Sophisticated seasonal British gastropub in an old Victorian pumping house with waterside seating.
Very expensive and soulless inside.: £13.50 large white wine!!!!!!! Lovely outside terrace overlooking water
Nice relaxed atmosphere, quiet on my visit but cant imagine it being overly crowded and loud. Food was fine, bit too much salt for my taste but that might be just me. Standard is definitely better than normal pub food.
Food was very good with friendly service but there was a rather unpleasant smell in the ground floor bar
Good menu at reasonable prices. Very friendly staff. Great place to eat.
Great location. Food is good pub grub and drinks are great. Staff could be friendlier but it was a particularly busy day so maybe they were stressed. Giving three stars because it has so much more potential considering its location. Would like to see this pub do more.
Beer was nice enough, cider was lovely. Lots of space, it was even a nice treat to enjoy some late teen apathy while we were getting our drinks. I remember the feeling well... chin up soldier... its not that bad..
One of the best meals I have had in my 2 years in the UK. The "dry aged and oglesheid bacon-cheeseburger" is an impeccable choice.I recommend getting this burger alongside a pint of the Bristol beer factory ale 👍
Dont know why title page on Google says sophisticated, its overpriced with boring interior and rude staff.Oh. I like lights outside.otherwise nicer meals elsewhere.
Nice seating area outside over looking the marina, busy but drinks came quickly, didnt eat here but other peoples portions looked good.
Personally the drinks are too expensive here. Staff also insist on table service which just seems to rush the process from start to finish.
Food was very tasty Veggie & Vegan dishes. Unfortunately they were slow to arrive due to a miss understanding!
Nice Pub right on the water, good seating inside and out, bit more expensive to a few other pubs near by, but it is cleaner and great staff.
Stopped on our cycle ride thinking this would be a nice place to stop for a drink and a light bite. Waiter showed us to a table and gave us menus promptly (this part was friendly and cannot be faulted), informed us it was table service, then never returned to take our order. We tried to grab their attention multiple times to make our order then gave up and left after 15 mins of waiting. Consequently cannot comment on the food or drink, but extra star given for the free water tap so at least we didn’t go away thirsty.
Nice place and friendly staff. Drinks are very expensive. £10 for a Gin and lemonade 🙄
Poor service. Food arrived before drinks, asked for our drinks and were served beer instead of cider. We had to pay upfront but tables around us didn’t. Seemed very under staffed
Quiet Wednesday lunchtime but slow service and lady insisted on seating people and table service. Would have been much quocker/easier to just order 4 soft drinks at bar. Beautiful location
I would say very mixed experience. The location is lovley and the graden is great. They have table service only and they add 12% service charge upfront(!). Fair enough if staff wouldnt have forgotten they sat us down.It took good 20min to even get someones attention to get menus. We have waited ages for food. My burger was lovely and very tasty unfortunately my friends meal looked more like a started rather than main meal. Overall I would say a bit overpriced for what it is and slow service but yet again food and location is good.
As a Harbourside local, I’ve been visiting the pump house for years now. The venue is stunning and the food and wine selection is spot on. So it’s really unfortunate that consistently, some of the staff tend to be abrupt, inattentive and make you feel like a bit of a nuisance for simply wanting to enjoy their restaurant. Every time I go back I hope for a different experience!
Lovely, unique place by the docks with good food and a great beer selection. Staff are friendly and attentive but low key. Ideal. The outdoor area is equally lush with some sorts of it covered. Love this place.
Pump house is a great old building thats been a pub for as long as I can remember. Went there recently and its changed slightly. Table service outside which I enjoyed. Not the cheapest pub but great views
Great service, great food and ideal location for anyone looking for a bit of something different on Bristol harbour side.
Nice place to sit outside. Table service with friendly staff. Local ales on draft, not a huge selection but good quality.
A nice location and a great pint. Table service only.
So at first, we did not have a good experience with a miscommunication from one of the staff. However when we relayed this to the manager she was fantastic - she was apologetic, kind and settled our discrepancy. Very impressed.
Lovely setting by the waterfront, great food, and they keep the menu simple without overwhelming you with choice. Really nice staff
Food was great - service was incredibly slow. Just two waiters for the whole place. Expect a 90 minute turnaround between sitting down and paying for 2 courses
Very pleasant bar and restaurant on the edge of the harbour side. Ive had both a full meal and smaller dishes here and these have never disappointed. Availability can be a bit hit or miss especially during the sunnier days so worth planning in advance if youre to visit.
Nice venue and nice staff. Had roast beef dinner followed by panna cotta. The beef was as tough as anything and the Panama cotta wasnt set. Service was slow.
Its a lovely pub in a great location (tad overpricedbut what really lets it down is the terrible service. They insist on table service when theres three people behind the bar chatting away. We waited 15 minutes after twice asking for our drinks order to be taken before walking away. This has happened two or three times since Covid, maybe go back to a blended model of bar and table service? I know this has happened to friends who have visited too, please sort this out as wed love to come back.
We were showed to our seats and explained we had half hours hour ... just having a drink as catching a bus. We waited and waited ... whent into pub... our drinks were ready sat on bar with staff just chatting... they had to top up beer as settled ... needless to say had to drink fast !!
Drinks werent cheap but the dinner offer of food and a drink for 12 was very reasonable the day we went it was mussels and frites and was quite a generous portion with the location and decent weather is a cracking place to spend a couple of hours by the water
Been here a few times and it doesnt disappoint, very nice staff and a great selection of drinks to suit all. Great spot next to the water , always busy. Table service both inside and out for the moment.
Lovely location and friendly staff.Reasonable prices also.Very relaxing, could do with music though
Came across this pub during our walk. Sign outside the beer garden said-wait to be seated, but no one showed up for 10 min. Walked in thinking it’s order at the bar inside, one serving staff quickly notices and comes along and says it’s not order at the bar so we ask to get a table outside. Was then told, there’s a different team of servers who’d seat us outside and take order so I go out and take a table but no one shows up for another 15 min at which point I walked off. Poor communication and poor service.
Mixed experience at this place- we came in as a group looking for a quick drink. The drinks our group had were pretty good but the service wasnt great. The service was slow even though the pub wasnt that busy, the staff were quite abrupt and our bill took a look time to arrive. One of the people I was drinking with got given the wrong order. There was weird atmosphere and I dont think this place really merits the 12.5% service charge but the selection of drinks is pretty decent.
Portion size was exceptionally small... this is a main... and there was a very poor selection of vegan options (in fact no official options at all - just this variation on the veggy burger). Nice ambiance and location (outsidewith friendly service.
This was a find, a nice Riverside walk from the old town, give yourself 20 minutes. Book ahead for a seat, outside is walk ups only but there is only limited covered seats outside.Good beer and wine selection, although not many choices, you will find something. Lots of fun, and soft drinksVaried menu, served hot and promptly.Staff helpful and attentive. We were offered water as soon as we were seated, which is a nice touch. There is a cafe deli during the day, and fairy lights at night.Well worth visiting.
We visited to celebrate my 60th birthday as apart of a Pub Crawl. We sit outside in accordance with COVID19 regs. The staff were welcoming and attentive, a variety of Glastonbury Ales / Ciders were presented to a high standard. Serving was at reasonable pace and several option were drunk. A comprehensive food was offered but tried this trip. Both the grain barge and the pump house local brew offering were complimentary, it is less than 10 minutes between the two, would visit again.
Incredible selection of gin. Also the best fish and chips I’ve had in years.
I am so thrilled to be able to buy milk on tap in the helpyourself milk shed in the car park, reusing a glass bottle and then buy lovely veg and deli products from inside. Heres my haul today.
Booked for a lunch on recommendation and It was stunning food wise.Top marks for social distancing protocols and track ‘n trace.Lets come to the food, the gem lettuce 🥬 dish with the broth and vegetables was delicious. The sauce conveyed a unique taste, it wasnt too buttery and was sour and spicy. I bet it was a healthy sauce. So dip your breads in the sauce and enjoy it.Main course - hake, mussels, grapes 🍇 and bed of spinach and the same classic sauce. Fish and chips was classic but do remember to get your vinegar. The dip is thick and I bet its fatty, but you don’t have to finish it.I highly recommend it.
I was impressed by how helpful and warm the staff were. they were also mindful about keeping everyone safe and had the right measures in place. the whole brill was very tasty and we enjoyed a lovely birthday lunch outside. thank you for a very pleasant experience.
This is a great place for lunch or dinner, or just a drink. The staff are nice and there are nice seating areas throughout. The location is great right on the docks, with some seating outside. There was a lack of vegetarian options on the menu when we visited.
Nice pub, great selection of gin... Perfect until the bar shut 50 minutes early, no notification and an incredibly rude bar manager who didnt even want to take money for a bag of crisps!Note to business: If you state your opening times on Google dont expect positive reviews on there when your actions are both contradictory and incredibly rude
I’ve been here about 4 times, and It’s my favourite Sunday roast in Bristol! The staff is super friendly, the location is quite nice specially in sunny days (if summer there is a large outside seating areafacing the canal. The restaurants offers limited parking which could be handy specially for those with kids. The food is phenomenal and as a pub a vast selection of spirits and beers. The interior decoration quite quirky, with lots of old enamel signs and adverts. A must!
Its location makes this a great place on a sunny day..its a little pretentious with its food offering, somewhat expensive and perhaps a little too ambitious for its lunch time trade...it apparently won an award some years ago and has never really got over it...generally its a good place, good beer, and lovely staff...well worth a visit.
Good service and good recommendation for my drink: an Hot pimms and it was great! I also managed to get dry after the pouring rain. Thank you!
Lovely outside seating area right on the quiet part of the harbour (Beautiful views without the loud crowds that can often be found nearer the Centre).A little pricey, but their selection of gins is impressive! They dont have a list of their gins, but they are all displayed behind on a wall behind the bar. A bartender will choose a Gin of the Day to help you pick if the choice is too overwhelming!Friendly staff and a nice atmosphere.
Nice upmarket bar and restaurant in a great location overlooking the river. Outside seating area is pleasant and comfortable to sit in, the only frustration was the seagulls pinching my food. The quality of food there is good, interior decor is upmarket and again comfortable. If you are a gin lover this a great place to try out as they have at least over 100 different bottles. Only negative is that its expensive.
Its a nice spot a bit out of the city centre. Nice harbour view outside. Food is decent. Some of the waiting staff are excellent. Beware that you will probably need to wait for a while to get your food. I have only tried the pub downstairs, not the restaurant upstairs.
