The River Lee Hotel in Cork
Description
We had our wedding at the River Lee this summer and from start to finish, Lauren Hogan and the rest of the team were absolutely exceptional! They made everything so easy and stress free, they listened to what we wanted and did everything they could to make it happen, our families felt like VIPs all weekend long and most importantly we really had such great craic with all the staff. I have never been anywhere where literally every single member of staff has been this nice and helpful - from reception, bar, breakfast, housekeeping, etc - it was flawless!
MoreThe hotel is nice and location but the staff they felt me like they are MORE than me... Just do your jobs guys and treat all the visitors with the same respect. 👎
MoreLounge Bar discriminates and diversifies the guests!Arrived from Canada couple days ago, had long trip, walking around the city trying enjoy with my husband and 6 months old daughter, started rain and decided to take a break in this hotel, got beers and relaxing. The guy named Robert kicked us out in this crazy rain with infant!! He allowed us get in and after 10 minutes asked us to leave because it was booked! There was no any notice on the table about that! I assume they are welcome for only the chic dressed up visitors! This is Sooo RUDE for this modern world!! Horrible!
MoreHad woderfull time today in beautiful restaurant area. Food was tasty & hit all the right spots. Our amazing waitress Cicile was very helpful, kind & absolute wonderfull! Cannot wait to be back in The River Lee. <3
MoreWell done River Lee Hotel my wife and four of her friends went for dinner on Thursday 27 October food great and there server Megan was so nice and attentive could not have been any better well done Megan.
MoreLocated on the banks of Corks iconic River Lee, The River Lee Hotel is a 4 star hotel thats located at the heart of Cork city. This hotel has bathrooms with heated floors, Wi-Fi, flat screen TVs, and tea and coffeemaking facilities. The upgraded rooms add Nespresso machines and theres the executive lounge, which offers complimentary refreshments. The hotel has a restaurant, bar and a riverside terrace. Theres also a leisure centre which has an indoor pool, a hot tub and a gym. Breakfast and parking are available.I loved my experience at this hotel and would love to go there again!
MoreWasn’t a bad experience but it wasn’t polished by any means. The room seemed to be missing at least 1 piece of furniture, it was weird, like a void in the room. Another issue was some very cool lights were on in the room with no switch. The only way to get to to turn off was to pull the key out of the room key holder deal… which turned off all power to the room including ac.
MoreMyself and my wife stayed at the River Lee for one night. When we arrived and approached the check in desk Karolina greeted us and immediately there was an air of burden surrounding her. She informed us with a roll of her eyes that her computer was working slowly. We werent sure if it was this inconvenience or another issue that led to her poor attitude as she checked us in. My mother in law made the booking for us, and there was some confusion at the start with the booking. However, instead of handling the situation with professionalism Karolina acted as though we were confused school children, and approached the situation with a dismissive and offensive attitude. It was clear that Nicola was unwilling to help but thankfully Sophie stepped in an accommodated us gracefully. As my wife spoke with Sophie, I watched on as Karolina stared at her like a teenager who didnt get her way and couldnt care less about our satisfaction with the service provided. We were very displeased with the lack of compassion and customer service provided by this staff member. However, we are grateful for Sophies help and the rest of the staff at the River Lee who showed exemplary service and professionalism. Perhaps Karolina should consider that in her line of work some of her clients may be in a state of grieving, as we are. Whilst we are having a bad day we did not take it out on her and continued to smile in the hope that she would recognise our good intentions. She did not.We hope that management takes this review under consideration and only places those who are best able to deal with the public in the front of house. Other than this one poor staff member the services and amenities at the hotel are fantastic, beautiful bar and rooms in a beautiful setting.
MoreNice hotel ambience, not 5 star cosy like Ritz but comfortable, nice location.
Had a delicious lunch in the lovely terrace of The River Club. Service was excellent and dessert was amazing
MoreRoom was not clean, bed linen was stained and when we told the reception they said the would change it, we went for dinner and came back and 2 sheets were left on the bed for us to change ourselves. Seats in the room had with substance on them. Maybe this was a one off like they said but I wont be going back.
MoreFamily meal and glad we chose this. Nice interior and friendly staff. Food was axe too :)
MoreWe LOOOOVE the terrace of this hotel. Lounge atmosphere, great service & view on the river Lee...
MoreThis was probably the nicest hotel we have ever stayed at. The decor is stunning and the staff are so nice. The rooms are spacious and the bed was super comfy. We didnt even have a premium view and it was still gorgeous. Plus, it was so quiet; we didnt hear a peep from any neighbors or anyone in the hall during the entire 3-night stay, despite the fact that the hotel was fully booked. Housekeeping staff are amazing and so thorough; they even give you fresh bottled water every day. The food is also great. There is a separate space for breakfast and dinner, both of which are impeccably decorated. The continental breakfast by itself was plenty, but you could also upgrade to add-on a hot entree. We also had a delicious dinner during our stay, along with some amazing wine and cocktails. The location is also great; right near the college, and a quick walk to a bunch of good restaurants. There is on-site parking, although it is not free (but it was still nice to have the convenience). Overall, the feel of the place is just so high end and definitely five starts. We would come back in a heartbeat.
MoreSat down with a friend for a cup of tea in the lobby. We were asked to pay at the beginning. Left a sour taste. Would not recommend hotel to any one.
MoreThank you so much Hannah for looking after us. Myself and my Partner celebrated our one year anniversary and she was very attentive and kind! 10/10 will be back for our 2nd :)
Morebeautiful setting along the river, close to the city centre. Food is superb and very friendly staff.
MoreLove this hotel for the cleanliness and excellent service. One of the best hotels I have ever stayed in.
MoreWowee, what a fab place. Only there one night but wish it had been longer. Beautiful hotel and fabulous food the The Grill. All the staff were friendly and polite and the hotel is within easy walking distance to the City centre.
MoreUpdating score:- for Ireland standards, pretty good. Better than the ones Ive been after save a few things like poor breakfast.
MoreThe River Lee Hotel is a perfect place to stay in the beautiful town of Cork. The hotel is spacious, the rooms are very comfortable, the river view is amazing and for the health conscious there is a fantastic gym. The staff are very friendly. The Bar is also very nice and has a great view. It’s also, very close to many restaurants and pubs. Would recommend this place to any one visiting Cork.
MoreNice hotel, good location, bar areas have nice decor and there is a lovely pool and gym too. Staff were helpful, food was okay, nothing to write home about but not bad either. Comfortable, clean rooms
MoreGreat location, very clean hotel and rooms. Great patio, friendly staff and very helpful on where to go. Breakfast was awesome! Loved that they had crushed ice on the executive floor(5)
MoreGreat location, central and beside a scenic Riverside. Nice decor, friendly service. Good function rooms.
MoreCalled the hotel to book a brunch for 7 people and a baby. At first we were told they could not take bookings for more than 6 people but that the system was showing plenty of availability and we were encouraged to just walk in. The receptionist was nice and told me to wait see if they could book us in so I was put on hold. Then the story changed completely, they came back saying they closed the bookings for the day and all the sudden the place when from being quiet to "fairly busy". Basically we were told not to bother. My conclusion, this hotel is not family friendly and they just dont want prams and babies in their restaurant. Not happy at all with the fact they werent honest from the beginning.
MoreWe had a wonderful stay at the River Lee. The staff was very helpful, and we were greeted with a dessert for our anniversary. I loved the heated floors in the bathroom area.
MoreI can only assume there are two hotels. The one people seem to be reviewing and the one I stayed in. Mine had tired rooms badly in need of a refresh. Not bad but certainly not worth the price paid. More like a Premier Inn with notions.
MoreWe had been communicating with Lauren Hogan planning our June 8 wedding for almost 2 years. Shannon took over the last week when Lauren went on vacation but Lauren helped us arrange so much, including taxi’s at the end of reception to begin our pub crawl. I cannot say enough positive things about both Lauren and Shannon, and the entire hotel staff we encountered, ensuring that our special day went smooth. We met Shannon the day of, to see the area and map out entrances etc. The wait staff was so accommodating and on top of things. I love the staff and hotel and will definitely stay there again on our next visit to Cork. Highly recommend!
MoreVery clean, good food and great breakfast. Attentive staff and a great location! Enjoyed our stay - came for a group event and the staff was very accommodating for our group breakfasts. Recommend!
MoreExcellent hotel on the doorstep of Cork city centre. We were very well taken care of during our stay. The staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The food in the bar and restaurant was fantastic. We ate well and slept well. Absolutely no complaints. There is a good sized gym and swimming pool at the hotel. The hotel is also within easy walking distance of the city centre. We parked the car on arrival in the underground carpark and then forgot about it for the rest of our stay.I highly recommend this hotel.
MoreMy 2nd home. What can I say about the River Lee Hotel….it’s the people that make this special. The food, the service and the way the team here make you feel like you’re at home is something you can’t train for. It’s in their DNA and culture.
MoreHotel price was about double what Im normally comfortable paying, but due to Jimmy Carr coming on Saturday which hiked the Friday night demand. However it turned out value for money based on receptionist Helenas smile alone, very beautiful, courteous and helpful, recommending several things for me to do in the area. The restaurant serves excellent food, and the hotel is connected to NRG gym and pool, which can be overcrowded based on public membership demand.Location is a short walk into the city centre. WiFi is excellent. Would have liked breakfast included when paying over £800 for 3 nights.
MoreEven though everyone who worked at the hotel was as nice as possible, the hotel is not great. We had a bad experience with a broken toilet, tv that did not work ( and no one at the hotel who could fix it), no valet, no help with baggage and an overpayment of parking. For weary travelers, I would not recommend.
MoreFood excellent. Attention to detail great. Staff couldnt do enough..irish hotels service is amazing 👏..
MoreWe just went for breakfast (didnt stay), the choice and the quality of the food are second to none. The staff were very friendly and very attentive. If Im ever to go back to Cork this place is on top of list of places to stay
MoreI didnt stay in the hotel but I did eat there three nights while travelling for work.Ill start with the positives. The staff were polite, especially Molly. The food was pretty good however the menu is a bit limited. The negatives.Getting the attention of the staff when you wanted to order food was not easy. Getting their attention to order another drink during your meal was even worse. The staff seemed to deliberately ignore you staring off into the distance as they walked passed your table. That was not the worst part. After getting frustrated and calling a member of staff over and asking them for a drink. We were told they would be back in a moment. They never returned. This was a pattern with most of the staff ignoring us when we tried to get their attention on every night exceptthe first when molly was working. When we complained to the manager on the last night she said "its hard to get well trained staff". Shifting the blame to her subordinates. Not only is this bad practice. She was the staff member who had told us she would be back in a moment and never returned. Clearly there is a management issue in this restaurant
MoreWe were working in Cork for three nights and ate in the River Lee Hotel each night. The bar/restaurant is very well presented and the service, when you get to speak to someone, is polite and friendly. The menu is quite limited but the food is lovely and also well presented. However, the organisation of the floor service is best described as chaotic. There does not appear to be any zoning of tables amongst the staff resulting in floor staff running around like headless chickens and deciding for themselves who should be served or ignored. Two of our three experiences resulted in having to complain that we simply could not place an order or even pay our bill on the final night. On the last evening, we complained to a manager who promptly blamed her staff. This is an absolute no, no, in my book as the problem in the River Lee Hotel is purely a management one. A single visit to this establishment by anyone interested in service provision would quickly identify where the problem arises in the River Lee Hotel. Its a pity that this culture of avoiding eye contact at all costs has been allowed to be fostered in what is otherwise a worthwhile place in which to dine and relax
MoreFantastic hotel, great views over the river. Parking under the hotel, staff are really helpful and food in the river club is excellent. I stay every month for work.
MoreMy stay at the Fiume Lee has been really pleasant. Ive spent three nights in the hotel and both the cameras and services were great.Very clean, good express breakfast, really nice catering for the events.Very small note: water pressure and temperature in the shower not allways consistent. Will definitely suggest
MoreOne of the best hotels in Cork, if not the best. The staff are very friendly and well trained. The food is fantastic and the breakfast the BEST Ive ever tasted in a hotel. The rooms are very modern and clean.
MoreI am very disappointed with my stay here. After contacting the hotel a few times now with a promise the general manager would get back to me he has not made any contact whatsoever.I stepped in glass on the evening that I stayed in the hotel at the bar. A staff member bandaged over glass lodged in my foot. I was brought to a&e had to get the glass removed and a tetanus shot. I was using crutches for weeks .The hotel has completely ignored me.
MoreA really great hotel staffed by some of the best ( friendliest, efficientstaff, starting with Maria on the front desk, who made check-in what it is supposed to be... A non-event.The following morning breakfast was directed to our satisfaction by Andreas. Later that day we put both Ali and Lucas to the test with some demanding cocktails, their expresso-martini concoctions were truly excellent. A top class hotel, certainly on our must return list.
MoreWe stayed for 2 nights and had a really enjoyable stay! Everyone was very welcoming. A big shout out to Mollie in the bar for her friendliness and attentiveness, she was super! It was lovely to have breakfast cooked to order and everyone was really happy with what they got.It is unfortunate that you have to pay for parking on top of your stay but we would still highly the hotel
MoreFabulous hotel. Luxurious and good value for what you are paying for. Our room gave us panoramic views of the city of Cork and the River Lee. The TV in the room was huge and the bathroom suite include a shower and bath. The gym facilities are very modern and high spec. You were able to join classes from the hotel for free and I found this a nice touch. The restaurants served incredible food. We would recommend trying the Riverside restaurant and the breakfast service. The front of house for breakfast was the best service in the hotel. Very personable and took pride and care in making the customers have the highest standard of service. Please pass on our regards and commend his service.A great stay and will stay again.
MoreI did not stay at the hotel (as I live in Cork!but for the restaurant; Laura was our waitress for our meal this Valentines and she was so friendly and chatty, with very good attention to detail, and confidently spoke about what we couldnt decipher on the menu options. The atmosphere was so comfortable and the hotel is quite chic. Would really recommend for a special occasion.
MoreNo free on site parking for people making use of the services is a bit of a shame. Ended up parking over at Fitzgerald park for free.Service was good, promptly shown to our table.Orders were taken fast. Food arrived fast. Selection of non alcoholic cocktails was poor and overpriced. The burger was fine. The battered fish was odd, one piece had the skin left on the other did not. The deserts were nice.Floor surface was not level so the table and chair rocked
MoreOur stay at The River Lee Hotel last October was wonderful. Thelocation was perfect for the short time that we were able to enjoy the City of Cork. The dining service was very good, and the bar service and atmosphere were equally enjoyable.I would like to point out the very much appreciated helpfulness of one particular staff member, Denis Murphy. Where others had tried to resolve an issue of locating a lost item, it was Denis who maintained contact and gave an extra effort that made for quite a relief when the items were returned to me. Sorry for the delay....but THANK YOU!
MoreI cannot praise this hotel and the staff highly enough. I was booked in for two nights with my Mum and a friend while getting minor outpatient surgery in a nearby hospital. So it was important to me to feel looked after and this is exactly my experience-despite staff not knowing our reason for staying. The hotel, including the room was spotless. The food was very good- the Eggs Benedict for breakfast is delicious! The decor and ambiance everywhere is attractive, cosy and inviting yet modern. And every member of staff was warm and friendly without being over familiar-professional to the last. A particular mention goes out to the lovely Helena at reception who gave us a late checkout and showed care and attention beyond expectation. The final, very thoughtful touch was a plate of petit fours as a welcome back to the room present following early morning surgery. I will stay nowhere else when I am back in Cork. Bravo everyone in The River Lee Hotel.
MoreHad some great acts this Jazz festival not possible to get a table unless staying in hotel. Tables possible in side room/covered area but hard to hear music. Staff very attentive and hard working food excellent. Not the best spot for music lovers maybe just an Irish thing where people talk over people trying to entertain. Or maybe the hotel management could have done a much better job it should not be all about the music of the tills.
MoreWhat a stunning hotel! We stayed here for 3 nights and absolutely loved every second. The dinners and breakfasts were delicious, staff were so friendly and the rooms were fabulous. The whole hotel was done up so modern and just has a really nice atmosphere to it. The garden terrace was fab as well. Loved how classy everything was it just had no faults we didn’t want to leave! The underground parking is free and an amazing addition to this hotel. Right in the heart of the city too, can’t recommend more! Thanks guys
