The Pterocarpus Forest - Museum in Fajardo, Puerto Rico
The Pterocarpus Forest in Fajardo
Description
Very nice and beautiful was a good experience 👌
This place is great for having a peaceful and immersive stroll through a small but rich and unique forest. The place is not just great for enjoying the natural scenery, but also to experience "an open-air classroom", as stated in one of the many informative cards that provide brief explanations of selected flora and fauna that call this forest home. If you want to go deeper you can take advantage of the complementary virtual tour. I highly recommend this place and look forward to coming back.
MoreThis was a fun and well kept place to walk around in the shade of the dense trees on the boardwalk. The trees were interesting. Herd a few frogs and birds and saw a couple of iguanas. Climbed the tower to look around. Couldn’t see much but we did it! You don’t need tickets. It is free.
MoreQuiet place to recharge or simply get away from the city. Entrance is free but donations are welcome.
MoreA nice Forest walk in a special place.
Small preserve but very unique experience
It was a neat walk. Not very large. I got to see pretty much all of it in about 45 minutes.
MoreIs a small forest, can be explored in an hour, with a lot of signs to ID the floral and fauna of the area.
MoreVery nice little nature preserve, lots of interesting plants and animals - and its all free!
MoreVery nice. Not too big and saw most of it!!
Well maintained and signed, small first. A needed bit of greenery in a mega resort.
MoreGreat facility.
Nice little nature walk. Included an app to due a virtual tour guide.
Informative, refreshing. Boardwalks and tower add a unique perspective as to how much forest has been lost to development.
MoreVery cool and deceptively large natural forest in the middle of Palmas del Mar community. Worth visiting! Great for picnic, yoga, nature lovers and more.
MoreShort walk on a raised platform through the forest. The tower would hypothetically have great views, but the trees have grown higher than the tower, so no views. Be warned, this is inside a gated community so it may be a challenge to access.
MoreGreat little park with an interesting walk through a unique wetland. Informative signage along the way taught us Minnesotans about the plants and animals. Well done and worth our time!
MoreVery informative and no mosquitoes!! Great park, but slightly hard to find. Very cool swamp!
MoreBeautiful tropical Park with paved road and parking space! There is a security guard to pass in order to get to the park as if it is only for private members but it is opened for public. You can just pass through the security entrance with the car and get to the park.
MoreThis is a wonderful nature walk. It is well maintained and has a board walk that you can do in less than an hour unless you want to take the time to look closely to trees and surrounding nature. We all loved it. Sings in English and Spanish and there are restrooms.
MoreThis was a nice easy stop on our way back from Ponce. Close to the highway. It is inside of a gated community. Beautiful trees. Boardwalk takes you through the deep forest. Lizards abound. Recommend bug spray. Good for a leg stretch. Free and plenty of parking. Only closed when the water gets too high. Otherwise always open.
MoreLovely place to Walk , have a picnic or take pics.. will definitely visit again soon 👍😍
MoreIts a beautiful forest with lots of animals including insects, birds and reptiles. Great place to go with family and friends. Great for taking pictures. 📸😎
MoreIf your wanting to something free and Walk around a look at natures I would suggest to take a look at this place.
MoreHad a great time experiencing the local flora and fauna. There was a nice breeze on the day I went. I’d recommend to wear walking shoes for a better experience.
MoreThis is a short nature walk, but it was mostly shaded to keep you cool and there were no mosquitoes! Definitely a nice place to take the kiddos for a little adventure.
MoreWe bumped into this calming place during our morning walk at Palmas del mar in Humacao. So peaceful and relaxing.
MoreHappy we stopped by this place. Quick and easy walk around a mini rain forest with some info about the local birds and plants.
MoreShort easy walk with plenty of signs and even an app that explains some of the plants and animals you see along the way.
MoreGreat Place for kids and nature.
Very scenic and safe
Beautiful and mysterious place. Puerto Rico has so many marvels. I didnt even know this place existed until today. Great for trekking. And for spectacular pics too!
MoreBeen here a couple of times and every time is more peaceful.
Swamp/Forest. Short boardwalk hike. Scan the code provided for a virtual tour.
It was surprising to find such a place in Palmas del Mar. It has a trail with a virtual tour following an app. Very interesting. Recommend wearing long pants and long sleeve shirts. It is very humid once one enter the forest.
MoreNice walk through the forest.
Very nice short walk thru nature.
Nice to walk around and see nature.
A wonderful conservation nature area. Lots of wildlife to see. The tower gets you above the canopy. The boardwalk allowed lots of closeup time. I plan to return near sunset to possibly see more birds.
MoreFun walk for the family. Nice tower to view the forest. Lots of lizards, geckos, SPIDER webs, some turtles and friendly people
MoreBeautiful and relax place. Love nature.
A free 51-acre swamp forest in Palmas del Mar, Humacao, Puerto Rico. Its a nature walk through the Pterocaprus Forest (or El Bosque de Pterocarpusthrough a wooded boardwalk. There are bilingual educational signs about the flora and fauna of the area all along the walkway. Its worth the visit.
MoreThis forest walk is a gem in Palmas del Mar. Car parking is slightly hidden behind the big church and next to the property administration buildings, but the signs are easy to follow. The trail starts as a concrete path and continues into the forest swamp area on a raised boardwalk. The boardwalk is extensive, maybe 3/4 of a mile long, and has informative signs about the animals and ecosystem along the way. We went in the early afternoon and saw iguanas, lots of lizards, turtles, and several birds including a beautiful large white crane. Importantly there are no mosquitoes, which is a feature of this type of forest. The trail is totally shaded by the forest and has a few rest areas. This is a great short excursion out of the sun for a family and would be stroller friendly.
MoreAmazing scenery. Just a beautiful walk through a lush green garden.
Excelence for a family picnic and curiosity nature pictures. 📸 Wilma Hernández and 📸Airbanas Studios
MoreA surprise escape amongst the boats in the Marina and Golfing. Bird watching and nature experience in style. Platform walkways laid out over the marsh and ground so you never have a wrong step. Did I mention the huge iguanas & observation deck 3 stories tall.
MoreGreat place for a walk in the swap. Elevated boardwalk made it easy. Take time to stop and look around. You will appreciate it all the more.
MoreNice for a walk. Be sure to apply repellent. Lots of vegetation, spiders and spider webs.
MoreNeat little 15 minute trail, definitely worth doing once
A nice place to meet with mother nature. In around 30 minutes you can walk and see the entire place.
