The Quay Climbing Centre - Rock climbing gym in Exeter, United Kingdom
Fun filled activity for the children. Will be sure they will fully enjoy the experience. Staff are brilliant with the children. There is also a lovely cafe upstairs overlooking the climbing walls.
Love it, good people, centre and community.
Friendly staff. Great vibe. Love the taller climbs and auto belay made climbing as a group of 3 enjoyable.Cafe also has delicious snacks, pleasantly surprised by the amount of sweet gf snacks!
Great climbing walls but the staff seem more interested in talking to eachother than acknowledging customers
Fab route setting, changed regularly
We had an excellent session with young and adult climbers. Really good. HOWEVER - Do not park at retail park; Smart Parking offer cheap parking and make their money by issuing PCNs for minor infringements and (according to some reviewerseven when users had paid correctly in full. Smart Parking is more or less a scam. They time your stay from driving in to driving out, even if you dont actually park.
MUST VISIT 5* Excellent centre. Quality setting. Great to come back after many years not climbing. Hannah was super cool. Shame its two hours from Falmouth but well worth it. Cornwall is seriously lacking this kind of quality.
Lead and top roaps were good with a variety of routes. Happy to see as many auto belays which makes up for the bouldering room.
Pretty much just top rope and lead, and it was all pretty old school. But the routes were cool (high on The Prow), the staff were friendly and the coffee was awesome!!
Amazing, my 2 boys loved it. The staff were so friendly and kind as well....
Fun for all the family, loved our time there. Will definitely be returning in the future
Popped in today, 2/6/2022 to enquire about climbing for 2 g/children, lady on reception very rude to my husband and said had no info to give and to go online to look up info, not very good customer service, will try other climbing centres
Wonderful staff, great time and exciting routes with the option to learn to belay, use auto belays or learn to lead! Also, the lesser known but no less brilliant yoga sessions!
Dropped in to check it out and maybe just have a coffee. Turned into a clip and climb session after coffee. Friendly staff, and wide range of climbing from novice to advanced with some huge walls in the old power station building.
Love going great fun definitely worth going. 😇😇
Fun place to visit with friends.Afterwards, youll be surprised what great exercise climbing is - recommend trying it out. 👍
Great place for children and adults. Totally safe climbing experience at a very reasonable price. Pre-booking essential in half terms and holidays. Definitely recommended.
My first time attending. It was busy but there were plenty of climbs for everyone and with varying difficulty levels.Theres several auto belays and also lead climbing walls so there really is something for everyone. I didnt go into the bouldering room but it is available. The cafe was good and comfy too. Great Tiffin!
Two years+ of safe belaying of my child while he does indoor climbing, tested and approved by two certified establishments...No, not good enough for Exeters Quay Climbing Centre, refused entry today, apparently I am not safe 🙁I should have listened to my fellow Exeter climbers who discouraged me from going there... Many different reasons, although none of them mentioned the state of the place - I have never seen anything so filthy...I think Exeter Quay Climbing centre - you better get some advice from people who actually do climbing by heart - not for the money involved 🙁
The staff are so polite and really helpful. The setting is incredible and re-set a good amount. In my opinion, the best lead wall in the south!
I now no longer climb here due to the check-in process being so disorganised, some of the staff are just so rude, its extremely over crowded so you have to wait to be able to climb and the bouldering rooms never seem to change! Its a shame, before covid it was a good place to climb. All I can say is Im excited for the new climbing wall to open on Marsh Barton!
Absolutely love this place. Im new to climbing but am hooked already. The Quay Climbing Centre are always resetting their walls on a regular basis. The staff are really helpful and knowledgeable. The cake is AMAZING too for when youve had a good climb or bouldering session and earnt yourself cake and coffee. Great place xx
Amazing atmosphere and a unique climbing experience with many regularly changed routes, top rope , lead climb ,autobelay and bouldering
Wicked climbing centre, great staff and perfect for rope climbing. Could do with a better bouldering room but prioritising the space makes sense :)
Mainly a top rope/lead climbing centre but the two bouldering rooms suited me very well and gave me a good evenings climb. Great staff too. Would recommend :)
We had great fun climbing with Vinny our instructor. Thank you for a fab taster climbing experience. My daughters loved it.
Fab setup for kids (and some adults!on the clip n climb walls. Lovely helpful and encouraging staff.
Great centre. Loads of walls for both top rope and lead climbing. Really friendly and helpful staff.
Fantastically organised and felt really safe. Time slots, lots of space, lots of sanitiser around the place. Hadd a great afternoon, thanks.
My little 8 year-old aughter had her heart set on climbing here, after trying to book online (doesnt work on Androidand to telephone to make a booking (no one picked up for an hour of tryingwe drove for an hour and a half to fulfill her dream. When we got there we were told she couldnt climb as there were no more spaces available, no apologies were made, no accomodations provided or assistance given...just a very blunt and rude "No".Customer service is shocking, if it wasnt such a good venue Id veto it on general principle as being run by arrogant a**holes. Dont expect warmth, kindness or understanding if you do come here, your just a number on the revenue sheet.DEEPLY DISSAPOINTED
Not great if you just want to boulder, two tiny rooms and very little variety in route settings - impossible for beginners to get a good session in, especially.Brushes are in limited supply and the lack of a traverse wall (fundamental for a bouldering centreor a changing room is puzzling.Staff are pushy when it comes to end of your session, especially when no else is waiting to use the routes.Avoid.
Quay climbing centre is a good climbing place, especially for visitors and beginners, it has a lot of walls and a good variety as well as auto belays, leading and belayingFor regular comers the routes arent changed that regularly so it can be a bit stale going each week, but the ones put are very good and will help push your grade, especially in terms of leadingBouldering rooms are a little small but give a good variety too weekly comers, and a pull up bar, finger board and hoops for strengtheningI would recommend going
I stated climbing ropes here a little over a year ago and I have gone from strength to strength with my climbing. The coaches and in fact all the staff who work there are so passionate about climbing and it makes a whole load of a difference.I also have just started to boulder here and despite the size of a the boulder rooms there is a lot of cool routes too. I’m not sure how often they reset but it’s always really cool to see what they come up with
Great climbing centre, plenty of routes changed regularly and good value. Done a great job of making the venue covid-safe!
Love it, two bouldering rooms, loads of roped climbing and a clip of climb area for kids. The cafe has an excellent choice while you "recover" as well.
I’m a newbie at climbing and they make you feel so welcome. I go fortnightly and I really enjoy going. There are friendly staff there that will help you work to your skill level It has given me so much confidence and helps with my anxiety tooThey also have a really nice cafe where you can get drinks.Would highly recommend giving it a go at least once10/10
Great place to climb easy to set up and use, staff are always there to hep and there a wide range of claims including 2 bouldering rooms.
Really nice gym that is clean and professional. Only reason I gave four stars was because the website said they have a training room, but there is only a a small 10x10 training area which is built onto the main climbing floor.
We visit the Quay for bouldering. The bouldering area is very disappointing. There are 2 very small rooms for bouldering. The other services looks good.
A great place to visit rain or shine. The equipment is easy to use and staff always about to lend a hand. 25 different climbs for the starter climbs of different levels.
Great place and friendly people. Naturally they can be very busy and thats the own downside that sometimes its so full. Would love some water on the Clip and Climb side as the kids get super hot. But all in all.... so worth a visit for anyone looking to try something new, or to entertain the kids:)
Im a regular at The Quay - its great for climbers of all levels. They also have yoga classes running there that are awesome for improving your climbing core strength and flexibility.
Great facility with plenty of routes and great staff
Booked this for our sons birthday after a friend had mentioned it.We were the only ones there as we booked a later session but we all loved it! A great variety of walls and other obstacles, very thrilling and challenging, would definately go again. Thank you
This is a great place to come and exercise. Very relaxed and easy going staff who are friendly and ready to help out when you need it. We had a great instructor show us how to tie in properly and get our basic certification done. That covers 2 sessions at £15 each, then providing youve proven you can tie in and belay safely youre allowed loose on any of the standard climbing walls. There is a great variety of challenge and difficulty in each wall, and they change things up every month or so, which means that you cant get too complacent on your favourite wall. My tip would be to avoid Wednesday night which is when it seems to get flooded with students during term time. The café at the main desk has a great selection off sweet and savoury, as well as she good drinks options. There are also bouldering rooms off of the main climbing wall roms. Ibelieve they also have an area for parties as well.
Cools gym for lead and toprope climbing! Boulder rooms are a bit small... But cant have everything! AND! They have gluten free pizza, cakes and slices!! ❤ What more could you need!
Awesome climbing centre, great routes, friendly staff, lovey building. Theres a clip and climb as part of the centre, lots of top ropes that are good for beginners, an awesome lead wall, and 5 auto-belays. Highly recommended!
Amazing routes for everybody, either starting to climb or an avid climber. The routes change from time to time so you dont get stuck climbing the same routes over and over again. Small but decent boulder areas
As the only centre in Exeter, this is a great place to climb for beginners and avid climbers alike. They don’t reset the top-roping and lead walls as often as I’d like, however two bouldering walls are changed every season. The quality of the setting varies. Most regulars here are very friendly. There is a small training room with a pull-up bar and hangboards, as well as a well-stocked cafe upstairs. Avoid Wednesday and Friday nights if you dislike busy walls as this is when the university climbing club has sessions.
Great centre even for the kids. We let our 2 kids go for 1 1/2 hours on the Clip & Climb part for £10 each which I think is good value. There are climbs I wouldnt even do. They loved it. Will let them do it again when in Exeter for the day.
