Thatched 17th-century country inn with a large garden serving classic British pub fare.
Absolutely stupendous taste of everything they cooked for us. Lovely gardens settings and old pub vibes. After dinner we walked down to river Thames from the garden path.
Holding our wedding reception at the Perch made our wedding day - the venue was just perfect!! Every single aspect was amazing, and every guest commented that the food was absolutely delicious.Emily is unbelievably helpful throughout the process, and unflappable on the day (thanks so much Emily!!- she made the whole thing go so smoothly, took the stress away from us, and was so accommodating of our little requests and questions!Emily & the team - thanks so much for hosting us, we had a fab party!
A great location on a sunny afternoon or peaceful evening. A good pub selection of drinks and good food, but on the expensive side. Service was very good and staff are friendly. Parking can be a bit tricky, especially if you have larger car.
A lovely country pub that dose fantastic food. We had a brilliant traditional Sunday lunch. It also has a good wine selection and traditional ales. Dog friendly and good out door space. Only takes cards no cash.
We had our wedding reception at The Perch in June 2022 and I cannot recommend it enough. It was an incredible venue and the food was fantastic - guests are still raving to us about the menu!We had the reception in the marquee and it was beautiful. The space was large enough to accommodate everyone but also felt intimate and cosy. But most of all, I cannot rate Emily and her team highly enough. They made the whole process an absolute dream - so helpful and efficient, and always on hand for questions. Emily clearly has a huge amount of expertise and we felt in such safe hands - it honestly felt as if we had hired a wedding planner - she was fantastic. The team put everything together so perfectly. I was absolutely blown away when I went into the marquee for the first time when everything had been set up. It was everything I had hoped for and more. I am so grateful that we chose The Perch and so if you are thinking about it then absolutely go for it - we had the best day.
The Perch is absolutely lovely. The venue is quite pretty and well decorated. The food is very tasty and the staff are very friendly and helpful. I had the battered fish and chips and I was very pleased, I can recommend!I will be back and will bring my family!
This cute thatched roof restaurant is so wonderful! From the moment you walk in you are greeted by kind workers and are shown the specials of the day, offered a drink menu if you have to wait any more than 5 minutes for a table. The waitstaff is very attentive and careful of you dietary restrictions and needs as well as allergens. There is a nice full vegan/vegetarian menu available as well. The ambiance is friendly, cozy and the grounds of the restaurant are beautiful. The food selection is small but everything that is available is top notch! Traditional choices as well as more gourmet dishes grace the menu with wonderful drinks to match! If you have the chance I would highly recommend you go there. The cherry on top is that it’s dog friendly even in the dining room. ❤️
Great Gastro pub. A short walk down a little path to the river from the garden at the rear which is enormous. Food was great, staff were friendly, the tall guy running the pub that day sorted us a table inside so we could have pudding...total gent
Really lovely food, friendly staff and great service. We hadnt booked but they were very accommodating and found us a table. The menu wasnt huge but the quality of the food really was exceptional. Large beer garden and car park.
Amazing atmosphere and accommodating staff! The (and I mean THEbest dessert (ginger puddingI’ve ever had.
Great pub near the river, beautiful food! I photographed a wedding today and Emily and her team made sure everything ran smoothly. Loved my burger
Great location. Good food. Decent service. Walk to river from there. No food in garden was a disappointment
My family of 7 went here on 13th Aug and we had a fantastic time. Our waiter was the best waiter we’ve had, he was really friendly, patient, and attentive (We sadly can’t remember his name). The food was delicious, and the setting was great. Beautiful gardens. Highly recommend!
This place is already very popular. Hosting a wedding and lots of people outside and in for lunch. We were a group of seven and we were well looked after from the start through to the end. The food was very good and catered for different requirements, and although they were very busy, we didnt have to wait too long to get our order. Its situated well off the beaten track along side the River Thames. There is parking on site with farther parking back up the lane in a farmers field. The prices may put a lot of people off, but it is worth it.
An absolutely wonderful experience dining here. Our waitress went above and beyond to look after us. The food was incredible, with such a lovely backdrop to sit in in the garden and located in a quaint countryside village just a 10 min drive from Oxford city centre. Plenty of choice for people of all diets, definitely something for everyone, and not too steep in price. Cant say enough good things about the place!
Had a lovely lunch here. Really friendly and genuine service. Decent vegan options for food (a winegorgeous garden and a fab doggo watching spot.
Great pub. Sadly we were working not drinking. We hired a pool table for a wedding event. Very helpful staff. Thanks Chris Jukebox45s
Me and my family came here for my Mums 70th birthday. Really great service and amazing pub/restaurant. Thanks guys. Food was lovely, venue is superb. Would highly recommend to anyone in the area.
Excellent atmosphere, super staff, very attentive, Friendly and professional.Menu was compact but plenty of range and all dishes chosen were excellent. My vegan burger was particularly tasty as was the gingerbread pudding.Would definitely book again next time we are in Oxford.
Absolutely stunning little area at the end of the river! We were there for a wedding so we didnt have food at the restaurant but some of the food we had was from the restaurant, and it was very good as well! Just a beautiful spot that should not be missed when youre in the area
The quintessential British pub thats taken a step towards being clean, cozy, tastefully decorated and boasts a lush garden with twinkling lights. Its steps away from the canal and is as romantic as they come.
Great service, tasty food (they have a lovely vegan menu, too), and a beautiful location, both inside and out. And a cat. What more could you want? High quality in every regard, rare to find anything comparable in the region.
A beautiful garden with plenty of shade but staggering prices. A pint of bitter shandy, a tiny ginger ale and two packets of crisps came to £11.35. (A week later in Devon I paid just £8.40 for two pints of bitter). Nice walk through to a beautiful stretch of the Thames.
Pretty good food. Big place. Nice staff. Does feel a bit factory-like though. But, good. Small, nice menu. Authentic stuff. Not a lot of beers.
An idyllic country pub only 10 minutes walk from the city centre. However the ideal is to pair the visit with a from wolvecote walking down port meadow and entering via a magical pathway from the river. We really enjoyed our food but only wished my main came with some carbs. If you are visiting internationally make this a stop for dinner while you visit.
Literally the cutest UK pub. Recommend sitting indoor in the atrium space or outdoor anywhere. Great for a daytime beer at a picnic table in the large green space amidst beautiful willows, or for a wonderful dinner in the dining terrace area. Highly recommend.
Absolutely amazing. Glorious venue. All staff were great but our waitress Anna was totally amazing. Super friendly and on it. Food was delicious and great wine selection. Highly recommend
What a lovely little gem of a find!! The wait staff were so accommodating and squeezed us in between bookings. Lovely service, gorgeous food, all round pleasant, in a beautiful setting. Would love to go back on my visit to the UK!
Lovely walk along the River Thames across Port Meadow. Called in to The Perch have a refreshing drink in the lovely gardens. Lots of people eating inside and out. Friendly staff - helpful too. Highly recommended.
Perfect for place to relax and enjoy a wonderful meal, a restaurant where you are looked after and everyone is working together to give you a great an experience. If you have time walk nearby and enjoy the beautiful scenery.
Great pub! Beautiful location with a great garden for summer. And, of course, amazing food too! If you go on a Sunday, make sure you have their pork roast, its delicious! Their ginger pudding is also one of the best desserts Ive had!
We emailed ahead to enquire about how they could accommodate some dietary requirements and intolerances in our group and they wrote back the most thoughtful response, having checked with the chef what dishes could be modified to meet our requirements. Such amazing level of service before wed even arrived! On the day we had a great experience too, beautiful setting in the garden, amazing quality of food and service. Will be returning!
Amazing pub in Port Meadow.Great food served in a nice environment.Slightly more expensive than regular pubs.
Great pub with beautiful gardens. The staff were excellent and they hand annotated our menus for gluten free and dairy free dietary requirements. Very tasty food and made for a lovely day out after a walk along the river.
Found this little gem by chance. Fully booked when we arrived but was found a table outside with heaters.Food was very good. Staff very friendly. Very impressive gardens. If we visit Oxford again would definitely go again but book in advance
Recommended. Everything that The Trout isnt anymore. If the weather is good the garden is great - very big. Better in the week when quieter. Near to The Medley as well so worth visiting both. Nice walk from Port Meadow. Dog friendly. Parking is scarce esp at weekends.
Great experience - ordered burgers from ‘the shed’ in the garden (we hadn’t booked a table so eating from the kitchen inside the pub wasn’t an option as they were so busy on a sunny day).Excellent burger and fries, really quick turnaround given they were mobbed there today. And a really friendly team member handing them out, and his Brazilian colleague was friendly too.And friendly staff behind the bar - sorry for the miscommunication re my charging my ‘phone and thanks to the barman who offered to watch it.Beautiful location. What’s not to like?
Lovely pub with great garden space, lovely menu. Be aware that this pub is not in walking distance from the main road unless you fancy a bit of a walk.
This pub location is perfect. On a sunny day I couldnt think of a nicer place to have lunch. It is very popular though, so will probably be very busy.
Absolute delight. Awesome drinks, food and ambience. Kasia served us ... Very friendly and helpful
Great service, lovely food, beautiful place, proper village pub! and the beer garden, sublime
What a surprise! My boyfriend booked the Sunday roast at The Perch during our small trip to Oxford from London, and, coming from a countryside lover, I straight felt home as soon as we got there. The restaurant is super cozy, warm, and welcoming, the whole staff was delivering great customer service and I loved to see so many families and dogs enjoining the afternoon. But the roast pork belly, wow.... Probably one of the best I ever had in my life! This place is definitely a must to go!
Lovely food, very nice atmosphere.Good and curtains service. it was very busy on a Thursday lunchtime. We walked in without booking ahead, still got a table within 5 minutes.
Lovely meal out at the perch. Nice heaters on the patio for the covid concerned. Delicious food, decent beer. Great pudding. Drinks could have come out faster, but other than that a really great experience, will definitely go back.
I really enjoyed the atmosphere, property, and overall food selections. As shown photos great starters, dinner, and dessert selections. It is a little pain to get there then get a taxi to go back to your hotel. It is single road in and out. Definitely worth a go!
Practically faultless pub lunch in an idyllic setting. Beautiful pub garden with plenty of tables. Food is top notch gastropub fare - grilled skate wing was cooked to perfection. The gingerbread pudding is divine. Clean toilets with lovely Neom toiletries. Friendly service: staff are very respectful of COVID precautions, wear masks, and encourage mask-wearing.
We had a wonderful lunch mid canal and Thames Path walk. Were vegetarian and the vegan menu provided us with a lot of options. We both had the Vegan Cheeseburger and loved it. We also had the Chocolate Ganache vegan dessert and it was excellent. The grounds are scenic and we enjoyed the ambiance, service staff were lovely, thank you, Lara!We didnt book in advance but got an indoor table with a view. For outdoor seating in peak summer (even for Wednesday lunchworth booking ahead.Facilities were lovely. Well be back on our next Oxford trip!
The service and food were amazing. Outside seating comfortable and surrounded by three beautiful willows. The beer battered cod was the best fish Ive ever had. The battery perfectly cooked ... not to hard and not to soft. The pic of the gingerbread pudding says it all. My wife worked here as a student in 1981! Needless to say ... the decor and food is definitely 2021 standard.
Lovely pub alongside port meadow and such a nice outdoor space!! There were some tables that are for more formal menu and some that you order from an app and I really enjoyed being able to have more relaxed environment by ordering from table. Toilet inside was very clean and there were good quality of hand sanitising stations and chances to sign-up to the nhs app. Staff member were wearing masks which was great! The chicken burger was lovely!! I wish that maybe the fries are added to the burger meal since it does add up to become a bit more pricy burger. Capuchino was nice but having some details on coffee beans could make it even better :)! The soft drinks and water were served in plastic cups which could have been replaced with glass to eliminate plastic waste. Other than this great place and would love to come back again :)!
The place is gorgeous! Lots of seating indoors and outdoors. You could eat at the restaurant and have a pint in the garden. We had a table booked, but lots of people just showed up and still got a table. There is a beer garden. The food is good, the starters were better than the mains. They have a kids menu.
