Floating Harbour, Princes Wharf, Bristol BS1 4RN, Bristol
Rustic Mediterranean restaurant and cosy tapas bar on 2 floors, with far-reaching harbourside views.
Great if you love Tapas a little on the expensive side but well worth a vist
Only called in here on passing on the spur of the moment. Quite a nice menu but we only had drinks here. Seemed quite busy and popular. Not cheap, had a liqueur coffee and 2 glasses of coke for £18! Looked like the kind of food I would like, but didn’t get chance. Staff were friendly but it did take a while for them to come take our order, maybe because we were just having drinks.
Great place. Great vibe. Would recommend. Our servers.. Raiff & Hannah were excellent. Food was fabulous.
Excellent tapas food with colorful maitre d. Great views of the docks. Helpful with disabled parking.
Visited last night on a whim, met with amazing gluten free choices and we shared tapas between 3. Thankyou so much for catering so kindly and knowledge toward Coeliac Disease.
The food was very tasty, service ok. We waited a long time for the food to come out. It is a tapas but our patotoes came out when we had finished all the other plates, the service didnt flow and we waited far to long between dishes.
Food great. Charlie’s amazing. Would definitely recommend.
The food was amazing and a stunning location. Whole evening was made even better by top service from charming Charlie! Can’t wait to come back.
Amazing evening watching the sun go down at The Olive Shed - delicious food, served by chatty & charismatic Charlie - thank you so much! We will be back!
Omg fantastic, we came a year back and it was stunning. Back this bank holiday weekend and things are just as good if not better, the staff and food are simply stunning, we will be back !!!
Food was good... Not excellent, though, and not cheap.Staff were pleasant but the place is strangely devoid of atmosphere.
Attentive and very welcoming staff. Fresh and tasty fish and seafood! We loved the view looking over the harbour from the restaurant. Bread wasn’t great.
Very good food, drinks were a little less tasty.
Chose our food from the Tapas menu, all 6 of our dishes were very good, service was very friendly and adequate (very busy time of day), maybe a little pricy for serve size, but bottom line.......Ill be back.....yum.
Great location and attentive service. Food was excellent, although a tad expensive, but where isnt in the UK at the moment.Calamari, Patatas Bravas, and Braised Pork were the standout for me.Only slight complaint was service was way to quick and we got swamped with food all at once.
Lovely range of tapas and drinks, we just had bread and oil and olives and sherry, but orders coming out looked good. Nice young man who served us.
Very disappointing experience here. We went on a Sunday afternoon and had to wait for a table- which was fine with us but was made to feel it was a massive inconvenience that we chose to wait. They took ages to take our orders even after flagging them down twice. The only nice member of staff was the woman with blue hair. When our order finally came, they had got the drinks and the food wrong. Food was expensive for a small portion. Slow service, wrong orders and rude staff - needless to say I wont be going back!
Booked for an anniversary dinner on sunday wasnt too pleasent place was crazy busy we waited by a toilet for 5 mins to be seated. Half of the menu items werent available due to being overly busy. We had a reservation not like we came off the street so they should have been prepared. Food very expensive for what you get.
The food was mediocre and hugely overpriced. I paid £69 for lunch for 2 people and it felt excessive for what we got. The waiting staff were slow and it took a long time to get a menu or any service although it wasn’t busy. The location is nice, and I’m sure if you’re just grabbing cocktails it’s fine. But we won’t go back.
I found it a bit expensive and the food just so-so.The place was nice and staff was super friendly! Also the weather made it worthwhile as the outside seating area was great to get some sun and that made the G&Ts taste even better.Be careful with the seagulls as they will fight for your food!
Great food and service! Location is fab - especially on a sunny evening. Service was amazing - a special mention to Rafe for brilliant customer service!
Amazing food and service I loved it! The feasting menu was great. Just a suggestion... manchego at the start not at the end
Had such an amazing afternoon/evening here.I want to give special thanks to Ralph, the blonde hair waiter who was so attentive, friendly and genuine. He was amazing as well as the French waitress (who I can’t remember the name of).We felt so welcome, the food and wine was great and in a great location on a sunny day. It was a perfect first-date place to go.
A lovely spot on the waterfront and on warm days they do takeaway drinks in plastic cups. Beer and cider is local to southville.
Went for a meal with my daughter, her partner, my granddaughter and grandson for fathers day. We had Tapas, excellent very fresh produce, great service, brilliant. A bit heavy handed with the salt but still great, highly recommend
Where do I even begin….. the food was absolutely phenomenal, every bite got better and better as the food kept coming out, I was indulged with the most fresh and flavourful dishes that I could not put my cutlery down. The views from the seating area show just how beautiful Bristol harbourside is and it is definitely a place to visit with your friends. The service was 10/10, from the get go, I was greeted by a lovely young blonde gentleman who’s name I cannot remember, who gave us a warm welcome and trusting service skills so that we were able to have an amazing dinner. All in all, this place is 100% worth the trip as you will not be disappointed.
What an incredible experience! From the moment we arrived, everything was spot on. The service was a 12/10, our waiters Hugo, Maria and Lea knew absolutely everything about the menu and provided recommendations which we took up, and didn’t regret at all! The chefs Vinny, charlie and jack were some of the best I’ve ever come across, with every dish exceeding expectations. The Calamari and Gambas was some of the best I’ve had. The ambiance of a Mediterranean setting was so cosy and comfortable. This is one of the best restaurants in Bristol and I’ll be returning soon to try the rest of their unique and exciting menu! Thank you Olive shed!
A tapas bar with wonderful, fresh food.
Best tapas in Bristol! My first visit to the Olive Shed and I’m sad I haven’t gone sooner! The tapas dishes are so tasty. Just got back from a vaca in Spain and I have to say, these tapas are better than some of the finest places I went to in Spain! The duck, grilled fennel, steak, patatas bravas & quinoa salad were my favorites! And I’m really glad they have many vegan options (including dessert)Lastly, the staff are so friendly & attentive. They made the experience outstanding!I would highly recommend the olive shed and I can’t wait to visit again!
Great place although the portions are a bit small. Amazing food quality and super kind service (especially the French girl but also another French guy and an English guy with blonde hair). We ordered: a croquette, sea bass with beetroot and crispy onion, duck with parsnip and vanilla (no drinks, just tal water). We paid £27.85.
A great location for a bar and restaurant. Quite a few tables although usually i order from the take out drinks area they have and sit by the waterfront. They do a good sangria too.
Wonderful food and lovely place to sit on a warm evening by the harbour side.Only thing that stopped full stars was the service when we went, which sadly put a downer on the overall experience. Its a shame when front of house lets down the kitchen of a place. It was very slow and basically ignored us for ages after they sat us down and before anyone bought a menu, which took about 15 minutes, then another age to order our drinks for us. Finally, both of us got a fed up with being told by two staff members they would be right with us to let us order our food. We watched them once again just forget we even existed as they continued to go off and deal with new customers and the other tables. Neither of them remembered to come back to us at all, so we sat there for over 25 minutes again waiting and starving hungry, before we gave up and just grabbed hold of a different member of staff who then took our food order.I understand the staff were busy, but the feeling of being ignored and forgotten the whole way from start to end really let it down. I should homestly rate even less stars, but the food we finally ate was delicious, so it saved it in the end. The calamari was the best Ive had in the UK so far!I look forward to trying to this place again but hope the service isnt so awful next time.
Fabulous dock side Tapas restaurant, with a busy vibe. There were 7 of us on a business meal and my heart sank a little when a table of 17 came in too. Neednt have worried the waitress (sorry forgotten your namewas fabulous. As we dithered about what & how much to order she gave us excellent advice and the meal was delicious (short rib, anchovies, pork, big olives all stood out for me). Vegetarian options were lovely too (parsnip & pulses - who knew I liked that). Its a busy, fun way to eat, the food and drink came promptly (despite being so busyand the location, whilst a little off the beaten track is lovely. Thanks for a great evening.
I visited the Olive Shed on a warm mid-March evening. I was just in Bristol for one night and dont know the city so was just wandering aimlessly. The dock area has a great vibe, with people casually hanging out and the Olive Shed is right in the middle.I was seated outside, no problem with solo me taking up space. I ordered the calamari which was amongst the best Ive had, patstas bravas which was made by someone who knows where the paprika jar is kept and a divine piece of slow cooked lamb with yougurt and pomegranate seeds.Lovely meal, great location and fabulous staff.Very highly recommended.
Booked a table for lunch with my family. Sat outside. Very busy. Ordered a selection of tapas which we shared between us. Staff were very attentive, smiling and helpful. We enjoyed ourselves and the food. Would recommend it, but best to book.
A mixed experience. The calamari were the best weve had outside Spain. The description we had for tonight was "fast & furious". Wonderful, attentive service - but the dishes arrived on top of each other, with no time to savour them - which was such a pity.Warm the bread and please serve the balsamic and olive oil at room temperature.Great service. Wonderful atmosphere.
A great evening with a group of friends. The feasting menu was extensive, tasty and good value. Very accommodating of my gluten free friends too :)
Lovely riverside restaurant. It was early Saturday evening and we managed to get a table outside. The staff were lovely but unfortunately the service was very slow. The food was taking so long we decided to cancel our order. I am not sure if they had a staff shortage. They asked if we wanted bread and olives instead, which I assumed was to apologise for not having our food. However this was on our bill at the end of the evening, we I questioned it the amount was then removed. From looking the plates seemed on the small side considering the prices. In all though, I would like to give this restaurant another go as the location and staff were all lovely, think we just got them on a busy night :)
Excellent service m. Great food. Book a table by the window for a harbour view. Tapas portions are perfect. Highly recommend the Lamb and the Patatas Bravas with Chorizo yummy.
We fancied some tapas as a pay day treat, we were not disappointed. The waiting staff were lovely and super attentive to our 3 year old son who was pretty impatient. The food was glorious, would absolutely recommend the Hake - it was a total vibe! The veggie platter was enjoyable and the fennel chips delicious. we will be recommending to our air b&b guests.
Lovely food, friendly staff and great location!
Great location .. furniture a bit basic as in no cushions, but great tapas .. did feel the meat platter at £18:95 was overpriced. However the food is good and same about the service and as they add on 12.5% .. next time Ill take that off the bill and top accordingly, but it worth a try.
Wonderful experience! We were sitting upstairs with a table overlooking the Bristol harbourside on a lovely evening and were so accommodating to our request to open up the heavy French doors so we could feel the wind and sun on our skin and have the amazing view unimpeded. Small plate tapas were really lovely too, especially the calamari, bread, potato tortilla, chorizo and patatas with aioli. The only thing we werent so keen on, was the special scallops with parsnip puree. Scallops very fresh but parsnip is too sweet a flavour with scallops, which needs something saltier, spicy or tart. A big thank you to the staff for being so friendly and good to us, despite being rushed off their feet.
A first visit to this establishment to eat anyway, and very impressed we were too. A little explanation from our very friendly waitress Corin about the portion sizes to expect etc was useful knowledge. Each of the half dozen or so tapas dishes were very tasty, my vote was for the calamari best dish. I had the steak and gambas also which was very good. All washed down with a good bottle of Rioja (red). Certainly hoping to return at some point.
The food was absolutely incredible, some of the best tapas Ive ever had including what Ive tried in Spain! Would recommend and visit again.
Great meal, everything we tasted was delicious.Prices were reasonable. Service was slowish but it was rush hour on a Saturday night.Dont skip the olive dessert 😋Just wish wine menu was better.
Delicious tapas and great view of the harbour. Also very easy to get a place - you just walk in and take a seat - no booking necessary! The staff are always really lovely too.
On a beautiful sunny evening when restaurants were filling up fast, we found ourselves St the Olive Shed, after just a 20 minute wait outside of the outside seating area, with drinks paid for and a menu to peruse we made it to our table. The staff were friendly and genuinely helpful, our daughter and her wheelchair were amply accommodated and we ordered a selection of tapas from the menu. Great food, a good variety from fried calamari and huge chips with aoli oil, a veggie platter and some houmous and we were all filled to the brim. Local ales available and other locally sourced drinks. I would visit again, especially on a warm, sunny evening while sitting outside as it was idyllic.. Watching people stroll by and the boats on the water. Give it a try, it wont disappoint! 😁
Luckily managed to squeeze into a spot on a busy Saturday evening, Ive wanted to try this place for a while so I was glad. The weather was perfect for the outdoor seating, though we sat upstairs with the windows wide open and a nice view. Quite a few vegan dishes, though there is a lot of animal products served. Tapas was medium sized, so it turned out very reasonably priced and we both left very full. Plus, the recommended wine went perfectly with my dishes.
Visited for the first time yesterday after living away from Bristol for 10 years and The Olive Shed is still one of the best al fresco dining spots in Bristol.Quality food and drinks in a relaxing but bustling spot on the quayside. The development of M Shed and Whapping Wharf has regenerated this area of the waterfront, its family friendly and perfect for an evening stroll.Set back from the water, the upstairs dining is intimate with great views, the terrace is perfect just for an aperitivo, tapas or full lunch/dinner menu.Good value for money in my opinion, tapas dishes are around £7, mains range from £15-£30. They have an excellent selection of fish.
