The Public House - Cocktail bar in Bay City, United States
Best BRUNCH EVER!!! 🫶🍃
Extremely friendly and knowledgeable bartenders.Variety of tasty cocktails.
Handcrafted cocktails, and unique small plates of food. A chill place to go as long as you are not in a hurry. Beautifully decorated. We loved ut.
Hands down the best drinks in town, absolutely perfect.
Super chill atmosphere!! Both the drinks and food was fantastic.
Stopped in for the first time to grab a nightcap. It’s a pretty looking space done up in white with a fresh green backdrop. Sat at the bar to find friendly staff and ordered my standard Manhattan. Though they didn’t have my preferred whiskey the tender offered something just as good. Well mixed in an enjoyable atmosphere. Will wonder back through again! The rest of the cocktail list and fresh fruit on-hand did look interesting and worth a try.
Great place to kick off date night with a cocktail and some appetizers! Dion is a craftsman at crafting craft drinks. Have one or two. This is not your typical bar. It’s for those who enjoy a quality cocktail! The food and service is top notch and the atmosphere makes you feel like you are on vacation!
Super classy and quaint cocktail bar. The decor is beautiful and the staff is kind. It’s quiet and small; a great please for meet a friend or two for a nightcap. Definitely not a place to get hammered!
Cool atmosphere. Interesting drink choices. A little pricey, but a very cool experience. Very cool atmosphere.
Today was our first time here and we definitely loved everything! Great service, delicious food and oh what can I say about their cocktails! Lovely🥰🥰🥰
Always a great atmosphere and friendly staff. The food is great and the drinks are unique and hand crafted. Brunch is one of the best in the area.
Great cocktails in an industrial design inspired place. Love it
Went on a Saturday morning, sign said they were open those hours and yet it was closed ... Dont live in Bay City ... Disappointed ☹️ Update ... The signs were in clear black and white on door and window (left sideHusband and I can both read ... Covid places are opened back up .... That excuse is no longer working when others post pics from previous weekend.
My absolute favorite cocktail bar in Bay City. From the drinks, staff, decor, etc everything is classy. Truly a one of a kind experience. Always excited for my next visit.
One of the better places to get a great cocktail in the tri-cities. Bartenders were awesome and welcoming. If you cant decide a drink from their menu then their staff can guide you or mix up something to suit your taste.
Great place for a cocktail! Bartenders are friendly, personable, and very knowledgable.
Absolutely love the atmosphere! The cocktails and food are amazing as well. Great service!
Overall good experience. Service was a bit slow and we did get the wrong food, but the staff was super friendly and got it fixed up right away. We will be coming back for dinner soon, so look for an updated review in the near future!
What a cute hidden gem! Stopped in for a cocktail, tasty and refreshing! Didnt get a chance to eat, but the smells will bring me back!!
Best cocktails in Michigan. Very LA meets Chicago feel. Great variety and styles along with tasty appetizers. Staff was receptive to making particular drinks as well and making suggestions.
Had a great time trying the drinks and learning the menu with staff. The cocktails are creative and fun and the food was fantastic. If youre ever in Bay City, is recommend stopping in!
Excellent cocktail menu and our server Ethan was great. Try the stuffed dates when youre on a date, so good were making them tomorrow!
Been there quite a few times. The staff are attentive. The bartenders are well versed in their craft. The ambience is excellent.
We went for the mixologist and were not disappointed! We went around 5 on a tuesday, it was nice and quite. Went with the servers recommendation "Oh thats dangerous" which was the perfect combination of home shaved ice, fruit and vodka. It was fun to watch the mixologist make the drink as well.
Very nice atmosphere! High quality and great service, it’s pricy but worth it. Also love the fact that you can have a conversation without feeling like you’re yelling.
Incredible!! Food was delicious from the build-your-own cheese board to the chicken & waffles! Drinks were phenomenal and the presentation was gorgeous. Definitely recommend
Clean kept, well decorated, and super friendly service. I enjoyed the drinks, and purchased a piece of cake too. The Moscow mules were good and you can tell made from scratch, but there was way too much ice, and too much mint for the garnish... not sure of the price because a friend paid. I did pay for the cake though and $8 was too much for a slice of cake, home made or not.... Maybe I dont know exactly what it took to make it, to appreciate it. Ill for sure be back though!
Brought out of town friends here May 24, 2019. I have been here several times before and am always impressed by the decor, atmosphere, service, and amazing cocktails. This time we were blown away by the new menu. We ordered the food tapas style. The four of us shared all of the small plates so we could try more. We thought the best dishes were the bacon wrapped dates and steak bites. The savory brussels, tuna poke bowl, and cheese plate was exceptional as well. The tacos we had were good but not as amazing as the above. My out of town guests were thoroughly impressed. The price points on the food were also fair. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
Phenomenal handcrafted drinks, excellent service, delicious food and a great ambience...definitely the best cocktails in Bay City. They even have Happy Hour weekdays 4-6 😉
Best place to get a mixed drink in the tri-cities by far. Order one of their specialty cocktails or get your usual drink to see what its supposed to taste like. Amber is probably the best mixologist in the area but all of the people behind the bar can make a great drink. With talent and quality does come price so dont go if your looking for a $4 rum and coke.
Great place to go for drinks, unfortunately with a food menu change, all of the meat-free/ dairy-free options were removed for whatever reason. So I cannot recommend it as a place to go for those who require those options.
Bartenders are helpful when trying to pick the right drink. The food is delicious and they usually roll out a new menu or at least try and change it a little every season or so
Great drinks. Had to keep getting more
Ive been coming here regularly for several months now and the staff are unfailingly friendly and accommodating. If you arent sure what you want but have a vague idea, they are more than happy and capable of making a drink youll love based on what you tell them. The bathrooms and general area are always very well-maintained and the atmosphere is upscale but still very cozy. This is one of my favorite places to bring friends who are new to the area, or on a date with my partner, or even by myself for a delicious beverage after a stressful week. Ill always be greeted with nothing less than a smile, friendly conversation, and great service.
Great cocktails, and terrific ownership! The food was good, and the cocktails were great! A bit more costly than most Bay City establishments, but the trade off for a well mixed cocktail and great experience was worth the expense.
The Public House is an amazing gem in Bay City that is as good or better than craft cocktail bars Ive been to in Las Vegas, Chicago, and Detroit. They have true passion and skill for what theyre doing, and all of the bartenders are knowledgeable enough to make the perfect drink for you, whether its a classic thats not on the menu or an improvisational work of art tailored to your tastes. Impeccable attention to detail is shown in everything they do here, and if you order a cocktail because you like the sound of the ingredients, you will be able to taste every single element. Their drinks also become something more than the sum of their parts, like some kind of alchemical magic. I cant say enough good things about this place. Also, everyone is super friendly, especially Amber and Em.
Unique and tasty drinks. The atmosphere was trendy and hip, really exciting to have this bar in Bay City. Looking forward to going back!
Met a friend for some drinks and appetizers. Great atmosphere, serious bartenders and decent food. A couple annoyances would be that the bar stools are immovable and a bit close for two friends. The bathroom is obviously for just one person at a time, although it has no lock. Overall a nice experience.
In my opinion, The Public House is the best place in Bay City for craft cocktails. The staff is friendly, the ambience is great, and the drinks are fantastic! Very unique for this area.
The Public House is a gem in Bay City. If you enjoy great cocktails and unique food, this is the place to go. My personal favorite is their take on the Moscow Mule, its the bees knees. They also have great events here too, such as Taco Tuesday, Tiki Thursday, and special food "takeovers" (i.e. sushi from Maru). Great atmosphere, staff, and overall experience. If you are in the area, definitely stop in here!
Unique drinks and a really cool atmosphere. A great place to sit and have cocktails and some intelligent conversation. Music is very low key atmosphere very classy. Really enjoyed cocktails with my daughter.
Very unique place for Bay City. If you are going to go out and want to have a nice one to two drink experience with a light meal or app this is the place. We were there for sushi night and tried the crabby mushrooms which were good. But the drinks are the stars here and make sure to watch them craft the drink too!
Contemporary custom cast concrete bar, original brick walls painted white, a living green wall backing up the bar, and simple furnishings are a welcome relief in a town that typically tilts toward fussy, eclectic antique choked spaces. My rye Manhattan was delicious! We had chicken, carne asada, and black bean mushroom tacos that had completely different, fresh flavor profiles, and a riff on a mushroom melt sandwich with a side of sweet potato, cabbage cole slaw with fresh made aioli. All were delicious. Im not a fan of fresh onions, but they were easily picked out and set aside. It was 6:45 PM on a Saturday evening, about 1/3 full, and the music was loud enough to clearly hear but didnt interfere with normal conversation.Compared to the urban prices I pay for comparable food and drink - its a bargain. I only wish I could try their Sunday brunch.
Unbelievably good brunch this afternoon with highest quality ingredients, imaginative pairings, more than ample serving sizes, beautiful presentation, happy cozy atmosphere and terrific waitstaff. The three of us left very happy indeed. Will bring a larger posse next time. 😀
Not a fan. Atmosphere is fine if you are a young hipster. Not for the 30-40 range. Beer choices limited and pretty much a total rip off for what I got. This will not be a place for me.
Went in and had a couple cocktails the other night, and, let me tell you, it was fan-tastic!However, drinking did lead to my need to visit the facilities a couple times and thats where my experience went to a whole new level.I love the bathroom decor. Very minimalistic, very clean--which is very important when it comes to judging bathrooms. I appreciated the see-through storage cabinet, as I do not like running out of toilet paper while in the restroom. The cabinet showcased the forethought that went into stocking for this cocktail bar and prevents anxiety within those of us who constantly worry while in our most vulnerable of positions. There was a single candle lighting the bathroom but overhead lights are available to the observant. The walls, like much of the interiors, are painted white, which is pleasing. Im not making a political statement, rather, I just appreciate the way in which white things dont absorb as much light.I was only able to see the mens room but got a peek at the womens room, too (only for the purposes of this review). There are a few minor differences that I noticed but I didnt have time to snap as many photos of the lady-john as I wished. However, I did try my darndest to get my traveling companion to go take pictures but she refused, saying I was "being weird." Nonetheless, I highly recommend both bathrooms at the Public House (but only for paying patrons!).My only complaint about my experience was that I didnt know how to lock the bathroom doors, at first, which lead to a slightly awkward moment where I had to converse with a man as I was washing my hands. He asked me whether this was "a two person operation" or not. Im not witty so I only said, "no." The lock to the door is located directly under the handle (one of the pictures highlights this feature so no one else has to experience such a crises again).Anyway, the food and drinks at the public house are great so go check them out. The hand carved ice is totally see through because of the unique way in which they freeze their cubes.Good luck to all the employees and the wonderful owner, Lyndsay!
Love the atmosphere here, the bartender was great and really enjoyed my drink!!! It was beautiful.
Great drinks, food, and atmosphere. Interior is beautiful, clean/simple/modern with a eye popping hanging garden of greens behind the bar.The caliber of a craft drink/food establishment one would find only in a major metropolitan area which is why its such a treat in Bay City
Its a super fancy place. The cocktails are top notch. You can customize your drinks, the bartenders are really skilled. Dont really have a lot of food options, but the tacos we tried were really great. The ambience is great, have a pretty archaic feel. The ice spheres were fascinating :)
Excellent artisan drinks and food. Staff is warm and friendly too. Very cool exposed brick look inside. Definitely recommend you go
