leaders who assassinated while trying to get independence.
The most beautiful colonial building in Yangon. The architecture are so great. This is a remembrance of our General Aung San. So you must visit to the Secretariat.
Beautifully restored heritage building. A good example of heritage preservation and reconversion that will hopefully set the trend for the numerous architectural gems in Yangon. Some areas are open to the public. Worth visiting.
Still a work in progress, but worth a visit. Lots of history. Wonderful setting. Great shops. When completed (2021will probably be worth 5 stars.
Beautiful architecture and piece of Myanmar history. It is currently under remodeling. Only part of the property is accessible for free. If you want to enter the other areas, you need to join a tour (which I believe was roughly $10 USD for admission.)
Great to learn the history, structure of building, first parliament of Myanmar and so many many things....
Great place to get a hint of the political history of the country. Take the guided tour, otherwise the place will just look like a nice modern building and thats it. The guided tour will give light to many chambers and work done in the whole area, plus youll have access to important history locations.
The Ministers Building (Burmese: ဝန်ကြီးများရုံး; also called the Ministers Office; is today known as The Secretariat or Secretariat Yangonand was the home and administrative seat of British Burma, in downtown Yangon, Burma and is the spot where Aung San and six cabinet ministers were assassinated. The British administration moved the office from Strand Road after administrative work increased exponentially resulting in an urgent need to expand the cramped and poorly lit administration building
I enjoyed sightseeing tour in that building, one of most historical place and biggest colonial building.you can buy the tour to visit inside the building. It start 10:30 and 1:30. It is cost 15000(10us)for foreigners.
Awesome architecture and good coffeeshopThere is a tour throughout a day for you to learn more about Myanmar culture$10 per person
Im very interesting to visit here. A lot of history of Myanmar here, you can learn.
A place where we can rest and take relaxation. Many art features and decorations are also adding in this place. And you can learn the old technic or style of antique buildings. And this is an ancient or antique place of Myanmars (Burma)s leaders. You can also find a cafe inside there.
Love this place. Its totally free for entrance and the duration is until 5pm.You can get Tom&Tom cafe inside it.Not the entire construction is finished, but some are done. The architecture of the building remind me of back to hundreds years ago.
Very historical place where myanmar independence leader General Aung San was assisinated. Preserved as 1900 brick building. Museum and art show are frequent there. Street side Book selling road is good to pick up rare ones.
This place is filled with history from British colony era, assassination of politicians including Bogyoke Aung San and Burma independence. No entry fee.Currently, it is undergoing restoration, still, visitors are welcomed. Tour guide is available at 9,000 kyat per person. The restoration of double spiral stairs completed in year 2021.
I paid for a tour and the guide explained us in detail about the place esp. architecture and history of the place. It is open daily. The tour service is provided from 9:30 to 4:30 pm. Usually its one hour tour. You can call ahead and reserve for your group as well. The guide was very patient and he explained well.
One of the best landmark in Yangon that everybody needs to visit and appreciate more in the most positive way possible. The Building is gorgeous and the environment is amazing.
The best destination to enjoy the British vibe of 20th Century Burma. It is also remarkable for turning point of Burmese Independence and for studying old historical photos, documents, and small stuffs. Get some memories and photos there, too.
Beautiful Victorian styled architecture. However, the building is currently undergoing renovation. You can only go in with a guide and you will have to sign an indemnity form. Its quite overpriced (USD 6for a 30-45mins tour in only 1 wing (there are 3 wings in the building). If you are into architecture, this is the place to go. According to the guide, the building will be ready in 2021.
This place is one of the most memorial monuments in Myanmar History. Every tour should have visited if theyd been in Yangon.
I loved visiting here - took a guided tour (1 hour for 9000 Kyats)The guide really explained everything well and answered my questions. At the end of tour when the other guests left the guide evening spent extra time taking photos for me.Highly recommended to visit and learn some political history.
Its a great place for those who wanna see historical buildings. Now there is a restaurant in front of it. Fruit juices and different kind of foods are available here. Its also a good place to take photos with the cool background.
A historical place in Yangon with remarkable events. This old building is now under renovation as it was destroyed/damaged by former military people who resided in.
It is really wonderful place. When i got there and climbed up the stairs i feel like im going back in history
A very historical, and possibly the best example of, colonial building in the heart of Yangon. The Secretariat plays a central role in Myanmar’s independence as this was where Aung San, the Father of Modern Myanmar, and his ministers were assassinated.
This is historical building where Myanmars independent father General Aung San and other ministers were assassinated 70 years ago. The Secretariat, built in the late 19th century, was the seat of British colonial government. It was very interesting to see inside a building that is very mysterious from the outside fences.
This is history building where Myanmars independent father were assinated70 years ago. This building was build during English colony in World War. Its 15 minutes from Shwedagone pagoda by taxi. 10 minutes to Sulay pagoda by foot..
We can see the very first Parliament of Myanmar,it was same style of Parliament from England on those day.We can also see the place,General Aung San and his college were assassinated and the architecture of colonial building. They provide with local guide for every visitor.
Went there for photo exhibition. This is the historical place with magnificent architecture. Its a very rare chance to get into the building. There will be also book stall outside the compound, along the road, on weekends. These are opened by the publishers themselves. So, cheaper and good experience having conversation with them.
The building itself is in much need of repair and renovation. I went inside to view a photography display (absolutely horrible in its design and content, but thats beside the pointand was disappointed with what I saw. Lots of history here, but nobody seems to care.
Time fly so fast. Nothing can change the History. Now this building is change to great again. 10th Yangon Photo Festival Feb-16 to March-11, 2018
It is a great historical and fateful building for Myanmar people! Because General Aung Sam, Myanmar independence hero, was assassinated in this building in 1947. And also it was the first Parliament of Myanmar after getting Independence from British…
An absolutely beautiful example of colonial architecture. Currently being renovated to its former glory. You can take a historical tour despite construction.
Under renovation and off-limits as of October 2017. You can photograph the buildings from the outside but some are scaffolded. The beautiful main building is on Thein Phyu Road and was not scaffolded when I visited, although the gate gets in the way and makes the building hard to photograph. You can ask the guards to take photographs for you from the inside.
The historic Secretariat building is only opened once a year on Martyrs Day and draws huge crowds of locals to understand the history and witness the building which is central to a very important event in Myanmars democratic history. While the queue times can be over 2 hours long, it was a great experience to visit before its renovation.
