Open since 1971, this family eatery serves pizza, burgers & other American fare in a homey space.
Had a large, 1/2 the works & 1/2 meat lovers Pizza. They have tables on the sidewalk & it was a beautiful evening to sit out. The waitress was jokey & the atmosphere was great. Everyone should support a fine establishment like this during the post hurricane economy. Been a long time since I have been to this place, but i will make it a point go again soon.
Cool find! The waiter was super friendly, attentive and helped me decide on a dish, it was delicious. The dessert selection is beautifully presented and also tasty 😋. The portion is great, you wont leave hungry. Theres something for everyone. We will be back.
We had the Hamburgers, Stromboli and Gyros. They were all good and can recommend. Service was good but the noise level is almost too loud for conversation.
Nice spot for lunch with a friend before he flew out. The food was all great and served quickly and hot.
Pizza and pastry are the bomb. Onion rings are great, I needed more than 10 rings. B-)
3 meat calzone is off the chain. Absolutely delicious.Surprisingly good pizza for not being just a pizza place. We are always satisfied with the food here, Thank you.
CC was charged to the wrong check by the server, who then said sorry and claimed she voided it. The correct check was then charged all good. Waited 7 days and no credit for $50+ charge to be credited. Went back and talked to the unprofessional not very polite, I assumed to be the manager. Gave him all the intel and waited a long time for him to return from the office. He then explains he needs to talk with the server and trys to tell me she needs to explain what happen to the wrong payment and she still has a balance. Im like what, just please credit me CC, he basically argues with me saying your NOT listening to me and then says he will take care of it. Okay I leave and now 4 more days later nothing done, he basically lied to my face about taking care of it.
Best Grilled Chicken Waldorf salad Ive ever had! I try to pick up a to-go order of it weekly. Highly recommend
Awesome little hole in the wall we found just driving through looking for food. I ordered the firecracker chicken sandwich and it was awesome! I don’t know what was in the sauce but get some extra. Fresh cannolis too! What!
While a bit on the expensive side it was one of the best pizzas me and my wife have had in some time. and the garlic Knots were quite good as well.
Stopped in on a whim. Best pizza Ive had in a long time!
OMG go here! Youre missing out if you dont. The desserts, the food, the flavor, the service...is EVERYTHING! Amanda is amazing and really knows her stuff!
We used to eat there 3xs a week. Once for breakfast and a few times a week for dinner. Well, they got rid of breakfast, which is really disappointing and the pizzas now are terrible! The large is like a medium and quite honestly I’d rather get a pizza from hungry Howies. Very disappointed in this restaurant. We used to support them as well as all the local businesses in downtown Sanford but I would have to say, for now until they change, something stay away
Had the hot wings and fries for lunch. The wings came out hot and cooked just right. The fries were plentiful, hot and crispy. My server was very Attentive and polite. They have a great array of sweets for dessert. Wish I wasnt full from the wings, fries and beer. Next time I am in Sanford I will grab a bite and have dessert. Christos is definitely a destination place if you are ever in Sanford, Fl.
Had a Chicago Beef sandwich, great. Didnt have dessert this time but what a selection of made right on premises. Service was very good and the restaurant is very clean, pricing was also very good.
okay not gonna lie this food was way better than i thought it would be. the greek potatoes were SOO good. service was efficient despite how busy it was.
Stopped here after a long day at Disney. Well worth the stop. My wife and I spent the night in Sandford about a week ago. Lovely little town. We arr definitely coming back here for our next Florida visit.
Delicious food, long wait. Ive been here twice and while the food was fantastic you stand a chance of having a longer than normal wait time no matter the time of day.
The food is pretty good but the price has gone up twice since living down the street in Sanford plus if you order delivery it will never be hot. Christos is by far the most expensive pizza joint in Sanford. The burger and the fried mac and cheese appetizer is the same price. That is Atrocious.
Dinner was great! Interesting combo of Italian and Greek. The pepperoni bread and French onion soup were awesome. I am disappointed I forgot to get some of those delicious looking desserts on my way out. The cookies looked amazing.
Good personal pizza, calzone and Greek salad . The chicken gyro wrap was very good too . Very fresh ingredients and pita bread . The yogurt cucumber sauce was very tasty . Service was good too. Friendly and gave good recommendations . Nice sidewalk seating .
I love this place! I have yet to eat anything bad here. My favorites are the personal pizzas or the burgers. Friends rave abt the French dip (which has a different name that i cant recall at the moment whenever we see a show at Theatre West End right next door (which is also a fantastic placewe always eat at Christos first. Highly recommend
Exceptional service from Hailey. Cute girl with blue hair. She was patient and kind and very accommodating. She didnt hesitate to answer any of our questions, and many had nothing to do with the menu but about the area. She gave us a great experience all the way around and it was so nice to have good service for a change. She is a asset to that establishment and I Truely hope she is recognized as one. Especially when good restaurant help is hard to find its so important to respect and appreciate a great employee and we Truely did. Thank you so much 😀
Had a really delicious gyro, they have quite the selection of yummy looking cakes and desserts that I want to try my next trip around. The server did a great job as well
Great little spot! They make their sauce and pizza dough in house as well as their cheesecake and the other fresh baked desserts! I had the classic Italian Stromboli which was great, but the made-from-scratch cheesecake was absolutely phenomenal! I also stole one of someone elses french fries and they were crispy and delicious too! Will definitely be back
2 original gyros, one salad and 2 hot teas... 55$.... the sandwiches with gyro they was bearable....the greek salad was a joke! 4 slices of tomato 3 slices of cucumber literally.....our server tho, was a very polite young lady. But overall they never gonna see us again!
Visited today with my daughter and my mother. Upon entering, we received a pretty lame “welcome”. We opted to sit outside on the patio. The patio furniture appeared to be 20 years past it’s life expectancy but that was not the issue. After being ignored for nearly 15 minutes, we got up and left. Before leaving, we watched one of the servers (younger male with a ponytailvisit two of the tables near us 3-4 times and another female server checked on another table. Its unfortunate to see a small local business operate this way but fortunately this bad apple does not represent Sanford as a whole. I love supporting our local businesses but this place will not be one of them. We ended up going to Colonial Room on the next block instead and the service and food was wonderful there.
Late afternoon dinner. Tried the Greek nachos and they did not disappoint. Very flavorful. Trying the pepperoni bread next. Our “dessert “. The bread was to die for. Massive amounts of pepperoni and cheese in a crispy dough. Service was good. We were literally the only guests when we arrived. We heartily recommend.
Long time customer,,, attentive staff, a wide variety menu, original and traditional fare,,, great salads, pizza, Italian, Stromboli, calzones, pasta, and sauces, an original appetizers variety, great wings, and some of the best cheeseburgers around... fair pricing,,, and an old school dessert glass display case..... Even at the busiest times seating is quick ... and the cooks keep up ... reasonable wait times, hot food to the point... good for all kids and adults... a Sanford original restaurant....
Christo’s has a wide selection of food items and they all looked tasty. We had the Tarpon Springs Greek Salad and Traditional Gyro. Both were very good, but the salad portion could have been a little larger for the price ($11.99). We shared a slice of Orange Cake. The slice was huge and very tasty, but the cake was a little dry.
Excellent service. Delicious food and amazing upside-down pineapple cheesecake cake.
Waitress was wonderful and food was very good. Wait til you see the desserts, wow!! Highly recommend 👍
I didnt enjoy my first experience here. Ordered a bread bowl, comes with garlic knots and pepperoni cheese bread. It looked awful and tasted awful. Garlic knots were cold in the middle, the bread was indescribably greasy cold and congealed, while the marinara sauce was lava hot. If I had to guess I would say it was made way ahead of time. Not fresh. The waitress was very apologetic and removed it from our bill. She asked the cooks to provide fresh knots, they were better, but not good enough for us to finish them. Burger was good, there were nice cheese options. My fried cheese ball was greasy and the cheese had separated inside. The beef sandwich pretty dry, thank goodness for the au jus. To help salvage the experience our very kind server gave us a bag full of cookies. I was excited for some fresh cookies! Unfortunately, they were cold and also just didnt hit. I tried a bite from most of them but couldnt eat a whole one, I am so glad I didnt have to pay for them.I really hate writing reviews like this, but we were super disappointed with what was served from the beginning and the restaurant just couldnt recover from there, that was my first and last time visiting. I hope you have a better experience if you decide to go.
Being a NY’er from a Brooklyn based Italian family, I thought the food, especially and Italian dishes, were mediocre at best. I mean, it was warm, it wasn’t spoiled, but it was….. lacking in every way. My friend and I are foodies. We meet up often and try different restaurants. We had seen all of the rave reviews on Google and figured it would be worth a little drive to try this place. Guess we were wrong. I also thinks the owners, their friends and family must post a lot of reviews because this is not a 4 star or better restaurant. Trust me, I managed a few over 30 years.Hey, it wasn’t bad……it was like a high school cafeteria ….it resembled dishes from somewhere else, just didn’t taste as good. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I see people like the place. But, there’s no “wow factor”. Really….. it’s weak dinner food, served by a rude and disrespectful staff. I won’t even approach that one. The wait staff was openly rude to others. I shudder thinking that’s normal practice there. Their Italian offerings would be great Italian did in North Dakota, maybe……. but this place wouldn’t make it 2 weeks in NYC area or the Island. It’s boring and lacking in many areas. Dumping cheese and sauce all over a meal doesn’t make it Italian……it only makes it covered in bland sauce and cheap greasy mozzarella cheese. Hint, the good stuff doesn’t drip oil. My buddies meal looked slightly better, but just because a dish presented fairly well, obviously doesn’t mean it tastes well.Honestly, not worth going out of the way for. There are other options. Keep driving. Save yourself from a rude staff and a restaurant that would never make it anywhere else. Sad, I see it’s been open awhile….. would’ve expected much more
Good variety of choices on the menu and very good sandwiches. From pizza to burgers to steak and wraps or salads, this place has what you hunger for. One of my faves is the Stromboli. Some people go just for the desserts.Outdoor dining on 1st street is quaint, service is good, prices are reasonable. Try it!! Been going here for years.
First time visiting and we were gladly impressed, we got the chicken wings and the lasagna with Caesar salad and both were great! We waited almost 45min for our food but it was 9PM and the restaurant was full on St Patrick’s Day, so I don’t blame them. Service was good. Cakes looked delish, we will try them next time.
Great place for lunch, with a nice dog-friendly sidewalk patio area and some wonderful offerings for dessert in their baked goods case. The cakes are wonderfully decadent, but my favorite has to be the large snickerdoodle cookie. Friendly and attentive staff, cozy and welcoming atmosphere.
Great place to grab lunch. The food is very, very good and the service is awesome.
So disappointed with this place, was really looking forward to trying a gyro. I saw the awesome reviews and assumed they would serve a standard gyro. I received nothing but sauce, tomatoes and meat in my wrap, when I called to inform them, I was told I need to order the “ultimate gyro” in order to include all (standardtoppings. Will not be back, I’ll stick to Krazy Greek Kitchen for my gyros!
This restaurant was absolutely amazing. I really enjoyed my visit here. The food was finger licking good, clean, fresh and hot. The customer service was superb, paying attention to my individual needs with a smile. This has become one of my favorite places. Thank you.
This is one of the best restaurant experiences I’ve had since covid started. The service is great at the atmosphere here drove me into total childhood nostalgia. They even have those plastic cups old school pizza parlors had.
Food was really good and service outstanding. Portions are really big and super filing. We had wings, humus and ribs.... what a feast. We defenetly will go back soon....
If I had to say one thing about this place it would be CHOCOLATE PEANUT BUTTER CREME PIE. If you get anything here it needs to be one of their delicious and I mean delicious creme pies. I came for a calzone and left with a pie addiction. The service was great, and there was plenty of outdoor seating which I deeply appreciate. And they were very accommodating to my vegetarian needs. If Im ever in the area again I will definitely be back.
This eatery has a friendly staff and plenty of options. The main issue was the lack of masks/ removal of masks while serving food. Our server as well as most of the staff has the masks pulled down when talking to customers/ behind the food prep station getting ready to serve the food . In addition, some didnt cover their nose when serving customers or boxing up food.
This place is delicious! We eat here when we visit our friends in Sanford. The service is always great and the food is as well. They have a great selection and there are plenty of vegetarian options for me which is always helpful. Clean restaurant and plenty of space too. The calzone I had today was to die for!!
If I could give this place more stars I would! We ordered fried cheese, hummus, onion rings, calzone and white pizza. EVERY SINGLE bite was phenomenal. Best restaurant Ive been to in YEARS. By far the best pizza Ive had since leaving NYC. Im absolutely in love with this place! Im a customer for life!
13 Jul 2019 we discovered this restaurant in Sanford FL as we were walking around the area tonight. A great find. The restaurant is unassuming, but has plenty of character and many options on the menu. It has a nice variety of appetizers, drinks, sandwiches, pastas, pizzas and desserts. The service is fast and friendly. The quality of the food is high. My only concerns were a couple of things I noticed on the menu and took pics of. These are nothing that would keep me from returning, but they are pet peeves of mine that Ive seen before at other family owned restaurants. 1providing some extra red sauce, particularly in the small cup size as the initial serving, at a nuisance cost of $0.50 is unnecessary nickel and dimming. Almost insulting. You can see the cup size in the picture. Sauce at that quantity costs almost nothing. Save the cost of a plastic cup and put the extra sauce in a small reusable saucer or ramekin. 2when serving sandwiches, particularly at dinner time, French fries should be part of the deal at the listed meal price, NOT POTATO CHIPS. Other reviewers have the same comment. Christo family.... Are you listening?! Seriously, chips as the only option unless I pay $4.00 for an order of fries? More nickel and dimming... Really its quartering and dollaring. But as I said, these two peeves wouldnt prevent my return visit particularly because the food was very good, the service was great and the environment was pleasing. You should give this place a try if you havent been here already. Im already looking forward to my next visit. The burgers and desserts look great!
Located in Historic downtown Sanford. The waitress was pleasant and very attentive. Dinner arrived quickly. The personal vegetable pizza, classic stromboli w/marinara sauce were both good. My spouse rated the hamburger a 2 as he requested medium well and it was overdone and dry with no flavor no juices it came with regular potato chips. Lots of dessert options for viewing in two cases. The chocolate chip filled chocolate cookie was good. But overall it was a nice dining experience.
Really excellent quality food. My wife and I ordered the Greek Salad (split it for usand shared a Steak cheeseburger cooked Medium well with onion ring, cheese and French fries. Felt right at home, only downside was the wet seats and a pinch of salt to the food would have made it truly epic. But loved the restaurant and would certainly return!
Great food! I had the calzone here. It was delicious. This is a great place to hit up after spending an evening in historic downtown Sanford. The service was great and the food came out pretty quick.
