The Old Man - Bar in Hong Kong, Hong Kong
I don’t know why I waited this long to come to this bar for the first time. Love the cocktails and how well they were presented. Will definitely visit again very soon!
Clandestine bar that was a bit tricky to locate. But drinks were good and the staff helpful and friendly.
Their creativity & flavors knows no boundaries. Add that to their impeccable service and professionalism and its easily the best cocktail bar in Hong Kong.
My favorite bar in Hk. Drinks are reasonable, quality is Excellent and staff very attentive!! I will go out of my way to stop by and have a drink rather than go to the closest watering hole
Had some drinks here but not that super impressed as the ones at COA.
Tucked in a discreet corner on Aberdeen, you’re welcomed by some of the most experienced bartenders in Hong Kong. The service is impeccable. The drinks are outstanding. If you’re in the mood for something different, The Old Man provides a service like no other. The cocktails have a different flair — as do the bartenders. The constant experimentation and testing of different flavours have produced some of my favourite drinks which are of impeccable taste and just smell intoxicating.I highly recommend something off menu (ask your serverand enjoy the free chips along with the ambiance. Do remember to try and make a drink yourself. Enjoy.
The cocktails here are special that some of the flavors you would never see in other places.Bartenders are friendly and explain their good mix to you. Must come!
I came here with a friend on a Friday night at 5 pm. The place was just opening so we were able to get seats at the bar. The place has a lovely modern “Gatsby” vibe. The bar is hard to find because Google has you walking past the little alley this bar is tucked in. When I got to the location according to Google I had to walk back down the stairs to find it. The sign outside it subtle so it is easy to miss if you dont know the area well. The service was lovely and the drinks were delicious. The drinks are pricey but not super unreasonably for a bar like this. I will definitely be back.I tried to see if they take reservation but trying to get someone on the phone was hard.
Best cocktail bar in Hong Kong. Staff is super friendly and the atmosphere is really nice. The location is not straight forward but worth the challenge. Snacks are complimentary which is nice.
Kind of unusual small bar with high-end cocktails, on the pricey side but it is something a little different, chill vibe and nice room. Very professional approach and good service.
The most wonderful hidden cocktail bar. With unbelievable techniques and flavors.I had the peanut butter daiquiri that was a limited time offer. Unreal .Their take on the Bloody Mary is also one of a kind.
Lovely little bar with a brief but interesting cocktail list. Staff were friendly and helpful and our cocktails were delicious. Prices werent too expensive either, compared to some other bars, although The some of the cocktails were rather small (not necessarily a bad thing).
This review was long overdue. Came in and right away was well taken care of. The drinks are incredible. If you want to try a funky old fashion ask about the clear old fashion. Also I recommend the clear bloody marry, tastes amazing and it’s clear. I won’t spoil how and let them tell you but it’s really cool. Also big shout out to Mandeep who did a fantastic job of explaining the cocktails and made great recommendations! Highly recommend this place. P.s. it’s located in a little alley, don’t be shy to ask the locals if lost.
Great bar - although a little tricky to find! Warmly welcomed in as if we had been there a hundred times. Brilliant service and very innovative cocktails. Not sure what connects the drinks to Hemingway but anyway, it is brilliant. Winner take nothing is the one to try.
A must go bar in hongkong! Over the top staff always making sure their customers are well attended.
The cocktail bar has a very intimate feel to it and surely only has seating space for 25 people at most. We went late into the night and easily got a table. They have a cocktail menu which contains their specialities but they also make the traditional cocktails such as gin fizz.
Oh what a delight. Listed as Asias best bar in 2019, of course we had to stop by when we were here.We had the- In Our Time- Winner Take Nothing- Garden of Eden- For Whom The Bell TollsEach cocktail was so smartly crafted that it was a delight to try each one. I enjoyed In Our Time the least as the banana taste takes some getting used to - but overall the cocktails were amazing. The bar had a great atmosphere and excellent service. We were there on a Tuesday night, and there was still a constant flow of people coming and going - no seats were ever empty! The free flow potato chips was also delicious and our bowl was never empty, cheers to our waitress who was very attentive.(ps. They also provide free drinking water!)
Great little speakeasy style spot with amazing cocktails which have some cool features such as clarified tomato juice. Loved the very unique “A Moveable Feast” which is a play on a Bloody Mary and contains vodka infused with sea flavour. Very complex and interesting! Cocktails are $120 HKD each which is about standard for the area. The atmosphere was nice but not really the cozy kind of place I like to post up for hours (a bit too well-lit, sitting quite close to other customersbut it’s good if you want to chat with the bartender and potentially make new friends. The service was great with friendly and knowledgeable staff.Seemed like a really consistent staple cocktail bar but for some reason just didn’t hit me as a favourite even though I really wanted it to!
Totally admire their bold mixology! You should definitely visit The Old Man and appreciate the unique flavours as well as the atmosphere.
Great place. Worth the detour in our evening. Staff was super nice and accommodating. The bar was already packed when we arrived, but the staff really made is feel comfortable. I carry a around a cumbersome camera bag and the staff offered to keep it behind the bar for safe keeping. Drinks were delicious. It was pretty fun to try the different cocktails, but my favorite was the gimlet. Awesome time!
This place knows how to make a proper cocktail. We loved it so much that we went to the sister bar “The Sea” right after to try their original menu. Great service, cool atmosphere, and fantastic drinks. The bar even has a cool secret feature.... It’s a speakeasy vibe and no sign on the door so you know it’s cool. They infuse all sorts of fun things into drinks that you’d never expect. If I had one word to describe it...unique.
It was my 3rd visit to The Old Man, the #1 of Asia’s 50 best bars of 2019, and it never lets me down. It was very busy when we arrived on a Friday night, so the staff asked us to stand aside. You would imagine being left out when standing aside but the staff was surprisingly attentive and friendly. We were offered menu and water straight away, and our orders came really quickly. We were seated after 10-15 minutes and the staff carried all our drinks for us, refilled our crisps bowl before we could ask for it. The cocktails are unique and delicious as always. Will definitely visit again!
The Asia top one bar with amazing cocktails, every single cocktails have their unique taste never try before.🥂
Excellent small bar hidden in the side of the street. Service was very friendly and made us some nice drinks. The price is also fine for HK.
Asias 50 Best Bars newly crowned best bar.Its a fairly small bar that can fit seat around 25 people. Its an Ernest Hemingway inspired bar. Most of the cocktails in the menu are batched due to their heavy usage of rotovaps. So drinks come out quick and service is damn good. The team is very engaging with the guests as they have more time to focus on them. The drinks are interesting and unique. Worth going to even if just for a bit
The Old Man Bar has excellent cocktails in a handsome interior, replete with dark wood and gold accents. It’s a warm and inviting surprise after you turn into the unassuming alley (read: it can be a bit hard to findbut well worth the visit, for one-two-ok-let’s-stop-at-three cocktails
Very small bar but friendly bartenders and attentive staff. Creative cocktails. Very cool strip of metal strip running through the table to keep your drinks chill.
Minuses:It is a way too expensive for what it is.Seats are too limited and if you are in couple, you can only have a seat at an quite uncomfortable table in a corner. Sofas are reserved for groups.Pluses:Tasty cocktails (but too small).Very friendly staff.Unlimited chips.
Even though she was super busy, she was still so friendly and caring to all the customers, very patiently answering questions and interacting with everybody, as was the other bartender. Really warm, vibrant sort of place. Of course, the signature cocktails were fabulous.
Very friendly staff and a nice bar. The cocktails are very mediocre. We ordered three cocktails between us, all three (different alcohol basehave the same watery consistency and texture. Very typical Hong Kong hypetrain. Would expect much better cocktails for a place ranked this high. Value for money? Definitely not. The seating is very uncomfortable if youre even a bit over average height.
Nice bar, crowded, tasty cocktails and friendly serviceIll be there again ❤
Updated: winner of Asias best bar!The Old Man is a unique, little bar just up from PMQ in Aberdeen Street.Staff are wonderful and knowledgeable about what they are making for you to enjoy. This bar gets super busy, so it may help going a little earlier.Have to try!
Great Small Bar. Superb cocktails and ambiance. Must do while you visit Hong Kong.
Wonderful bar on Asia’s Top 50 Bars list! It’s easy to find, down al alley with a lit up sign and a doorman to shine a flashlight down the alley for you. The cocktails were creative and the staff was very friendly and engaging. The bartender invited us behind the bar to take pictures and see it up close. We had a fantastic time!
Awesome experience with creative recipes. Location is great and close to other night spots however it is little off the path. Once you find the address look for the doorman so he can guide you through bar. Probably he will notice you before you do:)Space is dim and snug, in a good way though. Has a communal table with cooler surface to keep your drinks chilled. Employees are friendly and knowledgeable about their menu and can do right recommendations for you. The Old Man is listed in Top 50 Bars in Asia it should be something right! Cheers...
-Another speakeasy in HK-One of the Top 50 Asian bars-The metal part is a cooler keeping ur drinks cool, very cool design.-My carrot drink is yum-The bar table doesnt have much privacy, very close to other guests, so quite easy to make new friends i guess
One of the classiest and extraordinarily amaizng menus I have ever seen.. its a must if you go to HK. Its hidden and discreet but a place you will never forget. The bar tender was super fun and talented!
Lovely place hidden behind an alleyway. Staff were great; bartenders awesome. Cocktails were tasty although a lil on the pricey end.
A unique and cozy bar in Hong Kong. The bar is somewhat hidden in an alley which is easily missed, but in a way it adds to its charm. Inside it is quite and tight and cozy with little wiggle room once a bit of people enter. The ambience is great, dimly lit seating areas that are nice and close together. And the drinks are great and tasty, quite unique
Excellent service and a wide range of housemade cocktails. If youre one who like fruity cocktails, From Whom The Bell Tolls is a rly good drink :)
The cocktail is good. But there is a female stuff keep interrupting the conversation with me, my girlfriends, my male friend. Keep hitting on with my guy friend even tho he showed no interests on her already. Actually kind of disturbing. But other than that, the drinks are fantastic, the atmosphere is really good. One of the best hidden bar in hk.
Go early! Pretty packed by around 8 on a Saturday, the drinks are nice and I can understand the hype, staff friendly too and the hidden entrance makes it interesting.
Went in for one drink, ended up having three. Highlight of my trip to Hong Kong. The service is incredible, the setting is intimate and drinks sublime. A drinking sensation. Recommend Sunday night as can be busier I hear on Fri/Sat. The old man is worthy of five stars plus more.
full of teenages and noisy ... due to its fancy ranking in asia top bar? $132 for a cocktail and you still need to stand. i prefer to stand outside classroom.
Place was packed but still was greeted warmly. Great attentiveness from the lady bartender who gave us great recommendations that fit our tastebuds. A wonderful place to visit even if just for one drink. Must try!
Awesome special cocktail and names all base on the book:The old man. If you come to Hong Kong, must to be there once in your trip.
Rated one of the best bars in Asia. I had high expectations of the drinks. The drinks we ordered were ok and not what I would call great or memorable. Price for the drinks are good for Hong Kong but I wouldn’t say it’s cheap like I’ve heard from others.
Very great place to have a drink. The team is very welcoming and take care of you. Barman can create the cocktails you want based on your wish and/or their inspiration.Ambiance is very cosy.Really like the spirit of the customers; friendly open to discussion.A place to know in HK
Amazing cocktails concocted by the best in the business . A speakeasy not to be missed. Up the charts with the must visit bars hk !!
Very cool. Talent from the Lobster Bar and Upper House get together to run this small cozy cocktail place. Just opened 5 days ago. I tried pisco sour and old fashion. Entrance is in small side street, easy to miss, check my pic here if it helps.
