The Oar House in Marathon

Service was excellent and super friendly. Food is average but a very nice place. There was no sign when I dined here. A grey building with an exterior brick finish on the lower portion of the building.

Great home made food. Had the (home madegnocchi with meat sauce with soup of the day (steak and mushroom soupand home made bread and it was amazing.

The service and food were amazing! Just a small place and you may need to wait for your food but it is worth it!

The good: fresh ingredients and definitely home made items to be had, which is a lovely change when youre on the road and getting fast food so much!The bad: if youre getting items to go back to a hotel, double check you have cutlery and seasonings as many of the items were pretty bland, but I can appreciate that it would be more inclusive to customers who are restrictive of some items. Overall, despite having to eat items with our hands and coffee sticks and it was kinda bland and had me wishing i travelled with salt, it was good food and im sure eating in the restaurant would be a phenomenal experience

In Marathon for work and thus far this is one of my top places to order from. Good service 👍Delicious food. Burger and poutine was excellent. I will definitely be ordering from these guys again and again.

I had the chicken panini. It was very filling and tastes great. My friends enjoyed their meals as well. We did not wait long to be served. The restaurant is clean and cozy. The staff were very friendly. Will make sure to stop here again anytime I come back to Marathon.

We had a great lunch and we left feeling very satisfied. We were on a road trip and we decided to pull into lovely Marathon, Ontario. When Google maps gave us options, we deliberately didn’t want go to the local A&W or Pizza Hut. We wanted to enjoy a diner experience like we were used to.As we were passing through and on a schedule, we had to stick with light fare so we ordered the Egg Salad Sandwich on toasted Rye bread with Fries, the Cheeseburger and the Chicken Cutlet Panini. The egg sandwich was great, with flourishes of diced lettuce mixed in and the rye tasted delicious toasted. The Cheeseburger was deliciously homemade. We were informed by the staff that the buns and panini bread were homemade as well as their tomato sauce. The chicken panini was excellent with lots of parmesan cheese.The server was very friendly and prompt with the coffee refills.We’re all glad we found The Oar House.

Thanks to Google reviews, I was able to find this restaurant. Traveling from thunder bay to Sault ste Marie...we needed to find a place to eat on a trip seemingly void of choicesWe were glad to find this restaurant. There is no sign on the outside of the building indicating this is a restaurant though.Each meal is made to order. One group behind us was told it would be an hour to get food because of multiple tables before them in queue.There is one table in the back with a reserved sigh .. its reserved for groups of 6 or more.One waitress, very friendly and prompt.

Food was ok. Waitress forgot a lot of stuff I ordered and I didnt have the energy to say anything. Price was ok. Roasted chicken seemed to be fried.

If you like pizza this is the best place for pizza in Marathon...crust is exactly what I wanted melt in your mouth kinda pizza...😋Place is clean and kept up to standard can really see that the owners have pride in their business. Would surely visit again

Three stars because I assume the other customer didnt lie to me when he said: "Theyre usually not that slow". The food was nothing fancy bit also not bad. Just took very long for them to make it. The one waitress was friendly but seemed a bit overwhelmed with her job. One good point is that there seemed to be no salt on the kids food. All in all I would not visit again and just opt for the A&W if I ever get to Marathon again.

Food was mediocre/okay. Service was unacceptable. The server didn’t acknowledge us, clearly she could care less because we weren’t local... she seemed nice to everyone else...

Food is good. A little pricey though. $15 for a clubhouse deluxe is a little steep.

Took for ever to get menues food ect. Owner was a little agressive to his staff; which was one poor lonely girl. Lots of confusion. They really need a kitchen manger yhats not the owner. The owner needs to go fishing and relax.The food however, was very good.

The wait is too long. The food was good but waited a hour and 10 min for food wasnt even busy.

This is by far my favorite restaurant in Marathon. Last week I went in and ordered raviolis stuffed with ricotta with what I assume was a homemade sauce and for someone that doesnt usually like meat sauce, I have to say that it was delicious. I would even go as far to say that it was better than the pasta/sauce that I get at Olive Garden. I also would highly recommend the Oar Houses pizza over pizza huts. If you want a good tasting crust the Oar House is the place to go.

Excellent! Friendly, quick service. Very attentive, but not intruding. We had breakfast, and it was VERY good! Both of our eggs were cooked exactly how we ordered them. Glad we stopped!

Make sure you get to the Oar House an hour before the closing time on their website because the kitchen closes at least a half hour earlier sometimes 40 minutes earlier as per my experience.

We stopped here on July 12. 14 of us walked in unannounced, I think it took the owner by surprise, but he eventually warmed up. The waitress was also our cook and she had a good time with us. Considering the small staff, they did a good job taking care of us. I would stop in again

A great place to eat. Pasta, chicken (pieces, qtr, half), pizza, veal, the usual sandwiches.Opened at 4PM when we were in town.
