Real ales on tap in grand Victorian street-corner boozer with high-ceilinged bar and oak panelling.
Nice old fashioned pub but with a good vibe . Great choice of beers 👍
Great boozer, with great staff, 100% recommend
Great pub, lovely food and service was very good. Made to feel very welcome, booked again looking forward to it.
Very nice Public House is a bit off the beaten track but worth a Visit, friendly staff excellent choice of Beers and Spirits
Great pub and nice selection of ales. Can be a little pricey but dont let that deter you too much
Good food, good beer, good service.....just deafeningly noisy in the restaurant where our booked table was. So noisy that we couldnt hear oneanother across our table.Spoilt what would otherwise have been pleasurable experience.
Great old pub, serving good food and a range of ales.
Great looking pub and the staff were friendly and efficient. The prices are very high though.
Hadnt been there for a number of years and the plan was to dine there as they used to be famous for the sausages they served but it was tired and in need of renovation with no menu to be seen, wouldnt have eaten there if there was, so went somewhere else
Brilliant pint of lager and lime before jumping on train home.Nice atmosphere in pub and friendly staff .Will revisit next time in that area
Went for lunch in a large group. Service was varied. Some tried their best for missed orders and be rent food. Good atmosphere but needed to improve food and overall service.
Good range of beers but yet again loos are steep upstairs
Great old boozer I have used for many years however it is always cold in there with the doors being open all the time, hence the 3 stars.
Great pub, lovely beer and food
Great pub, with great atmosphere. Surprised how many families were eating and enjoying the decor.
Good staff, nice atmosphere. Perfectly poured pint from Danielle
Great pub. Served by Sarah, absolutely amazing service and made to feel really welcome
Great old pub with excellent range of ales available. Good offerings of craft ales and lagers too.Didn’t have a full meal, just the bar snacks, but they were delicious (love the halloumi fries!)
Nice pub, but the food we had was terrible after waiting 25 minutes it came cold, my husband had burger and chips,I had macaroni that looked and tasted like it was cooked last week, my husband had a work with the chef he blamed it on the management
Paid a visit to this very well kept, neat and characterful Edwardian era pub, after reading reviews on it.Really enjoyed the period architecture, fittings and historical theme remembering veterans of the First World War ( hence its name ); all tastefully and sympathetically done, with a relaxed, cosy atmosphere. While there, enjoyed a really well prepared and tasty serving of their Nortons ale battered haddock and chips, along with a signature Nortons gin and tonic. All well presented by friendly staff and good value for money, as a pub dinner. The rest of their menu looks equally interesting and Id definitely visit again when passing. Can definitely recommend. Well done 👍to the team on duty there and hope to revisit soon 😀.
Nice pub with vegetarian food options
Only went here for a quick drink so not much I can say about this place. That said staff were very friendly with good service. There was outdoor seating just outside the front of the pub which was lovely given it was a really warm evening.
City centre pub (Nicholsons pub chainone of the better UK chains.Good selection of beers and a cosy historic interior with wall ephemera relating to a notable 1st World war veteran who ran the pub with wall murals depicting "Tommy" ect
Only popped in for a pint. Nice atmosphere. Proper Old Pub feel to it. Doesnt feel like a city pub.
I attended a social event here with a friend this past Wednesday. The decor of the place is elegant and traditional, adding a nice air to the place. The ability to drink in and outside allows for a good flow of mingling, especially useful in the warmer weather. If you’re in Birmingham I recommend giving this place a look.
The O. Cs is a Birmingham institution, located on the corner of Livery Street facing Snow Hill, the O.Cs offers fantastic food with a large selection of beers in a Victorian setting. Its 2 minutes from the pigeon park so pop in if you are in town.
Not been for a year shame no sharers on but had 3 for £14 very nice also had ghost ship on whats a good pint. Lorna looked after us very well hopefully be back soon
Old-style pub on the street. Great to spill onto the pavement during fine weather. Its only problem is that it isnt open late enough.
This is as proper traditional pub as you can get and a great advert for the city. Nice history as well when I asked one of the staff who kindly took the time to explain a few things. For us it’s regular stop off every time we go into Birmingham. Super friendly staff and always good atmosphere. Did I also mention the great selection of beers and spirits on offer too 👍
Excellent 10 out of 10. Food, staff all good. We would go again.
An old favourite of mine when I visit the city. Good selection of beers and always a good atmosphere.Nice to have the option to sit outside when it is sunny.
Fantastic looking establishment and great selection of ales and beer right in the heart of Brum or near enough the middle anyway!Staff also pretty friendly, but my goodness the look of the place! Great if you want a pub with a big open old timey vibe!
The bar staff was really friendly and helpful. Lovely atmosphere relaxing and comfortable. Friendly people which all helps to make the place nice to visit.
Fantastic old school pub with a twist of modern. Great selection of well kept beers and other drinks. Nice food. Well worth a visit
We went for an early evening meal on a Friday night. Although the bar was busy, we managed to find a table to eat easily.Staff were very friendly, quick service and good quality food.
We visited this pub on several occasions last week. Great place with a fantastic atmosphere. A proper old fashioned feel, good selection of beers and ciders with a decent menu. Definitely recommend a visit.
Great atmosphere. Enjoyed the food. First visit here, happy to repeat in future.
Great atmosphere. Went on a Friday night and somehow theyve managed to pull off the trick of having a very busy half and a more spacious half. Very clever. And even though they were busy I got served within a couple of minutes each time. And parking right outside after 7.30 was free! Excellent place to meet up with friends - next time Ill try the food. Highly recommended!
Spent an afternoon and evening here on Saturday to watch the 6 Nations rugby 🏉 final day of matches - Super Saturday together as a family during a weekend in Birmingham. Fantastic welcoming staff team that served drinks & food to the table for us & went out of their way to ensure we had a great time watching the rugby together. Good food & good selection of ales. Highly recommended.
Totally recommend this pub! Went there for lunch and the food was wonderful and so much of it! Atmosphere lovely and staff really nice.. Will definitely go again when in Birmingham 😃
The food was excellent, friendly staff and a fantastic old building with a brilliant background story. Well worth a visit if youre ever in Birmingham
I love this pub. Very friendly and inviting with a wide variety of choice. The food is fabulous and definitely value for money. We have been here on many occasions and will continue to frequent it when we in town.Highly recommended.
Traditional pub located next to snow hill train station. Had 1 pint craft keg and 2 halves real ale when I visited. Decent beer selection maybe 8 or so real ales and the usual keg beers and 1 or 2 craft beers on tap. The 2 real ales which I had were both ok but served too warm for me. The purity session ipa was perfectly fine. The prices were very expensive in comparison to pubs within the local area. In future I will drink at alternatives and walk 5 minutes rather than here. All in all an OK pub, other than the price nothing was particularly good or bad.
Called into this pub for a bite to eat with my friend whilst out in Birmingham. From outside we weren’t sure what to expect, but wow loved the way the inside looks. It’s fabulously dressed with hops and old wood. Really creates a great atmosphere. We both ordered food and few glasses of wine later, we had a fabulous afternoon here. Compliments to the kitchen on my food, I think it’s the best chicken salad I’ve ever eaten out. Looked like a high end restaurant meal. Just wow! We shall most definitely return and tell all our friends. Thanks to all.
A wonderful old pub right in the middle of the city. Great selection of drinks and food. Couldnt recommend this place enough. The staff were great too. Would definitely come back!
Great pub with great old world charm and a legendary name. Lots of beers on tap, super tall ceilings and stained windows add so much character to this place, and staff make the drinks appear quick, so it is up to you how much you enjoy yourself in these cool surrounds.
Fantastic old pub 2 mins walk off colmore row. Great selection of ales and food menu.
Excellent, established and beautiful pub in the backyard of the city. Good range of beers and a very good crowd make this a worthwhile venue for a traditional night out in a proper Brummy boozer. The gents loos are a work of art in themselves.
We have eaten at The Old Contemptibles a few times.Old traditional English Pub with warm and friendly atmosphere, interesting historical artefacts about English history, fabulous decor. The atmosphere is cozy with dimmed lights and candles, dark wood and large heavy curtains .Good assortment of ales and beers, wine, spirits and soft drinks. The menu is extensive and the food taste lovely especially the sausages.Service is great and the food came warm and came out not long after ordering.I will be back soon.
The foods it WOW! Very yummy foods, And the service it wonderful, the peace very nice and clean. Feel very relaxing here, love to come back again.
