The Moon (2) Be Kind To Animals - Vegetarian restaurant in Chauk, Myanmar
Have been there 4 years ago and Im still thinking about the delicious food! :)
As it is really hard to find vegetarian food in myanmar we were more than happy to find the moon! Simple vegetarian food in typical burmese style - service was a bit clumsy but besides that we were very happy! Our recommendation: Tofu salad and the coconut curry!
We were there for dinner, ordered veggie burger which was pretty good, only disappointment was the fries, they are the same type like Mc Donald’s. Fresh veggie spring rolls are quite over priced, 4000kyats for 2 small thin spring rolls, even more expensive than in Bangkok.Sweet and sour veggies is good but nothing very impressive. In general this place is nice for vegetarian tho a bit expensive.
Amazing place! Great vibe! Great food! Green mango salad and tempura!!! The tamarind sweets are so tasty!!
Great food and very reasonable prices for the quality of the food. Coconut curry was soft and creamy, veggie kebab was also delicious. Try lime & mint juice, its a delight after whole day of riding bikes from temple to temple. One of the best looking restaurant weve visited in Myanmar so far.
A delicious vegetarian restaurant in New Bagan. It is situated in a quiet area off the main path beside some pagodas. The setting is lovely with lush greenery grown throughout the restaurant. We ordered the ginger lime juice and the dragon fruit mint lime drinks. Both were delicious. For food we had the spring rolls, vegetable curry, green bean salad and coconut rice. The flavours were excellent.Staff was welcoming and friendly. A great place to relax in a beautiful tranquil setting to enjoy a great meal with drinks in New Bagan.
It’s an above average vegetarian restaurant. Burgers are good and flavorful. Deco and services are great. If you want to do luncheon for Monasteries, ask for Sithu (restaurant managerfor help and direction.
Absolutely excellent. Beautiful food, lovely waitresses and waiters and very nice authentic interior. At the start the waiter gave us peanuts and handed out menus. For drinks we had ice lemon tea, lassies and mixed fruit juice all beautiful. We ordered vegetable tempura (our favourite), garlic naan, curries, rice and salads. After this we came back twice and it was always excellent. We highly recommend this restaurant.
It located quite isolated place, but the atmosphere and the food was nice. My friends really loved Traditional curry set with lacquerware dish. I had a vege burger which use the vege fry instead of patty. I would visit again when I go Bagan again later.
Nice restaurant with awesome food. The original menu is better than the salad. The only thing I dont like is watermelon juice, full of seeds.
Literally just left the restaurant and felt the need to review before I forget because they deserve a good review. The restaurant is beautiful, the staff are lovely and the vegetarian burger was insane! Probablly one of the best Ive ever had! Highly recommend.
This place offers really really good food! The staff was kind and sweet, and every single item we ordered was great, the dragonfruit juice being the highlight and a must have. We ate raw papaya salad, stir fry vegetables and green veg curry, followed by fried banana in honey which was spectacular!
Amazing vegetarian restaurant in a beautiful garden. Food is delicious, waiters are very friendly and attentive. Will definitely go back! Dont miss this if youre in New Bagan, especially if you are vegetarian or vegan.
Beautiful meal. Went there twice, and I rarely repeat restaurants in trips. Absolutely the best meal we had in Bagan.
Excellent green mango salad, potatoe salad and a veggie burger. Lovely English speaking staff. Buy the Tamarind sweets from the proprietor. They are great for digestion.
Succulent food, warm place and team. Located on a quiet street of the new Bagan. We might come back.
Im in love with the lush plants and natural decor of the restaurant. Also in love with the veggie burger and tamarind leaf salad. Extra in love with the coconut milkshake. The first couple of sips can have small bits and pieces of shredded coconut but after that its smooth all the way ❤️
We liked this place a lot. Relaxed atmosphere, great service and very good food. Both our veggie burger and the vegetable curry were full of taste and very nicely served. The peanuts served as a starter and tamarind sweets after the meal are a nice touch too :They also have a selection of fresh juices. The prices are fair, about 5000k for mains.
Very traditional, very delicious and very kind to customer. Also the background sound is very nice.
Beautiful place and very good vegetarian dishes. Located in New Bagan its perfect for lunch/dinner or a juice break.
This place is really great.Food is amazing.
Im not a vegetarian, actually I eat meat almost everyday. Decided to come here, and give it a shot. They have a lot of very nice and creative dishes. I had no hard time picking something I liked, and everything was delicious. Atmosphere is really nice, too. Recommend!
If I can vote for the most beautiful place to eat in Bagan, I will choose Be Kind to Animals (The Moon). I’ve taste their Fried Noodle with Egg + Tofu, Ginger Hot Tea, and Ginger Juice. All were delicious! The service also fast and attentive. They gave us Tamarind candy at the end of our dinner and it’s so yummy, I can even buy one pack! Definitely high recommendation for me.
Great vegiterian restaurant. If your a meat eater, it wont be missed here where everything is fresh and delicious. A definite most when in Bagan.
Maybe the best vegetarian restaurant in Bagan. We ate here twice and both times were remarkable. I could totally recommend this place, they serve Thai-, burmese- and Indian cuisines (at leastand everything we had was amazing.Prices are quite reasonable, around 3500-7000 kyats for main dishes. Our biggest bill for two mains and drinks was 11 000 kyats.
Cozy place with delicious food. Amazing avocado salad. I think The Moon (2is better than the original The Moon.
Bigger and feels more like a formal restaurant than the highly ranked small family owned vegetarian restaurants in Old Bagan with as good flavours. Nicer venue but more expensive.
This is the best restaurant in Bagan. I definitely love the food and atmosphere. Everything is amazing. Forgot to take a picture.
Delicious vegan food with average price. Really nice and calm atmosphere. Loved it !
Food was very nice, affordable and its off the beaten path a bit, so youre not subjected to honking horns and speeding motorbikes as youre trying to eat. The massaman curry was nice. Also like their selection of music. Be kind to animals, people! - A meat lover
Relaxing spot away from the main road. View of a temple right next door, with polite staff and amazingly fresh food. High quality, varied vegetarian food - as well as air con for hotter days!
Incredible food! A must visit restaurant if you are in town. It has a great atmosphere and friendly staff to recommend beautiful dishes. As a non vegetarian myself but eating with vegetarian friends everyone was happy with the food and we came back 3 nights in s row. The cocktails were also great
Great veggie food in a lovely calm setting. We had tea leaf salad, spring rolls, tamarind leaf curry and a vegetable masaman curry. All were really tasty, the tamarind and tea leaf were especially memorable. Try the lime ginger and honey juice too.Oh and the tamarind sweets they bring you at the end of the meal are banging!!
Cozy place with tasty fresh food. I ordered two salads ( tea leaves salad and green papaya saladthey came with side dishes unlike other Burmese restaurants. But they were delicious. Ginger lime honey drink was also great. At the end they offered tamarind candies. They are so nice I had to buy the whole pack!
Really fresh and delicious food. Suprisingly good guacamole and must-try tamarind leaf salad. Good service and beautiful setting overlooking ancient pagodas
Great atmosphere, nice staff, would definitely return. I ordered a tea leaf salad and it was wayyyy too salty but the manager kindly offered to remake it. The second one was much better. I spent a couple hours here reading and relaxing. I had a good experience and at glad I made it to this restaurant for lunch!
My favorite restaurant in Bagan, everything is delicious and presentation of food is beautiful, staff is nice and friendly, atmosphere is cozy and casual. My favourites are vegetable chaptati, fried noodle with tofu & egg, dragonfruit juice with lime & mint, green beans & new potato salad.
This is, literally, one of the best restaurants I’ve ever tried. Their food is absolutely yummy: tasty and delicate at the same time. As a vegan, traveling thru Asia may be a bit of a challenge. Here, they offer plenty of ‘pure veg’ alternatives. Omnivores will be delighted as well. A MUST try if you’re in the Bagan area.
We ate here multiple times as the food was good and cheaper than other options. They have many vegetarian dishes to choose from. Our favourites were tomato and tofu curry, ginger salad and pineapple and coconut curry. Staff is very attentive and speak reasonably good English. Drinks are a bit pricey and in our opinion not worth it. This isn’t really a place where locals dine and is totally geared towards tourists so this isn’t really an ‘authentic’ Burmese restaurant. Will go back again and would recommend.
Great menu and lovely garden! The vegetarian food here is amazing. Wed recommend the green curry with rice or any of their other curries paired with coconut rice. The lassis are also phenomenal and the rabbit roaming around the garden is a bonus.
Pleasant vegetarian dinner experience today at Be Kind To Animals restaurant after our Bagan Temple hopping. My friend and I are staying at Thazin Garden Hotel, which is about 0.2 miles / 8 minute walk to the restaurant, and we wanted genuine Bagan foodploration that is not too far from the hotel. We were welcomed by the hostess with a warm smile. We tried Bagan Set Menu (which is good for two people that has about 5 food variety to choose from [see attached photo], curry soup, and a cup of rice), Vegetable Green Curry and Fresh Spring roll. Everything we tried was amazing-- fresh, flavorful and extraordinary. Ive been to numerous vegetarian restaurants and I must say this restaurant deserves a good review. The food servers were so hilarious and accommodating!Ask for their bar menu. They serve wine and some cocktails. Got Mojito for 3,500 kyat! Not bad!And last but not least, I would like to also include in this review the tamarind flakes they give out at the end, which is free by the way, is really good! And if ever you get to like them... I would like to let you know that they sell them in a bigger pack for 1,500 kyat (see attached photo).
Food was very good and set in a really nice garden. Tomato tofu curry and pumpkin ginger curry very good. The service was too attentive, the servers wait by your table whilst you look at the menu & whip your plate away almost as soon as you put your fork down. Not enough to put me off going back as the food was very good but an area for improvement.
Good place to enjoy vegetarian food. Service was little slow but staff is well trained. Food was decent.
Wasnt too hungry due to a late lunch but wanted to try the tea leaf salad, so I ordered that and a dragon fruit shake. Both were really good.
What crazily cheap prices for such an ambience! Incredible hide out in Bagan, almost feels like Ubud! A must go in Bagan, for vegetarians and omnivores alike.
The place is quiet at night with a relaxing ambience. The food and drinks are great. We tried the stir fried okra and the green mango salad. The coconut curry is good too. For drinks, we recommend the dragon fruit smoothie.
Very tasty vegetarian dishes in nice garden atmosphere. A bit more expensive though.
Delicious vegetarian restaurant in Bagan. A must visit if you enjoy great vegetarian options! And prices are so cheap. 3 of us ate heartily and paid about $15 USD. Incredible! We would come here again in an instant. Staff are very friendly and welcoming, and food is server promptly. Drinks are great, and the overall atmosphere is pretty amazing (especially when you realize that there are temples literally just across the road from the restaurant!)
Definitely the best veggie burger I had in years! Great service and good prices.Only ashamed that it is not as busy here as at The Moon in Old Bagan, while this one looks nicer
Awesome place to chill out. Evening could be more relaxing and romantic with oil lamps ,climate and place .I visit 2 time during my 2 night stay in Bagan. Food is gr8. Best is vegetarian. But they serve eggs.
