The Porch Restaurant & Bar in Sacramento

Lovely location, looking for somewhere for a coffee and a bite to eat, but wven though there were people inside, doors were locked. We went round the back to gain entrance, all the staff were elsewhere, so we just left. As a former caterer myself, this is unacceptable.

The Porch House is a must-stay in the Cotswolds! Great location, very clean and cozy, and the staff here is incredibly kind and helpful. I really felt at home here and would gladly stay again.

Great dinner and drinks in a cozy setting. Beatriz is the kindest server with a phenomenal personality. Also, the best sticky toffee pudding on the island!

the place is nice. It’s a pity that the attention of the waiters, it can not be worse. They serve hot white wine, we have wait an hour wait for the entrance. With so many places nearby, its not worth it.

We arrived at the restaurant asking if there was room for two for dinner. Unfortunately, the receptionist not only ignored us but also spoke to us in a very bad way telling us to leave because they were not going to receive us. It would have been nice that in case of not having a place, he treated us with better manners. there are too many nice places in the area to insist. not worth it

Went for dinner with my partner last week, the decor was stunning! We were greeted as we walked through the door by Kostas (the GMwho was very friendly, tentative and polite. The drinks were on point and our food was to die for. Great experience, we will be back.

First visit to The Porch House for our 2 year anniversary meal. It was a wonderful experience start to finish. Delicious food we had Sunday roasts and very accommodating for vegetarians. Charlie in particular was fantastic helping with specifics of our order and then as a surprise for us arranged a happy anniversary pudding, so kind it made us feel very special and completed an anniversary meal perfectly! We will definitely be back to visit again soon. Thank you Charlie and the creative chefs at The Porch House.

The food and service were both exceptional. This complemented the historic significance of the building. We would have appreciated an additional vegetarian option for the main but on the whole an excellent choice.

Fabulous stay, the suite was clean and spacious. The staff were extremely attentive and couldn’t do enough for you. The breakfast was delicious! Would definitely return again.

It’s bizarre when you spend £300 on dinner and a room and feel like you’re an inconvenience.From the first moment we arrived they made us feel pretty unwelcome, rolling their eyes at any requests, no chance of a smile, making it feel like a chore that we had even come.We took it less personally when two other people enquired about dinner and were told “sit there and I’ll get to you in a minute”It felt like the staff were all having such a bad day they wanted customers to leave as soon as possible, just so they could do the same, counting the minutes to 10pm.This is something that continued into dinner where they tried to take our order within seconds of sitting down. The food I’m afraid to say was poor. We had the shared camembert to start, which was nice, but it was quickly downhill from there. The mains at a combined £55 were both pretty dire, sea bream and gnocchi, served with no care, in a bowl with, with no real real flavour and hotter than the sun (my wife was convinced it has been microwaved). The steak had chewy fat not rendered down and clearly old chips, that were powdery. We only ordered desert to prolong the dinner which had been rushed, but it was all style over substance with undercooked apple in the crumble. We both ended up leaving over half which the waiter seemed delighted about.As for the atmosphere, with the exception of the locals rampaging through the restaurant, fully charged with premium lager, speaking to each other like a hearing impaired stag party and getting verbally abusive with a poor American tourist who was asking about the heritage of the inn… it was fine. They probably got better treatment than most of the guests.And that really is the crux of the matter. For a community that fully survives on tourism, there was an attitude of ‘ you should be grateful to be here’, rather than ‘we are grateful that you are visiting’.I have to make a notable exception for one member of staff who organised breakfast the following morning (Lisa). She was warm, welcoming and really helpful. It really doesn’t take much, just some minor enthusiasm and a smile and it makes all the difference.The pub/inn is beautiful, as is the town, but maybe if you are going to run an place like this, just realise how lucky you are to live in a place of natural beauty. You didn’t make this a beautiful place, you just chose to live here, and the only way communities like this can continue to thrive is with tourism. So please appreciate that support, there is no lack of options and the staff and service will certainly keep us from coming back to The Porch House.

Beautiful old pub.Great food and Baya was fantastic. She was very friendly and professional

Total rubbish, the staff were abysmally rude, not welcoming in the least it was as if the didnt want to encourage tourists we were completely ignored when we went to the bar, while 2 groups of obvious locals were served immediately, it took them 20 minutes to make 2 cups of coffee which was left on the counter/bar area but no-one drew our attention to them being ready. Avoid at all costs.

We had a delightful meal at The Porch House. We shared the camembert starter, which was delicious, and had the chicken skewers and Waldorf salad for entrees - both very good. Best of all was the service, which was pleasant and highly attentive.

Booked The Porch House for lunch last Sunday for my partners birthday. The visit was lovely, staff were all very friendly and attentive, taking care to do extra little things which made the visit better. We even had a lovely bottle of fizz waiting for us which had been pre-arranged by my sister for my partner. Food was brilliant and the wine was even better! A lovely lunch visit, beautiful building and decor.

A poor experience from start to finish, mostly due to every single member of staff seemingly having a bad day at the start of a shift. We were out of order trying to book ahead for a garden table, no provision made for our dog, through poor communication both starter and main turned up the same time and we were blamed for it. This is a great place. They were able to accommodate our party of 11 for lunch very quickly. Cool old inn and restaurant. The food was good and service was great. The bacon mayo dip that came with the sweet potato fries was super yummy. Would definitely go back.

What a spectacular experience - the claimed to be oldest in in England. It is not only a historical landmark but the cider and food is great too!

Only had drinks here which we enjoyed. Was disappointed to watch a customer order a tap beer, and because it wasnt working changed his order, but still wasnt served as he only had cash and the Porch is not accepting cash.

Very nice place however, unfortunately the prices are rather high (although in line with the rest of the town). As a guide it cost £11.85 for a pint of real ale and a single gin & tonic...

Favourite place to visit full stop, me and my girlfriend have been about 4-5 times and it’s been perfect each time, anniversary’s, birthdays, and valentines all been great, lovely staff and amazing rooms, decorated really cosy always feel very relaxed.

The oldest inn in England. The Trip to Jerusalem also makes this claim but the Porch House is over 200 years older and makes the claim based on carbon dating of the beam above the bar. Nice place to stop for a drink and food.

lovely feeling inside, pleasant, sunny courtyard at the back. Parking was tough. Food good but portions a little small. A basket of good bread with the starters would make a big difference.Would have stayed overnight but there is a 2 night minimum stay.

Food was very good, atmosphere was nice & relaxed, but the real stand out aspect was Rachael who was our server. She was so polite, attentive & just an absolute delight. She’s a real asset to the team & deserves the highest of praise!

We stayed in the hotel as part of our minimoon. We paid on arrival and shown up to our room. We did feel the decor of our room felt a little tired - crumbly paint in the bathroom and paper hanging from the ceiling.Unfortunately there was an issue with our sink in our bedroom - leaking from beneath and showers your feet with dirty water on each use. When I reported this to the bar after our first evening - the response from the lady serving was simply ‘it’s not life threatening’. It seems room 7 is infamous for this issue and it’s been like it for quite a while. On our next evening my husband had to go and request new towels as they had all been cleared as they were daily (is this always necessary?and not replenished. No apology was made and we were given two bath mats for hand towels.We really felt disappointed on the service we had received for our superior room booking.

Nice bar / Restaurant / hotel in Stow-on-the-wold, great server who was on loan from Cheltenham, food was good, wasnt too busy arrived about 3, they stop serving food sometime around 3:30 / 4 , it looked like it had been busy. But worth a visit.

I really enjoyed the restaurant. The overall experience was pleasant and the servers were all very accommodating to requests. Food itself was not too heavy or salty for my taste so that was great! I would come back again.

Rachael took the time to ensure our stay was memorable ensuring my husbands birthday treat was in the room. Giving us a brief history lesson of this amazing Inn.Our dinner reservations a must otherwise you will not get a table was fantastic. Max was awesome ensuring our choices met our expectations and I must say they exceeded them! Delicious!

One of my stops during my trip to the costworls was at The Porch House. This Inn is been on business for over a thousand years and it is totally worth the visit if you go to Stow-on-the-wold.The place was quiet at arrival. Then, I was led to a little table in the back which was the only table illuminated by the sun coming through a window. I loved this as it gave a magical looking to the place and It made me stop to take a picture.The salad with quinoa and halloumi, even though is noted on the menu as a light main, was the perfect starter for me (if you are after a big starter).The steak was tender and the side chips were spectacular.If I come back to this place, definitely I should try to stay at one of their rooms and stay for some time as I was amazed by the pictures on their Website.

This review is a little late but this was one of the best pubs with rooms we visited in Cotswolds for our Valentine Dinner. The interior decor of this pub is absolutely charming and stunning! Very cosy and dim lit romantic. From memory, the menu was fantastic value - included a bottle of champagne/ prosecco, massive sharing steak, truffle parmesan chips and brioche with balsamic vinegar as a starter. Portions were very generous and unfortunately couldnt finish it all!The service was really good and Im so happy we booked. 5/5 experience, would love to stay overnight and visit again!

A little disappointed, room great size although dressing table not been cleaned prior to our arrival, sticky marks. No coffee pods needed to Pop to reception and ask. Meal ok asked for no fat on my lamb (if possibleunfortunately mainly fat. Breakfast not ideal, not appropriate to share, situation was rectified.

Overall a pleasant experience.The food was excellent quality but the portion sizes rather small so still hungry after I had the mushroom chicken with couscous.My partner had the cod and muscles also felt that the portion was on the small side.It was reasonably priced for the quality but not so much for the quantity. Certainly order sides!Staff were attentive and helpful.

Its a nice pub with lovely interiors however the meal wasnt that great. The stuffed chicken cannot be called a stuffed chicken because it did not have anything in it. It was rather plain as well. The service was good as was the whole vibe of the place. But the food was not as great as I had expected. Quite disappointing.

Had a birthday meal here to kick-off mini-break. My partner enjoyed her vegetarian options and I had a very tender 12oz steak.Visit was made though by the very friendly and informative waitress who took us through the history of the building.Be aware though, when its quiet last orders can be earlier than the usual.

A fantastic dining and drinks experience with professional service, the rooms are perfect with fabulous attention to detail and luxury throughout. A well maintained small old building with great traditional character. Everyone in the restaurant has had a joyous evening, I recommend to anyone that enjoys the little gems of the UK.

I visited for the Sunday lunch and had the lamb. The seating was really nice and cosy. The service was fast and the waitress was friendly.Unfortunately, the food wasn’t great. I was expecting thin slices of tender lamb. Instead I got a thick slab of chewy, bland lamb. The potatoes were hard and stale on the outside and dry on the inside. Frozen potatoes from a supermarket would have been nicer. The only way to make this meal edible would have been to drown it in gravy, but unfortunately, I only received a tiny drizzle of gravy which was quickly soaked up by the dry potatoes.The other vegetables it came with seemed ok.

We’ve just finished a small group family meal at the Porch House and we couldn’t be more impressed with the entire experience. Ash was our principal server. He is a professional in every respect. He made us feel welcome from the start until the end. The food and drink were exceptional and the service sublime. We all had a great time and look forward to our next visit.

My husband and I stayed here for a new years day getaway after a Christmas that fell a bit flat due to covid! We were in the superior room which was far bigger than we anticipated and felt like really good value for money. The room was finished to a lovely standard whilst still retaining the charm and character of the building. The staff were friendly and attentive and we had excellent food in the restaurant in the evening. We have stayed at a couple of other inns/ hotels in Stow on the Wold but this was our favourite yet. We will definitely be staying here again! Thanks Porch House!
