Central London Wetherspoons named after George Orwell's fictionalised ideal public house.
Super location and nice touristy atmosphere. They had run out of all the cheaper beers but was happy with my 89p tonic water! Great quick drink after the theatre.
was going to give 0 stars but claudia the bartender was so unbelievably good at her job and hilarious too that i had to give 5 stars ! great customer service
Probably the most expensive Wetherspoon pub in London, cashing in on cinema and theatre goers. On the plus side it did have a good selection of real ales due to their seasonal beer festival theme.
Claudia was a wonderful bartender and really ameliorated my experience. She served me and my group with optimum efficiency. I really enjoyed the atmosphere of the pub, especially as a tourist to London.
Nice place, relatively quiet for a Friday morning breakfast. Everything you’d expect of a Wetherspoons
Just finished work at 11 wanted one pint after a hard days work. Online shows as being open until 11:30. Actually told in not a polite way that it closes at 11 even tho Google shows 11:30
Friendly staff, great location, plenty of room but many food menu items not available.
Terrible experience and terrible waiter. Let you pay and then asking your ID so that when you don’t have it on you (even a picture does not workhe just takes your drink back and force you to leave without any refund.
The place is just like other spoons. Not many food available on the night I went and price is above and beyond other spoons across the country. I suppose Im paying a premium for its location.
The most beautiful customer service providing pub with its own authentic values. Lovely food ..... Friendly ambience....
Everything overpriced, cider was watered down, tasted more like juice. Food very expensive. Same meal would cost £4.95 at home instead of 11.95 and it didnt taste nice at all. Cold beans. Sat quite near the toilets at the back as they was the only seats available, it smelt horrendous, absolutely awful smells that put us off our lunch. However when entering the toilet, the toilet was clean and didnt smell so unsure where its coming from, perhaps the ladies? But it needs addressing. Friendly staff. Just seems abit of a dump.
Lovely lively but never any seats..... you get one person with a coffee on free refils on a big table for hours... when I want to feed 4 of us
Nice pub right in Leicester Square. Good food at great prices. A few tables outside. Friendly staff with good service.
Great hot breakfast value for money.
Right in center of Leicester square if your lucky get a seat outside and do some people watching.
Sat at a table. Ordered food and drink from the app. (No need to queue at the bar for ages like you have to in other pubsService quick. Hot and tasty food. Reasonably priced especially for London!
Vastly different from The Moon Under Water I am used to in Cheltenham. Perfectly situated in Leicester square, good prices considering, bit difficult to get a seat, but a nice place to relax in the middle of a visit to London.
Your tipical wetherspoon experience at Leicester Square. You should be lucky if you do find a seat. Cheaper than the neighbouring pubs.No experience with food.
Not up to Whetherspoons standards - which are not high.Poor and slow serving, the food was just thrown onto the plate...no consideration.
A Wetherspoon in one of Londons busiest spots - Leicester Square. There is a - relatively small - outside seating area on the pedestrianised square. I think there were about 9 tables - closely arranged due to the inevitable space restrictions of the property boundary. It seems a relatively small pub - by Wetherspoon standards. Some are much bigger.Very pleasant and helpful staff - they usually are.I ordered 2 drinks and snacks. The gents toilet is one of the smallest Ive encountered in a Spoons. My visit was during a particularly busy time in. London, so my expectations were modest.
It’s a Wetherspoon pub. I’d say good prices but the last time I went, the prices went up to regular pub prices. No more sensible prices I guess. £6.75 for a Leffe pint.
Paying premium prices due to the location ( twice the price of a pint compared to my Local spoons)...however, the staff were great, service prompt and food prepared quickly. Pretty good.
Nice place for drinks and simple pub food. The portions are good size, the price is amazing for central London. However, the place is always busy. You have to be patient to find a table
We eat here everytime we come to London for the exceptional food.Unfortunately, it seems to have declined.I had the BBQ burger and it was very dry. The onion rings tasted like they had been made yesterday and were under a warming light for the past 24 hours. My wife had the chicken salad with just a few pieces of chicken.I hate giving bad reviews but it just wasnt a meal I would recommend for anyone.
Usual JD bar packed up with people. Service was good. It is always nice that you can order on your mobile phone and you dont need to pay service charges.
This was well over priced for Wetherspoons, £6.19 for a cider (normally no more than £3)£9.50 for 2 strikabombs (normally £5)£17 bottles of wine (normally no more than £10)The premises itself could do with a good refurbishment, especially the toilets. Not impressed I’m afraid.
Nice pub in busy central London, good service and staff are friendly. Served quick despite it being very busy at 9pm on a Friday night. Might be hard to find a seat if you want to eat.
Very good pub in the heart of Central London. No food was available even though we were that 8pm. Very nice outdoor area which shuts at 9:30pm.
Beware of rip-off drinks!!!... I realise that its in Leicester Square but my wife and I sought this pub out as theyre renowned for being the cheapest for a pint. NOT THIS ONE!!! Our regular round in our local Spoons costs just over a fiver at the moment. Same round here cost over £12!!!.. Upon questioning the barman about the prices, he flippantly just told me that the prices have just gone up. When I showed him his own drink price menu, he said that they were the old prices, not the new ones. I begrudgingly paid so that I could get the receipt and threatened the manager with trading standards, as its illegal to advertise one price and then charge a higher one. He wasnt bothered, hence this review. BUYER BEWARE...
They didnt have things on the menu that we asked for.Mad busy and difficult to get a table.Food was okay . Staff good and hard working
Probably normally good but when I visited they had run out if most drinks. I have never been to a pub that only has one soft drink and less than half there normal taps running.
Been here a couple of times. Staff are so miserable, and un-friendly.Our most recent visit we with our puppy, sat down and ordered. 30 minutes later our order still hadnt arrived and a staff member named Shim informed us we had to leave because "no pets allowed. We were sat outside, and many staff members were collecting glasses, including shim, none of them mentioned the no pets allowed rule for the whole 30 minutes.Shim also said no Weatherspoons allow dogs, which is untrue. Every Weatherspooms weve visited with outdoor seating has said dogs are OK.
Having visited many wetherspoons, I have to say that the politics of admission and ordering in London, when you are with children, is stricter than other places in the UK. Saying that though, I was surprised to learn that the last orders for ordering childrens food (and allowing them to remain inside the pubalso varied between pubs in London (or according to a worker). We initially attempted to eat in one of the pubs a couple of nights ago, "The Metropolitan Bar", but we were informed after arriving to dinner shortly before 21:00 that last orders for children was 20:30, and that we had to leave shortly after this time (though they did let us stay for 20 minutes to have a quick drink).Today though at "The Moon under water" in Leicester Square, we were informed after arriving at 20:00 that we couldnt order anything because children werent allowed in after 20:00.I dont understand how there can be such a difference in ordering times between two pubs of the same chain, and in a close proximity. It felt as though the staff couldnt be bothered serving us, and wanted us out.TOTALLY DISAPPOINTED!!
I ordered chicken wrap with salad and chips, the wrap was very dry as hardly any sweet chilli sauce and half the chips were hard. Very humid inside so air conditioning would have been good. Chaps without shirts. Not for me. Only positive is the bar staff were helpful and friendly
Prices a bit more expensive than Keighley but the food was good and nice friendly staff.
We visited here twice during our short stay in London. We ordered food via the app. Service was great and the food was delicious. Sorry no pics of the meals as it isnt something I do. But they were very tasty and didnt have to wait too long for the meals. Definitely worth a visit.
I love this pub, its located right in Leicester Square which is a perfect location, its so clean and the staff are always friendly and for central London the prices are amazing! Every time I come to London I end up drinking at The Moon under the stars! Great little spoons, one of my go to places xxx
Central Leicester Square so the positioning is very good. Didnt eat here and it wasnt too busy. Coffee was nice. Again as with any spoons the place needs completely revamping, tired, paint coming off the walls etc. Toilets were clean but shabby. Other than that OK. Would eat there to try it out
A busy Wetherspoon pub in the heart of theatre land. Really good meals but one of the serving staff was impolite. I think maybe she was having an off day. But enjoyed the meal and atmosphere.
Just wanted a light lunch before going to the theatre. We both had wraps one was hallumi and the other southern fried chicken. Both had lots of crunchy fresh salad and such good value too. With non alcohol drink it was only £6.05 each. Will definitely go next time we go to the theatre.
Very busy Wetherspoons right on Leicester Square. You pay a little more for the pints than you do outside the centre but they are still reasonable (£4.19 for a guest beer). Considering how busy it was, the toilets were remarkably clean. Food is the usual Spoons fare but at the moment they do not seem to be serving their good value steaks. Good place to go for a quick snack and a beer before/after going to the cinema/theatre.
Little gem, snug within the bustling place that is Leicester Square but tell me where else can you get a pint of IPA for £2.49 and delivered via an app within minutes of ordering. Was impressed, will call again
Great location, food is good and prices are very reasonable, good beer and service is fast. You can order directly on the bar or using the restaurant web page and paying with PayPal (very efficient by the way).Is usually busy but you dont wait much to get a table.
Wide range of beer and food. A must visit in Hounslow.Much cheaper than other Bar, restaurants n Beer Gardens. You can actually taste the local beer before you buy. Let me tell you they are awesome 👍.
Prices great (your typical Wetherspoons!). The service was very quick. Easy to use the app to order. The portion sizes were good, however food couldve been a little hotter. Really enjoyed our breakfast here though.
Solid Wetherspoons, me and a friend visited for food and a whiskey, The Carling was very clean but the whiskey choices were a bit on the poor side. Nice seating outside which left us with a nice view of Leicester Sqaure.
Weve been here couple weeks ago ... food taste nice, prices are good, only half of menu was unavailable at about 1pm....Would say - a good but basic pub
Visited with my daughter before a show. Used the app to order and pay. You dont even have to have it downloaded on your phone, theres a scan code on the table! Service quick, staff friendly and efficient. Great food and good portion sizes.
As ever, great Wetherspoons menu and good value. First time Ive used the App which worked very well with swift service and easy payment via PayPal. The Wetherspoons brand provides an unbeatable formula for good value food and drink. If youre hungry I recommend the Large Mixed Grill, comes with a pint of your choice all for £12.95.Inside and outside seating at this venue
Perfect environment. Enjoyed a nice pint, didn’t have a meal but the local sharing my table said everything is always delicious. UPDATE came back had dinner. It was delicious! And it was ready quickly despite being rather busy on a holiday weekend. Staff was just as sweet as the first night. Like I said great atmosphere and great beer. Cool history of the name too for any bookworms out there ☺️in a nice area too!
