The Rouxpour - Cajun restaurant in Friendswood, United States
Awesome service ensuring I had gluten free brunch. Food was excellent as well.
Online ordered…Just got the ahi tuna salad with shallot vinaigrette and it is FANTASTIC! It was so good I had to write this quick review!
Came in for lunch... Food was pretty good, no complaints there. Received a glass of water with a red lipstick stain. I was not wearing any lipstick. I didn’t notice until after I was drinking from the glass..yuck! Told my waiter, he was nonchalant about it, just stated “ Oh I can get you another one.” At this point No thank you, I’m good on the water. We asked for plastic ware after looking over our silverware and noticing forks just did not appear clean. Was never told they charge $3 for plastic ware. At this point, I’m a little frustrated and ask for a manager to explain my frustration. Just as nonchalant our waiter was, so was Rebecca. Apologized but honestly didn’t seem to care. The $3 is not a big deal. But customer service is everything, and I refuse to eat at an establishment that don’t put customers first. The waiter could have at least mentioned it was a charge for plastic ware to allow me the option to get a clean set of silverware or pay for plastic ware. I will not return.
I was denied entrance to this restaurant because I was wearing a crop top. It was a silk crop top paired with a long skirt- not inappropriate at all. I know this was not about a dresscode because as I walked in a man in an electrician jumpsuit walked in. This rule is simply about policing women if men can wear whatever they want. A disgrace in the year 2022.
My first visit here when we first moved into the area was not great. I would have maybe have three stars. Now it is very improved with a new general manager and an extensive bourbon selection. Ask them what is available. A lot more than just what is offered in the flights on the menu. The food has been superb recently as well. Great food, great whiskey and great service.
Food was amazing! I had stuffed shrimp....excellent! Waitstaff did a wonderful job. That made for an even more pleasant meal. I will be back!!
Went to the location in Baybrook Mann and it was the first time there and I will be back. Make reservations if youre going in the evening or the weekend to save time. Food is good and seasoned well (the red beans and rice were more of a "paste" than actual beans, hence the 4 stars but the catfish I had was wonderful and large portions! Service is excellent (we had Sara C and loved her!and the live band on the weekend was good
The food was delicious. Service was not that great, but I will still give five stars because we really enjoyed the food.
Too expensive for the steaks to not be done evenly, the middle of one was practically raw when we asked for medium rare and too red for the medium well one. The waiter was good and our glasses were never empty. I did see the manager walking around talking to people, which is rare these days.
Great restaurant in the Baybrook mall. This is our second visit on a busy Saturday night and every thing was great. Our server did a great job and the support staff was good as well. The live band singing Sinatra was a good touch.
I finally stopped in here this evening on my monthly self-care afternoon near Baybrook. My delay in coming here was mostly due to skepticism: I’ve been underwhelmed by most of the Cajun/Creole food in town. But I had a craving so today was the day. Having apparently slipped in throughout the side door, it took a few minutes before I was noticed by staff. But that was okay because I was taking in the atmosphere. At around 4:45pm the bar was empty so I happily sat there. I ordered a bourbon old fashioned and a bowl of seafood gumbo (pictured). The gumbo was exactly what I hoped for in flavor and freshness, hearty sausage, perfectly cooked shrimp and dewy bits of crabmeat throughout. For the old fashioned, I tried it with Milam & Greene Rye and was so delighted with the flavors and story of this local woman owned distillery that I decided to try some more of their bourbon. I had an ounce each of the Castle Hill Series and Single Barrel (see photos). The Castle Hill was honestly the best bourbon I’ve ever had, heavy on cherry notes and with an extreme smoothness that belied its 55 proof. The single barrel came through heavy on banana scent and would’ve gone great with my bananas foster if I had waited to drink it. That dessert (picturedwas heavenly and the kitchen was able to make it gluten free for me. (Note: they have a whole gluten free menu that’s much more than boring salads! See photo.)The bartender, James, was highly knowledgeable and made wonderful recommendations. He showed me the most extensive bourbon list I’ve EVER seen, including options for making one’s own flights. He also gave me some tastes of other bourbon. It will be lovely to sip my way around this menu on subsequent visits!I should also mention that the other customers were friendly, the restrooms were spotless, and I didn’t feel judged in there even though at 38, dressing like a mature adult human was/is NOT a feature of my self-care days. It seems to be a come-as-you-are place, though I imagine some people do dress up to visit.
We LOVE rouxpour! I havent had anything from here that I dont like. I know it seems trivial, but their garlic bread is the absolute best! We always get the fondue with extra garlic bread. You wont be disappointed!
Excellent food and service. I enjoyed the outing with my family. This is a higher class cajun restaurant that has a menu with a lot of choices. Especially for oysters which were great. We tried a number of different oyster dishes and they all were great. A little pricey though. However it is worth the price.
The appetizers was on point.. love the sauce on all the appetizers. Very nice establishment, definitely will be coming back. The gumbo was good as well!! 🥰😍
My daughter had mentioned and suggested that we should visit Rouxpour. It was my first time going. We went Saturday 7/16/2022 for brunch. The atmosphere was awesome. The host, very polite. We had great seating in a booth. The waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable of the menu items, and she gave us excellent suggestions, and her service was extremely good. THE FOOD: OFF THE CHAIN!!!!! It was delicious, Im not kidding. I had the Gumbo (seafoodand I tell you, it was GOOD with the right spices yall. We also had the stuffed boudian jalapeños and the crab patties. Everything we had was very good. I suggest and recommend this restaurant to all who desire to eat good food. They also have different types of food on the menu as well. All I can say is get ready to ENJOY!
It was our first time here and we definitely loved the food and drinks. Our server Georgie was outstanding 👌she made sure we were taken care of and not to even mention the manager Constance came to our table to see if we were having a good experience which we replied "We are loving the food and the service so she said "well desert on me, I want yall to come back" so our waitress made recommendations based on what we like since it was our first time and she did perfect (we had the Zydeco chicken and Boudin stuffed chicken for entrée for appetizer crab cakes and boudin stuffed jalapeños... drinks were great tooWe had a great experience and world class treatment 👏 👍 👌... We will see yall soon 😉 😀 😊.
James & Donovan we’re great! Any questions I had were answered in a very pleasant manner.
I love this place but just realized the happy hour is trash. Which is why its getting 4 stars. My cousins wanted to come here for happy hour and its nothing to get excited about. The drinks is only a $1 off and the food is like $2-3 off. Not worth the drive for happy hour if you ask me. Food is amazing though. Just come regular time. I wish the happy was better.
A new place on the map. The Rouxpour. If you dont like spicy this isnt the place for you. the gumbo with chicken and sausage is a nose watering spice but delicious it does have more juice then food. Thr red bean and rice is well balanced but also had a kick of heart burn brewing. My daughter got the mac and cheese it was creamy cheesy and not over powering. She ate the beans and rice I at the mac lol. For desert we ate cheese cake. The creme burle was not as expected it was not like a custard more like a watery puddling. But it is a beautiful experience. But not a place to bring babies due to the loud drinking customers.
6/30/22 Went to The Rouxpour at Baybrook Mall - there were six of us (2 were childrenfor a birthday dinner. We had excellent service - our server was Jasmine E. (Table #23She was very attentive and quick to bring us everything we needed and was wonderful with the children as well. I highly recommend this place and will ask for Jasmine when I go back.
Weve visited the Sugarland Town Center location several times, but I must say I was impressed with this location and thoroughly enjoyed my visit. They had live music and it wasnt too crowded. The fried green tomatoes are the absolute BEST! I think Ive found my new Sunday afternoon lunch and hang out spot!
Ask for Michael B to be your server!! He recommended the best whiskey & entrees. The whiskey flight allows you to try good whiskey for a great price. I had the blueberry martini and it was so sweet! I had the bayou pork ribeye and it was packed with flavor! 10/10 would recommend coming!
Fantastic food and service.Had the deviled eggs for appetizer and the stuffed shrimp for the main course. All was exceptional.Highly recommendedPictures to come on the next visit.Update! Had seafood gumbo this time with jalapeño poppers for an appetizer!!! Absolutely amazing. The desert was yummy too. Definitely a favorite now 😋
Started off with a nice refreshing drink called the sluricane. Then a dozen oysters that were fresh and good. The stuffed crab Flounder was very tasty and full of flavor. The brunch option of Pain Perdu & fried chicken was okay. They couldve used a better, thicker cut off toast but the Mardi Gras potatoes made up for that.Next time Im trying the grilled Oysters.
$25 for a hamburger ??? ANY DAY. AMAZING, MUST TRY. Its only about 3500 calories but I dont care. Great place.
Very busy on a Saturday night but the food came out fast and service was on point. I had the fried chicken po’boy sandwich. Great place.
This place is just so amazing!! I had the best time here for lunch. The service was awesome and our waitress was very knowledgeable!! The food was phenomenal!! The cost is like any other restaurant so expect about 40 to 50 bucks per person. I say it is worth a try even for one time. I will definitely be back!!
Loved this awesome place! Went for both dinner and lunch drinks/oysters. Delicious food with a NOLA flair. Delicious drinks. BUT... THE BEST- the vibe, the bar, the atmosphere, beautifully decorated (ESPECIALLY, YES. ESPECIALLY the Ladies Room!all the Instagramable spots.
We tried this place because my wife loves crab cakes, we had some catfish and oysters and a couple of beers, a very nice place and the service of Chrys soo good.
We had a great time. The food was awesome. Expect to spend some money but you wont be disappointed. Everyone at our table loved what they ordered.
Fast service on a Saturday afternoon. Vodoo shrimp are excellent. Great oyster selection.
Sunday brunch has always been "on point" at this location. Early arrival makes it even better. The hostess was super friendly and accommodating today. "Super Dave" (the waiterwas the best! He easily became my plus one when my "date" did not show. Kudos to todays customer service.
I absolutely love chargrilled oysters and they did an excellent job! I had the ones with spinach, Monterey jack and bacon. I left sooo content. I found my new favorite spot!!!
Great experience especially for Cajun Cusine. The ambience of the place is great - to celebrate special occasion, hangout with friends or colleagues.Food was great. If you are gumbo lover this is the place to go to.Staff is great and knowledgeable. Overall a great evening with friends at this place.
Food was good; service and oysters were amazing. Prices are a little higher than your normal cajun restaurant, but it is definitely worth it. Especially on special occasions and oysters cravings 😋
I wasnt sure what to expect when I found this place online. The reviews drew me in and Im glad it did. The food was fantastic as well as the service. If I didnt have to drive all the way to Houston, TX from GA to enjoy the food Id try everything on the menu. Everything we ordered was amazing, the food, drinks, and desserts were great.
My mom and I visited for happy hour and really enjoyed the food, atmosphere, and service! The happy hour menu is great and the food and drinks are very flavorful! The Cajun deviled eggs are delicious and the voodoo shrimp is fantastic! I will definitely be visiting for happy hour again!
The pick 3 is the pick 2 now, but hard to find a better lunch. The food is amazing, and the spices are the real deal. Bay Area, Sugarland, and Katy are lucky.
This is the kind of restaurant you want to take your girlfriend or propose, or your wife to celebrate an anniversary or even your boss if you want to impress. Food was too good and the service was even better. They have live jazz music every sunday afternoon. Its not cheap but its worth every penny.
I really liked it here. They food was excellent. Everything we ordered was great. The blueberry martini was oh so good. Deviled eggs and crab fingers delicious also. They had a live band playing so it was a terrific date night.
Always love the Rouxpour brunch. Wife gets breakfast and I get the lunch. Got a dozen raw oysters and seafood gumbo to start. Wife got French quarter fried eggs over boudin and cornbread with etoufee. Exceptional. I got the steak rowley to finish out the brunch. Great food and great service. Our favorite place for brunch in the area
The Rouxpour at Baybrook is an ok restaurant. I was not impressed with the hamburger. I did enjoy the gumbo and crab fingers. I would recommend trying the gumbo.
Originally we were just supposed to get drinks but the chargrilled oysters were hard to pass up. It was a nice atmosphere, not too busy not too slow. The drinks were great and the oysters were exactly what we were hoping for.
Great staff, awesome selection of foods. You can get a hamburger or you can go full on seafood. Nice place. Outdoor seating, bar, booths and high tables. Tvs with sports and super clean
Great restaurant, good food and classy! The star of the show was truly, Super Dave (waiterwho was able to recommend delicious foods but very knowledgeable about whiskey, where it comes from and quirky historic facts! Its really been YEARS since we have had such an awesome waiter!
What a great place! The food here is very good, the ambiance is warm and inviting. The staff is fun, friendly and attentive. The drinks are great and the price is right! We had a great time here and will be back soon to try more menu items. If you are looking for a great Cajun Seafood Restaurant go to The Rouxpour! ⭐️
We made reservations for dinner. I recommend you do too because they were packed! We got the Old Fashioned cocktails and they were so delicious and smooth!Every single thing we ordered was amazing. We had the Oyster Bienville, Shrimp & Crawfish Fondue, Grilled Red Fish, and the Red Beans & Rice. The Bananas Foster & Bread Pudding combo was the perfect finisher for the night. Our waiter Michael was over the top awesome. Funny, attentive, and he anticipated needs - everything you want in a great waiter. We can’t wait to go back!
Chris was great. Loved everything. The wait was a bit long, but it was a Saturday night, so that is to be expected. There was live music too that added so much to the experience. I would definitely go back when in town.
Rouxpour never disappoints! The food has delicious flavor. Steaks are always tender, flavorful and delicious. Love their Peach Tea cocktail. Love the atmosphere, music, and decor. Entire restaurant is very clean (patio, bar, inside and restrooms).
This place is actually quite good. Their boiled shrimp and oysters on the half shell during happy hour is a great value. Their oysters are amazing. As for the dinner menu i’ve never been a huge fan but I think my wife and I just weren’t ordering the right stuff. We ate their last night and our dinner was delicious. We started with appetizers that included a cup of seafood gumbo, full order of boiled shrimp and a half order of raw oysters. For my entree I ordered the Zydeco Chicken and it was amazing. For dessert we had the creme brûlée which is always delicious. The bottom line is this is a fantastic happy hour spot and a very good dinner spot if you order the right thing.
