The Pitch Sports Bar & Grill - Sports bar in Aldridge, United Kingdom
There food is so good my favorite thing is the pretzel bites and beer cheese.
The Pitch is a great restaurant located in Institute, WV. Conveniently right by Shawnee Park, the restaurant has a lot of convenient parking available. They have a sports bar-type vibe with a reasonably priced menu full of delicious options. The pizzas and burgers are awesome. The appetizers like the pretzel bites, the pepperoni balls, the waffle fries, and the Pitch chips are delicious. You really cant make a bad decision here. Everyone should try The Pitch at least once!
The hostess helped me get the order for delivery. She could of been a bit more friendly but she was attentive.
If you like sports . You can watch it here. Most tables are high tops. You can make reservations for room upstairs. This can be a loud place because of cheering. Nice place to visit. Have a beer n burger.
I always enjoy eating at The Pitch. The food is always so good. The staff is always friendly and helpful. I have tried about everything on the menu and its all good. However, I always go back to my favorite which is The Ellies Pie (a pizzawith a cauliflower crust. I usually add banna peppers and onions to mine. Its delicious! I highly recommend The Pitch if you are in the area and looking for a good meal
We visited here on a Saturday evening after our school played in a soccer tournament right next door. They seated us in our own private section upstairs, which was perfect. The food was great. Our server, Hayley, was awesome. She kept her smile and kindness even amidst the chaos of Middle schoolers running around. I will definitely visit here again.
Fantastic spot, great food at good prices!!
Excellent food and selection. The wait staff was very goid and helpful.
Upon arriving the place looked ok from the outside, then we entered inviting atmosphere. Then it went down hill from there. We were escorted outside by the hostess (pleasant lady). Our table was unclean, I wiped it off myself. The server was nice, but I couldnt be bothered to install an app on my phone for their beer selection. There was very few items to choose from on the limited menu. There wasnt a happy hour. When our food arrived it looked yummy, then I tasted it. The salt was nasty, when I mentioned the overwhelming salty taste to my server, her response was "I know". No offer to rectify the issue. While waiting for our food I noticed that the other tables were filthy with food and dishes. Finally the dishes were removed but the tables were not cleaned while we were there. The view of the sport complex was nice until I saw the green pools... Yucky! The grounds were unkempt, grass growing in the cracks of the cement, the hedges and tall weed like plants were over grown. I see a lot of missed opportunities there, and little or no attention to detail. It was a disgusting experience and I wont be back.
Really wish they could get their online ordering issue worked out or let alone hire a employee that knows how to answer a land line….possibly the best pizza in town but this evening makes the third time in a span of probably 6 months (both locationsthat I’ve not been able to enjoy it….
I went during what they said is normal business hours but yet they were closed. Online says they were open till 9:30pm. I am very disappointed with this establishment. This makes the 2nd time I have came to this restaurant and they be closed during open business hours.
Based on a recommendation from a coworker I went to the Dunbar WV "The Pitch". First impressions were good because Id never seen the sports complex at Dunbar and it seemed like a good setup with a nice looking property elevated above the swimming pool and sport fields. I sat outside on the rear deck overlooking the rest of the complex where it seemed a bit lacking in atmosphere for a Friday evening around 6pm (only two other tables had patrons). My server handed me a tiny, one-page, laminated menu and she asked me what Id like to drink. I couldnt see any beer or drinks on the menu and I asked to see the drinks menu but there wasnt one. Instead, she told me to scan in a QR code on my phone. It was hopeless because the link was to the Untapped App which requires installation and registration to view the selections. I asked for a draft Yuengling because I know pretty much everywhere in the area sells it. Nope, not at The Pitch. The only selections were $6-$8 craft beers and I ended up with a random $7/16oz IPA. Nothing looked all that inspiring on the menu and I picked the chips with queso and pulled pork appetizer and a hot dog for entree. The appetizer had standard triangle shaped corn chips which were mostly too large to dip in the two tiny disposable plastic cups of queso. This appetizer amounted to less food than you get as the complimentary chips and salsa at all the local Mexican restaurants. At The Pitch, this sub par starter was $5. The entrees came with their in-house thick potato chips and the only potato alternative was waffle fries so I stuck with the potato chips. The thick chips could be a nice idea but these came smothered in a dusty, salty rub. I have never tasted food so salty. The hot dog could also have been decent but they must have chosen the saltiest sausage possible to pair with that salty chip rub. What I dont understand is why they ruin what could be OK food. My server asked if my food was alright and when I told her it was too salty, she agreed with me! Once the experience started going downhill, I started to spot more and more negatives - staff not cleaning the tables out on the deck, the ugly algae-green water in the swimming pool that they shut prematurely for the season. This was the Friday before Labor Day so the pool area could have been buzzing with activity in the temperature in the low 90s. The gaps in the paving slabs around the pool were weedy and the landscaping around the building was very neglected. Oh, and whoever heard of a sports bar that didnt have a Happy Hour? This was for me, two trips in one - my first and last visit to The Pitch. Very poor all round but so much potential.
Weve gotten several meals from The Pitch and everything weve tried has been very good and a good value. The Cornfused corn fritters are a favorite, and all of their sandwiches have been great as well. With how good their sandwiches are, make sure you dont miss out on the pizza. The crust and toppings used here are all very flavorful and well cooked. Im glad they seem to be doing well as they are opening a second location in Kanawha City. Great place.
Absolutely wonderful place the bar has a stripOf Ice so when you put your beer down it stays cold and the waitstaff are niceAnd funny and enjoy engaging with the customers also the beer is excellent very good selection of craft beers and a large selection ofDraft beers of other varieties and the food is of the chain great ! I have had several different things on the menu and have NEVER been disappointed. I will go many many many many more times.
Our waiter, a young man named Zion, did an excellent job serving our group of 40 people mostly by himself. Thank you Zion!
Go pretzels, Angelos sausage, pizza, and apps. Avoid the hamburger. Extruded patty - super dry real let down. Great place to hang out. Great place to find a wide selection of beers. Can get loud but conversations are still doable. They have a few high tops for reservations so call ahead if you expect more than 4.
Great food, good atmosphere, plenty of local sports outside around the building and more options on TV inside.
Good food and environment. Server was a very courteous your man.
Had Mahi Mahi tacos for lunch. They were great but the star of my meal was the sweet potato tots. Perfectly crispy on the outside and so deliciously creamy on the inside. I had to explain my creamy comment to my other party who sadly only got the waffle fries. I did sneak a waffle fry and it was tasted giod but, not as good. This was a fantastic meal at a great price. I am ashamed to say this was my first time here but, it definitely wont be my last.
First time here. Love the atmosphere. The appetizers and desserts were great- top of the line and extra points for being different as well as tasty! The main courses were not as good and our entire party didn’t love it- and we all got something different. I tried the hot dog. DO NOT expect this to taste anything like a WV hot dog. I scraped the toppings off as it ruined the hot dog. (Sorry). The pitch chips would be good if they didn’t have some odd spice sprinkled on them. My friends did the same with their food- scraped off odd toppings. For me, I will be happy to return for the fun place but will know to steer clear of the main menu.
Kinda pricey, not bad food either but the best part is the quality of service. It is phenomenal 💯 8/10 would recommend, price wise its in the middle, cheaper than a steak house, more expensive than steak escape
The food was top-notch, our waitress was friendly, and to get a private room was easy for them to accomodate
Started off with the nachos, and finished with the nachos!! They were sooo big and sooo good we ended up getting our dinners to go! The beer selection was great! A lot of choices. My wife who goes for margaritas the majority of the time was a little disappointed they didnt offer frozen ones, and the ones she did have she said they were good but not great! Also great atmosphere! We ate out on the porch, and there is a sports complex right outside! I watched 2 soccer games just while we were sitting there
Quick service, appetizers came to us in no time , then main course was on point. Would highly recommend,
Great Mushroom Swiss burger! Those are kind of WV specialties, so it was good to see it done right! Coming back for the nice bar atmosphere and great Pork Wings (fried pork shanks)!
Casual, fun place to relax and enjoy some delicious (differentfood. You can watch tv, sit by the fire, chat at the bar (cool drink coolerand enjoy friendly service. We all have favorites but the pizza is mine. It’s delicious. I will say ask if you have picky eaters (like methey will take care of you.Lastly, save room for dessert. It’s amazing!
Great experience. We walked in with 7 kids between 2 adults for a late lunch and the staff didnt even blink. Service was excellent, food was fantastic, definitely recommend.
Went to The Pitch WV yesterday with some friends to eat, drink, and watch football. The food was amazing. I got the boneless honey BBQ chicken wings (pictured), and a large pepperoni Detroit style (deep dish/sauce on toppizza, which got devoured before I could take a pic. Like I said, the food was 10 outta 10. I can’t say enough good things about the food. It was perfect. However, we were completely and utterly shocked to find out that they don’t have the NFL Sunday Ticket! How do you have such a nice sports bar, spare no expense with the interior, and NOT have the Sunday Ticket?!?! They’ve got about 20 TV’s. 1/3 of them were just monitors with their menu on it, and the remaining TV’s were on ESPN and CBS. 20 TV’s, TWO channels, ONE football game… on a Sunday during NFL season. To put it in perspective, they had as many football games on as Applebee’s. Wowwww, majorly disappointing. We have been looking for a new place to watch NFL games on Sundays, and really thought The Pitch could be that place. We decided to quickly order the wings and pizza since we were already there and had been wanting to try it. We ate as fast as we could & regretfully decided to go to the Cold Spot for the remainder of the evening to watch the 4 o’clock games. I will definitely go back The Pitch sometime for lunch or something, but can guarantee you it will never be to watch sports… which is a shame for a SPORTS BAR. 🤯In closing, if you want to watch a sporting event that’s not on a major network like NBC, Fox, or CBS, go somewhere else. If you’re just looking for a nice bar & grill to eat, drink, and be merry, this is the spot to go. If they had the Sunday Ticket, I would have given them 5 stars. But you can’t be a top of the line sports bar & grill, and then skimp out on the sports part lol. 4.5 out of 5 Stars.
4 oz burger and fries 15.50. It wasn’t bad but “ where’s the beef.?” Average food with good beer and atmosphere! The craft beer was very good and it was cold.
Excellent! Handmade chips and pickles were perfect, the burger was delicious. Service was fantastic. Get the Stumptown beers, theyre fantastic! Highly recommend.
This place is easy to get to and lots of parking. The food is pretty good. Id go there again. We had our class reunion on the top floor. The wait staff was really sweet.
1st time to restaurant last night - loved it!! Seasoned fries, black & bleu burger, and appetizer all perfect. Fast service and easy to pay at table with scan & pay. Will be back again.
Under staffed. Food was okay. Most of the food is cooked in grease. Bar food. Sports bar atmosphere. Great place to watch Sports on tv. Friendly wait staff.
Pleasant sports bar in the middle of a sports complex. The staff were very attentive and the food was good. They have a big selection of craft beers on tap plus the usual bottled ones. Great atmosphere and good view of the park with all the big windows. Plenty of TVs to watch the games. The pizza I had was great and good portions on the food we ordered.
1st. We were 12 . Then we got a great serverette. All food came out within a minute in two groups. We had burgers. One of which was a little burnt on edges. Pizza was tomato mozzarella on cauliflower crust , which was too done on sides to eat. tacos were great. , Sterling salad. And waffle topped w icecream and Carmel. All would go back again. You can make a reservation. Dont be late. A lot of people are waiting in line. Went at 6.30 pm. Sat. Soo good. Thanks Kayley G for great service.
Stopped in on a roadtrip to Nashville. While we were paying, the waitress asked us how our food was.I let her know the burger was delicious. Then , I let her know the fries were not good and they tasted old.She responded saying, Oh really, they were "just" made this morning."Im not in the restaurant business but I feel like morning til 8pm is a long time to hold on to fries to serve people. She didnt even offer to take the up-charge off for the fries and it was obvious I didnt touch them. It would have judt been nice for a resolution to have been offered.
The wait staff is great. Prices are a little high for a burger, fries and salad; but they were very good. Next time we will try the pizza, it seems to be a favorite item.
Ive been to The Pitch several times now & it has been great experiences. Sonja, the bartender, takes great care of me & makes sure I have everything I need. The food is spectacular & cant be beat. I highly recommend The Pitch for a great time.
The homemade chips were absolutely fantastic. This was the first time Ive had homemade chips that Ive actually enjoyed. My buffalo chicken sandwhich was nothing impressive....it was good, but it was what I expected. My friend got the sloppy sausage sandwhich and it was way too messy to even eat as a sandwhich. With all that being said our waitress Star was amazing and polite.
Patio is very nice. The pizza is good kinda pricey. Order was not properly executed. Staffer hostess jumped to order on phone before finishing my order. Probably why she messed it up. Or maybe the kitchen messed up who knows. My order was to go I just sat on patio waiting for it. I would recommend.
Great food, I had the BBQ samich, Allison my server was very good. Getting the Pitch Hitter burger next visit.
Good food and friendly service. No wine or beer list and so it was difficult to pick a beverage. Will go back.
We visit the Pitch about once every 2 weeks and its always a great meal. We had one bad experience but they immediately resolved the issue and replaced all the food in question. The Pitch is probably one of the most consistent and delicious food options around. They also have a great selection of beer to choose from.
Arrived at 8:50 (after games at the neighboring complex), and was told they weren’t seating anymore because they closed in half an hour (9:30, which would technically be 40 minutes, but whatever). This was not reflected anywhere on their website and/or Google. If seating stops at 9, maybe change your “open hours” to properly reflect that; most restaurants list the final seating hours as the “end” of their advertised operating period.**Will edit my review once I’m able to get seated and try the food**
Our first visit. We had an excellent lunch. Sat on the patio and enjoyed a beautiful afternoon as well. Maggie was our server and she was fantastic. Prices are very reasonable. Huge selection of beer :Highly recommend!
This place is completely underrated. Their menu isnt expensive and the food is really good. They have a huge selection on drafts/beers/cocktails. The place is absolutely beautiful inside and they have a spacious outdoor area which is lovely! I will be enjoying my summer there:)
This is a great new concept. They remodeled an old clubhouse space at what was the old Shawnee Golf Course. The entire facility received a redo a couple years ago. Its now a major soccer & baseball facility; the name of the restaurant is very fitting. Were it not for Covid Im sure theyd be busy and packed every day. It all just works, from the atmosphere, the unique menu, their support of local breweries and even their Growlers. Theyll put your selection of beer in custom-made cans to go!The facility has a lot of parking. And the mobility-impaired access is easy to get to.Theres a wide array of seating options. Lots of social distancing "elbow-space."It is very clean throughout. Ultimately its a great place for the whole family. They thought of everything when setting it up. The downstairs main bar even has a frozen channel element you can set your drink on to keep it cool. With 80s style video games at the upstairs bar.Well be back many times. Thats for sure.
Great food, great service, great atmosphere, great beer. I try to go once every week or two. I like the mushroom and Swiss burger or the pizza, both with locally-sourced mushrooms. They also have great appetizers.
I love the Pitch!! Its my favorite place to go for craft beer, and their food is also really good! Lots of appetizers to choose from. Their staff has also been incredible. I love their outdoor patio, perfect place to sit on a summer night!
Wow what a great place to have in the Charleston area! The food was amazing, the atmosphere is wonderful, and the games/beer selection is top notch. We had the nachos with beef and wow, the citra zest makes for a really memorable experience, I love nachos, and these are not your average nachos. Next came the pizza. We got the bomber. And wow, first the crust, awesome, seasoned with the cheese all the way to the edge. Chef Paul calls this the burnt lasagna cheese effwxt, its amazing, impressed even my 11 year old! Toppings were classic but unique to the area. The meats were yaay, the sauce on top was zesty, but the drops of fresh mozzarella really set it off. Bitter and tangy bites scattered on the pie!Beer was great, had to try The Pitch krolsh, and even got one to go! Overall I am just happy to have this place in town and bravo Chef Paul!!
