Works from van Gogh to Warhol & beyond plus a sculpture garden, 2 cafes & The Modern restaurant.
I have to give it 5 stars. I mean, the collection is insane. This is on my top 3 museums globally. However, it is a lot. You will get super tired and spend a lot of time if you like art. I would recommend starting from up to down and taking a break to grab something to eat on the cafe or the rooftop. I was short in time so I did not do that and I was mentally exhausted by the time I left. The store is good but lacks a bit of variety in the cheap souvenirs.I am old fashioned in museums and would rather have a printed map.Global students pay half price ($14). Student ID is required but they did not look mine particularly. It was busy in a Tuesday so I can only imagine the weekend. Still completely comfortable to walk through and no line at any moment.
This is one of the most interesting and dynamic museums in New York! 👍They are always changing exhibitions, offering different and new experiences to all of us.This is one of our “mandatory” stops in New York because there always something new to enjoy! The staff is super friendly and atmosphere is full of art and innovation.100% recommended 👍
Fantastic collection, audio guides of most major pieces of art available on your phone, and free WiFi to access it without any restrictions. Well designed flow to the entire exhibit, and clearly signed so you know where to go, staff were friendly and willing to help when asked. They also have a wonderful, and tranquil outside space. The cafe is even quite decent albeit expensive.
Great museum for the whole family! The kids will especially be thrilled with all the dinosaurs’ section on 4th floor. Just set aside some good 3-4 hrs to visit this museum. It’s huge!
First Friday of the month is free! If you are into art or think that you want to create art, then look no farther and visit this museum. There will be questionable pieces that will create dialogue within what you consider art and there will be others that youll be in awe of how it was made.Regardless if you like art or not, it is a place for all to visit at least once.
It’s worth planning out your trip before visiting, especially if there are a multitude of temporary exhibits. For the best experience, start from the top and work your way down. The Van Gough and Warhol rooms are annoyingly overcrowded, with people keeling over each other to take a photo, but such is the price of fame. It’s a wonderful space. Could spend days here.
Absolutely amazing museum. Words cannot describe how awesome this place is. Van Gogh, Dali, Kahlo, Picasso, Rousseau, Warhol, just to name a few. Wish we could have stayed longer than 3 hours. Honestly could have probably stayed there all day. Highly recommend and hope everyone has the opportunity to enjoy such an awe inspiring museum.
So much to see! I went on their free Uniqlo Friday nights, and the vibes are really nice, with the live DJ and bar.The architecture of everything is also stunning.Theres so much to see there that Ill definitely need to go visit more often to really take it all in!
You cannot go wrong, come visit and you won’t regret. There are 4 towers and realistically you can probably see 1 tower before needing a coffee break. If you power through you might be able to see it all in one day, but most likely need more than 1 visit to see everything.
It’s a beautiful museum but it’s literally a maze. There are paper maps and digital maps to guide you throughout the museum. Starts off dull on the first two floors but by the third floor it’s got much better. They several popular works in the museum and Al of them are original works. The downside is that it is extremely crowded and you’ll feel like a sardine. I’ll recommend but to come right when they open to actually enjoy it. I’ll come back again for sure. They also have a student discount with a student identification.
Wonderful Museum. They have some of the most famous impressionist paintings on display along with a lot of more contemporary art. The exhibits here are very diverse, you can easily spend hours wandering through the different rooms.
An incredible museum. If you are visiting NYC and you haven’t been to MoMa then it’s a must. The museums is big, with a great collection, so it’s better to start early. You can even book your ticket in advance in order to avoid the queue.I would have liked to have a map (on paperof the museum. Maybe they did have but weren’t visible when entering. Each floor has a huge collection of modern art. I would recommend to start from the last floor and go down. The lighting in almost all rooms is excellent which allows you to take good pictures of the exhibits.Side note : People are loud (it’s not like a European museum or gallery). On the west side there is a nice rooftop-cafe where you can also eat.Don’t forget to visit the downstairs outside area. Each floor can be chaotic, be mindful and don’t miss any rooms. Try to see the numbers of each room you enter. (He seems the actual map could have been useful)The shop is nice too! You can find nice gift ideas. I was surprised that they didn’t have a bigger postcard collection.Overall an amazing experience! I would definitely visit MoMa again.
We visited on a Friday afternoon so the museum was packed. Not sure if its always the case but a lot of the restrooms werent usable.Enjoyed my first two hours until more people came pouring in and it got a bit stuffy in there. Will probably pick a better day and time to visit again next time.
Great museum. The floor plan is a bit poorly designed. The artwork is not distributed well. Some floors have a lot of artwork and some are scarce. The toilet is clean and plentiful. There are a lot of seats throughout the museum. The outdoor space is also nice. Overall its a good museum but there are a few things that can be improved for a better experience of visitors.
One of my favorite spots in NYC. This museum is a good place to renew your creativity and get inspiration for new things in life. You can find a lot of art pieces with different concepts.Be ready to walk a lot in his 5 floors and open your mind to see incredible pieces and maybe others pieces that will not. Modern art always bring to us new interesting exhibitions.
I am not really someone that can appreciate art very well, but i can tell that its great! There are lots of interesting art pieces, that get belittled in my opinion. Most people are there for the starry night after all.But yes, the fact that this very building contains one of the most popular paintings in the entire human history is insane to think about. The cafe at the top floor:The staff are very nice. Its a bit expensive, but that is to be expected from one of the most important art museums. The museum shop:Its a shop with a lot of nieche things. Some of them have literally nothing to do with art. (example stylophone, roll out piano, etc)Do i recommend it?Only if you are a real art freak. I reviewed it one additional star because of the restaurant.Museum:6.6/10 (because im not into modern art)Restaurant:7.8/10
Beautiful museum! A must see when in New York. There is an extensive but very well curated art selection - from paintings and sculptures to multi-media. They have pieces by great artists such us Van Gogh, Matisse and Pollock. The space is stunning and has a very nice layout so it doesn’t seem crowded. Also as a student you get a discount so don’t forget your student ID!
I had wanted to visit for so long and when I finally did, I was not disappointed! So many amazing and ground breaking pieces all beautifully displayed. I stayed for hours and will definitely go back. The museum store is also great - so many gift ideas and things youll want to bring home.
The MoMa is just amazing. Every single time we learn something new, discover new artists and have a great time. We started our visit around noon and stayed until the museum was closing. The cafeteria is always busy, but we didnt have to wait much. Bring a jacket and long trousers if you get cold easily, theres a strong AC.
A must-visit when in New York, you can’t leave the city without paying a visit to the MoMA.There’s so much to see: my recommendation is to start on the top floor and make your way downstairs through the exhibits. The gift shop is a special treat at the very end of the visit: here you can find extraordinary presents for family and friends.
I dont really think theres enough that can be said about MoMA. The museum curated and appeals to so many different styles of art disciplines that one could spend several hours over several days and still feel like there was more to discover and experience. This was my first time visiting and to be honest every time Im in New York itll be a stop just to experience what new and exciting features they have to offer. If your in the city and you appreciate art, definitely worth a visit.
The first Friday of the month is free for local New Yorkers to visit but you need to book the tickets in advance. Also they have free pen and paper and even chairs for visitors to participate drawing. The terrace cafe was pretty good. In the evening they have DJ music and open bar in the garden. It was very chill and fun. I love the activities and interaction that they offered. I like this museum better than Guggenheim.
Had an incredible time, saw some of my all time favorite art pieces. The MoMa store is awesome. Prepare to be amazed. The staff was a bit inattentive and physical guides are appreciated as everyone is not tech savvy. Overall great experience. You need a good 4-5 hours to see every floor and take time to really enjoy the exhibits.
The Museum of modern art really makes you look at many things in a different way. Some of the pieces were very outlandish and thought provoking, while others were mundane yet done in such a way that makes you rethink your own realities. Although many can enjoy the classic art mediums like paint and photography, i did also enjoy the different sculptures and the architecture of the museum itself. Was it weird? Yes. Intriguing? Yes. Will I be going again? Definitely yes.
Excellent exhibits, can spend all day covering wide range! Go back again and again to enjoy new exhibits periodically. Pics were taken in Aug21. They had extensive Picasso exhibits in addition to many by post impressionist artists. If interested it offers free admission on specific days need to check online. Took almost an hour standing outside in lines on a rainy busy day even after purchasing tickets in advance. Perhaps the rain made everyone shelter in the museum???
As always this is a great venue. We went specifically to see the Matisse Red Studio exhibit and it was excellent. The renovated courtyard and cafe were also an added plus to our visit. We recommend the museum and this exhibit highly and give it five clams on the coveted Five Quahog Rating Scale.
One of the best museums in NY, you can find all kinds of art, from Van Gogh to Pollock…The building itself has amazing views of the buildings outside.Go early and on a week day so that the museum is not that full.
An essential Manhattan destination. The recent renovations made it brighter. Supreme people watching. Temporary exhibitions tend to tell good stories. The greatest hits feel worn but provide a measure of comfort upon repeated viewing. One of the few trusted escapes out of midtown. Superb backdrop for catching up with friends. Perhaps too gramable for its own good.
Head straight to the top floor! Famous stuff is here, and it’s get more modern as you descend floors. Beautiful building, nice collections, but almost all the best one and so the crowds are concentrated at the top. Very expensive to enter compared to European equivalents (the uk museums are all free!)
Came here on a Saturday for my birthday weekend and had a great time! The museum is so spacious that even on a busy day, you have your own space to move around and admire the artwork. You dont realize how many exhibits there are from the outside! I absolutely loved being able to see Starry Night in person! Definitely one of the most anticipated paintings in there, so expect to wait a few minutes before seeing it up close and taking a photo!
A very well presented art museum. The works of so many immortalized artists from across time and the world are made available here to the public. The self-guided audio tour (available on your phone via a URL or scanned QR codesis SO helpful. Navigation could be improved (between artworks and the layout on the webpages).Floor5 and Floor4 are your highlights. Easily you could spend 2.5 hours on just those two floors. Two cafes exist, as well as two gift shops. Toilets are very clean and accessible. Water fountains could be improved; the water pressure was low and you had to get close to the spout to consume water.
Very nice collection of Art. Loved seeing Starry Night, Warhol, and Picasso. I marked 4 stars vs. 5, because they do herd you out the door 5 minutes before closing time and do not offer a discounted rate if you only come for the last hour.
I definitely have to start by saying I do not know/understand modern art so I should say that if you are looking for a nice museum while in NY where you can appreciate a lot of different art styles, definitely avoid this and go to the MET instead. As this (the MoMAis such a world renowned museum, I was expecting so much more compared to just a few of the most famous pieces (last pictures). The only art worth seeing is located on the fifth floor and it can all be seen in less than an hour, with the rest of the museum not even taking another full hour. Most of it was of course modern art (first pictureswhich is probably not what many people would expect to see unless you’re really into it. Overall it doesn’t look like the pieces are very well conserved (some pieces are stored inside glass cases but then the most precious ones can literally be touched if someone really tries to), lack of security screening at the entrance and rude staff throughout the whole museum didn’t make the experience any better.
Not worth 25$ and not comparable to European modern art museums such as Tate Modern or Centre Pompidou which are also much more affordable / partially free.Out of 6 floors, only 4 had open exhibitions. On 2 floors there were museum shops and creative rooms, and very few artworks. A few rooms were half empty (not under maintenance, just with empty space on walls).Collections were not curated logically, chronologically or by theme. Confusing room architecture without any advice on how and where to start. Visitors had to cross some rooms multiple times to see all the artworks.Overall very disappointing and not worth the hype or the money.Pros: restrooms were clean, there were enough chairs and banks to sit.
It was worth it. Art works from amazing and highly recognized artists, hundreds of different paintings to see… I really enjoyed it, I can even say one of the best art museums in new York. In fact, to have gone there in covid times, we didn’t have to wait not even 5 minutes to enter. But I recommend to get your ticket online :)
I must see if youre visiting New York on a rainy day. You can spend a good three or four hours here looking at the history of modern art and its progression. There are a lot of significant pieces here that change the history of modern Art. The building itself is a piece of art.
Visiting the MoMA is an incredible experience. You may enjoy this museum at your own speed, be it fast (approx 2 hoursor much longer depending on how much time you have.I highly recommend to purchase the tickets online even if you are literally in front of the museum. It saves you the waiting line to purchase them inside. There are some beautiful pieces of Picasso, Van Gough, Pollock and many more to see.
My new favorite art museum. There’s about 6 levels and over 400+ rooms of art here 🤯 — from sculptures, paintings, to multi-media. I loved the versatility of projects and exhibits. They’re were all veneers present too. It was just an amazing experience. They have cafes (but no food/water are allowed in the museum), a bar, and stores. The whole establishment is so clean and tidy.We spent about 2hrs and didn’t even see everything. It’s easily a 4hrs adventure if you have to time to spare.I left inspired and refreshed. It was $25/per person and there is security.
A good mix of different, inspiring and impressive art pieces from the very famous and less famous. They all have a story to tell no matter how old or new. A nice place to get away from the big city to find calm and space for reflection.
Its a surprisingly quiet museum. Went on a Saturday afternoon and none of the exhibits felt like it was packed with people. Also, I think the art is rather more thought provoking and less of a shock of the senses. Its quiet but contemplative. So I think its not appealing for people that are looking for Instagram moments. But really great for people that are looking for a chance to ponder about a piece of work.
Really enjoyed visiting! We were able to quickly enter the museum with ease. Exhibits there were very interesting, and seeing Starry Night was definitely the highlight of the museum. Overall, MoMA was not too busy and the online ticketing experience was very convenient.
This was our first visit here and we were not disappointed. Incredible range of art, spread across a number of floors. Found some art I knew and lots I didnt. Really spacious and clean gallery, which also had a great gift shop and cafe.
Big museum you could easily spend a day. I certainly like the top floor themes best. As it progressed it got more modern and contemporary which isnt the art I like.Ocerally great price and must visit. So many rare pieces are housed here which I didnt know like Salvador Dali, Monet and Van Gogh!
My recommendation is you start at the top, the 5th floor, then work your way down. Because the top floor has the majority of the prized pieces of art, while the lower you go it becomes more recent art, some of which is baffling in its placement in the museum. Some are interesting, some less worth your time.Still, more than worth it to see paintings like “The Starry Night” by Vincent van Gogh.
I loved my visit. Entry was fast and easy all while following the COVID protocols. The art is diverse. The staff is very helpful. I recommend membership, thats what I did.
Our teenage daughter wanted to visit here and bobs if us were disappointed. The differing levels took some navigating but in the end we hit round the whole place having seen some classic, impressive and out there artworks. Definitely worth a visit but spare yourself at least 2 hours for a quick visit.
Highly recommend visiting MoMa if you like contemporary art. Visiting the building its an experience itself. I think you need at least 3 hours to tour the museum. The shop is a must-stop!
Wonderful exhibition of art in its different times, you have 5 floors (for nowof a wide variety of works by great artists. It is easy to walk between the different rooms as they are all connected to each other. I recommend that you have time to walk in detail each one of them. It is an incredible experience.
Located in a beautiful building in Manhattan this museum has some of the best pieces of modern art. I was a student at the time when I visited and I am glad that I had my student card on me to get a discount. As many other museums I usually pay attention to resting areas such as restrooms!, cafe and seating areas for this one I give them a 5 star. although the cafe and seating area was busy but I managed!
One of the finest collections of art and above all in one place. It needs one full day to experience the art displayed here. All covid protocols are strictly followed and proof of double vaccination is required to enter the museum.
