Pub offering board games and a bar billiards table, with a menu of Italian dishes and pizzas.
Good selection of beer and pizzas are v nice. Bar billiards table is great fun too and its free!
Real good pizza. Try the one with the honey on it and also try the excellent crack sauce, tastes too good.
Staff is wonderful and the pub is big with lots of tables. We had pizza. Unfortunately for me the pizza was far too salty for my taste. They do put sesame seeds around the outside of the crust and it adds a wonderful nutty flavor. They have a good variety of different pizzas so give it a try.
Great beer and amazing pizza!
Really dog friendly and delicious pizza
MUST READ!!!!No star if possible but one will have to do. Went in on the off chance and ordered a Double Pep, straight away was met with a dirty look and got suggested to try out the vegan pizza. Last thing I need after a long hard day at work, is someone telling me what to do or eat despite ordering what I wanted in the first place.I let the uncalled for comment slide since I was hungry. Whilst waiting for my pizza to be cooked, I ordered one of their expensive craft beer that tasted of gnats p*ss and I should of taken the hint and ran for it. Dont even get me started on the pizza. It might as well been the vegan pizza since there was barely any pepperoni on the Double Pep that was served to me warm and what suspiciously looked like a side order of a hair strand.I asked for a refund and given but not without attitude from bar staff. Do yourself a favour and got across the road to the kebab shop just like did straight after and have a good time.
Great pizza, amazing crust dippers. Nice friendly (patientstaff. Nice selection of beers
Great polite service . But no coffee machine😟
Good pizza, friendly staff and beer is good if you like five points
Best pub in Hackney. Dynamite beer selection and a bar billiards table.
Excellent selection ofFive Points beers, as youd expect. Guest range excellent, with frequent tap takeover nights. Recommended.
Lovely beer, lovely pizza, lovely staff :)
This is a great pub, with very friendly service and a prime location in the hub of Hackney between the two main rail stations. It has a great layout with lots of bar games and a seemingly very popular pub quiz. The kitchen was closed when we went, but we were able to get food delivered from nearby which was awesome!
Big spacious pub owned by the Five Points brewery. Great place for drinking with mates
A great busy pub on a busy junction in Hackney. The Pembury Tavern feels like all things to all people. Eclectic beers from Revolution Brewery. Great service and the rarest of all sights in London, a bar billiards table. Great visit.
Great place .Felt really welcome .Has a local pub feel about it .I dont eat pizza but as it is all you can have i digressed .Have to say Im so glad i did it was delicious .If you are in this area .Do yourself a favour ,go in and enjoy
Great beer selection, nice and cosy early Monday evening spot to chat and relax with friends
The worst pizza I ever had. Dry like a shoe sole burnt an amount of semolina that I could make polenta with left over
Great pub with a chilled atmosphere. We ordered a couple of pizzas the chilli honey (cant remember the namepizza was out of this world and the crack sauce was a delicious bonusFriendly staff too which is a bonus
Dont take cash.Which is great for lazy management, but endorses the globalists plan for CBDC.Use establishments that take cash.I travelled up from se london to enjoy the beer.Wont be going back.Same applies to the Tap Room.
Best place for 5 Points beer (and many other breweries too)Pizza also good, but choose carefully!
Awful awful bar staff. 4 families with kids were made to feel monumentally unwelcome despite buying more pizza and drinks than anyone else in there. Bar staff ordered us to keep our children sat, saying customers had been complaining. We apologised to any and all customers and none seemed to have an issue, save the bar staff.
Great pub, good beer, solid pizza.
The Pembury Tavern, placed on a busy junction offers a respite from the noise. Enter and youll be greeted by games galore and a magnitude of beverages. The joy ends there, take a sip of your Budvar and instead youll be greeted by egg. Eggy beer, gives me the fear. Fear of this establishment.
The Pembury Tavern is one of my favourite pubs in London. Its got the perfect blend of old boozer meets modern craft brewery establishment.Recently, I attended their annual Green Hop Beer Festival for a beer tasting session. It was absolutely fantastic. It was really good value for money for the quality of beer on show, the amount of it and the accommodation of our host Ryan!Ryan was fab, sharing the technical side of things but also making us all laugh throughout the session. Had a really great time and this is yet another reason why I love Five Points Brewery! Cant wait for the new brewery to open and go on a tour!
A good selection of craft beer, which was enjoyed by all. We also had some pizzas which were amazing. Different taste combinations to those one usually sees and all the better for it.
Great pub great beer , bloody fantastic pizza . Have the honey pie , brilliant
Great local pub. Excellent beers in particular their own Five Points Brewery range. Definitely worth a look. Food looks good - didnt get a chance to try it.
A great pub with a local feel, but hosting some amazing craft beers. Had great guest beers from Turning Point on when I visited, as well as their own beers (pub is ran by The Five Points Brewery). They keep the beers in great condition and at a decent price for London too. Currently table service only which is a little bit of a pain as you have to get staff attention, but its not really a big deal. Also serves amazing pizzas up, with the menu having a few bold different offerings. Staff were helpful and the pub is dog friendly.
Monday evenings are a little quiet, but still theres atmosphere here. Theres a quiz night for those who wish to join. Great selection of cask ales and drinks. Food served midweek to the weekend. You can reserve a table or rock up at the door, you may just get in!
The best pizza in hackney and super affordable! we placed an order when they were closed and through a glitch in the system it went through. A full refund was given in the hour and a discount code offered for the next time we wanted to eat with them again. Really great service!
Holy macaroni! Thats a seriously good pizza 🍕 an all round Sinatra, one for old blue eyes himself. The pub? - what a pub! Good vibes all round. And the beer? Fuhgeddaboudit! The best cask beer in town.Get yourself down there, bring you mates and have a ball.
Five Points range is excellent and at their own pub its exceptionally well kept. The pizza is also very good. A very different pub from the original, but a new lease of life is no bad thing. Only down side is the noise when its busy - but its worth shouting over.
October 2020:We ordered The Pembury’s Ace Pizza ‘The Marg’ for delivery, and it is one amazing pizza. By far the best in Hackney, and they have a lot of competition. They should definitely roll it out in other places too. It’s going to be my go-to pizza place from now on.From 8 months ago:Great fish option today on their Sunday Roast menu. Washed it down with a half of XPA. The chicken and cauliflower options looked amazing as well, and the kids loved the Mac ‘n’ cheese. Definitely coming back!
My favourite local pub with plenty to offer. All their beers are amazing and for a reasonable price. They also have really good pizzas and their Sunday roast looks very tempting and I will give it a try next time. Otherwise the place is very relaxing and its a good place to hang out with your mates. They also do pub quiz every Monday and sometime stand up comedies.
A great place to drink in Hackney. Recently taken over by Five Points Brewery and is their tap house. Has retained much of its old team and charm including the Bar Billiards table! One of only a handful remaining in London. Manager and staff are all super friendly too. Finally, as one of the few people in this world who don’t go crazy for pizza I gotta say their honey pie pizza is absolutely delicious and made me re-evaluate my no-pizza stance. If only I lived closer!
Much improved recently, lots of decent 5 points beer and excellent guests on tap and great pizza.
I thoroughly enjoyed my visit this classic East-End boozer.Based minutes away from Hackney Central station, and managed by craft beer masters, Five Points Brewing Company, The recently renovated Pembury Tavern (in Autumn 2018still retains the charm and features of an old boozer. Nowadays youll see local regulars mingle with the younger, cooler kids in the neighbourhood.Theres a billiard table that is free to play and craft beers on tap courtesy of the guys from Five Points. The selection of New York Neapolitan pizza was outstanding especially the Honey Pie. I struggle to name a better pizza in Hackney.Good beer, great company and buzzing vibes means I can happily recommend The Pembury Tavern to anyone looking for a place to catch up with mates with a beer.
The beers good here but then I do like 5 Points beer. The pub is basic, utilitarian even and on a Saturday lunchtime reminds me of a working mens club. All the furniture and no furnishings (and no carpet in particularmake it a noisy place. You cant hear yourself think! The staff seem friendly and the menu (pizza, pizza or pizzainexpensive.Good selection of their own ale on cask plus a few guests. A degree or two on the cool side but no complaints.A long string of keg taps for those so inclined.
Not sure about the pub but the pizzas are insane ....... too good to take a picture !!
First time coming here and I have to say, Ive never seen a refurb keep that old school pub feel while also looking completely modern done so well. Also helps that the beer is absolutely fantastic. Five Points always reliable classics, with some great guest beer on in the form of Donzoko. The pizza smells and looks great, so it probably tastes great as well, loads of veggie options and gluten free dough available. Fantastic place.
Good old fashioned style pub with a fabulous selection of craft beer. Its all freshly made in their own brewery across the road from the Pembury Tavern. Oh, and their pizzas are lovely too!
It’s grown on me as the beer selection has grown too 5 points are great but now there’s non hoppy beers too and wine and pizza is good. It’s super busy at the normal peak times. Pics from Sunday. I prefer it when it’s quite bit then That’s me. 5 points have given new life to the Pembury. Looks improved. It lost some of its pub feel, it’s now a tap room. Re name it a tap room not a tavern any more but good enough. Staff super friendly. Good vibes
I visited on a Sunday afternoon and sat outside in the sun. Average London beer prices with several options from the local Five Points Brewery on tap. It had a good vibe and nice decor inside. I imagine this place would be very busy in the summer- the outside space is limited, but on a Sunday I managed to get a bench and enjoy my beer in the sun!
Delightful pub, the veggie roast was delicious especially the mushroom filling in the wellington; 100% recommend, maybe would just serve the cabbage with some dressing as it was a bit meh; but 5 stars for atmosphere and service.
Beautiful pub with a fantastic range of, mostly Five Points Brewery, beers - very well priced too.Just over the road from the brewery, the beers are fresh and the staff know all about them. Had never seen some of the Five Points beers on tap in South London so great to try more of their range. The brown beer and JUPA are both worth a go.Didn’t eat but the roasts looked great and were reasonably priced at ~£15.
Great Sunday roast, Porchetta came with lots of crackling. Great range of locally brewed beers from Five Points who have recently taken over and refurbished the place.
This pub used to be some weird twilight zone! Now its brilliant! Great booze and pizza, would even go as far as saying that its better than yard sale!
Recently reinvented as a Five Point brewery tap. Really nice renovation, to bring it up to date. Solid line up on both cask and keg and incredible smelling pizzas. Just a short walk from Hackney Central and well worth a diversion.
Love the refurbishment job done by Five Points. Excellent beer and the pizzas were good too.
