Absolutely wonderful, Joes knowledge of Irish rural life amazing. Native Irish speaker. I would highly recommend a visit and give yourself plenty of time to view all the items there.
Interesting collection of tools, machinery, documents, maps, furniture and memorabilia from the past. Knowledgeable and helpful owner.
A great museum with so much history. Lots of information to read & so many historic things to see. Give yourself a few hours to see it all if history is your thing. Joe is so knowledgeable & has done a great job with this place & even took time to show us around. Well worth a visit
Well worth a visit lots of interesting artifacts. Stuff that some people may remember in use. Joe is very interesting and knows his stuff.
Very interested place and it free
Had the place to ourselves and a guided and very informative tour from Joe. Fantastic. Highly recommend it.
A brilliant unique snapshot of history. Joes experience is worth the visit alone, especially for the stories and information that has dropped out of common knowledge. The way the objects are juxtaposed help with understanding how they were used, and he has furnished the building himself with local materials which is an extra lovely touch. Free entry, but please leave a donation so he can continue his work!
Absolutely the best down to earth conversation with Mr Whelan. Loved it!
Quaint
Visited this museum 2 days ago with 2 adults and 5 kids between 6 and 15. Joe Whelan, the owner and local businessman, met us at the door and stood by our sides and passionately explained to us what he has collected from rural Ireland since ca 1850. This museum has left a lasting impression on me and I would love to return to have time to read some of his highly interesting documents kept from the past. My children liked the old school bench and looking into old textbooks. Well done Joe. This is a credit to your hard work! This museum is free of charge but you can leave a donation if you like.
