The North Star - Pub in Lancing, United Kingdom
Excellent food from sandwiches to perfectly cooked steaks. Staff always really friendly and helpful even when my father in law with Alzheimers asks for 10 sugars with his coffee :)
Fantastic bottomless brunch, molly was a great host, very ettentive and very efficient and helpful ๐. Will definitely come again *****
Nice sandwiches and friendly staff. Although I asked for a glass of water and it never came.
we go to the Northstar on a regular basis for something to eat and drink. Nathen and his Team always make us most welcome and are an asset to Ember Inns
Not been before but met up with my dad, his partner and my sisters for midweek get together. They had a promotion on for 50% off mains so was very busy, but alas you expect that. They also do a fixed price menu, which possibly for us would have worked out cheaper so best check when ordering. Was told straight away there was about 40 min wait for food, but liked the honesty and as it so happened was not as long as that anyway.Had prawn cocktail which was lovely, followed by steak. Not usually a fan of steak out as never cooked how I like it and hit and miss. However, this was beautiful, cooked to perfection and very tasty. 4 of us had steak, all asked for it differently and all came out perfectly. Have been to more expensive, sometimes actually places that specialises in steaks , and not as nice.Service very good. Only downside is they need more car parking spaces as car park rammed, but i cant see how they could do that really.
Good food, Great menu, friendly staff.
Been a few times now and three times for Sunday lunch. Pretty good Sunday toast, food always arrives hot, service very good, surroundings pleasant. Itโs always busy so best to book.Recommended for food & service
Good food at reasonable prices and very friendly, competent staff
Went on the off chance got a seat straight away even though busy and serve quickly and politely
Good food as usual, friendly staff, what more could you want from a cheap meal out!
Tasty food for the price, friendly staff made it a good experience.Lovely time with friends for lunch.
Group of us had our regular monthly meeting last week at the North Star, new menu has a few changes but as per our previous visits food presented and cooked well.Staff particularly attentive, thank you Wendy for looking after us so well.Great all round pub for food and excellent service.
It hurts me to right this poor review as I vist the North star Worthing often, which is usually a great experience. Not tonight, although we booked our table I had to wait 20 minuets to be allocated as there wasnt enough staff on, however the premies wasnt that busy. We ordered by the app but my sons meal didnt arrive untill my wife and I had finished ours. Very poor service tonight. Not enough staff for a restaurant bar which had many tables empty, inexcusable.
Just had lunch here. Very disappointing. I had the roast beef..All the vegetables fand the Yorkshire pudding were from frozen. The meat was inedible it was so tough. Will not be going here again. I have been here in the past and it has been OK so not sure what has changed. Have to say it wasnt very busy which says alot as it used to be so popular.
Had a great time here good food and drinks almost a 5 star but the expresso martini was just not to my taste using Arabian coffee ๐
Great experience. Food, service and atmosphere all good. Recommended.
Great food, sensible prices. Been a couple of times now, very good.
I am really sorry to have to leave this review. In the past I have left 5 stars. I regularly order the steak and onion rings and chips. Normally it is really lovely and amazing value for money. Last night however the steak was extremely tough and barely edible! I was so disappointed! Last Sunday I ordered the roast beef. It came without gravy!
Great quiz night on a Thursday, loads of fun! And zero alcohol IPA. Result!
Always enjoy an evening at the North Star the staff are very Friendly and welcoming and actually have a good sense of Humour..unlike some pubs nearby
Love the North Star and the new menu was a refreshing change although there are still some usual favourites. The food and service were great.
The experience was not good. Sticky floor, dirty table, food low end of average pub food. Coffee absolutely terrible. Prices average for a pub.
Great value, pleasant staff and the steaks were excellent! Will definitely return soon.
Lovely service and atmosphere. I would recommend to anyone. The food is excellent.
Had hunters chicken with onion rings mushrooms tomatoes, and chips ,very nice and would recommend it staff helpful and pleasant x
We came Wednesday evening for a meal without our children, and had a lovely meal and couple of drinks, nice calm atmosphere, staff worked really hard and was a pleasure to be served by a team who clearly enjoy working with people.Thank you to all the team, although we came down before a long day ahead of us on Thursday, we just needed some time to ourselves and that was respectfully given to us.Best WishesMr and Mrs Fox
Visited for lunch with a friend, good service. Food came out in timely fashion served piping hot.Great deals on so will be returning In the future.
Although it was slightly busier for midweek we still waited a long time for our food. 1 meal was sent back as it was fish and was not fresh. Staff were very nice and polite though.
Great pub, with a lovely menu and friendly staff. One of my fav locals with a great pub quiz on a Thursday.
We booked The North Star for my mums birthday as we have had lovely meals there previously, unfortunately today was not so good, the floors as sticky as a nightclub floor (our chairs were stuck to the floor when we went to get upand dirty from previous families, the serviettes were blue paper hand towels - the kind you would find in a pub bathroom. Our main meal wasnt an improvement, the service was very slow and the bar/restaurant was almost empty. There was something in the mash potato that looked like blood and the meat in the pie was very tough. The staff were very apologetic and explained that some dishes are bought in from other companies.
Staff were courteous, prompt and polite. The lady who served us initially, Wendy was very helpful and attentiveThe food was exceptionally well prepared and absolutely brilliant. The atmosphere and the venue was ambient and pleasant
Food took to long to arriveWasnt busy in the restaurant eitherMy vegetables tasted old and the roasts werent roasted. They were old boiled things. Pigs in blankets were inedible. Chewy like theyd reheated them. Kids dinners came out at seperate times. My youngest one was 5 minutes after mine and my older daughter same with pudfing my older daughters was 10 minutes after youngest pudding. If I wasnt so hungry or waited so long My dinner would of been Sent back. Pretty poor food. Dont think any of its fresh. No one asked if everything was OK with our meal.Overall I wont be returning
A wide-ranging menu with plenty of vegetarian and vegan dishes. Pleasant staff and competitive prices. The tables and menus need a good wipe down, though.
Great pub/restaurant.Have been drinking here for 17 years and it still delivers. The current management are probably the best that has ever been there.Lovely staff who have all worked there years,I would say that this is the best local pub that belongs to a chain that youโll ever findโฆ
Absolutely lovely!! The food is fab, very friendly staff, excellent service by a young gentleman called Connor, made sure we had the best experience there, very polite and was brilliant with my grandsonโฆ.Just a fantastic pub !!
I Hate to leave reviews like this but after the 2nd bad experience in a row...we will not be returning to one of our local pubs.Poor quality... hunters chicken looked like it had been run over, a third of the thickness of a normal chicken breast. Charded chicken, bacon and half tomato. (Didnโt even See a mushroomThe handful of chips were slightly underdone (hard in the middle), my partners fish was bordering of burnt with only a handful of chips and a spoon of mushy peas. After we had finished our meal, still hungry we were going to have dessert but after 30/45 mins of waiting & being ignored we gave up and went to the bar to ask for the bill.A few weeks before I had been and had a microwaved / nuked lasagne .... its not great! Could of gone to a hungry horse for a fiver and got better food and service. Sorry guys ๐ but for a birthday treat it was really really bad !
Food lovely very good value for money staff very lovely
Returned for lunch with a favourite friend to toast absent people. Felt safe and perfectly attended by Wendy and the team. Clean comfortable and excellent food and drink . A great place with something for everyone
Really disappointed, my grandson choice was the North Star in Worthing where we have been before and enjoyed. Arrived on time and weโre totally ignored by a moron with green hair( a great advert fir the pub), didnโt even acknowledge we were standing there, 10 minutes later when we told them wh had a booking we were led to a table that hadnโt even been cleaned from the previous clients. Was not asked if we wanted a drink , another 15 minutes a waitress appears to take our order, still no drinks, then informed that two if the three starters they had run out of, then informed that it would be another hour wait before we could expect out meal, all Thus at 1930/1945 hrs so not late. Had to leave and the boy ended up with a pizza. Would be reluctant to return to an Ember Inns again
Had a lovely evening here having a drink with the family. Not been for many years and really enjoyed the atmosphere and setting and booked to go back for a meal in two weeks. Easy parking and very friendly staff and easy to get a table though it was a Mon night. Staff interacted with the people in there visiting and made you feel welcome. Outside garden area looked lovely. Somewhere to try in warmer months.
Lovely food great atmosphere. One member of staff was slight over intensive by keep asking if we were going to order food. Despite us saying we would let them know when reading or do it on app he still kept coming over every few mins. Otherwise a great time. Will be going back
Food was nice, very decent portions. All the staff were friendly too, this pub used to have a bad reputation for food, but now it seems to have changed and is much much better.Would definitely visit again
A very favourite meeting place that ticks all the boxes. It is clean and comfortable and safety conscious and the team are amazing and very considerate of your needs and satisfaction. The range of wine and ale is very satisfactory and there is food to suit most tastes. Our servers today..Wendy and Tim were excelkent. They know I am vision Impaired and always remember my needs and favourite familiar area..which is very important...and my food and drink preferences.
We had 2 steak dinners. Peas were not cooked and hard as bullets. Steak was mostly gristle and though we both asked for well done there was blood in the middle of the small amount we were actually able to cut into. The worst ever meals weve been served anywhere ever. We never made a complaint but we left without bothering to order any afters or more drinks.
I met friends for lunch here today, my first visit since early last year. By 12.30 it was really quite busy and there was a good, lively, atmosphere. The food was tasty and good value and was delivered promptly. Plenty of staff were on hand to provide friendly and attentive table service. Recommended.
Took my three grandchildren as one was having her 12th birthday. No waiting to be seated and didnt have to wait for service either. Food was lovely. Good portion sizes for the childrens meals, very little was wasted.I would also like to say a very big thank you to Sam, she was so lovely with the children and arranged for the birthday girl to have candles in her pudding and sung happy birthday. So nice to be somewhere where children were made so welcome. I would definitely return ๐
Great meal for 6 of us. Food was lovely, staff friendly and great value for money. So, 4 weeks down the line and we return. To be honest, they were busy, however, after showing us to our table and cleaning it down we waited 15 minutes .....no one came to take any orders, drinks or food so we left. Im sure the food would have been good but the service was way way short of acceptable.
Great family meal, felt Covid safe and very good service etc.
Me and my girlfriend decided to eat here in the evening on the Saturday just gone . I cannot explain how disappointed me and my partner are! This is only are second experience here! First time was absolutely brilliant! We were so looking forward to coming back here for another delicious meal. This time it was well below standard disappointing infact... We came in on the Saturday night, just after 6pm before it got busy, with only a handful of tables being used in the restaurant area. Both of us finally decided what we wanted to eat after 5 minutes of looking at the menu. As we were waiting not one member of your staff had a clue we there until 6.35pm at least 25mins of waiting until we were served. Apart from the waiting everything was going well. We had are starter, which we loved and we both just dismiss the waiting to be served as the starter was delicious. Just after finishing this is where it went horribly wrong for the restaurant.... We noticed the pub starting to get busy filling up in the restaurant area. We knew we would get are food well before anyone else as we came in early. We started to notice other tables were having there food giving to them well before us! Tables of 4 and 6 people around us getting their food out! There was only 2 of us who ordered well before these people who werent even around at the point of us ordering! We started to get frustrated, so I question one of your waiters who unfortunately didnt have a name badge so I cannot tell you who he was. I asked him for an update on table 12 foods order. All i had got was its coming and didnt even check in the kitchen to see when it was coming out to us! So after an hour finally the food got to us! The food was awful!!!! Not one person came to check on us to ask us about the food. My girlfriend decided to up to the a staff member and complained how awful it was. She had a chicken and bacon carbonara, which was very chewy and pasta was undercooked. Too her surprise the response she got which we think was a manager in there words saying oh Im sorry I wouldnt eat that myself as its a package product and isnt very nice we are not a Italian restaurant..... I mean wow talk about being honest or what! So your staff member wouldnt eat it himself to tell us its microwaved! To wait for a meal which is microwaved and tasted awful for a couple of minutes to be served to you an hour later is appalling! Just to add I had a cheese and bacon burger which tasted horrendous! which on your menu says served with relish and seasoned fries... Fries were not seasoned and no relish. So a burger and some pasta took well over an hour how the hell does that happen. Lastly went to the bar to pay for are food made sure the carbonara was removed and did complain to another staff member who ended up huffing and puffing just rude! We were generally being polite and that was the response we got! Fortunately we will never be coming here again!
