The Rising Tide - Restaurant in Tauranga, New Zealand
Initially overwhelmed by the beverage options staff made my selection easy and settled on my third option the XPA it was significantly unique and left me impressed. The dumplings were generous, tight and perfectly cooked worth coming back for more. The location was a little out of the way I was a lucky to find on the maps app on a wet night. Highly recommended.
A nice pub to have a beer and some food. An extensive range of beers to choose from.
The food here is amazing, full of flavour, good selection for vegan aswel. We visited with my son while on vacation from the U.K.I think we ordered pretty much everything from the menu. The drinks choices were good also. Happy funky vibe, nice place for the younger generation.
Fantastic dumplings and great ambiance! Highly recommend the pan-fried prawn dumplings and the deep-fried mushroom dumplings.
This place is epic. Endless beers on tap and the dumplings are great too, unreal value and atmosphere.
Great little locally owned, 2nd generation brewery with an awesome beverage selection of nearly 40 different tap options to choose from including beers, ciders and RTDs.Food is served from Johnny’s dumpling house which was also delicious. They offer a wide variety of dumpling options with the option to choose its cooking style (pan fried, deep fried or steamed). They also offer burgers, tacos and various bar snacks to share such as salt n pepper calamari, cheese and gravy curly fries and jalapeño poppers.Would highly recommend.
Two of us had dumplings and cauliflower wings. One had a deconstructed burger and the fourth person had a burger. Cant speak for the others but we loved the dumplings and cauliflower.Definitely on our return to list.
Excellent friendly staff. Such a shame parking isnt better but didnt stop our group from a great night. Thanks 👌
1. Been told to move my car as soon as I walked in, and there is no sign of no parking in where I parked.2. Coming from a country where we eat dumplings weekly, the dumplings here taste and look very average.3. Slow service4. Try to order burgers to takeaway, been told we cannot. However we ordered dumplings and they come in takeaway box anyway???5. Staff coughing without masksDon’t make me go on
Rising tide has great food, live music and drinks. I’m a jalapeño popper conneseiur and they were the best!
Went here 2 days in a row as we enjoyed the beer and dumplings! Beer tasting paddles were awesome and reasonably priced so we knew what we liked. Herby prawn and beef & ginge dumplings were so good we had them the second day! We look forward to coming back again, thanks team!
Seriously good beer team. I always struggle to choose what to drink when you’ve got a million beer taps in the wall but the server was really helpful and led me to the cloudy XPA… very happy to sit on that. Good dumplings too. Good place to sit in the sun … I had the kids with me but will come back and give the beer a serious hoon next time. Thanks.
Excellent service, good was fresh and hot, suprised with the quality of the steamed pork bun and deep fried dumplings, curly fries are also a must, so curly, i dont drink but they had a good selection of drinks l&p was noce and fresh ☺️ do recommend, would also like to add was the first time trying dumpling and would definitely go again. Thanks rising tide for the beautiful dinner and free drink at the end of the night 🤭
Not sure what happened to this place. Great atmosphere but the food has gone downhill and the prices up. What used to be a juicy plump beef burger was now a sad frozen style patty that was only half eaten. My daughter arrived home and vomited. Not much to chose from on the menu that’s not cooked in oil. I’d come back for a drink but that’s all.
Awesome beer and food, special shout-out to Katie who makes the best espresso martini’s
One of the best places to eat and drink in NZ. The beer selection in particular rivals that of any Ive experienced anywhere in the world. They also make some excellent unique ciders and well crafted cocktails which Ive found to be a rarity in this area. Super friendly team working there too. Highly recommended 😀
Delicious dumplings, fast service, great range of uniques beers and ciders on tasting paddles. Loved the variety of food and a few salad/ veg options to add to a meal. Nice customer service, heaters on tables outside and live music 👌
Amazing food great atmosphereIf you have a craving for all things dumplings and beers this the place to go very friendly staffPays to book in advance as it gets packed here but so worth it
#142 on world brewery tour! Lorine (sp?and Drew make a great crew! Very friendly and generous with their time! Excellent brews and yes the dumplings are to die for!
The drink area awesome, the food amazing and portion sizes are great. Gotta try the full range of ciders.
Thank you! Well organised joint, awesome staff! Have just finished a mean feed. Food never disappoints and awesome value! Thanks again guys, will be back again 😁
Super yum food! Especially the herb prawn dumplings! I brought my dog with me and he was offered a water bowl. Service was super nice
Amazing service , staff brought the vibes. Dumpling were to die for . Hands down my fav place . Girl on the door was so sweet .
This place never fails to disappoint. The Beers are always on point. The Best in the Bay.. All about dem new Cauli tacos as well 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼. Staff are always helpful and very cheerful even through the tough times. Place is very well managed.. Well done all round!!!!!
Great place to go with friends and recommend trying the Cider tasters. Easter rules were frustrating but the good food and cider made up for it. We did get some cold fries but once we advised the staff they apoligised and immediately brought a fresh hot batch. Well done to the staff for acknowlegding mistake and fixing it without fuss. Cant wait to go back without the pesky Easter rules.
This place is a good social bar with great range of craft beers but I feel like they should either choose food or bar, they definitely don’t succeed in offering both. This is the third time ive come and they have run out of atleast 3 of the dumpling flavours. It’s annoying if you’re in a big group as you have to go back and choose something else which is then also sold out. They should let us know what is available before we sit down to avoid disappointment. They’re pretty poor at table service and giving water, napkins, sauces. The dumplings and pork buns were averrraaaggeee And food came out in random orders and took awhile.
was ok but tacos were lacking in flavour and imagination
Great spot, excellent variety of beer
Been wanting to check this place out since I moved to Tauranga, but after tonight I wont be in a hurry to go back! Both my Friend and I have a background in Hospitality so we know the ins & outs but & we were both appalled by the waitress attitude that "greeted" us - she was downright rude! The place wasnt overly busy but we had to ask if we could even order a drink so ordered food as well just in case. After waiting nearly 45mins after we finished our 1st drink & had a table full of uncleared dishes we decided to flag a 2nd drink (something we never doand leave. The 3 starts are for the Mushroom dumplings, calamari & fejoa G&T which were all delicious, unfortunately it was the lack of Customer service that left the bad taste.
Great place to go for a quick meal and a few beers. The server was a lovely young guy. The dumplings were so good. I will certainly go back next time I’m in The Mount
The staff were amazing......We booked a table on 30th January - the restaurant was super busy with queues to enter, unfortunately they didnt have any record of my booking. They couldve left it there and turned us away - as we were holding up others waiting to enter, but they didnt. The staff were amazing! They apologised and did their best to find us a table. Despite a huge queue, they didnt fluster and gave us exceptional service. Once they found us a table they provided some free drinks to apologise for the confusion. The food was fantastic, the service was awesome, the beer was brilliant. Exceptional service - when you can turn a moment of confusion in to a real positive. Thanks to the restaurant and staff for your care and service.
Quick to find us a table (less then an hour when super busy). Followed all the covid restrictions thoroughly which was very reassuring. The food was delicious and the variety of beer is awesome. Great night out.
I like the ambience of this place. They have a lot of beers on tap and you can even do a beer taste platter if you can’t decide. Seems like they are pretty busy during happy hour with a lot of happy hour deals I see on the walls but we came here during lunchtime. Overall the food was just ok. If you’re here just for the beer and table snacks, I would recommend this place but if you’re here for the food, don’t have too high expectations. We ordered the BBQ pork buns and pork & prawn dumplings. These were my biggest disappointment because I read some reviews saying their dumplings were awesome. No they were not. The skin on the dumplings were so thick and the fillings in the buns were so little. The filling vs bun ratio on the pork buns was just sad. On the other hand, the onion rings were good and the wok begets were ok as well. That’s why I would say this place is a good bar spot. Not so much a restaurant spot for me.
Have been here a few times. In terms of service quality, its a mixed bag, quite inconsistent. Might be ace, or sub-par, just depends on the staff working on the day.The food is average, burger and chips fare. The range of beers is really good and the ciders arent bad either.
Their dumplings were dam good 👍 😋 👌 And this place is the only one checked the vaccine pass very accurately. They asked ID to compare check. Very trustable.
Great selection of beers and ciders on tap. Love a place where you can grab multiple different sours. The curly fries are off the hook. Dumplings also pretty great. Service can be slightly inconsistent but mostly because of huge crowds. We’ve been delivered wrong food a few times, waited for a long time etc. Does not diminish a really cool place, popular for a reason.
At least 35 craft beer taps with no need for nervousness in asking to try a few samples before deciding. As for the dumplings, before visiting we thought it sounded like a weird gimmick but they were pretty good and full sized and made more sense once we saw the dumpling shack inside. Cheeseburger was also good. Loved being able to sit outside at night under the heat lamps as it had a nice atmosphere with the strings of lights.
Great place to spend a few hours, ciders and beers at a great price and the dumplings are to die for
YUM! Great food with Johnny dumplings, fantastic range of beers and ciders. Friendly atmosphere. Allowed dogs in outside part. 👍
Great food and service is great. One thing I liked was the fact we could order on the app and avoid the queues. Went there for my daughters 16th birthday with some of her friends. They allow under control 18’s til 9:30 then out.The dumplings are something else and there steamed pork buns mmmm. A must go.
Large selection of beer on tap they brew, lots of variations and flavors to pick from along with a bunch of guest brews that changes once in a while. They have live music and plenty of seating but it also gets full quickly. The food was really good and pretty different from typical pub food.
My mother in-law ordered fish and chips, but they were cold , the fish was rubber like. Our burgers sounds good , but were also cold.Nice family establishment, friendly staff, they refunded my mother in-laws meal which was good .So maybe we were unlucky? Two stars as it is what it is.
Love this place! Even great for families as the kids love to run around on the field next door. Usually has live music and the dumplings are delicious.
Dumplings: goodBurger: badCamembert and cranberry: goodSteam buns: bad *please see photo of empty steam bun. This is literally before I ate any. Steam bun of lies.Lemon lime bitters: worst ever *please see the attached photo comparing two "Lemon lime bitters"... where is the consistency?Service: What service?2 stars.
It was very disappointing, pan fried dumplings(take awaywere burnt badly. Not edible. And others skins were very hard to chew. Not happy, wont going back.Edit-so i uploaded couple of photos of blackened dumpling and they keep disappearing from this review. Now i cant even trust google review lol
The dumplings and dim sums is legit. Packed with fresh ingredients and flavor and cooked beautifully. Love the beers they offer as well. Great vibe to the place, nested in a industrial zone, felt like an adventure just looking for the place. Not the most friendly and attentive staff though, hence minus one star
What we enjoyed about this place were the pork dumplings and the beer. The dumplings actually seemed too big at first, but they turned out to be very tasty. There was a nice selection of craft beers on tap and we enjoyed the ones we chose. What we didn’t like about this place was the noise. It was a cold day so we sat inside, and every couple of minutes a loud compressor would run. It was really annoying because it would be on for awhile, then finally stop and just when we’d start to relax, it would start up again. It really set us on edge, and to make it worse they were also playing music a bit too loud. And for some reason they had a TV on with no sound, which was visually distracting. I don’t know if they run this compressor all the time or if we just happened to pick the wrong day to come here, but it ruined an otherwise nice atmosphere and a nice meal. Incidentally, the service wasnt friendly, but I suspect they were also on edge because of the unpleasant noise. We thought we might come back and sit outside, but with so many hard surfaces it was also pretty loud even though there were only a few people talking. We never returned.
Pretty good food and very reasonable prices. Also if you are there from 16:00 to 18:00, it is happy hour meaning youll save a dollar on certain beers. A very decent selection of beers for sure.
Cool location with great food, atmosphere and friendly staff. Was very busy but found a seat and caters well for being busy. Definitely worth checking out and their dumplings are amazing! 👌👌👍👍
Forty odd beers on tap, tasting trays available. Delicious and reasonably priced food - both the snapper burger and dumplings were great. Great atmosphere.
