Stylish 18th-century pub with nooks and log fires serving Mediterranean food, ales and cocktails.
Had a good meal here, we were going to just eat in the bar area but it was closed for some reason so we sat in the restaurant. Staff were really attentive (almost a bit to much), food was tasty, my desert was apple and damson crumble which was tasty, with the exception of when to crumble topping was toasted it was very slightly burnt. Recommend putting brown sugar on the top before toasting!!
Came in for a drink in the afternoon and the service by Christian was amazing. Felt like staying and had some lunch and Connor’s service was absolutely sublime. Love this place
Bar staff were pretty abrupt we were asked to move to three different places to stand whilst trying to order a drink so gave up after the wait when still couldnt order, the table service was great for dinner though and the food was really good.
Such a lovely place with great food and brilliant service. All the staff were really friendly
Just had a lovely lunch here. Great service and food
Wanted the chicken burger, nope didnt have thatOrdered the chicken, bacon and avocado salad....they forgot the avocadoThe tables are sticky and the one I was sat at wobblesAs for the table decoration, it looks like it should have been thrown out two weeks before - see photoThe others in the group seemed to enjoy the mealEdit: gave a decent discount for the salad
Lovely menu, everyone enjoyed their meal., Excellent friendly chatty staff made us feel very welcome. A pleasurable experience will definitely recommend.
Thank you so much for the great service.I suffer really badly with allergies and everyone from the waiters to the chef took it really seriously which I really appreciate (many don’tme and my husband also really enjoyed the food! Thank you so much x
Both inside and out was presented well, warm welcome from staff. Keep an eye on your cost, they were close to central London prices
We celebrated my husbands 40th birthday in the private restaurant area today. All the guests were hugely impressed with the standard of service, delicious food and general atmosphere. I cannot recommend this venue highly enough. Thank you for making this day such a special one. A special thanks to the staff who looked after us today, nothing was too much trouble for them.
Service was excellent and the food was great, particularly the roasts. Everyone enjoyed it, a relaxed meal in very pleasant surroundings.
Had a lovely meal here! We were given lovely friendly service by our server Janna, all was prompt and in a timely manner. The food was delicious! The beef with the roast was very tender and when I asked for more gravy it wasn’t an issue and they bought over a good amount rather than little pots that I kept having to ask for more (I love gravy). The only thing was that we ordered coffee with dessert and the coffees came about 10 mins after the desserts and the coffees weren’t that hot.Overall it was a great meal out and I will be returning!
The Sunday roast chicken was cooked well but the roast potatoes were shocking. Looked like they had been sitting in the pan all day and probably fried at the end to serve up to late diners. The whole meal was extremely salty! The chicken in the ceasar salad, was so dry and tough as was the childrens chicken strips. Overall very disappointed.
Great service, great menu, food cooked to perfection. Very welcoming and helpful staff, could not ask for more. Steak was succulent and tender, fish.. mmmmm total delight. Thank you all again
The service was excellent and the food very delicious. The relaxed ambience was particularly appealing.
Went at the weekend like we do a lot. But there is a new manager and he does not like kids which is a shame as it was always a nice place to take our kids for Sunday lunch. He also does not have a very nice personality speaks to his customers extremely rude. After 7pm the kids aren’t aloud to leave there tables and we were outside doing no harm to anybody. He was extremely rude the way he talked to us. We have been going for years and it’s always been great. Such a shame.
Great experience polite staff
Myself and one of my oldest friends keep coming back to RSH as its a great halfway meeting point for us - me from Bedford, him from Romsey. RSH is a great place, relaxed, informal, but with good food and attentive staff. No hesitation in recommending RSH
Nice place. Very disappointed with our food, went for a birthday lunch which was not great.
I had a table booked, when we arrived (at our reserved timethe table had glasses, a dirty ashtray and the table was filthy. We had to ask 3 times for the table to be wiped down. The paving slabs under the table we broken and missing so the chairs we wobbling, the number on the table to order was incorrect so our food almost went to the wrong group. I had the king prawn linguine and not only was there only 3 prawns they were definitely not king prawns! The staff were nice which is why I gave a 3 but otherwise I was totally shocked that the restaurant has gone so far down hill.
Service was impeccable. Friendly staff who made you feel welcome. Amazing food. Will definitely be recommending you to everyone.Thank you
Warm wine, staff arent the most attentive, but its a place close to my heart so I cant give it less than 5 stars! Sorry if not helpful...!
Only popped in for a drink. Had two ales at the bar, Pride and Doom Bar. Had to take them both back, neither were good. They were however good enough to refund.
My lunch was fine, my wife though had a cold burger. She asked for it to be warmed up, waited 15 minutes then we asked for the bill. At that point we were told it was ready. Better communication would have been great. She had asked for it to be reheated, that shouldnt have taken so long. If a new one was being made then that could have been communicated, along with the approximate waiting time.
Great to find a modern dining pub that offers really good service and an interesting selection of food on the menu at reasonable prices. Air conditioning was most welcome on the hottest UK day ever...We arrived early but were given a warm welcome and shown to a table. Once the kitchen opened the service was pretty rapid. Food was of a good quality and well prepared. The ONLY reason this isnt a five-star review is that duck figures substantially in the menu but was "off" for our visit - we were only informed of the lack of duck after having tried to order some.
Stop off from Kent driving to Birmingham and wow what a find. Sunday lunch was excellent and the kids meals were plentiful. Pity were over 100 miles away from this great pub/restaurant
Had a few drinks in the beer garden last weekend.Unfortunately we were charged different prices each time we ordered, but upon querying, this was promptly rectified.Big shout out to Jana- it was only her 2nd day but her cusromer service and interaction was superb 👌
Food was good, but staff need to be a bit more attentive for table service.Had bread & olives/ calamari/fish & chips/ sea bass/ chorizo, lemon posset (nearly forgot about). Costs about £25-30/ head. Parking in area problematic
Food was okay, would eat the food again. Drinks were okay too. Service was unfortunately not so hot. E.g. no steak knife with steak brought out and no steak knife brought over so had to stand up and go over to the till to ask for one. 2 knives were also missing from place setting that weren’t noticed and replaced. Tap water jug forgotten too. Generally slow, fast to move away from the table before you could ask for something else and unenthusiastic. Maybe it was just a bad day…but a shame and no real excuse as would have made the experience ten times nicer (it was an early dinner and not that busy). Overall food and drink was okay and nice enough to return if we fancied it and were ok with poorer standard customer service (we sat in the restaurant not the bar so can only speak for this area).
Been for first and last time to this pub. Ordered classic burger which was £17 and cesar salad for £10. Was expecting proper burger but was so disappointing as I could buy same burger for better quality from McDonald’s for just £5. Burger was burnt and too salty plus chips was horrible. Salad was literally just lettuce and little pieces of fish which wasn’t that great. We waited for long time to get food ready and paid a lot for nothing. Not worth it!!I WOULDNT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE AT ALL.
Met with friends for lunch we sat in the garden which was lovely. Wheelchair accessible entrance to bars and toilets and accessible toilet. Food was reasonably priced and good
Good coffee, OK service, poor food would not go back. Since this review of one our quests was very ill in the evening. To put context to the meal, the salad provided smelt awful and not eaten, the chicken was just small bits over cooked pieces, the child meal was very small, generally everything was disappointing. It was a real shame as we have been there on a number of previous occasions and found everything to be great. Maybe it was just a bad day, unfortunately for us it was the day we went.
Ive visited twice and Id describe my experiences as "hit-and-miss" The 1st time was great - all food available, great service. The second time less so - items of the menu missing, waiting staff lacking in attentiveness, long time to be asked for drinks orders after we arrived, had to ask again for my second drink to be served. I like the pub but I need to visit again to my make my mind up on whether this is a two-star or a four-start place.
Had a fantastic Mother’s Day Lunch today. From the minute we entered the Restaurant the staff were all amazing. The food on the special menu was a great mix. The food was well presented and tasted great. Thank you to all the staff for making our lunch that much better.
March 2022: Pretty good Mothers Day meal:Staff where busy, but good service once we where moved to a suitable sized table to accommodate our group. Enjoyed the set menu Duck Parfait, Roast Pork Belly. Though my partners Chocolate Brownie was 5/5 in comparison to the 4/5 for the Rum Baba. The bar area looks a nice comfy area, with open fire for a drink.
The last 2 times we’ve been in there the service has been so so slow! Forgotten about for ages. Kept having to prompt and ask for service. Both times. Gave them the benefit of the doubt after the first night we were ignored terribly. We almost walked out without eating. This time we had young kids and honestly it wasn’t that busy. Staff hanging around having a rest in other areas. Poor service. Food has been good in the past but the service has been Too slow and extremely inattentive. It makes the experience more painful than enjoyable.
this place is nice but Im not sure about the foodI ordered a chicken carvery roast from here about 2 weeks ago and I think they left my plate under a heat lamp for a whilemy Yorkshire pudding was cracking like a biscuit, my gravy was warm and my chicken was dried out. I can imagine that if Id of got the food fresh it would have been lovely as my partners pork was cooked well and tasted so nice.
Gorgeous and huge cocktails for a great price! Highly recommend and will definitely be back if in the area again. Great atmosphere too.
Dreadfully disappointed with yesterday’s fiasco at this restaurant. I have eaten there many times but totally appalled with what happened yesterday. We ordered food which took over 2 hours to come out.I literally had to tell the person at the till to find out what was happening in the kitchen Re the delay. The food we ordered was not actually served to us When we asked the waiter he just shrugged his shoulders and said the ones we ordered had run out. He was not at all apologetic and had the non verbal attitude of take it or leave … so sad really. The only positive end of the evening was a new member of staff came on duty. I felt that he was pretty shocked with what we told him and we could see that he tried his best with a total positive attitude totally apologetic. It was like a breath of fresh air and his professional attitude should be taught to the rest of the staff that were there managing the till and showing the customers to their seats and serving. Saracens you need to get your act together !!
My family and I went out to this restaurant for my mums birthday today and had booked in advance for a table of 9. Including one toddler. I was appalled at the lack of service and communication from staff at this restaurant.I felt like we were bothering staff by asking for extra drinks. And it wasn’t communicated after ordering food that certain foods weren’t available until food arrived. Food took such a long time to arrive, and with a toddler this was extremely stressful. When questioning one of the staff about this he had such awful customer service skills and had attitude about all of this. The saving Grace was a staff member who came on the evening shift who had fantastic skills and was very apologetic. I’m not sure what happened in the restaurant tonight but it was very disappointing and frustrating for the long wait but also the lack of attentiveness from staff. I’m not sure I would ever eat here again after this experience.
Midweek meal 10th Feb 22. Bad service. Staff lacked politeness and basic people skills. Less than average quality food. We were not offered dessert but when we asked for it we were told the kitchen was closed. So bad.No peppercorn sauce so we were offered another type and then told they were out of that too. A total shambles. Waiter dropped a tray and shouted f*** at the top of his voice. Staff more occupied with entertaining each other than providing any kind of service. Really dreadful experience. If anyone there had vaguely resembled a manager we would have asked for our money back.
Celebrating a recent birthday, we were so impressed with Jack and Flo on their attention to us and the amazing help we received on making our lunch choices. Fantastic atmosphere, excellent service and delicious food. The lamb platter was cooked to perfection.
Sunday dinner. Restaurant was moderately busy then quiet, we changed between four different servers and our orders of basic tap water were always forgotten, had to ask three times just to get a jug!The restaurant was very quiet towards the end of the meal and the servers were sat on the computer and ignoring us.I found the roast beef to be over cooked and tough.
Went here for dinner as it was my brothers birthday. The staff was very good and we arrived just before the dinner rush. So make sure you book in advance. They have got a wide selection of food, incl vegan menu. Food arrived very quickly and it was delicious. Would definitely come here more often
Nice place to have a diner with a family and friends. Good size portion and tasty food
We came here because there was parking available. It was a good find, however, especially because they had a vegan menu. I’m not vegan, but I didn’t fancy anything meat-heavy that evening and I was able to get lots of vegetables with the Wholefood Salad. There was a bit too much dressing, but it was flavourful and had plenty of different ingredients to make it interesting for the palate. The lentil falafels (£3 add-onwere also tasty—crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. The service was good and the decor and atmosphere were pleasant. The only thing was maybe the lighting was a little dim, which can make it challenging to read the menu for folks who rely on reading glasses. Otherwise, it was a good experience.
Gorgeous pub, friendly staff, nice looking menu. I ordered the spiced vegan curry completely enticed by the photo on the menu (top photobut when it arrived it was a far cry from how it should have been presented. The rice wasnt amazing, the little veg there was had been overcooked but the curry was tasty. Overall it was disappointing but I would go back to give it another go if I was in the area.
Great menu with lots of choice. Good portions. Desserts to die for. Very good service. Book in advance.
The starter was alright (scallopsand the main was excellent, I had the steak 😍.(fully recommend the steak)However, my dessert was not great at all. The bread pudding was still frozen in the middle, so i wouldnt recommend it.
Really nice local pub to stop for a roast if youre on your way back to London after a weekend trip.Food and service was excellent, prices werent unreasonable either...
