Family-friendly eatery serves large portions of classic breakfast & lunch fare in a convivial space.
Delicious as always! I am an Over the Road Truck Driver and this is the best Breakfast you can get!
Friendly staff and great food. Whenever Im in State College,I go here for breakfast. There is no other place Ill go to.
Simply the best - my go to place when ever Im in State College. I recommend the Corned Beef Hash. Its delicious.
This place is always busy & always has a line…For good reason. Excellent food, great service. Recommend the waffles, omelets, home fries, & fresh-squeezed orange juice.
The hash browns are so good when crispy. Recommend this and the omelettes
Best breakfast in town. Come early or late to avoid the lines.
We always stop here at the one on College Ave. The best breakfast. Try the blueberry pancakes, they really are the best Ive had. Better than homemade. Also the corned beef hash is ridiculously great!!!
Great Food and good coffee and the staff is very friendly
Absolutely amazing! I cant think of a single fault with this place: they have amazing food, quick and polite service, and food that is to die for!
The Waffle Shop is a well known State College institution for a reason, it is a great place to go for a great meal with super service. We are never disappointed and always looking forward to our next visit.
This place is wonderful. The service is great, the staff members are very friendly and kind, the price is reasonable the food wasD E L I C I O U S !!There was a long line when we came in, but the wait wasnt too long.Everything was great!
The food here is always incredible, the service is always top notch, and portions are generous.
The single most popular breakfast and brunch spot for miles around. Great price and parking. Lines get long after 11:30AM. Largish menu with every item open to upgrades or substitutions. Bright and clean seating, with options for groups of 2, 4, 6 and occasional 8-12 if you can wait. Cash only, but there is an ATM machine inside. Closes at 3PM, so if you like the same style of food, check out The Greek (same ownersfor more good food.
The staff was very nice. Busy place, but no wait time. Food was excellent, not a bad thing to say!
Its a bit of a long line on Sun mornings but the servers are friendly and the food is very good!
Always fantastic food, great service and friendly staff.
Wow! The waffles were HUGE and delicious. The wait staff was exceptional. It was a great experience. Definitely worth visiting if you are in the area!
Consistent product. Recommend the Veggie Harvest and Greek omelette and the eggs Florentine.I always take the pancakes home, too much food
The only real drawback to coming here is how busy it can get, but lemme tell ya. its worth the wait every time! 🧇
Food was ok. Got togo and they didn’t provide a fork or anything. Had to eat the waffles with my hands.
Great place for lunch. The garden salad was delicious and plentiful, didnt even need to add chicken to it but Im happy I did, it to was very tasty!
Excellent food and excellent service. I always leave with a full belly and a happy heart.
Always amazing food, but they raised the prices a little.
Best spot for Brunch with family and friends. Nice food and great service
I’m a big fan of breakfast diners. Anytime I’m on the hunt for some food and I see a highly rated breakfast diner, there’s a good chance that’s where I’ll end up.I stopped at this place for “lunch” in the middle of a long road trip.TLDR: They live up to their high rating.Everyone in there was exceptionally friendly and the service was top notch.I ordered French toast (one of my go-toswith a side of hash browns (another go-to).My wife ordered eggs florentine.I sampled some of hers. She sampled some of mine. We agreed everything was delicious. My French toast was thick and fluffy. My hash browns were made from fresh potatoes. My only complaint would be the lack of REAL maple syrup, but hardly restaurant EVER has that, so I don’t hold it against this one. They also have a cool way for for you to pay right on your phone, if you want. Traditional payment methods (cash/cardare also an option, but the ability to scan my receipt with my camera and take care of everything right on my phone was too convenient to pass up.
Fast service, low prices, and great food
Delicious breakfast with generous portions. Only down sid easy we had stand in a very cold wind outside to wait to be seated. Popular place so the wait was because many other people wanted to have breakfast when we did.
Great food and service. Comfortable environment to have a breakfast 🍳Loved our last visit, busy place in the weekend, but very well managed. The food was great, and didn’t take too long. Price is good compared to portion, and big parking space for enough cars.
Honestly, whats there not to look about this place? Ive come here a dozen times dozens of times, and its never taken long to get my order no matter how busy it is. If you are curious about value, well, no worries there. Maybe you think that fast service, low price, and larger portions will mean quality suffers? NOPE. There is a reason this is a staple of Happy Valley.
Big portions for a great price! The atmosphere is wonderful - we came on a busy weekend around lunch time and they got us in quickly. Our server was Angie and she was great! I recommend all the Waffle Shops in State College!
Food was very good. Our waiter was amazing. It was very busy and he kept up…. We had a party of 10. Wait staff that brought out the food was friendly and professional. Only negative I have, was the hostess was rude. She needs to take some lessons from the wait staff on professionalism and friendliness. . But other than that. I would go back.
The Go-to breakfast spot in State College. I went with a friend whos a local and just totally raved about it so we had to go. We ordered a large muffin which was to die for. It was perfectly toasted and we added butter. I ordered the Eggs Florentine and they were so delicious! Highly recommend if youre from out of town.Service was awesome!!
This was my first visit to the waffle house for breakfast. Even though it was off season at penn state college (due to christmas holiday break), the place was buzzing and we had to wait a bit to get seating.I ordered a platter of eggs, bacon and potatoes with a muffin. It was just perfect.Even with a large crowd, service was quick and efficient. The server refilling coffee seems to know exactly when the mug is empty.Highly Recommended.
While in town for a graduation we got the chance to try this location of the popular Original Waffle chain.Even though it was very busy and with a line out the door, we were still seated probably within 15 minutes. The food, service, and experience were all excellent.Theres a reason this chain is so locally popular!
Where do I even begin? This place is outstanding!! Service is always super fast, every server that weve had was super friendly and quick. The food quality is out of this world. They do not go cheap. The pricing is perfect. There is usally a line, but it goes pretty quick (but, that tells you how good it is!). Highly reccomend!
Always incredible. If youre in town for a football game there WILL be a long line basically starting Friday but especially Sunday, but dont be dismayed. The Waffle Shoppe has been dealing with this for YEARS and youll never see a line that wraps around a building move faster. The food is definitely always worth the wait.
Typical brunch food. Fast service. Long wait times on weekend mornings, however.
The strawberry waffle is always my favorite 😍! I strongly recommend this original waffle shop because I think it’s the best among all the three in state college, and if I would like to recommend you for the first thing to try: I would definitely recommend a strawberry waffle with extra cream.🥳🥳🥳
Can’t wrong with this local favorite in State College. There is almost always a line outside, but it moves super quick. We were wrapped around the building and only waited 10 minutes to be sat. The food comes out fast for how busy they are. The bacon is by far the best here at the Waffle Shop over anywhere in the area. It’s super flavorful and thick-cut. The red-skin fried potatoes are seasoned to perfection, and of course how can you forget the amazing waffles. One of the top spots for breakfast.
This place is awesome! I had such a great breakfast here. It has all of the typical diner breakfast items along with some of their signature dishes. The portions are generous, and the quality was definitely there. The server was very nice and checked on our table the right amount. Even though there was a bit of a wait (Monday of Memorial Dayand the restaurant was packed, I still thought the food came out in a timely manner. Overall, I havent tried the other Waffle Shop locations, or even any other breakfast places in town for that matter, but I dont know why I would need to, this one rocks and is everything I need! If I am the one choosing the place to go to for breakfast, Ill choose this each time! I can highly recommend!
Always love coming here! They have been around for years. Growing up here in the area and eating here always gives me that nice dose of nostalgia. While the rest of State College is slowly changing and things arent what they used to be, these establishments have stayed strong and continue to thrive.Prices are great and the portions are very big. I had the healthy omelete and had a bunch of home fries left over. Plus the coffee is great! Robust and nicely brewed. It doesnt taste like sock water like in other places.
This is the best omelette place in State College! The buttermilk pancake was so good and soft. Omelette was good as well with perfect portion of cheese, vegi, and ham. I also ordered home fries as side, and it was good too! I would love to eat brunch here again!
This is perhaps one of the oldest waffle place in State College. The options on the menu were plenty and I had a stomach full during my visit. I had an Apple-Cinnamon waffle with whipped cream and the best omelette ever. No doubt this place has a long line during holidays. The expense was pretty reasonable give the amount of stuffs we all had.
Great breakfast spot! The good is delicious and the staff is super friendly! Highly recommended!
The crispy bacon and hot chocolate was very good. The hot chocolate sisnt taste like the watery powdered drink you get from other chain breakfast places. The mini chocolate chips on the whip cream was also a nice touxh. The pancakes were ok. I wouldnt run back for them. This waffle shop is a atand alone building. Not next to any shopping places.
Popular place for all ages to have a good breakfast. I was in State College for my friends son graduation. The waffle House was suggested as a great place my wife and I could have a good breakfast mean. The meals were incredible. I had scrambled eggs, bacon and waffles w/banana and nuts. I emphasized well the eggs and those came out to perfection. The waffle had to do over since there were no banana or nuts added. The waitress quick recognized the miss and told me she would have it corrected right away. The wait staff and the care the meals are prepared with would make this one of my best breakfast experiences ever. I wish there were many more like this in my state, people and service.
When we come to State, we enjoy coming here. The best breakfast in town. I always get eggs, toast, homefries and corn beef hash. Fresh red skin potatoes are delicious.
Now I get it! Ive driven past the Original Waffle Shop a half dozen times and marvelled at the number of people willing to wait in line to get served. Must be good, I thought to myself. But, no! Its better than good! Its amazing! Definitely the best waffle shop Ive been too.Lots of great selections on the menu...and some delicious twists on the standards. My Banana Nut Belgian waffle was incredible. The service is cheerful and friendly and attentive. Our server, Ryan, had a great sense of humor. And, yes, thank you. Ill take another cup of coffee. We arrived at 7:45 on a Sunday morning and were seated immediately. By 8 am there was already a line...so...plan to go early. But, Ill admit it now, after having eaten here, its worth the wait. And thats why they stand in line.
Great atmosphere, friendly staff, and awesome food. I was very impressed at how popular the place is and how quickly I recieved my meal with no errors.
The best place for breakfast in State College. Hands down, period. Wonderful staff, excellent portions, diverse menu. Be prepared for a line, and note that they only take cash (ATM on-site). We come here every time were back in town. Only when the line wraps around the corner of the restaurant do we begrudgingly go to the downtown or Atherton locations.
