The Reef RV Park - in Puerto Peñasco, Mexico
Average food, good portions, excellent service. What youre really paying for is having your feet in the sand, listening to great trop rock music and watching fabulous sunsets. Their shrimp and fish baskets are good with generous portions. The servers are pleasant and attentive.
Awesome RV park. I wish it had some shade trees. And their bathrooms still closed.
Great place to camp, i love the beach spots, friendly stocked office and helpful property guy that drives around in truck. Bring a pop up or umbrella for the beach. Bring chairs. Beware there are alot of locals selling to you ALLLLLLL day
Every morning we had freshmade burros from the local. Camping on the beach rules! Cant wait for our next trip down!
Family vacation spot..Love it Razor time check out JJs too.
Ive never stayed but looks nice and always has guests
They are very difficult to work with! They need to get someone who can get things sorted, I got tired of fighting there incompetence, and gave up! Dont waste your time and energy, go to one of the other places in the area!
Great place to park an RV, the road to get there is dirt and very bumpy and apparently you should Not hook up to the water
Nice place for RV camping; full hook ups Tents require very strong stakes, spikes are better. NO TOILETS of any kind!!! Beach is very clean, but rocky. Wear good closed toed water shoes. No fires or charcoal grills in the campground or beach. LOTS of loud music from Wrecked At The Reef into late night, early morning.
Absolutely loved it!!! Beautiful beach, clean, friendly staff, off road really close, vendors come up to you but arent a nuisance. Quiet. Would stay here again.
I had so much fun love it there
Not as busy as other parks, and great views of the ocean. More private beaches as well
Nice lil bar and restaurant. Great at night
Incredible location, great and clean beach. Next to wrecked bar-restaurant
We have been going to Rocky Point for over 30 years now and have stayed at the Reef more times than I can count as its a great place to stay and the beach is right there. My only issue is a reservation I made over a month ago that I need to reschedule due to an upcoming surgery that just got scheduled and they are charging me $50 because I cant make the dates I chose. Its not like we are never coming back ... sent a $200 check to hold our spot and now have $150 credit due to the "fee" ... asked for a refund given the circumstance and was told its a "corporate policy" ... not cool and very upsetting there are no exceptions, even for this long time customer.
This place is great. There is nothing between you and the ocean, the spaces are large and the people are friendly. We try to visit at least twice a year. Its one of our favorite places. The only downside is making & paying for your reservation. Its a hassle. If you are patient, its worth it though.
Wrecked At The Reef! Hands down my favorite spot to visit while Im in town.
DONT MAKE A BEACHFRONT RESERVATION IF YOU ARE STAYING FOR LESS THAN 4 DAYS ! ! ! We were there last weekend and had to pay for 4 days when we were only there for 3 all because I made a reservation! Apparently their policy is there is a 4 day minimum if you make a beachfront reservation even if you are only staying for two or three days. We had two spots so it was close to $100.00 US extra we had to pay. The place was EMPTY and I mean EMPTY. I was told by the front desk attendant that if I was a walk in customer I would have only been charged for 3 days but because I made a reservation I had to pay for their 4 day minimum for a beach front spot. I was told by two different employees that the 4 day minimum is corporate policy and there is nothing they can do about it. I emailed corporate and got ZERO response which was very disappointing. I am a regular at the park staying there at least once or twice a month over the last year but I will be reconsidering where I stay after this experience. You would think with gas prices being what they are these days and less RVs on the road that a business want attract and keep as many customers as possible. This was not my recent experience at The Reef. Regular customer or not, full park on not youre paying 4 days for a beachfront spot if you make a reservation. Thats the policy. I implemented my own policy recently that I take my business elsewhere when I get overcharged which is exactly what I will do next weekend when I am there.
Outrageously horrible reservation system. I like staying here but booking groups is terrible. They get the spots wrong. The dates wrong. They tell you to call to reserve a group but I literally spent the entire day calling and no answered call. I must have called 200 times. Unacceptable!
Was a nice little adventure to walk the area we were staying in. They displayed the whale bones and the story behind them. Also have a small pond with wish and information on them. Its kind of nice, nothing big or fancy.
Clean park, however they say they have a strict leash law on the beach but they dont enforce it. Numerous dogs running loose on beach. Maybe its just the gringos not obeying the rules. Wish they would enforce the rule or drop it. Crowded on weekends with a lot of atv/utv running around. Younger crowd.
We have been comm8ng here for about 6 years.Always join friends from Prescott to a shared RV experience. Jim fishes and I chill out.
Amazing location. Very reasonable rates. Not having showers or s restroom was inconvenient and disappointing. I wish they would have told us up front. Cant beat the view for the price...
We love this park! First time back in Mexico after 35 years boy have things changed. We enjoyed three weeks here and we have already booked for the month of April next year. Verizon works AT&T not so much. The Wi-Fi is better towards the middle of the park otherwise just go to Wrecked and you can use their Wi-Fi
Very accommodating stuff. Always helpful the outside setting is great along with takeout style food!
Good location, although giant pile of concrete that was going to be a cruiseship pier is now just a major eyesore that will be there forever. Great prices, bad internet and spotty cell service. Nearby Italian restaurant, Mare Blue is EXCELLENT and reasonably priced. Wrecked at the Reef features watered down drinks at US prices, decent food and friendly service, so be prepared.
Mexican KOA-style park with full community amenities like shower and gift store. Affordable prices. Would highly recommend! Right on the beach.
Great Experience - we stay here all the time with friends in their RV. The folks are nice and everyone in the park talks, hangs out and is friendly. The beach is nice and is close to dining.
Great place to camp and yes it IS on the beach. Ocean front sites are only $45 a night. (They just had a price increase Only 10 other campers during the the last week of Sept. Bar next door is cool and serves all drinks and typical bar food only. (Burgers, nachos)
The location is amazing! The rest needs work. 12 weeks there and no wifi.2Bathroom and showers no longer available. 3laundry building gone with no replacement. The help is great however.
As first time visitors and newbies to the Tuscon area, my wife and I loved our week long visit over new years. Staff is excellent, helpful and so nice. Bar is great, music acts were good, view charming, park well run. Daco at the security dept went above and beyond when we needed advice. Definitely will visit again! Salute!
Love the facility. We have our motorhome on the front row facing the ocean. Not overly crowded and the spaces are large. Understand the showers have a problem for 2 years now... that was disappointing! Being right next door to the Wrecked at the Reef.. great outside restaurant right on the water with music. This has been a blast
Every RVers needs are different. I have been vacationing in Puerto Penasco since 1973. I have stayed at different RV parks and I like the Reef the best. The closeness to the beach, a really good restaurant (Mar Blueand a fun bar (Wrecked at the Reefand no walls to block your view are the the positives. No public restrooms and showers, no laundry facilities and the electrical hookups are a little scary. The water supply is usually dependable, but lack of water and low pressure are common, especially on holidays. Book at least a six months in advance if you want a beach site. Bear, Cave Creek, AZ
Im disappointed. I was here last year and I understood at that time for the closure of the bathrooms.I was told when I made the reservations last year for this year that the restrooms and showers would be openUnfortunately, thats not the case and is the reason for the poor review. The ability to take a shower makes all the difference.
Love the atmosphere here! Always a party and great food and drinks! Love being able to go down to the ocean and just sit. Also love the live bands
We reserved a beach front spot. We had full hook ups including sewer. 50 and 30 amp. Every one was great at the park. The office, the mart and security. People were getting their rigs worked on and washed while we there. We booked for another week for next year.
Love taking new friends here! Food ok, as usual. Server was excellent. But it wasnt busy or late in the evening.Atmosphere great for new friends.
We went in August to Rocky Point with the RV for the first time. Last time we went to Rocky Point, we stayed in a resort.Staff was pleasant and having full hookup (water-electricmade this vacation amazing. Literally on the beach. $40 a night. Two second walk to refill drinks, make lunch, use bathroom, etc... The water is crystal clear but the beach can be rocky at certain times of the day. Water shoes are helpful.. Its not as pretty as Sandy Beach; however, the fact that this is a semi-private beach makes it better IMO.Very few vendors, which is the exact opposite of Sandy Beach! Its a 10 min drive downtown. If youre coming to Rocky Point for a beach vacation, then stay here. If you want to be downtown with a lot of people and vendors, stay in a resort. There is security at the gate but they dont hassle people walking through. There is a guy that walks around and sells fresh salsa, tamales, and tortillas every morning. Very good! There are two restaurants adjacent to the RV park that you can try. The Italian restaurant is decent but stick to seafood and pasta dishes. The Wrecked at the Reef restaurant has great food and live bands that play a mix of English and Spanish songs -- sometimes pop songs in Spanish. Great atmosphere. The RV store has parts and a basic store. If you need to go to town for supplies, make sure you have a truck. It is too far to walk and cabs are expensive. Also, bring some cash. Most places will accept dollars or pesos. Credit/debit card payments have a surcharge.Wifi is available but limited. Dont expect to stream videos but it worked with music and social media. It is better in the mornings or at night. The more people that are there, the slower it is.We will be heading back again but not in August. Its the same temperature in Rocky Point as it is in Phoenix, only with humidity. Water was high 80s. Spring and Fall are better times to visit. Winter is good too if you want to ATV in the nearby sand dunes (they rent ATVs tooor see the migrating humpback whales. If this is your first trip to Rocky Point, dont forget to have MEXICAN insurance for all your vehicles. Make sure you have current registration. Drive to Wrecked at the Reef was 4 hours from Phoenix. Dont speed at border town. Much cheaper and closer than California. You can have a really nice vacation here for 1/3 of the price.. Plus, the locals are very pleasant and patient with tourists. Most signs are in Spanish but you can get by without speaking it. You will see a lot of AZ license plates no matter where you are in this town, which is why this is truly Arizonas beach.I recommend 100%.
The beach was nice but there was a local that was extremely hostile to us and our dogs. Even followed us out of the campground when we left and threatened our lives as he called us white trash. Not a great place to be when they allow people like this to camp there.
Great staff, friendly service, beautiful view. Last minute trip, and they didnt require a reservation, and we are sitting on the beach! Be aware, weekends, and busy times of the year, Im sure you would need a reservation...sooooo much better than going to San Diego!!
We had an amazing week here I’m so hot and humid the view from this park it never gets old watching the pelicans dive for their fish amazing seagulls, We will definitely be back when it’s cooler. Also the gentleman that comes by with breakfast burritos and salsa tamales they are all amazing so fresh so good and reasonably priced being so close to wrecked on the reef was a great additive as well call music vibe on the weekends SUNS game during the week
We have always come here when visiting Rocky Point, and the food was always excellent. This time, not so much. Burger was okay, certainly not something that had a $14 price on it. The onion rings were soggy, beer luke warm, so since we were outside, unless you chugged it, they got warm real fast. Unfortunately the experience left us wondering if we will be back next time. Too bad really.
Consistently consistent. No rooms, only RV and tent parking. Ive seen tent campers right next to a 40 motor home. But, as RV parks go, this is the bomb. You have to go online and pay prior to arriving, but it has never been a problem. Ive moved my stay several times and it is always honored. Nice little store with odds and ends. Close to two beach restaurants. Nice wide parking and rows. Typically, the people are very friendly as were all on vaca at the beach!
We have been staying at the Reef RV park for many years. Large spots, ocean front, great views, full hook-ups. Close to all the resorts and sand dunes. Does not get any better than this. Our only complaint is that the food WIFI is horrible! One would think with the technology available that they could easily improve their service.
40$ ON THE BEACH. You cant beat that! I mean its an Rv park. But right next door (if youre facing the beach- walk to the building directly leftand the BEST FOOD YOUVE EVER HAD is right there. Tell me Im wrong! Plus theres a pretty fun bar right next to that. It was pretty windy most of our trip which kind of sucked because we were expecting beach days, but it was still nice in sweatshirts. The tide goes WAYYYY out so its pretty cool to see the ocean floor and if youre into hiking theres a mountain just to the right (I ran up it in 20 min.The sea glass is top notch, got some pretty awesome colors. Was there for Valentines, it was nice.
Right on the beach full hookups. Well maintained. Very helpful staff and security. The mini-mart is well stocked with anything you need, cash only! Beware cabs from this location, they are nice but will charge $40 round trip.
Poorly managed overpriced facility. I am experienced at traveling all around mexico guatemala belize and america and canada so am not over fussy. Security allows all manner of misbehavior. Dune buggies careening around the park at high speed, failure to follow city covid regulations and so on. The facilities are very basic but the prices are among highest in area. The location is remote from services and does not allow vendors to provide services. There are sewage and electric and the clerk says water is not drinkable not can they tell where clean water is available. The spaces are about the same size as other parks but the driveways are pretty spacious so easy to park. The beach in this area is not as nice as the beaches closer to town. Wont stay again.
Great location, quiet. Excellent beach access. Water and sewage was reliable and as expected. Wi-Fi was of poor quality. They did advertise that their shower and toilets were open online but come to find out they were closed when we arrived. We didnt find this out until after we had payed. Would recommend checking beforehand if your RV is not equipped with a shower.
Week of December 26-30th... very empty.. very quiet and serene.. very few ATVs and the like buzzing around. Had a perfect Beachfront space with a few very nice neighbors. Other than the bathrooms and showers being closed due to Covid.. The park and Spaces were perfect
We were there for Sunday morning-day football. The bench seats are pretty uncomfortable and the food was fairly average. Once we moved to seats with backs, wasnt bad. Food know and booze kind of expensive.
