21-22 Maiden Ln, Covent Garden, London WC2E 7NA, Kinkala
Large pub with gleaming copper pipes, imported draught beers and late-night basement music club.
Me and my friend wanted a nice Sunday lunch after a day of shopping in Covent Garden and stumbled upon this place. When we saw the roast dinners coming out they looked huge and appealing! but Im afraid they were extremely disappointing! The beef was chewy, and lacked taste, the roast potatoes were dry along with overcooked tasteless veg!! Plus it didnt taste fresh!! All in all we will not be going back here to eat. Not good at all thats why I only rated 2 stars...and for £18.50!!! you expect a decent meal! Dont waste your money!
Nice place to come for drinksLighting makes it a little hard to navigate. Loos are downstairsGood amount of beer and wine sections to choose from.
Good beer, friendly service, live music and all in the centre of Covent Garden.
Basic good food. Staff friendly table service. Good atmosphere but busy so limited tables. Poor lighting use phone to read menu
Fantastic pub with brilliant service and the most awsome female door staff... dhe was so lovely!
Excellent Irish pub, great beer! Perhaps a bit noisy for an old fella like me.
Great pub. Great beer. Security guards really nice. Shame about the glass collector wearing a mask in the garden. Embarrassing really
Great beer. Dreadful food. Frozen burgers with no taste, chips undercooked. Chicken burger usually a safe option. Not here.
The Porterhouse is one of my favourite central London pubs. Its like a TARDIS as its so enormous inside compared to outside. Its also steeped in history and has a certain vibe to it as a building. Definitely visit of youre in the area.
Amazing place, such nice staff, shout out to the Irish man about 40 , grey but not grey hair with glasses. He was so friendly and nice. Would go back for him! Is very pricey however
Stumbled upon this place by fluke and was glad we did, the home brewed pints are some of the nicest Ive ever tried. If it wasnt for the fact we had to only spend an hour here before a show I could of easily have gotten quite sloshed.
Nice pub, three floors, spacious, with live music performance. Quite good!
Attended a works gathering on a Thursday night. This not something I do regularly and have to say the energy was good within the bar. Staff were friendly and the service was quick.I dont drink alcohol and they had really cold Peroni 0.0 which was lovely. The food wasnt the greatest but satisfied my hunger. I was pleased they had plenty of vegan options on the menu. The security staff were friendly and made you feel welcome.Generally we call had a good time.
Excellent for drinks....many different beers on tap. Live bands Fridays and Saturdays.
My go to place to take friends and family visiting London. Also a good spot to have a few before heading out to eat. They have their own beers which are decent enough, and they have plenty guest beers on rotation. The building itself its great, albeit it gets absolutely crowded any given day.
This pub is simply amazing and a must visit while in London. A very large selection of great beers and love music
One of my best place in London. Wide range of beer selection, lovely decoration, friendly staff. Highly recommended.
Nice pub, good staff. Really interesting setup, multi levelled with plenty of bats and a great outdoor space. Even the door staff are friendly
Such a nice pub, the staff and service are amazing! Must say Sam who was on the door was lovely and super welcoming! Will definitely go back for Sam alone :)
Nice multilevel pub. Prices are ok for central London. Burgers were good and drinks were good as well.Live music was amazing. The outdoors area was very nice as well.
Have been a couple of times and its definitely my favourite pub in the covent garden area. My parents loved it when they came down to see me and so do the 2 friends I took there. Great staff, a HUGE selection of beer and their garlic bread is TO DIE FOR. I look forward to every time I get to go.
Aug 2022As they are brewing company, their tap beer are original ones. I had one of IPA and another ale. Yep, they taste good. Frankly speaking, I like other independent breweries.
Big and sprawling pub with a lot going on. Nice patio put front. Beer selection was unique and good.
4 of us met for beer and talk about nuclear. Did not eat. Great choice of tables indoors and out a big selection of gluten free beers.
We happened to drop in here on a wim and what a fantastic decision it was. The choice of beers was incredible and will defo be back 👍
Friendly service. Good selection of beers , ales and ciders. Great pub for casual drinks with friends or after work with colleagues. Often very busy on weekends and Friday nights. Food is not as good as the drinks. Seems to lack freshness and quality and not particularly tasty. But seeing as it’s probably a pub geared more towards drinking still give it 4 stars
The Porterhouse is a Covent Garden institution. Full of leather, brass and copper furnishings it has an atmosphere all of its own. With a huge range of beers theres something for everyone. Once upon a time it used to be considered expensive, but with beer in The City running at £7+ a pint, Id consider £5.50 a bargain!Added bonus on hottest day ever - air con!
Been from Dublin the original. Its a home away from home. Staff are a credit. Very polite and friendly. A must visit in London. Food fantastic beer the best . Oyster stout all the way. If its your first time get the sample tray. Very local to all the sights. Music on all nights. Enjoy like I did
Great pub with live music and a little dance floor. Drinks are varied. Unfortunetely we were there on thursday...where the pub closes at 11pm.
Nice popular place to visit, been there a few time before. Stocks every single beer in the world so thats an added attraction.Great atmosphere, small bars but top, fast & pro service...Ambience a bit too dark, but great bar to visit & socialise in...
I like all the different areas to have your drink. Good range of beers. If you have mobility problems, it would be best to sit outside as the place is full of stairs. The food is very good with large portions. Good for sharing.
I’m not much of a drinker but came here with some colleagues. It’s a labyrinthine multilevel place, kind of like a traditional Victorian pub mated with a Victorian pumphhouse and The Crystal Maze. Good fun. Friendly staff and a decent range of beers (though I make no claim to expertise on beers). Didn’t try any food.
Great location near the heart of the action. Not on a main street so worth the extra little effort to search out. Spacious inside on several levels. Great selection of beers and ales. Looking forward to visiting again.
Looking at the reviews, it looks like I should have enjoyed this more than I did. Bit of a novelty with the mix of levels and areas, but I just found it too busy, too loud and not overly clean. The beer I tried wasnt great but I cant fault them on that as I did choose it.. !
Fantastic place. Lovely atmosphere and the place has a great design. Because of all the different floors you can be in a huge group and all be together, or just a couple and find a little nook.Their oyster stout is great.
Seating on three different levels, an open central atrium, many booths, warren-like layout, copper handrails, fittings and wrought iron staircases, beer bottles lining the walls in lighted glass cabinets, subdued lighting. Great atmosphere.Crisp and light Temple larger is very good.
Great pub. Lots of levels and places to tuck yourself away. Lots of seating but feels really private. Great decor and music just loud enough to be mice background without blocking conversation. Awesome place.
Excellent alehouse, a stones throw from the market halls of Covent Garden.Interesting interior - spread over three levels - with lots of copper piping on show.Great range of beers and ales, some of which are brewed here.
We came here for drinks on a Saturday afternoon right when they opened and sat on the patio. My boyfriend had two of their IPAs and said both were really good and I had a gin and tonic- fruity tasting and it was delicious!Atmosphere was nice- we didn’t have any food so can’t speak to it but they did look pretty good. We had returned later that night for live music and the patio was full and looked like everyone was having a great time.
Trendy venue with decent amount of outdoor tables undercover, real ales on draught and many well known and not so well known strong Belgian and German bottled beers which are all listed on the drinks menu. Attentive staff and made to feel welcome, had a good meal there too.
I loved this place. Very good energy, while outdoors is cool I would recommend visiting inside as the decoration is quite nice! I went there on a Saturday and they had a rock band playing on the basement. I would 100% go back!
What a great pub, one of my favourites in London. People make places more unique, and Veronica, the staff that greeted us had a really contagious positive energy, and was very helpful and finding us a table and giving recommendations on drinks, amazing service!!Speaking of drinks, the menu is really extensive, and if you enjoy beers like I do, youll find really good ones here, from small breweries to big names, along with some recognizable international ones. Hope to come back soon!
Stumbled across this place yesterday and glad we did! They have a large range of their own beers (which were lovely! The staff were incredibly friendly and gave us some helpful recommendations. Such a great pub, will definitely come back again soon.
They have their own craft beers which are so delicious and have a unique taste 👍 Servicing is very quick. I didnt wait even 2 min to make an order. Also staffs are extremely welcoming and friendly 😊 I will definitely come again after quarantine time. I would like to have an inside experience because decoration and atmosphere was looking amazing 🎉
I have been meaning to write this review for a while (pictures from before lockdown). Great food and some of the best craft beer in London. Their porter is so fresh and tastes amazing. Next time youre in Covent Garden and they are open again after lockdown you should definitely pay them a visit. Highly recommended.
Amazing bar. Very large inside along with a massive patio outside. They have a large selection of draught beer. Try the Oyster Stout. Its on par with a Guinness (possibly better). Food wasnt the best, but service was friendly and more attentive than expected (particularly for British standards).
Nice warm bar with many levels. Good beer selection (plenty of porters as the name suggests). Lots of seating. We went upstairs, it was a nice view but a little warm up there, maybe we should have gone downstairs! Overall a very enjoyable experience:
Great selection of drinks. Such a huge menu!Staff are charming, friendly and the place is a nice getaway from the hordes of people that stroll through London. Decor is stylish, comfy and dark in the best sort of way. Like a well done Game of thrones episode (not including season 8)The pizza is 10/10. Damn. Simply amazing in the best of ways!Do recommend.
The porter house is fantastic.Beautifully decorated with a keen attention to detail and a very strong theme throughout. However not only is it stunning to look at!With a truly astounding range of beer and whisky the drinks menu is not just for show!Plenty of seating, spread out over seven floors with many nooks for dates, tables for dineing and long tables for parties. When I have been the live music offering was lively and topical. Good sound and atmosphere.Of particular note. As its over 21 only the feeling is a lot more calm and enjoyable. Its highly unlikely there will be a fight at kicking out time and everyone shuffles out respectfully when asked to leave.
Nice pub, good range of drinks to try. Interesting interior, with lots of different spaces to sit depending on the setting your after. Can get busy but given its location its to be expected.
