Dog-friendly public house in a historic setting with pints, coffee, pool tables & a beer garden.
Great open mic and amazing fire baked pizza!
Great, no pool table though. Hopefully in the future music can be played through a speaker to people outside too as theyre so far away you cant hear it. If customers eating the artists they wont want to move despite wanting to see the performers play.
Good pub, good pizza
One of the reasons i came to bristol when it was dogs on a string place
Splendid tavern, with queues, noise and rowdy customers. A true English experience. Having the gents toilet right next to the stage is a brilliant idea - the live music drowns out all undesirable sounds from troubled rectums.
Nice wine and beer, lovely staff, great place
Crackin, all sides of Bristol meeting in one place, good beer, lovely service, well worth a visit if ya in the market fora pint or a pizza!!! 25/69 rasta badges
Lovely aromas pouring off the terrace, good beer and a bit of late sun. Perfect
Laid back pub with Live music. Always worth dropping by for a pint or two
Very nice and clean food noicee and hot
Nice pint nice garden ok pub π
Incredibly rude bartender and place hasnt been cleaned in a long time.
Proper pub. Friendly staff, good beer, will be back.
This is a place where I drank cans with my ex and it was a strange but canning experience
Excellent pizza, friendly service, good vibes
DEFINITELY a spot not to be missed out on friendly spot to have a drink with a mixture of students and locals a grate outdoors smoking area for anyone like me who likes to smoke a roll up as I drink a pint..
Lovely place , relaxed and chilled staff and clientele. Lovely stone baked pizza.
Great garden, banging pizza, always friendly.
Large outdoor seating area. Good choice of beers. Very professional bar staff.
Great garden pub π» and pizzas π from the guys next door are superb ππ½οΈI give them only 3 stars because the male toilets could be in a more descent state π. No wheelchair friendly btw.
Great pub that has been serving customers for many well worth a visit
Busy and vibrant as usual....looking forward to go back to the normal life......
Busy and vibrant as usual......looking forward to going back to normal life ....
Fave pub, nice staff, lush outdoor seating
Great, proper pub. Real nice pizza there too!
Bristol pub with an ironic neighbour, brilliant garden tucked away. Some of the benches feel like theyre almost fossils but obviously made well, as theyre still standing. Its a bit of me, rustic well kept, and odd in all the right ways.
Have been here many times and loved the music events I have been to in the past, however feel really upset at interactions with staff I have had here, had a male staff member be really rude to my sister while she was ordering a drink. At the start of restrictions I donated to a crowdfunder to help keep it around for post covid, as it is my local pub. However tried tonight to go and had another upsetting encounter with a staff member after being ignored and then accused of breaking rules which were really unclear when me and a friend were attempting to follow rules! I really want to like it here but I always end up feeling unwelcome, I get that it must be such a stressful time for hospitality workers but I feel quite upset and put off ever going there again
Great atmosphere, loved it for a couple pints on a weekday evening!
Awesome pub up untill about a week ago when new restrictions have been implemented
Its a great pub for gigs, as they have a top quality PA there. Ive seen many styles of bands and theyve all sounded great! The choice of drinks is the usual stuff, with nothing too fancy. Theres also a beer garden accessible from the room upstairs.
A staple of the famous Bristol Live music scene... the heavier end! Live Music, Pool, Big outdoor space, hidden away like a back street live muic venue Should be!
The staff were really nice and the music there is really great. Lovely atmosphere - the drinks are pricey, but thats Bristol -Definitely worth a pop along there. The pub cat is very friendly and the fire pit outside is a really nice touch
Im sure Ive reviewed this place before. Its great. Right next door to a GP surgery so perfect if youre feeling a bit over-awed or have a dicky ticker. Brilliant for live music. If I had to criticise, and I dont like to - the beer selection is average
Cheap, great beer and a lovely pub with cotch function room, skittle alley and pleasant beer garden.
Off beer, grotty decor, ear splittingly loud thrash punk music, disinterested bar staff wearing ear plugs. There is a good pool table up stairs!!
Wicked old school pub, prefer it in the week when they dont have live music on. Pool table and beer garden, nice and relaxed.
Fantastic live venue. Brilliant sound engineer, cant recommend this place enough.
First time at the old England last night and Im very happy to have finally find a hidden gem of Bristol! Went to see Football FC and a couple other acts and was blown away by not only the talent but also the stage set up and cosy smoking den outside. Drink prices middle ground, spending Β£4 for a fosters or theyve got ales for Β£3.60. And when the night came to a close I thought Id left my camera bag in the closed off smoking area, which the staff were very quick and friendly in assisting me having a look. Turns out I left it in another room... Appreciate the patience when dealing with ejits like myself, good stuff π€
Sitting in this place as I write. Its very quiet, a sunny afternoon and a mop being passed over the floor. I rather like that unhurried pace. Can also be heaving, especially when live music is on, which is pretty regular. Bit of a local asset. Proper city pub; unpretentious, friendly, local. Log fire on cold days and a garden when the sun is out. No food--- but it doesnt pretend to be a restaurant!
The bartender that served us was basically a bully. I dont know what his problem was, maybe he got up on the wrong side of the bed that day, but the fact that somebody like that was hired and allowed to serve people says something about the management of this place. When we ordered our drinks it was loud and my girlfriend has a quote voice, which made it difficult to talk to the bartender. This is common and usually bartenders will signal to speak up. The way this guy reacted, by shouting at her in the rudest tone, looking angry like shed done something wrong, was totally inappropriate. Not the end of the world but already not a good start. When its time to pay, he pulls out the card reader but the screen is broken so I cant see how much the total is. I point this out and he demands that I just pay. Instead of explaining the issue, he simply tells me that "its about 10 quid" and holds the card reader closer to me, looking annoyed. Apparently I should just trust him. After I acquiescently pay, because of how pushy he was, he pulls the pints and leaves them there. Doesnt say thank you or anything. Just walks away, looking annoyed at us like weve done something wrong, again. We quickly drank our pints outside (it smelled like a toilet insideand left.
Notorious Bristol pub....not for everyone one but defo has its own atmosphere...gets busy at the weekend...give it a Go!!
Great vibes here.. Tucked away in Montpellier.. Beer garden is fab during the summer months.. Pool π± tables and good mix of beverages available ππππ
Beer is fine but a limited selection it needs some local craft ales. It a decent music venue that hosts some creative smaller bands but the room is a bit small and you cant see the bands from the back.
Nice enough pub and good garden, but limited drinks available.
Friendly staff, great atmosphere and loads of great bands. Scores a minus point because the gents toilet is right next to the stage so its basically impossible to go for a piss when the band is on
Nice pub, good venue.
Had a great time but outdoor tables so rough and uneven put drink down and it poured all over me was soaked and lost half pint!
Nice bar just off Cheltenham Road which offers a good atmosphere, unique music and has a pool table. Open later than other places nearby that offers a pub setting.
Not a bad pub. Quite friendly. Good for live music
Excellent gig space, decent selection of beer, if youre looking for something a bit out of the standard come here... Tbh man did need a poo and there aint to proper toilet tho... Would still recommend
