A special temple and many contents on Buddhism but there were preparations for a private ceremony and another private photo capturing makes my visit uncomfortable...

Spectacularly colourful and complex blended architecture in the forms of both a Summer and Winter Palace. Like most museums in the city, theres a charge for admission and an extra charge to take photos. I kind of regret not getting the photo pass. However, you can still take photos of the outside. The Winter Palace which looks more Western in design and white, was actually created with Russian architecture and design in mind. The Summer Palace, however, had a more Buddhist royal style and structure. One of the large gates was even built with no nails, instead substituting them for complex interlocking wooden joints. The history that is offered up along with the feats for the eyes make this a great museum.

I was looking for a steak joint. Not expecting this one. I loved it. The BBQs really grilled, and the decor was fabulous. The steak itself? Heavenly.Such an amazing place.

The Winter Palace of the Bogd Khan, ruler of Mogolia or the Bogd Khan Palace Museum is a museum complex located in Ulan Bataar, Mongolia. It was the Green Palace of the eighth Jebtsundamba Khutughtu, who was later proclaimed Bogd Khan, or ruler of Mongolia. It is the oldest museum, which houses the biggest collection of historical objects in Mongolia. The palace is the only one left from originally four residences of the Bogd Khan.

Only happened by it walking but i thought it was so fascinating, the cultural design, architecture all derived from years of Mongolian empire which once was much larger and far more spectacular then any of its time.Good reads include babaars history of mongolia and the travels of marco polo.

The abode of last emperor or shall I say king of Mongolia. Not a very big palace but his collection of stuffed animals is impressive. I personally prefer the display in Choijin Lama museum which was built for his younger brother and is similar to this place.Very few tourists but that is a big positive for me. We visited this on our walk back to the city from Zaisan memorial. If you are hungry, there are some very nice eating options just across the road.

If your wondering how one of Mongolias kings lived in the winter then you can relive it here. Its worth a look but its only that. Overall for people who like history and monarchs life, I would suggest it.

A cool historical museum to understand and see how life was in Mongolia before. Lots of religious portraits and art to be found inside, with a few life sized animals that the khan owned.

Small but nice. If you expect something old, beware: This entire complex was build in the late 1800s and early 1900s. The Khans large collection of stuffed animals is a part of the exhibition.

Great place to understand the culture and heritage of Mongolia and the history of the past King and Queen of Mongolia. However, not alot of English translation available especially for the indoor exhibits. Phototaking is also not allowed within the premises. Show your student card for a sizeable discount!

You ought to go check it out. Sure its full of old stuff. But it is full of the old cultural things like beautiful clothing, Royal Dels, taxidermy birds collection of rare birds from around the world. Old art and just very interesting. Short tour give yourself 1 to 1 1/2 hours . And then take a walk down to the river and take in some fresh air and sceenery!

Disrepair winter palace due to the notorious Buddhism corruption, censorship and greediness. The staff ordered me to remove photos after I took photos outside of the palace, not inside. There is no signed post of no photography permits outside of the palace. Mongolia still carries Communist mentality to censor foreign tourists from taking photos in historical sites, museums and temples. Disappointment because of limited displays and disrepair condition.

My favorite museum in the city. Walking through the Palace of last King of Mongolia and imagining the daily lives 100 years ago. Not so many places in thus country has kept its former condition like this house museum, almost everything else was ruined during Soviet time. There are museums thats beautiful but this left me feelings afterwards, maybe its because I am Mongolian

A few rules if you want to be a good cultural ambassador: dont take pictures (its a sacred place for Buddhist peopleand pay at the entrance to the building on your right as you walk in. They dont advertise that very well and I walked right by accident and had to pay later!

Many ancient art exhibitionsCome to this place for art, not for the temple.Because the temple is really dry so most wooden architecture are cracking, there are parts being repainted but very little. No photos inside the area unless paid.

Its the late Mongolian King who was a Buddhist monk, his singer palace turned into museum. The famous sword he bent with his mental power resides here but only shown on special occasions and certain times of the year. Ask the museum people for those days.

Another good place to visit in Ulaambataar. There are some lovely pieces of authentic buddhist art and iconography that survived the cultural purge. This can be a little tricky to find in situ in Mongolia so definitely worth a visit. Its a little pricey and if you want to take photos or videos you have to pay a great deal more. The museum has explanations in English and provides some great insight into the reign of the last Khaans.

The winter palace is surrounded by temples that are now filled with art. It is all nice, though there are issues. To take photos you have to pay 6 times the entrance rate. Half the information signs are hidden behind railings. The exhibition hall was just unavailable for some reason. One of the temples was had its art removed. There was no literature for anyone who doesnt read mongolian about the winter palace
