A 6-minute walk from the city's Roman Baths, this quaint pub with rooms is also 8 minutes' stroll from both the Theatre Royal and the Thermae Bath Spa's rooftop swimming pool. The classic, country-style rooms come with en-suite bathrooms, flat-screen TVs, and tea and coffeemaking facilities.Complimentary continental breakfast is offered for overnight guests. The pub's quaint restaurant serves classic fare and has a flat-screen TV. There's also a laid-back bar with a covered terrace, and a cosy lounge with a fireplace.
Stunning Sunday Roast today…highly recommend it. Great hosts also.
The owners were so very accommodating and helpful to us travelers. The room was quite lovely, and its hard to beat breakfast and dinner right downstairs.
Trying to remember if this was The Rising Sun Pub I used to visit about 20 odd years ago?? There were to bars as you walked in. The one to the right was smaller and had a pool table.
Went here for drinks and the roast dinner. We wanted to try the roast dinner because we heard it was one of the best in Bath ... and it certainly was! Very tasty, fabulous and friendly staff and a great location. Would highly recommend you try this great wee pubs Sunday roast!
AVOID AVOID AVOIDFOUR IN A BED 2017Watch before staying here! They’re completely rude, they judge people just by their clothing.Genuinely thinking they’re higher class than everybody else. (The goal is to be rich, not look rich).I’ve just watched the episodes containing these such vile classist creatures. From my point of view, your dress sense is complete trash and if I saw you both in public I’d genuinely assume you lived in a flat waiting to fade away.
My wife and I had a wonderful Sunday lunch in the courtyard here on our first day in Bath. The appetizers and mains were delicious and came in very generous portions. The owners were very friendly and even provided us with recommendations for other pubs to try in town. Bonus: they have a sweet little shop dog who came to greet us when we walked in the door.
The service was wonderful and very accommodating. The owners were so pleasant to chat with! The bathroom had a fair amount of water damage but the rooms were very clean.
Great location lovely people and a lovely breakfast. Would go again.
This Inn becomes so special for me as it accepts pets especially dogs. I booked two nights here last week. The room is large, clean, neat, and full of sun light. Although the staff are friendly to my dogs, my responsibility as the dog owner is to keep the room clean.Breakfast is nice especially the coffee. They brew a fresh coffee not the instant one. Very recommended!
Had my wedding meal here yesterday. The food was excellent, reasonably priced with a great atmosphere. We all had the best time. I kicked off my shoes as my feet hurt and although I was walking around lots. My feet werent even dirty
Super comfy bed, great breakfast and friendly, helpful host
Lovely couple, who run a cute inn with a lot of pride in their b&b. Although I can see how some guests can have a fantastic time here, unfortunately I didnt. Here are some +ves and -ves:+ we didnt know that their check-in closes at 6pm, and had planned to arrive at 6:30pm, and they waited for us out of courtesy+ Lovely welcome and show around the inn by the husband+ nice breakfast- limited check-in time, 2pm to 6pm- we asked for a halal breakfast in advace and were declined the request- we asked for a particularly clean room, and were declined the request as "all rooms are clean"- I found a blonde hair in the bed sheets, which seems to be for the person who made the beds as the sheets were quite clean and did not suggest being pre-used.- in the breakfast room, the owners dog was wandering around and I wasnt comfortable with that as I have a phobia of dogs. When I politely asked the owner not to keep the dog in the breakfast room, she said oh tomorrow Ill leave her upstairs. I asked "what about today?" She said "she lives here you know!". She attempted to keep her at the corner of the room, but made me feel quite uncomfortable, and most importantly, unwelcomed. I couldnt finish my breakfast midway as her interaction was quite unpleasant.- next morning as I was peacefully having my breakfast, I had a terrible fright in the gut when I found the dog right by my feet, again! Then again when the host was serving me tea, the dog came with her at my feet, quite disrespectful at this stage! Im thinking they might have read my review in the morning and planned a revenge! Hehe- strange smell, specially around the staircase areaIn short, if you are a dog lover, a non-halal meat consumer, then youll probably feel much more welcome than those who dont quite fit the bill.
We ate Sunday lunch here. Superb meal rare to enjoy a roast away from home with such flavour and quality. Great hosts.
Absolutely brilliant weekend , amazing food staff & owners so friendly & helpful. Great location for the town *****
We booked a two night stay and had a family room. We were 3 adults and the room had plenty of room for all of us. It was very clean and the owners and staff were very friendly and helpful. An excellent continental breakfast and we eat there in the evening. The menu was quite extensive and the food was delicious. The location is superb, near eveything. I would recommend the Rising Sun and will definitely stay there again. Thank you for a very pleasant break.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here .Very comfortable room.friendly staff and excellent breakfast.
Good beer choices London Pride was excellent. My friends had Pork Belly very generous portions and I enjoyed fish and chips.
Visited as a large group for Sunday roast. Lovely clean, warm and welcoming space. Roast was stunning and were very good at accommodating to my gluten free (coeliacrequirements - the chef rang me prior to booking too. I was able to eat meat, vegetables and roast potatoes like everyone else and was made gluten free Yorkshire puddings and cauliflower cheese. A special gluten free crumble was even made for pudding. Super impressed and would highly recommend. Everyone else in my party was very impressed with the food and service also.Thank you
Such a wonderful central place to stay when visiting Bath. Extremely friendly hosts, lovely spacious room, and great location. Loved the little touches, like proper milk for drinks in the room and the little tour on arrival. Breakfast was lovely and the Sunday lunch was amazing! Definitely recommend and would stay here again. Thanks for a lovely stay!
Hearty food, warm atmosphere and service. Plus cosy interiors. Really enjoyed a relaxing evening here. Thank you to The Rising Sun Inn.
Had a Trafalgar Night Dinner. Food fabulous, lots of it. Mine hosts very friendly made everyone welcome.
Lovely location really clean rooms, great breakfast ideally located for exploring Bath. We have just stayed for 2 nights and would highly recommend
Stayed at the rising sun inn in August with my family and our weimaraner Harry as its dog friendly , we had a great time , breakfasts were very nice , owners werereally nice and their dog 🐕 was good enough to put up with our dog, location is ideal as right in the heart of bath ,would definitely stay again if in the area.
Booked a one night stop over stay for my husbands 60th birthday on our way to a family birthday weekend couldnt have chosen a better place to stay, The owners are amazing nothing is to much trouble the rooms are spotless and the food is first class with vegetarian options catered for my husband was presented with a birthday dessert at dinner with a candle a wonderful surprise from the owners millie the dog and the inn cat wander around making it homely and friendly we will return he and recommend it highly if you plan a stay in bathPauline and vance
Great food, great service and the additional hosts (cat and dogwere simply adorable. A lovely hidden gem in the centre of Bath. Thank you
The rising sun inn is a great place to stay in bath! Staff were very accommodating and friendly and were very informative on what to do and see in bath. Breakfast was great and the room was super comfy. Millie was also very cute. Would definitely recommend staying here if you visit bath
We initially visited The Rising Sun a couple of years ago and had such a fabulous time, its now our absolute go to place whenever we visit Bath. The location couldnt be better, as its slap bang in the heart of town, but on a quiet little backstreet. All the rooms beautifully furnished, spotlessly clean and filled with light. The breakfast is superb and the hosts Lorraine and Norman are both welcoming and very accommodating. Were already planning our next visit!
A wonderful welcome, as always from Norman and Lorraine. Clean, attractive rooms, comfy beds, first class breakfast and dinner and only a stones throw from the centre of Bath. No wonder we keep coming back!
Very nice hosts. Great room. Norman is the best chef.Lorraine is a very welcoming person. But Millie is the best. Will definitely return.
Delightful patrons. Norman and Lorraine were very friendly and welcoming. The food was absolutely delicious. Great atmosphere. Thoroughly recommend.
September 2020...being honest we got this for a great price on booking.... com, However we were reminded about this fact by the land lady / chef in the morning checking out. Ideal location for city centre, Only 2 minutes walk and your at the bridge into the centre. We stayed in room 1. Check in was easy. We parked outside and texted to pay for parking for a few hours while we walked around. Cost about £4, Until the room was ready then we were given a parking pass for a small returnable charge. Liked the downstairs bar and eating space. All covid friendly. Like all places closes at 10pm but if you want to come back later they give you a key to get in. Our room (#1was easy to get to. . Very very squeaky bed. Even squeaked just by me breathing. Im sure they can sort that easily enough. Breakfast was nice enough. Continental is included in the price but for a few extra pounds you can upgrade to a cooked breakfast. Served promptly and tasty. Breakfast served 8 till 9.30. Overall worth the price. your looking at between £70- £90 for a double bed only down side squeaky bed for us. .Plus if your used to a queen or king sized bed ours was just a normal double bed. Nothing wrong with that but if you sleep with a duvet stealer beware... everything else was on point and worth the price paid. Good beer. Wifi included. Nice people who run it. Glad we chose to stay here. Hope you like my honest review.
A clean and comfortable place to stay, a few 100 yards from the centre of bath. A really nice evening me and a good quality cooked breakfast. Friendly staff. Would stay there again.
Great location in bath. You can park on the street right outside (if you can find a space, we didn’t have a problem), using a permit from the hotel for £5 per day. Comfortable room, very quiet. Friendly and accommodating staff. Tasty continental breakfast in the morning. Good COVID measures.
Fantastic location and great kitchen! Very helpful staff. Very clean and comfy rooms!Lovely place to eat, drink and rest! The staff is paying great attention to covid 19 measures. We really enjoyed our stay.
Really nice location, very comfortable, clean rooms, very welcoming, dog friendly and great breakfast. Recommend booking direct for a free breakfast.
Couldn’t have improved on this stay at all. Staff were very friendly and welcoming and gave us a very thorough tour which included an out of hours access route (which was ideal as we wanted to see the night life a bit). We were also given a parking permit which not a lot of places do. The room was lovely and very clean, tea and coffee facilities provided and an amazing rain shower which was very powerful. We enjoyed a drink in the hearty bar downstairs and had a lovely breakfast in the morning. Overall a super stay with very attentive and thoughtful staff in a great location. Will definitely be back and would recommend it to anyone looking for somewhere to stay in Bath.
We dined there for Sunday roast recently and were treated to an amazing meal. The staff were so friendly, attentive and professional. We were a group of 10 and we all will be back again.
This is a lovely Pub restaurant Staff were friendly and chatty. Service was excellent and the food very good. I would happily go back again. Enjoy !
Stayed here for one night and could not have been happier. The owners were very sweet and really made this place a delight to stay at. The breakfast was phenomenal with an option to pay a little extra to get some hot food from the grill. I would definitely recommend to take them up on the small upcharge!!!For those traveling, the owners were very nice and let us check out and keep our bags there for the whole day while we roamed about the city doing touristy things. We were able to give them a call on their personal phones when we needed to grab our bags to catch our train. Could not have had a more pleasant experience!!
Nice people, clean and pleasant premises; just a bit more basic than it looks on the website. Good size family room, could have done with at least one lamp. Stayed on a Monday so quiet until the bin lorries arrived early Tuesday morning but convenient location and helpful parking arrangements. Book direct for better rates and to avoid paying extra for cooked breakfast.
The super friendly welcome on check-in by Tanya couldnt have been better. The bed was one of the comfiest I have ever slept in. And the roast dinner was absolutely perfect, chicken cooked to perfection with all the trimmings, beautifully presented, seasoned just right, just delicious. I will be back soon. Thank you for such a wonderful truly British experience.
After searching high and low for accommodation for 14 ladies I finally found this place & I’m so pleased i did! It’s a lot of pressure booking accommodation for others, as everyone has different budgets, expectations etc. But everyone loved this place!... such a relief!!The owners are so friendly & very flexible! We had pub lunch here which was lovely & we were allowed to hold our floral crown workshop at the table with no additional charge which was fab! The owners couldn’t do enough for us, ordering in pink prosecco specially, happily catered for a few Vegans, allowed us to add on last minute guests with a small charge for an additional z bed, allowed us to put up balloons & decorations etc! Can’t recommend enough !x
7 May 2019. We were really surprised because its a centuries old building, but our room and bathroom were re-modeled. Big windows in a large room looking out on a busy but quiet street. Good lighting for bedside reading. Good receptacles for plugging in the smart phone chargers, etc. (takes a type G UK 230v plug). Its a close walk to the bank, the post office, the Roman Baths, coffee shops, shopping. The room included a cooked English Breakfast. Delicious. We paid for a reasonable dinner too, and that was good. The owner/manager is very helpful.Parking is the only "slight negative": you find street parking, hopefully within two or three blocks and get a placard from the Rising Sun to put in your car window, so you dont get a ticket. The placard is 5 GBP a day, quite reasonable considering how close you are to downtown Bath!PHOTOS - River 1-2 minute walk from hotel. Roman Baths - 4 min walk.
What a great way to feel like you are a part of a British family. Staying in this charming B&B was a treat.Very clean comfortable rooms with lots of space.Despite Bath having so many great restaurants we ate there twice.Terrific fish and chips and the owners Lorraine and Butch are gems. They cannot do enough for you.A great choice in a lovely city.I stayed with my teenage boys and they loved it.
Incredibly rude service, we were made to feel like we were lucky to be there. The lady manager demanded we gave two of our partys seats back after theyd finished eating but not everyone had finished. The roasts were served in two parts, not sure that was intentional. Avoid, so many better places in Bath.
Nice local pub with a good atmosphere for a prematch drink before watching bath rugby. Selection of well kept beers. Doombar, Tribute and Atlantic on when we went in.Also has a no frills , inexpensive pub food menu, best to book on a bath rugby home game day
I went to the Rising Sun Inn on Saturday as part of a group of 17 people. We were welcomed with open arms and were seated and served very quickly. We had a glorious three course dinner followed by port, tea and coffee. The roast beef dinner was the best beef dinner Ive ever had. The staff did a really good job and made our party feel really special.
Good spacious pub. Very friendly and welcoming. Outside beer garden is nice to sit out in. Drink prices are average, is always a good rugby pub to venture to before and after a game.
5 of us ate here before going to an event at the Bath comedy festival, held at Bath Rugby. It is just a few steps away from the stadium. The food, service and drink were great. You also reserve a table, though we were lucky enough to have a whole bar to ourselves, probably because of the time of day.
Were locals and dropped in as we were passing.Nice refurb. Real fire!! Great pint of Bass and friendly new landlord. This should turn into a very nice pub - will review again in 4 weeks
