The Royal Hotel, Adelong in Tumut

Fantastic country pub food - stopped here for dinner after visiting Adelong Falls, ordered the lamb shanks and it was a lovely plate of food. The meat was falling off the bone, the red wine jus had just the right consistency and depth of flavour, the mash was smooth and the green beans were still beautifully green. Would definitely eat here again, its a better option than some of the more popular options in Tumut.

A frequent visitor here, VERY cold beers, cannot fault food nor service, friendly staff n patrons, no hassle sitting out front with our dog, it’s what I expect from a great country pub, long way from the “gong “

Did not stay as visiting friend in Adelong.But had fabulous steak on Sat night 21/5/2022Delicious flavour and cooked to order, perfect chips and salad.Nice friendly atmosphere and helpful cheerful staff. Will be back soon.

Came for lunch with my mum and 2 kids.Very disappointed with the service today. Waited an hour for 2 kids meals of chicken nuggets and chips and a snitzel burger and fish and chips. The chef clearly doesnt know how to run a kitchen. Anyone knows that you prioritise kids meals as soon as they come in. After 40 minutes and an enquiry to the staff, these were received. I was told by the staff that there were still a few orders in front. I have worked in hospitality for many years and no chef has ever waited until one tables order has been completed before putting on the next one.Will not be returning to this establishment

Had the best chicken prawn salad meal was huge and presentation was tops great people.

Hidden gem, I highly recommended this place, the chef is amazing n the food is absolutely to die for.

Great little pub.Loved sitting outside watching the world go by. Took a deck of cards and sat outside having drinks and taking in the ambience.Staff were super friendly and keen for a chat.Food was awesome and hard to finish.Highly recommend a night at the Royal. We will be back.

Went there for dinner Friday night and the food is amazing. Had T-bone with salad and chips and the other meal crumbed lamb cutlets..It was so nice to have old feel pub food and cold beer on tap...keep up the good work guys.. I will be back..

Pub shut no sign of life, no sign telling what pub hrs are. Camping out back very small, not suitable for anything but small solo panel van. Very disappointed!!

Awesome place, very welcoming staff. Somehow manages to be laid-back and classy at the same time. Inventive menu, suitable for vegetarians.

Great food, friendly service. The beer garden and outdoor areas are perfect for families.

Showed up at noon during the week. Was closed. Not open untill 4pm. Strange hours for the only pub in town. Neutral review as unable to enter.

Stopped off here a few times between Tumut and Melbourne. Great atmosphere and we enjoyed a beautiful steak and cold beer whilst sitting by the fireplace. Great little Pub, highly recommend it

The new chef is producing quality tasty food. Fantastic chips. The Nasi Goreng was wonderful & tasty.

I had the Chicken Parma special. Very filling and cooked really well. Plenty of jalapenos!

Went there 30 years ago was ordinary. Went back recently and what a change WOW ! Was a one horse town now a popular stopover by people from all walks of life. The Royal is becoming a trendy stopover for a drink plus the bikers on their Harlys . Well done to the local council and their improvements to the historical gold ming site.

Our visit to Adelong was enhanced by the friendly service received and the classic fresh pub food, generous serves and yummy chips. We will be back.

Caesar salad with lots if bacon and grilled chicken is the best Ive ever had. The steak was Huge and tender. Carbonara supreme. Great service and happy staff.

We arrived on a forty degree day so where looking forward to a good cold beer. The bar and our room had air conditioning which was a great relief. The room was a bit dated but was clean and for sixty dollars you couldnt complain. The meals where typical pub fair and most enjoyable l wouldnt hesitate to stay there again if in the area.👍

Went for Sunday lunch. Enjoyed by all. Good value for money. Sat outside on their large verandah.Friendly staff and we were allowed to have our dog with us.

Amazing service, amazing food, kind staff, just an all around great place to have a break when passing through, or stop and have dinner at! Also a great place to stay the night for tired travellers!

Luke very welcoming - economical room a typical pub room..overhead fan for cooling..bed clean and comfortable and opened onto verandah...handy to main street - Luke thoughtfully warned us no restaurants opened in town during the week but we were able to find enough food without travel..breakfast basic - white toast / cereal and tea. Cafe down the street...good walk to the historic goldfield site. Pretty little town to explore. the many trucks passing through the intersection out front of the hotel actually have a curfew from 10pm to 7am so you get a quiet night sleep. Parking out the back of the hotel.

An awesome pub with the best food in town. Clean and well maintained with great staff, it is an absolute credit to the proprietor Luke Hindmarsh who has really made the place something special and somewhere youd be proud to take family, friends and acquaintances to. It is very kid friendly and just a pleasure to go there.

Just love it.....great food, great service, Im glad its our local. Sunday lunch is a great break for us home cooks. Well done Luke!!!

Havent been to Adelong in a very long time (20 years), remember have a beer with my cousin and loved it.. My Uncle and cousin still live in the town and want to come down to relive some good memories.

I have eaten here a few time and they serve a good meal. very tasty and generous serving. I will continue to go when I am in the area.Well worth the try if you are in town for a meal.

My wife and I visited Adelong a few weeks back and enjoyed the very friendly hospitality at the Adelong Hotel. We stayed a couple of nights and were made to feel very much at home, especially from the super attentive barman (Aussie). It was a little cool in Adelong at that time of year, but they have a number of nice fireplaces which were very useful!
