Nightspot for Indian, Hakka and Szechuan dishes as well as a sophisticated late-opening nightclub.
Ive been here quite a few times over the years but it has declined severely in my estimations. Most recently we went to a family dinner - party of 10 including 2 children - and it will definitely be the last time. The menu is much narrower than previously and as a result, there werent many fish/prawn options for me to choose from. The food was not as enjoyable as it had been previously and I found it much greasier than before. One redeeming quality... They did not have plain chips on the menu but they agreed to make some for the children. Its probably the only reason I havent given this 1 star. They were having an event next door and the noise was appalling. Though it was dampened by some noise proofing between the two sides...... The music levels were ridiculous for the time (6pmand the size of the venue.Inside the restaurant, another party 4 tables away were so loud that we had to wait for their pauses to talk. Not the restaurants fault, but it added to the distress of the evening.Im definitely going to look for another place to go out for dinner because the experience was so poor that I cant pay to be traumatised again.
FOOD POISONINGMy partner and I were sick for three days after the delivery of food from The Ravensbury. The food was unpleasant, the duck greasy and cold, the rice chemically, but we were very hungry so we regretfully ate it. We emailed The Ravensbury about our food poisoning but never got a response, no apology, let alone a refund of our food and an explanation.
Food portions fantastic, as someone with food allergies, I was disappointed that I could have was plain rice and Bombay Aloo. Everyone was able to eat other dishes and they all said their food was delicious and portion size was very generous.
Ive been here few times with my bf and always have a great experience; food is delicious and service is wonderful. The staff is friendly, polite, attentive and always go the extra mile.Highly recommended 👌
Visited there last Saturday for a games night and it was such a lovely Venue, my friend has a birthday booked in December and Im looking forward to going back there. Also trying their shisha.
Great restaurant, amazing Asian food selection
Brilliant service. Looked after a party on 50 with ease and hospitality. They had a club next door for those that wanted to carrying on the night.
Popular location with good ambience inside.Service was very quick (midweek dinner).Staff were great.Food taste and quality - greatThough its expensive, the quantity of the food is larger than other places to justifySamosa chat - 5*sKerala fish curry -5*sDesi chicken curry - 4*sChilly chicken - 4.5*sButter and Garlic naan - 4*sFruit juices were just good enough.Staff were so lovely to offer a small cake on my wifes Bday along with a candle on it.Highly recommended restaurant.
Such great service from Carlos. Lush food. Will be back… Did I mention the cocktails ?
Having dined here multiple times in the past, we had a set expectation of good service and quality food. How disappointed we were. We had lunch on a Saturday afternoon and it was quiet. I had to take my toddler into the toilets and the floor was dripping wet, presumably having just been cleaned prior to opening . The hand dryers were not turned on, so had to improvise to dry our hands. Having sat down, the service was not great. The lady that waited on us was slow and kept slamming the food down on our table as it arrived. There were so many flies buzzing around our table when the food arrived, it was really off putting. This didnt leave a good impression with my guests. The food was lets say hit and miss. The portions were good and some dishes spot on. The calamari was more batter than anything else and very chewy. The chicken tikka was unbearably spicy and the samosa chat was a liquid mess on a plate. Overall very disappointed with the experience and not to mention the £45 cost per head for essentially what was just a couple of plates of starters each and a couple of drinks.
Awesome food and ambience. Starter portions are good. Decor and theme is fab. A regular here. Love this place
Family dinner here. Visited for the first time.Nice setting and free car parking outside.Cramped inside. Had to get people to stand up or tuck themselves in to get pass.Food wasn’t anything special. Some dishes were warm and not hot when they arrived on the table.Wouldn’t visit again.
Good restaurant which has its own character and story to tell. The food is super nice, overall a nice place to spend some quality time with friends and family. The parking is limited so that could be a bit of an issue at times.
Really nice venue, inside & out. Staff & manager very friendly, helpful. The event on the night had good music, atmosphere. I would definitely go again
Food was pretty good, service however just okayish… also wasn’t much atmosphere weren’t busy nor any music in the background just the sound of the staff gossiping amongst themselves. Fair enough it wasn’t busy but if you’re charging service fee on top I don’t wanna be hearing chit chat whilst I’m eating. Quarter duck was a complete rip off £14.50 and was definitely not a quarter was just about to make 2 pancakes out of the portion. Apart from that the rest of the food was pretty nice and came out quickly.
Front of house was a good advert. First waitress was lovely. Took around 20 minutes for our drinks to arrive. Second waitress is definitely in the wrong job. We had to point at the menu to identify what we wanted. Food wasnt particularly hot... possibly the kitchen is on the other side of Mitcham Common. The bhindi basket had cold ochra. That was heated up when we asked, but I reckon they heated the salad as well. We asked for the drinks menu and the second waitress ignored my open hand and threw it down on the table. After about 10 minutes of interrogation and pointing, she went off to ask where the Sauvignon Blanc was from (not identified on the menu). New Zealand was a good answer. Sadly theyserved warm wine in a warm glass. You getting the picture yet? We eventually got a cold glass and chilled wine. We had asked for a table for two, but ended up sharing it with between four and six flies for the entire meal. We reached the end of our patience. I paid the bloody service charge because I just wanted to leave! My partner used the ladies restroom and came back disgusted. She quietly pointed out the issue to the front of the house, who might have been the manager. He said he had no previous complaints and had never checked the state of the ladies restroom himself. Urgggh. Do yourself a favour and never go there!
Not sure if management changed but my past experience were amazing from the Food, service and the sexy decor. My experience at the present The Ravensury very disappointing. Basic food No AC, very little light and noisy. Not a place for a Date night experience but if you want a Cosmo vibe then this is for you.
The venue is very nice, family friendly.A couple members of the staff werent very helpful and at times rude and dismissive this led to a poor experience. The food on the menu is a mix of Indian Thai and Chinese cuisine therefore a few choices. I ordered a variety of things to try them out, some were good some not so good, all about what you order. There is a cocktail bar and happy hour however the drinks again lacked that kick, either very weak or cheaper spirits used. Its not a bad place however the mix of poor customer service, mediocre food and drinks led to a below average score for me.
Had a great time Friday evening.Service was not rushed and delivered with professional courtesy. Food was delicious and I can safely say my friends would agree. We were sat in the bar section which later was cleared away to make room for dancing. We took advantage of that - eventually 😁.I would return for sure.Great job all at The Ravensbury!
Yesterday was the 4th time Ive been to The Ravensbury and Ive loved every minute, every time! The food, the service and the atmosphere are amazing! Love it for big parties and intimate settings!! Would (and haverecommend to any and everyone
Attended thr restaurant over the weekend to celebrate my Mums birthday. The food was really lovely. Full of flavours and came out in a timely manner. Didnt have to wait long as all.Cocktails &a mocktails were 2 for 1 which was a bonus (remember to check times).Staff were friendly and polite and also asked beforehand if anyone had an allergy which is great because not all places ask. You have to remember to inform them.We didnt bring a cake but our waiter (forgot his name, sorrybrought out a slice of cheese cake with a candle which was a really nice gesture.Clean environment and spacious. There is also a big car park. Just be sure to call or book online to avoid disappointment as they do tend to get busy.Would definitely recommend😊
Lovely restaurant. The food was delicious and the service was great.
A great venue in a scenic location easily accessible by road. Great layout and generous food portions. Definitely worth a repeat visit as the prices are very reasonable too! Staff are amenable adding up to a great dining experience!
Ive been passing through this bustling place couple of times but only yesterday managed to dine in. We booked a table and enjoyed the meal. Crispy okra was delicious, much better than other places. Chicken 65 a bit chewy but hakka noodles 🍜 simple and tasty. Great place with happy hours for cocktails.
Havent been since refurb but must say had a fantastic time. The food was so tasty everything that we ordered was delicious and the cocktails were amazing (we had 14 between us🤫)we had a great time. The staff are very friendly and attentive and the bar/club next is quite fun too. Had a really enjoyable evening will definitely be going back soon.
Visited on a Saturday evening, restaurant was busy with a good atmosphere. Staff friendly and service good, food portions were large and delicious. Will definitely be visiting again to try the Indian menu
the food was amazing especially the butter chicken and that calamari I heard, and the drinks were good. The service was also good just slightly slow. However the waiting time for the food, the drinks and just asking for water took ages. Other than that, not bad hence the three stars.
Lovely place. Cant wait to visit in summer. Great cocktail list and staff. Didnt get 5* as if you dont like spice, even the korma is spicy. I think if they can cut down the spice in what is meant to be a mild dish that would be best. Will be back.
Great options for food and brilliant portions, and great drinks, it amazed my family and I when we came for my birthday. Definitely a recommendation for the future.
Great food portions and the food was great, the main thing that let it down was the service was very slow. If you are going with a big group, you can share some of the mains as they could be too much for one person. They also can give you take away contains for left over food
Staff are very friendly and polite.Food was very good and the portions were reasonable.
I used to pass this place and not look twice but now with the new eye catching deco this place is one of the busiest in Mitcham. If you come by car then you must enter the number plate into the tablet inside restaurant or else you have to pay for parking. Try to book ahead as it gets busy. Have to wear mask to enter. Very clean and tidy place, one Side restaurant and one side bar with big screen to enjoy sports. It offers Indian dishes as well as Pan Asia dishes, which is fantastic for anyone who wants to try bit of both in one place. We ordered fabulous Seafood Delight, which has tiger prawns, young scallops and squidwith fresh vegetables in tasty oyster sauceThe most memorable dish of the evening was The Shank Masala with thick sauce, When a chef turns a humble lamb into a dish greater than the sum of its parts, it’s time to sit up and take notice. We had garlic naan with both dishes (naan was cold). When the plate came i had to send it back was not cleaned and second time it was clean but had finger prints on the plate, that could have been easily voided if they used towel to hold the plates. Use the towels to hold the plates and wipe as you serve its basic and simple.
Brilliant food recommended by uncle tse.The cheese naan was simply the best and it was loaded with melted cheese! The okra salt and pepper is just like Japanese okra tempura.Looking forward to trying everything from the menu!!!BBQ Lamb ribs, tandoori mushrooms, hakka noodles! Will definitely get it again!
Excellent food at very reasonable prices. Good service as well! Highly recommended!
We dropped by on a whim when walking past today and were absolutely floored. The cocktails are absolutely incredible, and most of them are unique to the pub and considerable improvements on their traditional counterparts. The staff are genuinely wonderful; Carlos especially is one of the nicest people and a true cocktail genius. I strongly recommend coming here, especially if you can get home without driving!
Great happy hour (til 7pm every day), eat out to help out and great food and cocktails. Theyve just built a new outdoor area which is great with new covid regulations and has sheltered outdoor bits as well as uncovered tables.
Ravensbury...Indo Chinese Restaurant not catered for Indians nor ChineseDelivery yesterday evening with estimated delivery time being 60 Minutes, at 18:20 yet turned up at shy of 18:50 - within 30 Minutes. Considering I live some 15 Minutes away, my takeaway was prepared in assuming 15 Minutes and delivered in an additional 15 Minutes. Can’t have been busy then, and food can’t have been fresh on reflection of the quality / taste of it sadly. What I Ordered:1. Chilli Paneer - Reheated, Not Fresh, Dry, Rubbery, dried rub / texture on pieces ~ Coating, No Veg. Extremely Disappointing for such a popular dish.2. Veg Manchurian Saucey - Sauce was Oily and Tasteless - worst I’ve ever experienced / tasted and Manchurian (Fritters aka Bhajia’shorribly wrong, and I assume they are using Gits Ready Mix Daal Bhajia and trying to pass them of as Manchurian, completely awful.3. Methi Chicken - Reheated, Not Fresh, though ok / had taste.4. Hakka Noodles - Tasted like a dirty wok, Reheated, Not Fresh, No Veg.I haven’t had a takeaway from here for a while and previously was mediocre and ordered for connivance, today though fell even below the previous standard and very poor. Avoid, avoid avoid if you know anything about food. Better establishments around like Imperial Lounge in Purley.
Have been here multiple times and each time the food and the service is exceptional. The interior work should really be appreciated. The staff are very serious about their job and always give a great service. All the courses of the food tastes and have been cooked very well.
We visited this place for the first time during the eat out to help out scheme on a weekday. I was looking forward to having my meal there as I had heard its name in many circles. There is ample parking space and you have to register your car at the reception to avoid a fine. The reception area looked impressive but a whole new experience awaited us in the dining area. The whole place looked poorly maintained with flooring looking old and dirty in places. We were seated next to the bar area and the first thing we noticed were the fruit flies that were mentioned in other reviews. Mocktails were concentrated sugar syrup with bad presentation. Chicken starter was way overcooked and were difficult to cut into. Dishes in the main course lacked flavour and seasoning. The extra star is for the staff members who had a smile on their face and were helpful for the most part.
I have been a customer at this restaurant for quite a while now. The service has quite acceptable just like the food but my distaste to the food can be overlooked as I am a very picky person when it comes to food. Although I just ordered a meal from Ravensbury today and Im sorry to say that it was in poor conditions. The haryali chicken was a little undercooked and I couldnt taste any proper flavour.Besisdes the chicken, The salad was a let-down too.Not to mention my favourite sauce had some weird new ingredient(some kind of nut)making it taste weirdly tangy when its usually sweet. In addition to this the quantities of food were small but this is expected from Ravensbury as its usually little. the food took a long time to reach my place though that is alright with me.Last but not least the price of the food was more than deserved for the dishes we ordered.I must say that Im disappointed in Ravensbury today. The food service when dining in is a lot better though.Good presentation too. They just lack all of it when u order to door.Im editing my review from 10 months ago right now :I ordered takeout after 10 months and the quality of the chicken is still as bad. The chicken had a unpleasant odour and it was undercooked in the middle. We didnt even eat it because it seemed as though the chicken had gone bad. The portions are just as small as before. I was under the impression the restaurant had better food and service now but its just as bad as before. If you want to eat at this restaurant I recommend going in person to sit in and eat or not going at all.
Really good meal here, the service was fantastic and its great when the waiter recommends things on the menu. I was not disappointed when I asked for the spiciest dish on the menu. We will be back soon!
Not bad at all nice presentation inside, loads of staff helping. Food was decent. Would be a nice place for a first date. Singapore chicken noodles re picture. Small critic I prefer menus with pictures of the food.
The food was ok. Service was amazing. I think i just selected wrong from the meny. Vegetable starters was ok. My main the spicy chicken was a bit disappointing lack favour and was tiny chicken bites which was very chewy.
Visited many times. Great ambience. Very good service. Yummy food. Busy place. Booking recommend. Dance floor next door (check timings). Dance then eat then dance if you are okay with it. Parking available.
Enjoyed a really lovely meal here. Gets very busy so booking highly recommended! Theres a bar area separate to the dining area, which can also be booked for private hire. Starters are very generous, salt & pepper prawns were amazing! Chicken satay and spicy lamb were also really tasty starters. For mains, we shared 3 dishes between 5 people, with peshwari naans and pilau rice, which was plenty for 5! Chicken Karahi, Prawn Masala and Lamb Shank Masala were all really tasty, as were the peshwari naans! Would definitely return!
We had our work dinner here back in June 2018. Attentive staff and great atmosphere. Farnandez (The Managerreally goes that 1 step further to ensure you enjoy your experience. Wonderful ambiance and good food at a fair price. Absolutely loved the food here, the atmosphere was made to feel warm and welcoming. The food was fresh and the herbs and spice was just right. I am a regular now and would recommend others to give it a go. very beautiful renovation they did here. 2 sides to the restaurant, a well lit more family feel side and the night club/bar side.after our booking being given away😒 we were offered the club side which worked out perfect for us a we were a party of 20 and was there to eat, drink mocktails and make just a little noise as we played games with the birthday girl.the reception we got on arrival wasnt the best. when our whole party arrived we all had to squash into the small reception thar seats 6😐 and wait 45minutes for another party to leave so we could have their table - as I said they gave our booking away with no explanations or apology!our server was very nice though, tried his best to serve all 20 of us BY HIMSELF as well as get our drinks (poor thing!)But he never stopped smiling and always displayed manners. they clearly need more staff Especially for larger parties, we were one of 6 from what I could see and it was a SUNDAY evening, it felt more like trying to get a table in a west end restaurant on a Saturday night!the food is slightly pricey but the portions are EXTREMELY generous! taste wise... Merrhh, i got chicken curry and special fried rice. I stuck with my pint of coke @ £3.50 and tap water were as my friends went with expensive mocktails that arrived to the table looking like a glass of juice - no pezaz to it at all. the only down side to the meal was that not only did we wait 30min after being seated to have our orders taken, but we all ordered everything at the same time, so main meals for some were brought out with starters for others and so those that ordered starters waited another 30 minutes for their mains, and the response that was given was "Oh we thought you would tell us when you were ready" (🤔...after you cleared our plates???)So in total 20 of us spent 2 and a half hours just Waiting!! and your front of house guy needs re-training! I would go back again but not as a group - just to give the food another chance! - Get more Staff and train them well... if you want your business to flourish!the customer isnt always right But we do come first #justsayin🤗
Had a great time. Great food. Great atmosphereThe starter menu was great. We ate so much we couldnt eat much for mains. However having seen multiple desserts being served to others we were sure to have that. The desserts were amazing also. I would definitely recommend this place and will go back again.
Took a risk by trying out this new place. Impressed. We came here for lunch with the family for Mothers Day. Good selection of food both Indian and Chinese (Hakka). Though we had more Indian, Im impressed with the food. Cooked well to perfection especially the lamb, grilled to perfection with the right amount of flavour. The only criticism I have was that the Briyani was average and so was the butter chicken. The rest of the food was really good. Portions are big, waiters were friendly and place looks beautiful inside. Work is still being done in the toilets. Really like the decor. Reasonably priced for the quality of the food and quantity. Give it a go. 7.5/10
The transformation of this place is amazing its Indian/Hakka Chinese and just to top it off its halal! The service was good kept being ask if everything okay and if we needed anything. You wont be disappoint this place is a "MUST". The food was reasonable price and the portion size was good too! Must try the chicken lollipop and the honey lamb dish! Lastly the decor is elegant and modern spent a lot of money making it look fantastic. Also it has a bar area if you just want go chill out and catch up with friend. KJ
