Description
Privilege
Lunch here was absolutely amazing. The decor is delightful, service was wonderful, and the food was spectacular. I could not believe how many years I have worked right down the street and never knew how fabulous this place was!! Unbeatable pricing and service- will be a new regular here!
MoreJust wonderful! Thank you for a great experience!
Really good food! Excellent service! Students were great!
We went for an open house tour today and it was wonderful. The staff are knowledgeable and professional and the school itself seems very well run.
MoreThe service is phenomenal. The food was very impressive same thing you would expect in a high-end restaurant. The amount of food was very small but very rich so you will be filled.
MoreGreat service. Good selection. Beautiful atmosphere. Great parking. A wonderful experience.
MoreGreat food, Great atmosphere,Great prices. Cant wait to go back.
Such a beautiful space to have an event. Its different rooms but this one was my favorite.
MoreAwesome Culinary Camp. My son enjoyed the experience
Great food along with a great staff!
Not the place to go to if you are an adult returning to school. Geared towards young students, with very little knowledge. I learned more in a one semester baking course in a Community College, than I did in one semester here. I inquired about testing out of basic baking courses and they couldnt or wouldnt accommodate.
MoreDelicious food, cool ambience and excellent service
The restaurant school serves delicious food and beverages. Whether for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Gourmet food right outside your front doors and within your reach. Ive had many of their fine cuisine and Ive always enjoyed them. Pastries made fresh daily. Birthday cakes made to order along with other baked treats. Open to the public of course, for all to enjoy the selection of food and beverages. If you like, you can have dinner Tuesday through Saturday after you make a reservation. Dinner is served in their spacious courtyard setting along with three other dining sections where you can enjoy your gourmet meals in a friendly and enjoyable setting. Cocktails also served in the bar section served by a courteous staff. Dinner parties are also a service provided for our customers. Kindly contact front desk for reservations either for dinner or party gatherings for your family or friends. Perhaps for other social gatherings of another nature. Come see for yourselves.
MoreLovely restaurant. Great food. The students are very friendly. Cant wait to go again!
MoreDelicious lunch in holiday environment. Great way to start winter break
Great atmosphere, cool unique place!
Went there for a lovely post wedding family dinner. Food was top of the line! We got a variety of entree’s and appetizers and not one disappointed. A must visit if you want gourmet food for reasonable prices. The interior is breathtaking and definitely sets a relaxing mood.
MoreFood is always good, and iit is such fun to talk to the students about their careers. The decor is beautiful. Highly recommend!!!
MoreSave your money do not attend this school. They dont really teach anything. They have old projectors that they make you watch YouTube on. They dont have textbooks. Totally a waste of money
MoreI make a pit stop every time I’m in Philly to enjoy the delicious pastries from the bakery. A wide variety of croissants (try the “Everything” Croissant if you’re feeling adventurous!), schnecks, muffins, puffs - they’ve got it all. Their pizzas at lunchtime are also great. I haven’t had a treat here that I haven’t enjoyed. And the service is always kind.
MoreI really enjoyed my lunch today at the school. Service was prompt and the burger and fries was the way I liked. Next I gotta try dinner. My son suggested that try the school for lunch. Stopped by the pastry store and got some chocolate chip and lemon drop cookies! Mmmmm
MoreHad an absolutely wonderful experience here last week. From the parking lot to the perfectly made slice of lemon meringue pie The Restaurant School was delightful. The student staff were polite and professional. Food was FANTASTIC! Im still thinking about the smoked eggplant. Should have taken photos but gobbled up my food upon arrival.🤗🤗 This was my first visit but definitely not the last. A must-do experience in Philly.
MoreThe staff and students were very accommodating. Food was good. Will definitly visit again to try something new!
MoreThis is a perfect place to go for a first date. Service is wonderful, food is wonder as well as the atmosphere. I will be back the price wasnt bad either.
MoreI have been eating at the Restaurant School for over 25 years to celebrate various special occasions and the food is still amazing!!! I think its Phillys best kept secret! We did the Great Chefs Menu and it was unbelievable!!! Excellent service (Mimi our greeter/server made our dining experience very enjoyable!!!), beautiful ambiance, and excellent food! Kudos to the Restaurant School (chefs, instructors, and studentsfor an excellent dining experience with the Great Chefs Menu!!!!
MoreI had my bridal shower in the white room. It was beautiful. My friends and family enjoyed the event and the location. The bakery even made custom cupcakes that were shaped to look like a wedding dress. I sent the bakery a picture of what I wanted and they created delicious cupcakes that looked just like the picture. The meal was also great!! I highly recommend.
MoreI have brought a group of retired Philadelphia Leadership and Principals every year to celebrate the holidays. We have enjoyed the food tremendously and all of the staff and students there.
MoreIt was a wonderful experience and knowing that these are students practicing their craft for future careers made the experience more interactive. I did offer some service suggestions and the food was to die for.
MoreWeve attended many of the kids workshops and the camp and absolutely loved it. My kids enjoyed everyday and wanted the camp to be longer. Highly recommend!
MoreWe attended a Chocolate Truffle Workshop as an office outing to Walnut Hill and it exceeded our expectations! It was a great mix of fun and easy-going environment with learning and hands on work. We were all surprised at how many truffles we were able to make. Plenty for everyone to take home, a large box to share with the office, and some to enjoy while we were making them. The staff was very kind, fun, and professional. Very welcoming. The space is great! The kitchen was set up very conveniently, was incredibly clean and organized, and the outdoor bistro scene looked great! We would definitely recommend taking a class to others.
MoreIve been to the restaurant at Walnut Hill College many times and look forward to going again soon. Their menu offers something for everyone, their prices are affordable, and the food is delicious. On top of all that, their staff is friendly and helpful. Make sure to visit the the bakery, which offers artisan baked goods at a fraction of the price youd expect to pay.
MoreAmazing! The food was outstanding, the service was great. Definitely have recommended to my friends. Cant wait to go back
MoreWalnut hill college has a great summer program for tweens and teens. They also have a program for younger children. My son left camp each day with a smile on his face and a full understanding of what they prepared for the day. It helped him understand ingredients and totally opened up his choices at dinner time and restaurants. He used to be such a picky eater. After cooking and baking, he was more willing to try. He’s our baker at home. He now makes a killer cinnamon bun from scratch. His home made dough is awesome and he helps plan our family’s weekly dinners. He’s going back this summer. They have a new international cooking class!!!!!! Counselor’s were wonderful and went through extensive kitchen safety (according to my son).
MoreThe fruit tart is so good! And the price is around $3! I’ve tried their croissant as well! It’s with good quality!
MoreThis is a wonderful opportunity to support these talented culinary and hospitality students who will soon be out in the workforce.
MoreThe pastries are delicious . The environment is very nice and the attendants (studentssuper friendly and professionals!
MoreWow, this is a beautiful place to eat and the entire restaurant is gorgeous on the inside, decorated so interestingly. We were left in awe. The service was very good in both the restaurant and the pastry shop! They do their job well despite how busy it can get! The food is delicious and the students who prepare it are courteous. Prices are great for what you get!
MoreTerrible service at the bakery. The person at the register was unable to handle more than 1 order at a time, they other lady was rude and couldnt care less. Their saving grace of their pastries are usually good (+1 star)
MoreI use to love this restaurant and the affordable yummy foods it offered. We recently attended the holiday buffet and after the terrible service we encountered we will never be returning. We had a fairly large party about 15 and despite making the reservations weeks in advance the restaurant was not ready for us when we showed up. Also the student servers were extremely rude and unprofessional- talking about us feet from the table, rolling their eyes at us when we asked for simple beverage refills and not at all listening or organized when it came time to pay. For $50 per person the food was subpar at best, overly dried out pork carving station, coq au vin was burnt, dry pitiful turkey vol au vent with pastry as hard as a hockey puck. They ran out of half the salads before we even got there.Over all extremely upset we spent the amount of money we did to get talked about and made fun of between the "servers". This was my birthday dinner and i regret having talking up this place as much as I did only to leave so disappointed and angry.
MoreService is Always classy and attentive. Food never disappoints in flavor or presentation. You may need a slice of pizza afterward if u are accustomed to hearty portions but trust me... Prices are great and food amazing!
MoreFood is always terrible, comes out like nobody cares. Ive been attending this school for 3 years now and the cost of food goes up but the quality is terrible. Things have to change.
MoreThis review is for the pastry side of The Restaurant School.Ive tried quite a few of the options at The Pastry Shop and they have been typically quite delicious and made with high quality ingredients (fresh whipped cream, all butter croissants). The pastry shop includes the following: a limited breakfast including made to order omelettes, lunch sandwiches, usually many breakfast pastries like muffins, croissants and danish, a wide selection of cookies, smaller pastries such as cream puffs, eclairs, mini fruit tarts and cakes, as well as full sized 8-10" cakes, baguettes and 1-2 types of other breads, and a well stocked coffee selection. There is some seasonality ex. fall = pies. The standardization of the baked goods can vary- typically the croissants start out slightly uneven sized, and then as the semester goes on they become more and more uniform in shape and size. The selection of baked goods varies during the day- in the morning there are slightly fewer items because they are just getting going, but you are likely to get items fresh from the oven (warm chocolate croissants are pretty amazing), and I have frequently gotten loaves of bread that are still warm. Pricing is very reasonable eg $2-$4 for bread, $1.50 for muffins, $2 croissant. There are 4x4 tops and as many 2 tops indoors and a couple outdoor tables, and the staff doesnt mind how long you stay. They can do lettering on cakes and you can special order cakes a few days in advance. They do follow the academic schedule of the Restaurant School, so there are some weeks where they are closed for school breaks- call to double check that they are open especially around New years, June/August.(Theres a step up into the shop itself and the walkway inside is somewhat narrow, so not too wheelchair friendly.)
MoreThe restaurant was quite exquisite and rather pleasant. Everything was very well organized and very well coordinated. The staff was friendly and professional, did their due diligence as well as serve the guests in amazing ways. Food was rather brilliant and delicious, the overall experience was wonderful. Thank you!!!
MoreI was looking for a venue to celebrate my husbands retirement last week. When I saw the room at the restaurant school I decided that this was the place! All of my guests (we had 40are still talking about the great experience everyone had there. Besides the amazing and truly gourmet food, the service was superb and attention to detail was impeccable. It felt like being at a courtyard in Italy. Its a hidden jewel. We had a ball and we were dancing on the rooftop until our feet were sore! I would highly recommend it for any event!
MoreThis is a review of the cafe/restaurant, not the school itself. The pastries are great, the bread is baked fresh everyday, and everything is affordable.
MoreFood tasted like ass. Food came out looking more like modern art then actully edible food. Cost too much also. Id rather have the leftovers from mcdonalds customers and pay double then eat here. Seriously
MoreAs a current student, and someone who came here with a passion to be the best, and too work hard, aswell as learn everything i can, this place is terrible!! They do an ABSOLUTELY AMAZING job of selling the school to both parent and future student, when you do finally start, you relise very fast and agree with basicaly every other student here that this place is a damn joke... I will be transferring to another school as soon as possible..
MoreIt is a REALLY REALLY GOOD PLACE.Good food, people are so professional and we had for our money :D
MoreWe dined at "The Restaurant School at Walnut Hill College" on Saturday, December 1, 2012, for their annual "Christmas Buffet". IT WAS FANTASTIC!! I enjoy dining in Philadelphia, however, I was somewhat concerned about the area, but the parking is fenced in on the entire property and it is quite festively decorated. Once entering the dining room you feel a European presence. The entire food buffet was exquisite from start to finish. We spent two and half hours and the students are second to none. Between courses your soiled china is removed and a clean napkin placed immediately. They prepare, serve and wait on you as though youre in a 5 star restaurant!! All servers are extremely polite and attentive to your every need. The price was so low and yet very high quality - as good, or better than most restaurants in the City. Kudos to the Students!!!
MoreThey have great desserts although the food selection was limited.
