Pub with exposed brick walls, American bar food and a lounge with Chesterfield sofas and fireplace.
I usually go to the vegan meetups in this pub (every first Wednesday of the monthand have always had a great time there. The venue has three floors with a bar on the bottom and top floor and a karaoke room on the 2nd floor (update: they have started to do karaoke on the top floor instead). They have some vegan food on the menu (e.g. vegan burgers for £7 and vegan pizza for £10+and offer food and drink specials for people who take part in the vegan meetup. Besides the specials, prices are average for central London. Staff as well as guests are usually very nice, its always a great atmosphere with positive vibes. I highly recommend this pub! 😃👍
Hired the upstairs karaoke room for a private event and it was brilliant! Special mention to Mitch the bartender who was great at his job and also made our night so fun!
Great place to eat for Vegans and non vegans alike, the service was brilliant and the Guinness there is spot on
Nice selection of beers and friendly staff
Absolut Joke, 3 Barkeepers, all bored, didnt even greet us when we entered, unfriendly and charged us with 15£ for two Guiness, never again...
Standard pub as far as pubs go, but what makes this place special is the grumpiest, rudest barman in London. From afar, with no punters at the bar, hes all smiles and laughs - but the minute one approaches he puts on the most sullen face and barks at you for not ordering in the right way. Poor guy, I think hes in the wrong profession. His surly attitude definitely prevents this from becoming a regular.
Very quaint little British pub.
Its an alright pub and crowd- But the staff are terrible!Firstly, the 2 aggressive, arrogant & idiotic doormen let all my work colleagues in and then refused me entry because I was apparently "drunk". When I explained that Im T-Total and have never had alcohol in my life they changed their story to accuse me of being on drugs. Once again, I explained that I had never taken drugs in my life. After 5 minutes of embarrassment, they let me in.........Secondly the bald, bearded gentleman that works there was extremely rude to our group and made us feel very unwelcome. We will not be returning.
Such a nice place for musician, it is quite and people are nice around there. I definitely recommend this place.
Great DJ and people the night I was there and open til 3am! Light pour on the drinks.
Had the pie mash an licour it was very nice. Busy place but not surprising as its on the corner of a very busy part of covent garden
Check out the karaoke on the upper floor ! Beer service food great 😊
Beware of bar staff that for some reason give you half measures?!
great place for a vegan stop off. reasonable prices too
We came for after work drinks - never have I experienced more rude and ignorant bar staff. They were more interested in chatting on the phone than serve their warm overpriced wine.
Nice enough pub but the glasses were not very clean (dishwasher repair maybe), the water tasted vile and no one drank it.Very pricey but that’s central London all over.Interesting karaoke room on the first floor enough for a small group of upto 15.2nd floor reserved usually for comedy and open mic night but is very basic.
Disgusting staff who verbally abused us outside the premises, would not recommend - security guards especially who shouted and insulted us in the streets shoot leaving (despite no confrontation).
Good for after hours drinks as open till 3 Sat
Very happy with this place. Top of the notch service, amazing wine. Lovely place with authentic Victorian style.
Way too noisy with sound bouncing around even without the pub being full. But got a table and seated plus served quickly, so not too bad.
Great location near British museum. Fun crowd in a classic setting. Wifi is good
Omg the vegan food here is amazing. Cant believe how well priced and tasty everything on the menu was. Thank you!
Vegan spankin amazing. Great food, lots of drink options including alcolol free, and obvs just the loveliest peeps incl FGVeeeeeee 🥰
Great place with a fantastic ambiance for some afternoon drinks! I recommend this place for everyone who likes a beer and a (veganburger!
I had a lot of fun here but its pretty dangerous on the stairs, the food isnt great and it is expensive. 3 stars for great staff though, cleanliness and vegetarianism. Free karaoke comes close to adding an extra star but my voice just went so it aint getting it. I will definitely come back but I have to be honest.
Of the roughly 20 people there during my visit Id estimate none of them really wanted a DJ in the lower bar area. Ambient background music would have done much better around the downstairs bar, especially as proper night clubs are do close and do that job to a better standard.
What a surprise - went for vegan food, in addition found a great pub environment with good cocktails and super helpful new staff member. Ace!
I had a good time at this venue. The venue is quirky and unique. They offered £5 cocktails which were tasty! The staff were friendly and really made an effort to connect with you which is very uncommon in London!1 star off for absence of £2/£3 beers which I can find at Wetherspoons.
This place is an absolute dream for vegans! I was almost overwhelmed by the menu, and frankly Id order one of everything if I could possibly eat that much. Beyond the food, the prices are more than fair and the staff is super friendly. Lastly, its a beautiful and cozy establishment. I have been to many nice pubs in my time, but this has to be my favourite.
Lucea was an excellent host, I had a great time last night! Excellent location, great atmosphere, and delightful food.
Dope dj last Saturday, we knew we wouldnt get into a club at the time we were looking si just thought to pop into the Old Crown for drinks but was confronted by some great classics and we had a good boogie and the DJ did birthday shout outs which i hadnt heard DJs do in like 10years hahaWe had a great time. Even the bouncer who threw me out for trying to re-enter was nice enough.
Worst pub I have been in in London. Service sucks. Very slow, unqualified staff that doesnt know what it means to serve in a pub. Unfriendly. Just awfull. Dont go there.
Loved it here. We went in on a Friday night and the atmosphere was brilliant. The DJ was awesome, the bar staff looked like they were having fun and the whole vibe was fantastic. The drinks were decent too. We couldve stayed here dancing until 6am... Unfortunately it closed at 3am. My fiancée told the DJ that wed just got engaged and he gave us a shout out, then as we left he congratulated us and the whole bar applauded :-Such a great bar, I definitely recommend checking it out.
Lovely bar staff and the door guy helped us with a drunken person situation! Dj was a tad too much, kept talking over every single song but i’d suggest for a drink or two!
Amazing staff, amazing venue, amazing party!! Strongly reccomended for after work drinks or just for the sake of enjoy with friends, anytime!! :)
Booked out the karaoke room upstairs which is a great venue if youre getting a group of friends together. Great song selection and the staff were all really helpful throughout the night.
Went to watch football. Although not serving food, the bar staff had arranged to call the pizza House opposite for a click and collect service. In the meantime and throughout, the staff were attentive and polite. Always on hand to serve you at your table. Highly recommend.
my friend booked the a few tables to celebrate his birthday. we all have a nice time and the staff were very friendly.I also liked the white wine selection (3 white from new world (New Zealand Chile and Australiato order by glass), the red was not very appealing to me.
A great place if you want a quick bite to eat. Its not a massive pub, but the service is very efficient and the meal I ordered was faultless. I went for the classic fish and chips and it didnt disappoint one bit. Id recommend this place to others!
Bar staff friendly and welcoming. Bar service was efficient. Beer selection just normal. Not many customers and those that were there were tourists. It’s a good location near to the British Museum without being too close. A few of the other pubs were busier but also louder. The crown was quieter and had a early noughties playlist going on. Wasn’t busy so bar staff mostly sat and chatted until someone needed something. Probably more lively / busy later on. Overall a fine place to pop in after the museum.
Super fun vibe, always filled with young people and generally good prices for drinks. Selection isn’t huge for beer but their wine menu is size-able. At night they have a DJ to lighten the mood and everyone I’ve taken here has had a great time!
Pub itself great olde worldy. If your a tourist wanting to see a traditional British pub this is the one. Bit get the organic larger the Taddy Larger is pretty tasteless. Staff change frequently so hard to rate service. Big outdoor area. Good for beers. Traditional boozer ! .
Tint little bar with a great atmosphereDrink prices are reasonable. There is a private room for hire to small groups which features karaoke or sports.Like this place, but not my top selection.
Great bar! Fantastic for parties they have 2 rooms that you can reserve, the one on the second floor has its own bar! Nice deco and good cocktails. Very nice ambiance and music, ideal to hangout with friends on Friday night. They also have a selection of beers and wine
Popped in for a random drink after work, ended up staying until 2am! Cheap drinks, nice bar snacks, great music when the DJ starts. Staff are fantastic. Gets a bit student-ey after midnight, but still loads of fun.
Second time this week. Love the place. Great service from a really welcoming crew behind the bar. They obviously look after the beers and the food was good. Looking forward to their new menu which I will put to the test when I am back in London in a a few weeks time. Great atmosphere in which to meet up with friends.
Went to Old Crown last Friday 11th March with my wife. We had a fantastic time there. Even though it was a busy Friday but we were served very quickly.I ordered my favorite OC burger and my wife ordered Bull Dog. Ordered for a couple of glasses of wine too. The food was fabulous. Cant expect more than that. All the staffs members were very friendly and made us feel welcome. We really had a great time and I would recommend this to everyone. We would come again.
Really enjoyed my experience here! The staff were amazingly friendly, and the food was equally great. In fact I would go as far as saying my Pulled Pork burger was the best Id eaten! My partner in crime also loved his Hell Hound Posh Dog! The sides were great and the beer was the perfect temperature for this hot weather.
Do NOT go here...I had read the reviews of the Old Crown House and decided that the poor service comments were one-offs or disgruntled customers and that it couldnt be that bad. I was very sorely mistaken. I made a reservation yesterday which apparently was not recorded and not honored at the pub. That happens from time to time and usually not an issue. However, here we tried to clarify with the bar staff and they were so incompetent and incoherent that they could not, or would not, engage us in a discussion to sort out a table (which shouldnt have been a problem as there were ones available). In addition, they were uncomfortably aggressive towards us trying to find an alternative table, which ended in us being called liars and being refused to be served. The management would not engage with us meaningfully/constructively even trying to understand their issue and we were not served thereafter. I am a professional in my work life and have never come across such (iincompetence, (iirudeness and (iiiutter lack of integrity by an establishment. I am a person of color and I left wondering if there was more to the episode as it was nearly otherwise inexplicable. If you have money to spend in London, please do enjoy yourself and your evening at another establishment. There are too many wonderful and enjoyable places in London than to waste time here.
This is such a great pub! Its not particularly big but somehow every time Ive been I find somewhere to sit or at least to be comfortable. There is great space to use privately upstairs and I have recently had a film screening in the upstairs gallery room. The decor is interesting, cool, but comfortable making you feel at home. The bar staff will make any cocktail you want and are always up for a chitty-chat - awesome place.
