The Original Pancake House in Tacoma

Wait staff is always nice, The food is great, I enjoy their pancakes and the different flavors of syrup, good coffee. I eat here alot for breakfast. Only drawback is parking is challenging and its very busy so you might have to wait to be seated especially on the weekends.

Great place. Service was great, though it seemed a little bit long between visits of the server as they were not super busy when we got there. I admit its possible she could have been doing other busy work that maybe she got behind on during a busier time so dont fault her for this beyond the rating given.

I ordered the breakfast sandwich with Bacon last Thursday. Awesome. Recommended by a waitress. Now Im here again, and I ordered Pigs in the blanket.

Service is always great, food quality is as well. Prices have always been higher here and it should be expected that a meal here aint gonna be cheap. What made me give them three stars was the fact that they literally took all of our favorite things off the menu (mushroom omelet, coconut pancakes, green chile anythingand nothing really stands out as special on their menu any more.....just another breakfast joint, and I can get breakfast for cheaper elsewhere.

Abigail was amazing! We showed up at open and she was very welcoming and gave us impeccable service. Whenever I am in town this is now my go to spot.

Just finished my biscuits and gravy. Yum! I also had a side of the pumpkin pancakes. Those were so delicious! My lady had the veggie omelet and she thought it was very good! Service was great as well. Will definetly come again if were ever in tacoma!

Expect a wait on weekends, but its worth it. Great breakfast options and enormous portions. Im a huge fan of their Swedish pancakes.

We were going to Portland and stopped at original pancake house . Food was great but poor service . When I told server that I am ready to order he ignored me and asked my partner if you need a minute . What a disrespectful behaviour. We usually give good tip but to that guy gave $2 only . Advise : change your servers

Our first time at this particular Original Pancake 🥞 House location, but just as good as the others. The waiter even offered us a coffee ☕️ to go, that was a first for us and a very rewarding experience 💟👍🏻

Highly overrated. After coming here and having to wait a while to be seated, we were underwhelmed by the food. Id rather save myself the wait and a couple of bucks and just go to IHOP if I want mediocre breakfast food. Better yet go to any number of local eateries for even better food and lower prices.

Great breakfast food, we ordered a plate of sausage and eggs with a side of pancakes but, as the restaurant name suggests, the pancakes were what you write home about. Good portions for a pretty affordable price

The food was great, but be careful if you have any food allergies. I tried to substitute bacon for the eggs that came with the meal and they wouldnt let me. Even though I told them I was allergic to eggs and their menu states substitutions are accepted with a fee. I wouldve been more than willing to pay the fee.Food- 5 starsCustomer service- 1 star

The gluten free pancakes are awful. Theyre gummy and so bland that I ended up SALTING mine. They claim that their pancakes are buttermilk, but failed to mention that the GF pancakes are not.The coffee and the bacon were both very good.

This is where you go to eat to your hearts desire the best breakfast food your grandmother would have made. I ordered an egg omelet, and was surprised by the huge serving size. My whole family could have survived on that goodness! And then pancakes, too? Its an embarrassment of riches. My party left with mostly full boxes, satisfied and waiting for digestion to create empty stomachs so that they might eat again. Its that good, folks. Get thee to the Original Pancake House!!

Best breakfast place Ive found in Tacoma, and thats saying something! I dont normally like pancakes much, but their banana pancakes rock. It comes with a tropical syrup which I never would have yrird if not by accident. Its also very good.It should go without saying, but everything is high calorie. If you dont want pancakes, this isnt the place for you. They sell some other things, but the pancakes are the best part.

Not a bad thing on the menu. Only frustrating part is choosing what to eat. The original pancakes are hard to beat but I typically go with the chocolate chip pancakes. 🥞The omelets are huge and so good. Corn beef hash is delicious. Biscuits and gravy are 🤤🤤🤤.The bacon is to die for. 💀Food was on the table ten minutes after ordering. Super fast.

They deserve 1 million awards for this breakfast dish! Bacon and cheddar omelette is everything! The potatoes are everything! The thick toast is everything!!!! I took a 3 hour nap after! Cant wait to go back!!! Please go visit!

Ok. It lives up to its name and rep. At least this restaurant in Tacoma does. The mushroom omelette and coconut pancakes were fabulously yummy. The coffee rich and flavorful. 😋😋😋😋

Didnt give me any condiments for my pancakes and stuff. But the food was good. Just had to go to the store to buy syrup 😩

I had a pick up order today and the food was terrible compared to all other Original pancake houses I have attended. The potatoes were burnt to a crisp, they forgot fried eggs and a whole order of pancakes. We called to hopefully get the missing food and they were very rude and unwilling to help. For how expensive these meals were no one should have a faulty order. We will be spending our hard earned money at the Original Pancake House in south hill instead next time to get better food and service. I strongly suggest others do the same to avoid being disappointed.

Fluffy eggs, meats are good, cornbeef hash is even better, pancakes are delicious.

Lots of choices on menu and you will leave with a full belly for sure. Those buttermilk pancakes were darn good. I would go back again to try something different next time. Parking isnt the easiest or most accessible but the food makes up for it.

I live quite close to here and the breakfast burritos are a wonderful deal for how filling they are. For my lifestyle its incredibly convenient to order one online, quickly go and pick it up, and then eat it before heading off to work. Huge timesaver in the morning and a delicious filling meal.

I had 1 other questionable experience with this place in the past. So because of the customer service then i decided to give them another try.....Im extremely sorry I did. i ordered my breakfast via delivery and when i got my food it was poorly packaged and tasted HORRIBLE!!! They clearly microwaved my food and melted the container inside and sent it that way as my pictures show?!! I am angry i spent my money on this and ended up throwing it away after a few bites :/ I WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN Run from this place.

I cant confirm they are in fact the "original" pancake house, but they do make a fine flapjack. Prices seem inflated, but inflation will do that. They are delicious, and the service is always reliable. They topped off my coffee line 15 times in the hour I was there, so my apologies if I seem a bit jittery. Five stars.

Love the food, seats and tables were dirty. Even my fork was dirty, other than that. 5/5 server, good food. Well be coming back!

Ordered over $97 worth of food from The Original Pancake House. The 2 things of orange juice I ordered did not come and the chicken fried stake was completely RAW! Due to all the gravy on the dish my fiance did not see it was raw till he had eaten nearly half of it. I called the restaurant and spoke to a manager. She told me she could only offer me a gift card for the amount of the one meal. They give us raw meat, risked our health and the only thing they could say was to offer me a gift card for the amount of the one dish? I dont feel comfortable even finishing the rest of the food we ordered.

We were lost around the neighborhood and we ended coming here. I had the waffle topped with fresh and sweet strawberries, with fluppy scrambled eggs and a very-yummy-crispy beautiful bacon! Its one of the best bacon I had❤️ My husband get a wonderful corned beed has which he also enjoyed! Service was fast. All their staff are friendly.

While visiting Tacoma, we had food from this place delivered to us. Everything was freshly made (I know the eggs were bc my husband had a shell in his eggs LOL), & delicious. The restaurant is about 30 mins away but the food was not cold when it arrived. The bacon was very good & thick cut. The eggs were great. I got dollar pancakes for the kids, Hawaiian pancakes for my husband & pumpkin pancakes for me. The food was very goodjust from delivery, I can only imagine how good it will be if we ate it hot & fresh at the restaurant.Im from Texas so the price was a little high for me but I know that I cant compare the prices from one State to another.Overall we were highly satisfied with our breakfast.

Great place to grub. Hunny had fresh orange juice, I had hot coffee. Nice size portions, food came out in a timely manner, waiting staff was needless to say "AWESOME". plan to be back more times in the future.

Good waffles, not the Belgian kind, the real waffles. I had the plain waffle, my over medium eggs were perfect, the bacon was the best I ever had. My husband had the bacon waffle, his scrambled eggs were made the right way. Be sure to join their rewards program. I loved they had different flavors of syrups. I had their homemade strawberry syrup, very good.

Simply Delicious breakfast. With tasty all american dishes. Definitely a spin on anything breakfast you can get many different types of flavored pancakes. For this visit I had sourdough french toast and it was pretty memorable.

I highly suggest you get in line via their app if you plan to come here during the weekend. The atmosphere was very welcoming and the Resteruant felt new and fresh. Staff was friendly and prompt.The food portions were a little small and compared to other OPH we have been to. We ordered the pancakes and a the Benedict. The taste was average.

OPH was established in 1953. This place was amazing. The food was great and when they say thick bacon...they mean thick. The homemade corned beef hash was the best I had. Now their Georgia Pecan Waffles with their homemade Tropical syrup is something I will definately order again. Their service was as great as their food. A definate revisit for me. Peace!

Visually seems like a nice place but has some weird qualities about it and its unnecessarily expensive. I went to their website to order before driving their from the base (about 20 minand when I went to order it directed me to a chownow website to place the order. I thought the order sent after I entered my payment info and hit check out but I got all the way to the restaurant for them to tell me my food wasnt ready at first and then when I asked again a few minutes later they couldnt find my order. So I showed them the screenshots I took when I placed the order and what i had ordered only for them to say they didnt have it. So i fiddle with it some more after making sure i wasnt paying twice and got a confirmation - so I didnt click enough buttons to begin with- my fault. But when she asked me if i had ordered thru chownow or their page when their page only goes to chownow i started to get frustrated. So now Im busying myself for 15 mins waiting for it to be cooked and asked if it would be much longer so I could go back to work but she said she was packaging it up. So Im watching the girl at the counter for another 5 min as shes scratching her hair and face and touching peoples togo containers 😒 finally they bring my food and she remembered I ordered a drink. I check my food while I continue to wait but she comes back with this 8-10 cup of grapefruit juice they charge over $3 for 😤. Definitely not worth it. The food wasnt very good. Barely seasoned and overpriced. Disappointing overall for the time it took to get there, to the wait, to the unnecessary crowd in the waiting area when there were plenty of open tables, to the price to the bland food.

Oh. My. Goodness! Ive gone to the Redmond OPH for years, but this was my first time at the Tacoma location. Hands down better than Redmond. Their GF options are clearly indicated and absolutely delicious. I had the blueberry GF pancakes with fresh squeezed OJ that was to die for! The syrup was a blueberry syrup that you didnt want to waste, and the pancakes were so light and fluffy yet also had the perfect density! My husband tried corn beefed hash for the first time and now has a new favorite dish, and said that the fresh grapefruit juice was fantastic. The waitress (did not catch her name :-/ was friendly and attentive. So happy to be living near this location! 10/10 will try again!

We had breakfast, this was my first visit. They have a very friendly staff especially Mckenzie! Very nice, clean atmosphere. The food was very good. Average size portions. The bacon is 1/4" thick, very tasty! We will definitely return to "The Original Pancake House". They have several locations, Tacoma, Puyallup and more. Come try for yourself!

Went today for breakfast and even for being Labor Day, the wait was only about 15-20 minutes which was fantastic because it gave us time to walk around 6th ave since they have the option to leave your number for a message alert when they have a table ready.I got the (4pumpkin pancakes and 2 eggs sunny side up and my partner got the country fried steak which comes with eggs (he got scrambled), fried potatoes, and 3 regular pancakes. We also got the carafe (when i asked the waitress how to pronounce the word, she kindly told us like giraffeof orange juice.Everything was PHENOMENAL! Both kinds of pancakes were cooked to perfection. The regular were the perfect amount of buttery and the pumpkin had a light pumpkin pie flavor. They also had very fluffy butter that melted evenly and quickly but wasnt too heavy. The eggs were really great too! Never had them cooked this way but they were delicious! The country fried steak had one of the best gravies weve ever had on it and it was a tad bit chewy but not terribly. The scrambled eggs were fluffy and the potatoes were perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Their warm syrup has the perfect maple flavor while not being overly sweet which was great because I had accidentally over poured and thought I had ruined the pumpkin pancake flavor. The orange juice was also very much freshly squeezed as it had pulp through its entirety and it tasted just like biting into a ripe orange.Overall, the staff and service were great and very friendly, the food came out in a timely manner and the restaurant atmosphere was intimate despite it being packed because of the lighting. We will definitely be back and Im definitely going to have to try the tropical syrup flavor.

Had a great first experience here. I loved the Country fried steak and eggs. The staff was friendly and professional and the atmosphere was pleasant.There is street parking and a small parking lot to park in and its located pretty much right off 6th.Gonna be back forsure.

Excellent food and service. Worth the 15 minute usual wait to be seated. Sundays typically over 30 minutes. Prices are a little high but food quality is well worth the price. Best pancakes in Tacoma. My favorite place for breakfast.
