48 Parliament St, Westminster, London SW1A 2NH, Kinkala
Westminster pub with elaborate ceiling, politicians' portraits and illustrious former clientele.
This place is great and very lively, but the service can take an age. I dont think at all this is the fault of the staff, but the bar format probably needs changing to improve speed. Not too badly priced for the location.
A “must visit” when I’m in London. Steeped in history, and full of life, the staff and pub fare are just perfect
Outstanding food outstanding service! The portions are perfectly sized 👌🏻Highly recommended 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
A little pit stop while touring around the city. Good place to hang around while grabbing a drink while the outdoor sitting is available.
We were so looking forward to tasting the food at the Red Lion. Sadly Jose’ was more interested in his phone. We gave up waiting to be asked if we wanted a drink after 35 minutes of being seated. At the time there was 65% of the tables occupied and seated, so hardly run off his feet.We was not told on being seated that all sharing meals were not available and we was not given the specials of the day.All in all a poor performance in the customer care.
We had the best fish n chips of all that we tried in London here. The Red Lion is centrally located near a lot of the touristy areas but seems to also cater to the local crowd at night. Decent beer selection and stellar fried fish. There is also a cool cigar box on the wall from Winston Churchill.
4 stars for the fish & chips ! Not the cleanest place but they cleaned it up when we dined in . Service is a tad slow due to the lack of manpower but worth the wait. Limited space to dine in as this is a pub . Cash is still accepted here. Apparently Winston Churchill used to have lunch here back in the days .
We got lucky & were able to get a table upstairs without a reservation. The food was fine, but a little pricey. They were out of a lot of the items on the menu. The server was a little short on patience, but I’m going to say it’s because he went from us & 1 other table to a completely full room because the bar tenders downstairs kept sending people up without checking to see how busy the 1 waiter was.
Amazing history with decent food overall. The pies are a bit small at £17-20, but filling. The fish and chips were surprisingly good. The waiter upstairs was very pleasant provided excellent service on October 14, 2022.
Delicious brew on tap and great atmosphere. The Red Lion is a small pub, which is not unusual for pubs that we visited in London. Despite a lack of seating indoors, the pub encourages customers to take their pints outside along the building where there are benches and additional seating. This was fantastic when the weather was warm and not raining, but no so appealing when it rained. The Red Lion is beautiful inside and definitely worth stopping in for a pint.
Conveniently located for a break from Westminster-Big Ben-Parliament but just off the busiest most crowded areas. Its pub grub so we had fish & chip. Very good! Crisp batter, nicely done fish, traditional chips but fresh n crisp..with the obligatory vinegar on the side to make it as soggy as you wish! Theres also a nice selection of pies, which are also available in mini sizes, perfect if youre not up to a full meal but need more than a packet of crisps. Professional staff, efficient service despite it being a busy lunch period. And very friendly and helpful - more like a local than a busy SW1 pub.
Found this charming, authentic English Pub while sightseeing. They specialize in savory pies...delicious! Great, friendly staff!
Excellent food munching with the atmosphere and the environment. A pub value for money indeed. Keep going guys. For sure I will come back again. Take care.
Beautiful pub especially downstairs, BUT food and service below par. It did taste better than it looked, but I will certainly not eat there again. I
This place is not even capable of zero stars. My friend and I tried to enter this pub and we were rejected by the security at the front. There was racial slurs directed towards us and we were told we are not welcome in the pub. I have NEVER experienced this ever. What a disgusting place, I would NOT recommend this place to anyone unless they wish to be insulted and discriminated against.
Great pub! Me and my family have been going there for years. Friendly and helpful staff, well ran, great food, great beer garden, an amazing ballroom and a lovely hotel. Couldnt ask for anything more!!
This place was fantastic. It seems always crowded but it is well worth the wait. Their pies were good. I do not drink beer because I do not care for the taste. Or so I thought! I enjoyed 3 different types of beer and a spritz. I thoroughly enjoyed it and will return again!
Most amazing pie tasting, great pastry and very good fillings. Great central London location and good beers too. Only minor let down was didn’t get our veggies but only ordered them to be healthy, would have spoiled the pie experience anyway :)
A nice little English pub in the heart of the parliament district. It was quite busy when we got there but the service was great. You can also buy a beer and sit on benches in the side street while waiting for your table. The food is typical pub food it’s not great but it’s not bad either. Great selection of beers to choose from. Probably a bit on the expensive side if things
Great fish and chips & pies. Prices between the $18-$25. Big portions. Expect to wait a little foe the food because it is small and very popular. But great food for a pub. Well maintained and clean. We sit at the bar because the dining room was reserved. Staff friendly and fast
Visited during The Queens final journey through London. What a day.Staff on site were calm and collected, even though they were herding humans left and right. We had a club sandwich which was delicious and dished as nicely as a sandwich could be.Great location, great views, great day all round.Photos taken from our position outside so looking into the road/buildings
Lovely pub. Enjoyed drinks in sunshine ☀. Staff very good.A quick brush round the tables outside would have improved the appearance.
This place is just down the way from Downing Street and full of Parliamentary staff, good place to eavesdrop on the latest gossip. Its nearly impossible to find a public toilet around Trafalgar and Westminster, so heres a tip, theres a second entrance on the right. Walk in the side door like you just came back from catching a smoke and head upstairs and toward the back.
Very good fish and chips. The chips were crispy on the outside but fluffy on the inside. The peas which Id never had before were lovely, great flavor and texture. The fish which was obvious the main event was crispy, moist, and flaky. Very good portion also, I couldnt finish it all. The cider I had was delicious, refreshing and not too sweet. My only complaint is if you go alone there no way to hold your table while you go up to bar and order your food and drinks. Someone tried to snag my table while I was placing my order. I reclaimed it but not without him making a hissy fit like a toddler. Spoiled an otherwise great experience.
Great place to drink bear. Its the kind of PUB where you can feel the real London with great service and food. Muchas gracias
I love this pub. I used to go there frequently after work. The drinks are sort of pricey (if youre a northerner and not used to the exorbitant pics of London alebut where isnt in our capital city?
Delicious food. Lovely staff. Good beer. Highly recommend the Trio of Mushrooms, spinach and Barbers 1833 vintage cheddar pie.
Very Nice Pub in London. The attendance gived for the girls should be better, especially for foreigners tourist. Looks like there are with bad mood.
We got there before the kitchen opened so we no problems finding a seat, but be prepared to wait for a table after noon. Good food and friendly staff.
Cool bar right in the heart of Whitehall, filled with tourists though.
Possibly the bossiest pub in London!Potentially a really nice place but there are so many rules! Weve never been ordered about so much in a pub before & were pretty easy going. Strict rules on where you can and cant stand and sit. When we arrived we were told we couldnt sit outside unless we ate as well. Then we were told we could. One of our party couldnt leave her bicycle out of the way as it was on their property. We were told not to stand on one part of the street but to stand on the other side. We crossed over and were then told not to stand there. It was all very confusing! At 8pm we were not allowed to sit outside but appreciate this is probably a council rule. In the end it was all quite stressful and didnt make for a relaxing evening.
We popped in for a drink, first time customers. Female staff member tipped half a pint of already standing Ale in to a pint glass whilst filling it- when asked if she had actually just done that she said ‘yes’. I said that is unacceptable and asked for a fresh full pint- she looked really hacked off ! It’s not rocket science but maybe some staff need some extra basic training . Would I return…. Probably not given how rude the young girl with the yellow top on served us today- manners cost nothing- when told how rude I thought she was she just shook her head and rolled her eyes! I never ever give bad reviews- I try and look for the positives every time so I thought long and hard about sharing this - even if it means staff need that bit extra training and maybe a proper break, just so someone can have a better experience than mine :)
Amazing pub in an equally amazing building! Excellent food, great drinks and excellent service! Highly recommend visiting if youre in London. Had the lentil shepherds pie and lamb "sausages". An absolute must!
Excellent location near the Churchill war museum. Food was excellent. Restaurant was wood paneled walls. You need to make a reservation but we got lucky at 2pm. Servers were slow and disorganized but nice.
Good beer, very refreshing during the heatwave.
Yummy food but VERY poor service. Adequately staffed but no hustle. Twice, waitstaff sat down and ate their own meal at adjacent tables while we waited for service. No response to requests, no checking on our needs, no attempt to provide/sell additional items to our order. Poor washroom conditions. The great food did not make up for an overall disappointing (at bestexperience.
Headed over right after touring the Abbey. The pie and ale sampler hit the spot. Wait times for a table can be a little crazy around lunch time.
Visited London for the first time and had to get some pies and pints! The Red Lion did not disappoint!
We stopped in and had drinks. It was enjoyable. The old ambience of the pub makes it especially nice.
For a quick bite it’s a great place to sit and relax. Enjoyed the burger and crab.
An incredible choice -especially for those of you who want a taste of 3 different scrumptious pies. Sophia gave us great advice and we couldn’t be more pleased. Five stars are not enough for how much we enjoyed our meal. My spouse had the special Jubilee pie and gives it high marks as well.
Very historical pub if you are into politics. Nearly every Prime Minister has had a drink in this pub. Can get very busy at times, but worth the wait. Some lovely rooms upstairs too, to relax in.
Great place to stop for a British pub meal or just a beer. This is a small pub, with a friendly staff and good service. A full service bar and large selection of beer. I enjoyed my fish and chips. Great atmosphere and history. I had an unexpected layover in London And found this place for dinner. Made my day.
Ended up here by chance and sure glad we did. Even though the fryer was broken so couldn’t get the fish n chips or the scotch egg - we got the pork pie instead and it was amazing! The fries were so delicious as well. Very sweet staff. Cheers

A. Our waiter was hilarious. B. My club sandwich was delicious. C. Winston Churchill used to drink here! Loved the Red Lion!
Best fish & chips! Great service! Salted caramel banana cheesecake for pudding wins the night! Stop in... try the pudding! Wont regret it! WILL be back!
Fantastic food and atmosphere. We have eaten here two or three times over the years. The meat pie was the best I have ever eaten and the kids loved the fish and chips. We had even more fun taking pictures in the basement lounging area that may not have even been associated with the restaurant up top! Great place to visit and eat.
Wonderful atmosphere in this pub. The dining room is on the second floor and gives you a fun experience eating in this classic British pub. We loved the food that we had as well the meat pies and chips were all full of flavor and well deserving of 5 stars. Definitely worth a visit if you’re near by!
Excellent classic British pub, a nice, fun and cheerful environment on the ground floor, and a great cozy atmosphere on the first floor. The waitresses were very nice and the food/beer was excellent. Needless to comment on the location and history of the place, it all adds up to a great experience. We had the fish and chips and the steak pie. The pie was accompanied by one free pint, which was also a great deal.I definitely recommend it to anyone visiting London and would surely like to stop by here again.
