Such a great little gem! Your admission price gets you in unlimited amounts of time while youre staying on the island. The staff is so kind and knowledgeable. They really invested in my son and showed him so many cool things! Bert the hedgehog was a fan fave for my 2 kids (8yrs and 1yr). We also all enjoyed the butterfly release they did! Go around 11am so you can see Bert!

This place is absolutely beautiful! We spent so much time in the greenhouse with the butterflies. They were all so beautiful and the plants were also gorgeous. I loved it. Coulda spent hours here. I also lover the insect display. All of the employees were very willing to share information as well.

I had low expectations to start with but this was very disappointing. A small area with some butterflies and then an aquarium area. NOT worth the $13 admission. I truly can not believe that they advertise this as a tourist attraction!! If you go...treat it as a donation.

This is a total waste of money. Admission should be free at best. We paid $13 for each adult and had about a 5 min walk thru a tiny little area with butterflies flying around. Then walked thru a high school like aquarium area that had a few beatles, frogs etc. Totally NOT worth the money! We were done in 10 minutes and had to push it to stay that long. Dont waste your money here. : (

You need to LOVE butterflies (not just enjoy themto make this experience worth the money. We paid $26 for two adults for maybe a 6 minute walk-thru. Also, not nearly as many butterflies as one might expect. Save your money.

Definitely recommend taking the time to experience this. They provide a chart so you are able to mark off all the different butterflies you see.

The butterfly house is a great escape to get out of the sun for a bit on the island! Not only is the butterfly garden beautiful, but very informative as well. The staff is also highly knowledgeable, as they really know what they are talking about, they have no problems identifying any of the butterflies and answering any questions you may have about them. The critters after the garden are very fun as well. There is also a butterfly scavenger hunt, which could easily occupy even the most scatter brained children for a good twenty minutes.

Very cool place! You can buy tickets at the door and you can get a bracelet to come as many times as you want for the day. Very beautiful and there are so many butterflies! They land on you and its so fun. Definitely recommend!

So cute! Large variety of insects and amazing butterfly knowledge. Would recommend to anyone, children and adults alike. Also! Get a coupon from the pamphlet at any number of places, but even if you dont have a coupon - theyll most likely apply the discount anyways! :)

The Original Mackinac Island Butterfly House & Insect World is a great little place to stop by and check out. The Butterfly House is filled with amazing butterflies fluttering around you in a tropical greenhouse. This exhibit also features a bee hive, live insects, and other exotic animals, including a hedgehog. Admission is for the whole day, so you can come back again!

Lots of butterflies, insects, spiders, and other creatures in a small space. A great activity especially if the weather is not good.

This is a totally awesome place. We spent a long time in there and was able to have the butterflies land on us and even walk on our hands. The place is clean. Not overly crowded. It was included with our carriage ride around the island. Its well worth the price to go and see this place. The who l e island is beautiful.

I visited here with my 12 yo daughter. The main exhibit is basically a large open garden room with some water features and many flowering plants for the butterflies. There are many different types of butterflies flying around you in the room. We enjoyed watching them and took quite a few pictures. It was a nice experience.

We had a wonderful time sitting in the butterfly garden hoping to have a butterfly land on us. It was a relaxing moment in the middle of a bustling day walking and hiking around the island

It has a butterfly garden, nature center with various animals, gift shop. Nice stop, especially for children, they have interactive demonstrations in the nature center and you can watch them release the newly hatched butterflies.

My husband really enjoyed being able to hang out and try to identify as many butterflies as he could. It was fun having them land on us also. The staff were very knowledgable and willing to answer any questions.

This was such a beautiful experience. The original Mackinac Island Butterfly House and Insect World is a must visit when in Macinac Island. They host a variety of butterflies from all over the world, and I could just keep watching them all day long.

After visiting, Im very concerned about the butterflies safety. They are in an environment too vulnerable to people and overhead fans. Some are landing on the floor where its easy to be stepped on. This is cruel!

Nice place really close to our hotel. The first room goes over the different butterflys and life stages as well as shows the cocoons that they have in there waiting to hatch. From there you enter the butterfly garden which is a will maintained garden with a water feature. From the second you walk in you are face to face with hundreds of butterflies. At the entrance they give you a little butterfly identification guide so you have an idea of what youre looking at and where theyre from. There are plenty of places to just sit and watch the butterflys fly around you. There is some relaxing music playing in the background. The staff inside will help answer any questions you might have. From there you enter the insect room that has things like a turtle pond different insects that have been mounted on the wall as well as some living in enclosures. There are also some things like frogs beetles and a hedgehog. As you exit theres a small gift shop. I really enjoyed this place and ended up going back to see the butterflies again before the trip was over.

We visit this place every time we visit the island! The pricing is pretty reasonable. Getting to watch actual butterflies hatch is one of the coolest experiences!! A must see!The indoor green house where butterflies are flying all over is truly a site to see. You can take your time and spot all the different species. Great place to take photos up close and personal to species you wont usually get to see in the wild.They also have a few reptiles to see in the second part of the building. Great place for kids, families and handy cap accessible.

What an amazing place. Always a great place to stop and visit. Pay once and visit as many times as you want through the day. Lots of great butterflies here.

Loved it! Lots of butterflies to enjoy. Gave us a nice identification chart. Insect/reptile section was a nice bonus. They let us revisit with our tickets, which made it worth the money even more. One of our favorite visits on the island.

Probably the best enclosed butterfly area I’ve ever been to. There were WAY more butterflies than your typical enclosure. Several landed on us while in there; a fun stop if you’re on the island. They also let you come back as much as you like after you buy a ticket (if you buy your ticket from the butterfly shop on the main road, it’s a dollar cheaper).

What a cool place to visit! Butterflies everywhere. My young daughter had a blast at this as did I! Tip: its very warm and humid in the sanctuary area, so dress appropriately. We have been here 2x and would come again

Great place to take the kids during your visit on the island. The butterflies are beautiful and they also have other insects. Its a nice 20-30 minute attraction.

While on the island this attraction is worth the stop.It is a small exhibit but does feature Butterflies and BugsThe butterfly house is a small quick walk though but does have several great photo ops.It cost 2 adults and 1 child 24.00 for it, but I’m all about supporting the island and the butterflies so no big deal.It is warm inside the exhibitSo that plus a mask can be slightly difficult to breatheBut once again you should do it!

This is a small place but it has a lot to see. You can get your moneys worth by taking your time to enjoy the butterflies and other creatures (mostly insectsthat are on display. There are live butterflies and insects but also hundreds from around the world on display on the walls. These giant and freaky specimens are worth seeing. Admission allows you to return all day.

This was the second time Id visited and I was not disappointed. Its so cool to be around the butterflys in their element just flying around. I could have stayed for a long time (but sadly could not). They had a good number of butterflys in the butterfly area. There was a bench to seat so you could relax and enjoy the butterflys (just had to make sure not to sit on any). The insects were also a cool addition to this visit. I believe there are 2 butterfly houses on the island, but this one is me and my husbands favorite one.

Very nice place...unique and very scenic. No cars makes it even better! We were able to take our own bikes across on the ferry. I would love to go back at least a second time!

It was amazing! All the different kinds of butterflies flying around were just so beautiful. Also very informative; there were so many different kinds of butterflies and moths that I wasnt even aware of, you can see them in their different life stages.. it was very cool. Plus all the different insects they had, huge ones... it was just an awesome experience. I went twice while staying on the island, and will definitely be back!

Its was quite nice seeing all those different species of butterflies and insects in person. I recommend people go see it if theyre in Mackinac Island.

Very clean, many different butterflies and insects. It wasnt busy when we went, so we got about of personalised attention from the staff. My partner and I plan to put a monarch butterfly way station in our backyard and the staff here had loads of information for us and also gave us some free seeds for this project.

Neat attraction! Be prepared to sweat though....it is really hot and humid in the there. It is definitely worth it though. The flowers and the butterflies are beautiful. My favorite part was the fairy garden :and they sell fairy garden items in the gift shop.
