Modern British menu and real ales in large Thameside gastropub with flagstone floor and river views.
Unparalleled view making any visit worthwhile (ask to be seated in the cover terrace side with a view)Views of Canary wharf, the city and all the way to elephant and castle.Indistinguishable food.Fairly pricey so would not go there for the food (the tuna starter was nice - rest was average)Service was average (blue roll left on the bar counter, slow service, no automatic water refill, if asking for a glass of water in restaurant expect to be served in a branded beer pint glass)
First time going to a proper Gordon Ramsay restaurant and I would never go to one again. The service was terrible. We had to ask to get drinks. The waitress was uninterested and unfriendly. No one checked in on how our meal was or asked if we needed anything. For a Gordon Ramsay restaurant I expected a lot more. The food was average and even with a voucher the food was overpriced for what it was.The burger I had from Gordon Ramsay Street Burger at Covent Garden was x10 better. Save your money and go there instead!
Foods were great and the portion was also quite big. Deserts were also exceptional. and even the location was fantastic. However, the problem is service. We went there on time for our booking but told us the table is not ready and please wait. But they didnt know how long we will need to wait. Around 10-15 minutes later, the table was ready. However, after then, It took almost 30 minutes for ordering food as no one came to receive orders. We called a manager for ordering food, the manager called another staff, this staff called another staff again, and disappeared.Even after, when the food was finally served, they noticed that one dish was not ordered properly. So we had to wait 10 minutes additionally. If you want to try Gordon Ramsay food at an expectable price, then its fine. However, if you are expecting a good experience, avoid this restaurant. Maybe McDonalds service is more friendly, faster and accurate.
Enjoyed our last meal before the restaurant shuts for a refurb. I look forward to visiting as soon as possible after the reopening!
Beautiful location with a wonderful and unobstructed view of the river and the southern bank. There are tables in enclosed as well as the open part of the patio. The staff were attentive and polite but I had a feeling they were understaffed. The food was top quality and replacing our chips with a healthier alternative (broccoliwas not a problem at all. We will be back.
Beautiful location, very tasty food, absolutely friendly and helpful staff but prices are higher than the normal. I paid tips for staff and even the chef by cash because of the delicious steak but when I got home I realised they charged me £45 more for the service charge! The funny thing was The Narrow explained over my bills optional service charge! But they didn’t ask me about it! They charge me without asking! This is ridiculously unprofessional and unfair.Customers Are Not Stupid Sir.Customers are not born yesterday.Customers are also you and me. Do I need to explain also this? I think you are smart enough, arent you?I wont go back there anymore.I won’t recommend it
Given some of the poor reviews regarding the service we were a little weary of coming here, but from the moment we walked in the door all of the staff were very friendly and attentive. We ordered the Butter Chicken and the Fish & Chips with Sticky toffee pudding for well, pudding. (Desert for North American peeps)The curry was very good and the fish n chips not too bad. Pudding with ice cream was excellent. Great surroundings with river views, a little pricey but this is London so what you would expect.
Beautiful setting on the Thames. Welcoming and friendly staff. Very nice food. Only problem was the very slow service. Waited ages for drinks on arrival. Had to ask several times for olives. Main meals slow in arriving, perhaps because the chicken curry was sold out and 3 people had ordered it and then had to reorder after waiting sometime already. It wasnt a huge problem as we were celebrating our sons graduation and were happy to be sitting together in a lovely setting on a warm and pleasant evening.
The food was absolutely delicious and the views were amazing but they ran out of the Sunday roast which was truly heartbreaking because we came specifically for the roast. Also, bizarrely, the manager stood beside our tables for the majority of the two hours that we were there, it was almost as if we were famous and needed protection the way he was guarding and keeping watch over our table - it was very uncomfortable for us (try eating a meal with a stranger watching you the whole time then you’ll see what I mean!)
Very nice service staff but the restaurant was severely understaffed so the service was quite slow. The tuna tartare was delicious but portion small. Ribeye was cooked and seasoned perfectly but the red wine marrow sauce was tasteless. Overall I would say it was a ho hum experience. Certainly not what I would have hoped for from a Gordon Ramsay restaurant.
17/7 /22 Wow what a lovely place, right beside the fabulous River Thames fantastic views. Service was very attentive, friendly and the food, well the food and drinks where amazing lovely flavors !! Will be going again soon hopefully!!(Only negative was toilets ..not clean also smelly and toilets broken also no soap )
Excellent food and great service. We had cod with tasted heavenly, burger was really nice too. Browne was excellent. Staff very attentive and professional, especially Oriana was very accommodating and went an extra mile to make us feel special. This place should really get a better score. Definitely recommended. Nice view and breeze from Thames.
Nice view and the portion of food was generous. Was already half full after starter.Service not bad but felt like the waiters/waitresses keeps putting things downand taking things away (e.g giving you napkins after each coursr and taking away the small plates and giving you new ones where nobody cares...). It may just be the way that they were trained to do but it could be irritating when you tried to have a good chat with friends but seeing them putting things here and there!
We had a nice evening, service was lacking a bit but our server was lovely. Food was nice but not outstanding. Best thing we had was the dessert, the sticky toffee pudding and brownie were amazing! That would most likely be the only reason I come back!
Me and my friend visited London for a couple of days from Paris, the city is breathtaking! After an entire day of exploring we got very hungry and decided to look for a place to eat and we stumbled upon your restaurant. We were welcomed with open arms by the receptionist I can’t remember her name, we got seated really quickly and felt very important from the start. Our waiter Daniel explained the menu to us extremely professionally and with a friendly manner, recommending the best choices from the menu.He recommended the stake which was on point in regards to our order requirements! The wine recommended by Daniel was a perfect match to the pallet of wonderful food that is served at your restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised at point of entry that the restaurant is owned by Gordon Ramsey, after watching him on TV since forever. Finally, I would like to say thank you to all the staff who attended to all of our needs, we had an amazing experience and will definitely come back if we decide to visit London again!Gordon if you’re reading this - we love you!
Greatest evening of my life, as I proposed to my lady, and she said YES !! The staff helped every part of the evening. Food and ambience was second to none. River view moon light it was the perfect moment to get on one knee. Thank you guys shall return very very soon x 😊
Easily the best burger I have had in a while. So good, I ordered a second one. Bun was just right, not too soft and not to crispy. The patty was delicious. No additional seasoning required. Cheese was melted and tasty! Koffman fries were the best ever and reason enough to come back. Highly recommend. The chefs here know what they are doing.
Go see David! The star of the restaurant. Great recommendations and lovely tableside manner.Food was very good and a delicious French Martini.Overlooking the water, beautiful table in covered outdoor dining.Thank you David, off to drink champagne at the hotel!!
Delicious food. We discovered it by accident on our walk but it was lovely. Service was a bit slow and its of course not cheap, but delicious food none the less
Great experience tonight. I mentioned as we were walked to our table that we were out celebrating my cousins birthday. After we had eaten through our three delicious courses. The staff brought out a plate with a happy birthday written on it with a candle and slice of cake. Perfect evening!
We went for dinner here the 4 of us. The food was good but not at the price. I know you pay for the view - but there are many other options who charge less. The service was undeniably friendly, but beyond the smile and chat, fell down. They forgot our drinks and after reminding only brought 3 or 4 after nearly half an hour. They also charged us a bottle we didn’t drink. That being said - they gave us a free toffee cake at the end and the view was superb so I don’t think it could be less than 3 stars.
I was taken to lunch the day after my birthday by my best friend to celebrate. It was a hot sunny days and first planned to sit outside under one of the big umbrellas on the curving terrace overall the river. However the manager asked if we would eat inside instead but just inside one of the full height sliding glass doors m, as the staff were clearing the terrace to set up for a private BBQ Party later which would mean we had no one sitting at the tables outside giving a clear view of the river, we were in the shade and the breeze from the water turned the 25C heat into a pleasant warmth. All the serving staff were excellent, friendly and chatty but still professional. We first enjoyed an Aperol Spritz with a dash of dry Martini added giving that extra nuance. My friend ordered an excellent Sauvigon Blanc which was very pleasant. I didnt have a starter but my companion got the Burrata and gave me a taste which was rich and creamy. My main was an flavoursome Spinach and Ricotta Cannelloni in a well balanced seasoned sauce which balanced the flavours well. The sticky toffee pudding was also good..not so sweet as to be too sweet on the palate and matched with a good vanilla ice cream providing that further balance of flavours. We thoroughly enjoyed it, the food, the view, the ambiance and, the all important, good personable customer service from the servers. I will eat here again and will recommend to my friends.
We went to the restaurant without a reservation, waited for 20 minutes in the bar and then we got a table for the whole family of 6.We ordered and had a wonderful view over the Thames. The place is very nice, the staff is very friendly and the athmosphere really added to our overall experience. When the food was presented everyone got quiet and dug in. The ceasar salad was very good, the cannellonis and chicken too and our youngest smiled when eating her burger ”natural”.As a father of 4 it is very satisfying to see everyone smiling and eating, having a wonderful evening by the Thames.Recommended!
Party of 6 and although we did have later reservations, they were out of so many items on the already limited menu. There was a mix up in the kitchen and food was delayed, but they made up for the inconvenience with a proper discount. Staff and atmosphere were amazing as well as location.
Lovely restaurant in a beautiful location right on the river. We went on a lovely sunny day so made the views all that more amazing. I had padron peppers to start (shared), a chicken Caesar salad for main which was delicious and very generous portion & the chocolate brownie for desert which was absolutely lovely. I wasnt drinking but the other people I was with had the lady narrow cocktail as recommended by the waiter and said they were absolutely delicious as well. The staff were very attentive and welcoming and overall was a lovely lunch that I highly recommend and will be back again. The only negative I have is that quite a few bits on the menu werent available which happened to be the things I wanted so originally wanted the olives to start but didnt have any or the spiced nuts, no Coke zero (was on the menu& no sticky toffee pudding so that was a bit disappointing but everything we did have was lovely
Great location for a sunny day. Delicious food and atmosphere. The service was a bit slow on the day but didnt bother us as we were in no rush.
Great location with a great view. Very friendly stuff and food and homemade lemonaids tasted great - not that cheap, but worth its price. Reservation highly recommenden especially at weekends or when it is good weather.
Delicious food, good beer and snacks 🤤 very nice service 🤗 I heartily recommend it 🙃Im visit the first time, but not for the last ☺️
My favourite restaurant from Gordon Ramsay is the food delicious fish 🐟 and chips 🍟 and burgers with some tasty bottles of red wine 🍾, oh and the view 🌅 is fantastic right next to the Themes river it is just so beautiful.
The kitchen seemed to have run out of salt, I couldnt detect any in the cooking of my burger or on the fries. The only options for the burger were medium well or well done. Its a bad burger that costs £21 (+£5 if you want to add avocado or £3 for an egg). Nothing justifies that price. The service was fine, but we were seated at one (very nicetable and then moved to a table with no view while still reading the menu. When taking our order the waiter seemed annoyed. I ordered a beer (the top one on the menubut was told they didnt have it as if that shouldve been obvious to me.£65 for two burgers, a half pint and a cocktail. I felt robbed. I couldve had better and cheaper in lots of other places in London. The fact that this places trades off its Gordon Ramsay connection makes that conclusion all the worse. Avoid like the plague.
The food was superb. I had the ravioli with peas and shallott as a starter. Then the pork belly. The top was just perfectly crunchy! The apple pure and the red wine sauce with the meat was a little taste of heaven. My partner had the cod and she was also very happy with it. Everything looked very nicely presented. The service was also spot on, kind and helpful. The view is just the cherry on the top.It is a bit pricey, but it is expected for the quality and the milieu. In short, recommended.Back again, I can only confirm my previous review. Good food, nice view, nice service.
Great experience and food was very nice. Staff were amazing and the waiter Javier was very lovely and helpful.I was a bit disappointed that they didnt offer anything for my dog. It did say on the website that they have treats for the dogs but when I asked for some they said they didnt have any. If I knew this was going to be the case, I would have went to another dog-friendly restaurant that accommodated for dogs a lot more.Other than that, the experience was nice and the staff were very lovely.
Nice views over the Thames and Canary Wharf but sadly that’s all what The Narrow has to offer…For a Gordon Ramsay’s restaurant we had high expectations but it turned into a shockingly poor experience for Valentine’s Day so we wouldn’t want to recommend it to anybody. The service was cold and inattentive (no effort was made to accommodate any of our requests on the A La Carte menu and we constantly had to ask for our water glasses to be topped up). The food was all really bland and way overpriced for what it was. I paid almost £22 for an overcooked, bland bacon cheeseburger without any sauce on it (the original Sriracha mayo wasn’t to my taste so I asked our waitress if it could be swapped with classic mayo, she agreed but then the burger got served without any sauce at all in the end!). The sticky toffee pudding was drenched in overly sweet sauce and was quite dry too. Only the salted caramel ice cream that came with it was quite edible to be honest. Again, overall a rather bad experience so we will not return.
The service was absolutely great! We discovered the restaurant on our walk and wanted to come back an hour later for dinner. Patrick was so welcoming and nice, he personally made sure we had good seat. The entire staff were also very attentive and friendly. The appetizers were awesome. The tuna tartare was so delicious and the Caesar salad was executed well. But unfortunately the main dishes weren’t as good as the appetizers. We were a bit disappointed as they lack flavor and were a bit simple for pricing. But we would love to go back to try more appetizers and for the excellent service.
Where to start. The tuna tartar was the best part, I cant complain. In fact, it was very high quality. But the wine glasses, to start, were dirty and set the tone. I was unimpressed with the quality of the rest of the food. I had the cod, which was a solid 7, but the mashed potatoes that came with it were underwhelming and flavorless. My partner had the butter chicken, it was just OK, but the rice that came with it was inedible. And the Mac and cheese lacked in flavor and salt. Very disappointed that I paid over 100 pounds for such lackluster food. Considering weve eaten at many Gordon Ramsey locations, this was the first time Ive felt the need to write a poor review.
I used to be a frequent customer and really loved the venue and view but it’s no longer the same service and quality of food post-pandemic. The night started off poorly when we had to add another person to our reservation. Without even making any effort to accommodate, they turned us down straightaway. Only after a lot of persuasion and suggestions on moving the table did they try to squeeze in one more chair for us. It turns out we had plenty of space and they were clearly not willing to go the extra mile. The table service was also terrible. We waited ages for our food. They forgot our drinks. My fish and chips came really salty. The food quality is horrible considering they are charging over £20 for a plate of subpar fish and chips! Am certainly not returning after this disappointing experience…
Seemed a bit understaffed, but the hostess tonight was so lovely and immediately made us feel at ease. Our server, a lovely Italian man of Bangladeshi descent whose name Ive forgotten, was also wonderful. The food was good too.
Friendly and good service however the food was very salty. Had the Roast Sunday Chicken, the meat was cooked nicely but very salty.
No reservations needed, we went for a sunday Lunch, we got accommodated immediately, best time to come is 12nn as it gets busier. You can get a table with a nice view also. Ordered a roasted cod and sunday roast partner it with red wine, flavor was great, portion was generous, service was fast. Price is good for the food and service provided. Definitely Satisfied! Will definitely be back and bring my friends!
Very Disappointing! The food was well below the standard I expected from a Gordon Ramsay restaurant. The service was mostly superb (with one exception). And our starters were okay (although I thought the Caesar Salad dressing was somewhat bland). However, our main courses were very disappointing - my companion had to send her cannelloni back, as it was burnt/overcooked and dry.My burger was supposed to be medium/rare, but it was medium at best and dry as well. The only saving grace was our delightful maitresse d, who could not have been more apologetic and charming (and who discounted the bill). If this had been one of Gordons televised visits to a restaurant, the air would have been thick with expletives!I expected much better from this place.
Very nice, right on the Thames . Meal was very nice but cant say much for the service, very slow. The decor a little tatty in places.
Had a lovely time on a visit on 01/04/2022. The view was exceptional. The food was also amazing too with great flavours and cooked too perfection; however what made our visit special was our waitress Luiza. She was so sweet and attentive and made the whole experience perfect. Luiza is a real credit to the restaurant. Thank you for a fabulous time. Will definitely return!
This was our first time to The Narrow. Was really looking forward to it. Had an early booking on Sunday, 27 March. Nearly the first to arrive and were seated at the worst table. They walked us past all the empty tables with views and only told us they were not available. Waited over 45 minutes for our meal, when we asked the status they were dismissive and said because we did not order a starter, that its normal to take at least 45 minutes. Our server was not interested in looking after us. We asked for a wine list, waited... and finally asked again. Then, she never asked what we would like. At this point, we gave up, spoke to the manager (who tried to apologizeand ultimately did take 20% off our bill. Nice gesture but a little too late for us to want to ever go back. Recommendation... better to offer a discount for a future visit and give the restaurant a chance to prove they can offer a positive experience. Based on his TV show, Gordon would have blown his top over this.
Great food, tad expensive but its tied to the Ramsey name so expected. What really sets it apart is the location, the amazing panoramic view of the Thames stretching from canary wharf to the city.
My planned lunch in The City didn’t start well so I decided to hop over to the riverside in Limehouse instead. I hadn’t been to The Narrow before but I love the area. I wasn’t disappointed. I knew this was a restaurant - not really a pub - and I knew that it would be relatively pricey. So my eyes were wide open. The staff were top notch. They couldn’t have been better. Manager Luisa was extremely professional - but hands-on. Eyes all over the room - which is always a great sign. I didn’t have to even raise a hand to attract attention. My waitress was Klara and she couldn’t have been better. Very attentive and helped me with everything. And to cap it all the chef, Zach, came out to check that he’d cooked the steak to my liking. Fantastic! And all lovely people, too.The location is special. There can’t be many better views in London. So, go visit this place. Forget the celebrity name and just enjoy good food, great service and a wonderful vista. I am 100% confident that I’ll be back again and again.
We went to the Narrow to celebrate our daughters birthday . We had a fun time together , as a group of four.We knew the menu was simple , the starters of squid and ravioli were delicious . The mains of fish and burgers were mixed. The cod and red wine sauce was delicious and beautifully cooked. The burgers were not cooked as ordered. The buns were too sweet and detracted from the overall flavors of the burgers. The meat was really good quality. My daughter ordered a liquid dessert which was forgotten . The sticky toffee pudding and chocolate brownies were fabulous , light and full of flavour. The wine, drinks and dessert wine were all very good. The general atmosphere was great , however the physical construct of the restaurant was in need of investment , and the toilets would benefit from an upgrade. The service varied , some waiters were attentive whilst others forgot requests .
For a Gordon Ransey Restaurant this experience was dissappointing. We waited 25 mins to be seated for our reservation, so we paid for drinks at the bar. When the table was ready the manager told us to leave our drinks and they would bring them over.20 mins later we had to chase it up and found iut they had lost our drinks so they offered to replace them on the house.Food took a further 30 mins for the starters to arrive. And after starters another 50 mins for the mains, to which my medium burger was well done, i told them about this and they offered to remove it from the bill.It took a total of 3 hours to have a 2 course meal. When we asked for the bill, the burger was still on the bill and so were the drinks, and when we asked for them to correct the bill they did so and told us that they discounted the drinks which were meant to be on the house. (They just mistook it for on my house instead of their house). The food we had (aside from the burgertasted nice but the service was very lacking and slow.If you have a LOT of time to spare its worth going but i do not think that I will be returning. All the surrounding tables had the same issue of the wait times for food. So they were consistent on that point.
My bf brought me here for my birthday dinner and I must say this is the best! The location is perfect, riverside view of Canary Wharf and central London. The atmosphere is lovely and so romantic for couple dating. The staff is super polite and friendly, five star service quality. The food is amazing, just wow! We tried Love London set menu. For starter, we tried Roasted peper and tomato soup, crème fraiche, chives oil and Potted salt beef brisket with grain mustard, piccalilli, seeded crackers. For main dishes, we tried Black truffle and mushroom ravioli, creamy mushroom sauce and Beer battered haddock and chips, mushy peas, tartare sauce. The portions are huge, we were so full and happy. For dessert, please try sticky pudding, salted caramel ice cream 🍨, it is so tasty. They also offered me a free slice of cake 🍰 as a present for my birthday. How lovely it is! The price is so reasonable for a wonderful experience and for Gordon Ramsay brandname. We paid £25 for 2 courses and £30 for 3 courses meal. This is a must to try when you are in London! Highly recommend and we definitely come back again!
we got tomato soup and ravioli. it was class. i thought that the portions were a bit small, but i actually found myself to be full after eating. coffee was delicious. the views were unmatched and it was just a beautiful experience. thank you.nice.super very nice.
The service of the waitstaff was terrific! They were well trained and happy to please and oblige in taking our pictures. They didnt hurry us to leave even if we were the last persons in the dining room. We love the river view and the experience. I especially love the grapefruit martini. I wasnt thrilled about one of the appetizers. We were surprised though that they did not give free bread considering that this is a Gordon Ramsay restaurant and so, not a cheap one. (And by the way, the paid bread wasnt spectacular, lol!But overall, this was a great experience (November 2021), and did not disappoint!
