Pizza, pasta and salads served in a modernised country pub with open fire, a patio and rural views.
Lovely local restaurant to me in shenley. The waiters were all so welcoming, friendly and helpful! Yummy Italian food, I had the lasagne which I recommend. Look forward to going back when they do the new pergola too!
Food and service are great. We do miss being able to pop in for a pint in the garden when out dog walking, but the pizzas are awesome.
Amazing view and atmosphere.Lovely staffFood is okay but the overall experience is great and worth a trip.Great Vegetarian option
Filthy looks by the waitress towards my partner are really not appreciated, 10% tip added automatically (not a groupis a cheek.Food was okay but the whole experience which was her birthday disappointed.Shame as the place and other staff members were really nice.
Always welcoming and well looked after. ALL the staff are amazing and so customer service based. Excellent food. Extremely well run
Came here kids for lunch and were very happy with everything. Super attentive and friendly staff. Food was great, good portion sizes, fresh and tasty. Would recommend
Amazing pizzas, lovely pastas, great tiramisu, the wine selection is fantastic, the ambience is second to none and now we cant wait to visit during summer to take in the breathtaking landscape whilst dining outside!
Was a regular until May but changed after Management were very rude and unprofessional so i will not be returning and haven’t. The owner stopped me in the middle of the street a month later accusing me of saying things I did not do, twice he stopped me. I did not appreciate this kind of confrontation. He should be addressing any bad reviews here, not in the middle of the street! The sheer arrogance of it all left a bitter taste in my mouth. Who does he think he is talking to me like that!!!!
Avoid empty plenty available bookings on open table power crazy little man wants to cram you into tables nxt to the only other customers in an empty dining hall, had problems with this person before. So our family and friends wont be returning we spend over £100 a week here amongst us, just pure greed, Such a shame food is good albeit ariives in dribs and drabs which is not good for a family seems to be only on a sunday.
Absolutely fantastic, the pizzas we all ordered were freshly made.Great service - fantastic location.Id say with one of the best views a restaurant/pub can have.Definitely will be returning.Top spot for the summertime....Cocktails and beers 👍🏼
What a special place!! A little gem !! Beautiful vista , fantastic pizza . Toby our waiter, his first service!! was an absolute delight, very engaging and attentive. Have already recommended to many of my friends and family . Will definitely be returning very soon .
Great dinner place, the outdoor seating was expansive and modern looking, nice view too.Staff were very pleasant, were able to accommodate a last minute birthday candle request.Portion sizes were very good, and definitely felt freshly prepared.Would recommend for occasions.
Lovely quiet and beautiful place with great outdoor seating and views, food was delicious! Service great! Would definitely recommend this restaurant.
Amazing pizza and my mum enjoyed her chocolate cake. The staff werent overly friendly but the views and food outweighs this so I will be back again
If you are gluten free there are hardly any options for you, besides a pizza and salad which is pretty disappointing in this day and age. However if youre lucky enough to be able to eat what ever you like then there is plenty of choice! Its always a busy and popular pub for lunch.
The view from the garden is lovely, and worth getting to. Seems like a good place especially when the weather is nice. There is enough space for parking nearby. Food was very nice. Good place to bring kids, too. Consistently good quality and good value.
A Wednesday night, 6pm booking and a series of unfortunate events. Food was just ok - 3 x pizzas and a salad. Service was terrible. We understand inexperienced staff in the current climate, but the rude attitude was quite shocking. There seemed to be more customers than the team had any hope of managing. Hopefully just the whole team having a bad night.
Nice food and a lovely tranquil place, especially the outside space. Food was quick to the table and we didnt have to wait long. Id advise on booking though as we didnt, but turned up at the right time to get a table beforehand.
Lovely meal and a tranquil setting which was perfect and relaxing. I have to say there were no disabled parking spaces though, but they do have a ramp to get down to the lower part of the outside seating. If you have a wheelchair youd have to go n first and get them to open he side gate as I didnt see any other way to get in but not sire of access for a wheelchair user as it wasnt obvious on arrival. Maybe the restaurant can reply if Ive made a mistake on this. Saying this, we did enjoy our meal and will be back.
Food was good and service from table staff was good.Unfortunately, the shockingly appalling attitude from the manageress made this impossible to score this review any higher. We were a table of 15 and our table waiter did a fantastic job. Food took a while to come out (as expected for a group that largebut everybodys order was spot on. If Im being harsh, service might be considered a bit slow but again it was very busy and each time our orders were taken with a smile and friendly greeting.Heres where it all started to go wrong. As we were here as part of a wake, people on the table were leaving at separate times. There was originally no issue with these people going up to the bar and settling their section of the bill. When it came to the final 6-7 people to pay, the manageress then intervened and refused to let anyone come to the bar to settle their section of the bill and was adamant that this couldnt be done and was in fact not what had been agreed - despite the fact it hadnt even been discussed. Not only this, but she also proceeded to publicly berate the member of staff that had been taking the payments which came across as highly unprofessional and ultimately quite embarrassing. After a lot of back and forth, I was allowed to pay at the bar - settling a further 3/15 of the bill. After this, she was insistent on charging over to the table and quite literally, demanding the remainder of the bill from all the others remaining. This was done in a highly rude and albeit offensive manner. The final person was in the toilet at this point which further angered the manageress who insisted on the following.1. Someone else settle that part of the bill for them2. Someone phone them to find out where they are3. Someone go into the toilet to retrieve them there and then.Quite obviously all of these were refused and she was asked to wait. But alas, this didnt happen. She then decided to go on a personal mission to find the last person, charging into the toilets with the card machine, commenting on how they had been in the toilet for such a long time (who does that?!And finally just shoving the card machine under their nose.Throughout this all we also had a gentleman sitting on the bench behind us quite happily proclaiming to other staff that "he has been sitting here the whole time because he just knew we were trouble". We had quite literally stuck to our tables and not caused a single issue. But obviously this warranted us being treated like we were some kind of shady bad apples who were out to somehow screw over their fine establishment. On a day where you can only hope that things go as well as they possibly can, this really did put a huge downer on the day.My advice is that large groups or anyone who wants to actually be treated like a human being stay away - which is unfortunate as their day to day staff were a pleasure to deal with.
Enjoyable meal, decent service, stunning location. Not a lot of parking if the indoor and outdoor spaces were at full capacity. Overall a good experience and worth the visit!
Fab service, lovely food, beauutiful terrace and great viewsWill definitely be back
Tasty food, nice setting. The staff is friendly and looked after our needs. The only drawback I have is that I find the prices a bit too expensive for the quality of some items. The dishes are not bad by any means just a tad overpriced in my opinion.
Thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast in well manicured surroundings, with a great view over the fields and served by professional and friendly staff. The only suggestions I would make would be maybe put some wasp traps out because it was a bit waspy there, and possibly put seat pads on the chairs. Other than that, it was great.
Food was excellent and very moorish. Portions were generous. Delightful evening out.Only one thing is when you book an outside table you want one not be told they have put you inside. After a few mins this got sorted and we were grateful.
I’ve been to this place a few times and was unsatisfied every time. I’m not a person to get easily angry or frustrated or even upset; however this place ticked all those boxes. The restaurant is just too cramped and small for the amount of chairs and tables inside. You cannot hear even your own voice. The staff are not polite. They don’t know how to talk to customers. The food however is not bad. Pasta is good. In addition the atmosphere is just not for me. If you want a nice, relaxed, quiet meal, do NOT go here. It’s too loud and cramped and you will be lucky if you can even see the view. Plus, completely overpriced.
Amazing every single time we have been. Mighty pizzas, great starters, drinks and service. No need to book for mid week lunches but you will have to for evenings and weekends.
We had a lovely meal here for a friends birthday , the new outdoor area is fabulous however it was a little chilly so we asked if we could move inside with no problem.I had the pizza which was just how I like it thin and crispy with just the right amount of toppings. I also had the hot drink with mini dessert - the carrot cake was delicious.Lovely atmosphere and great customer service. Can’t wait to come back again
This is a high 4.The outdoor seating area is directly by open fields. It has astro turf - not to my taste - rather than paving stones. The quatro formaggi was suitably rich, and the only criticism of the lamb ragu is that a slightly larger serving would have been better. The tiramisu was fair rather than great, and the banoffee pie was good. The waiters on the evening were pleasant. This is definitely a place to which we will return.
Booked a table for 7 for my daughters birthday meal. All went through and was booked she was so exited. Then the day before they called and cancelled the table with no explanation apart from the group number is too big. I said we could do smaller but they said they were fully booked.YOUR BOOKING MEANS NOTHING TO THEM
This idyllic countryside location is nothing short of being a hidden national treasure as well as a "Beauty Spot". It was so difficult to resist giving it 5* as normally I would. To be fair to the public and to be true to myself. Actually getting there is at first like finding a needle in a haystack.Once you can overcome that, it will become a very special place for you to enjoy good memories. The owner and staff are very friendly and very accommodating to all the needs of their customers. I will be returning time and time again 👍🤠
Warm welcoming Inn. Fantastic fish and chips sitting outside where we could keep an eye on the car. It will be a regular return for us now.
took a random pub on the map that was within 10mins from my house, didnt know anything about it. what a surprise ended up going back the next day for an evening meal, which was fantastic, staff fabulous, the pub is spotless, the garden is also amazing. Ill be a frequent visitor from now onwards.
Loved the whole experience. Its a huge restaurant with many tables so availability is rarely an issue. Views are spectacular so is the food and service. Plenty of choices for vegetarians and vegans too.
Fantastic authentic Italian food. Lovely view and great service. Will be back again soon.
Hidden gem just outside London. Staff is very accommodating and polite and welcoming. Food is very tasty. Lovely view from the outside terrace. Decent parking. We have become regulars. Keep up the good work, well done to the owner and the staff. If I was the owner I would invest in a convertible awning and outdoor fireplace to make the restaurant a year round attraction and stabilise revenue across the 4 seasons. Cant fault this place at all. Deserves a lot more custom.
My family and I visited here recently but were disappointed. The pub is nice, clean and the outdoor seating area has a great view. Unfortunately they are the only positives, as the meal wasn’t very good.Although the food looks nice, it’s massively lacking in flavour! I had a pizza which was very wet and bland. The rest of the food on our table was lacking in seasoning too.The staff are generally friendly and i’m sure they mean well, seem very inexperienced and forgetful. We had to chase some of our order which didn’t arrive straight away. All in all, not a good experience and we won’t be visiting again anytime soon.
The most beautiful location for a restaurant. They have excellent Italian food - both authentic and high quality, with lots of choice for both vegetarians and vegans. Best sticky toffee pudding!! The staff are brilliant - friently, professional and attentive. Really recommend this restaurant.
Lovely dining experience, good food and fantastic service 👌 wonderful setting 😀
We visited this pub today for lunch.Beautiful sunny day sat outside the staff were very friendly and attentive, especially our waitress Lilly. My husband and I had a pizza was ok but we ended up having a very bad stomach and kept running to the toilet. Our friends had the lamb kofta and the breed chicken and pasta was ok.I dont know what happened when the pizza 😕. Shame as I did like this place.
Busy, lovely atmosphere great for families and couples. Could imagine ij the summer being wonderful to dine outside. Pizza is delicious.
Amazing food and amazing staff. Highly recommended and lovely atmosphere
The best thing about this place is the view and the chips. With that said, you won’t always have a window seat with a view, especially at weekends when this place is cramped and noisy. The soup is watery. Bruschetta or homemade breadsticks are not crunchy as commonly seen but just small ciabattas and cut-up ciabattas with burned spots here and there. The pizza is only crispy around the edge and soggy in the base, even when we ordered the crispy version. Definitely not authentic Italian. Worse than Prezzo.
Took my daughter and three friends to celebrate her 13th birthday. Staff were amazing and the food was great. Good value for money. Highly recommended.
Best Italian Ive been to in the UK. Food was really exceptional tasty hot and plentiful, we really couldnt fault it. Happy to be served by a happy helpful Anna was so refreshing, she was very efficient. I thoroughly recommend this place for food, staff, atmosphere and a nicely decorated and very clean place. I bet its lovely in the garden on a sunny day too. We wished we lived nearer. Glad we booked as it soon filled up within 15 minutes of us arriving.
Popped in after gym for a quick lunch. Was so worth it. My pizza was so tasty, my boyfriend’s meatball lasagne was superb. Staff friendly, attention to detail. Beautiful little spot. Will be back.
Lovely food, friendly staff and a beautiful view from the garden. A real hidden gem off the beaten track. Well worth making a trip for.
This is my favourite place to eat in Hertfordshire. All the food is excellent, but I almost always have the pizza. They have a great selection of vegan and vegetarian food and their gluten free pizza bases are just as good as the regular ones. The garden has a beautiful view over the fields and you can easily spend an entire summer afternoon relaxing here. Booking is recommended on weekends and special occasions.
Delicious food and a beautiful atmosphere. The restaurant has a nice open layout with lush green views and plenty of natural light. The service was fast and polite, easy to talk to and friendly. The food itself was brilliant, with good portion sizes and great taste. The pricing was very fair for the quality.
Stopped here with a mate for spot of dinner yesterday having heard good things and we were not disappointed! The service was friendly. The compact venue has a modern finish and manages to feel airy, its filled with natural light. The large garden behind the venue (so off the quite roadhas a fantastic panoramic view across the fields. Our food came quickly once ordered and was delicious, my friend, of Italian decent, and was looking forward to being picking but like myself was truly impressed. As for price, well you cant complain about that either, food is exceptionally good value, and the beer, given the location inside the M25 and the local area, we were expecting to pay more. All round thoroughly enjoyable, and well be back.
