The food was excellent, the coffee perfect and the staff were attentive. We felt comfortable and unrushed to enjoy our time there. *Asked to update my review - still magnificent, still 5 Stars.

Food and drink were ridiculously expensive. My partner had a burger which made him ill after and it cost £25, he said it was not nice. Would not advise going, all the staff were laughing and chatting in the kitchen which is all we could hear. Very poor experience for how expensive it was.

I feel the place has become shabbier since I was last there pre covid. My food was mediocre (and I think they brought me the incorrect meal actuallybut others in my group enjoyed theirs. Staff were friendly and helpful, but I wont be rushing to return.

Visit for a special Mothers Day treat. Obviously the end of a very long day for the staff A few minor issues with wait time and the order but the service recovery skills and understanding shown by Ben were excellent. Food was very good - I wish it had been brought out all together though. The fajitas were good value and were very good indeed. Nice but not quite as good as Id hoped.

All in all 2 out of 5 and that’s because they staff were nice and the main was okay. But disappointing. Took ages for the starters to come, and when it did come m, the mains arrived while were having our starters. The food then stayed under the heat lamp until we finished. When I was choosing the red wine, the laddo came with filthy pants so it was a little distracting when he’s trying to present the red wine bottle. To top things off, ordered crime brûlée… when it came it was literally scrambled eggs!! 🤢Starter and wine selection good. The staff worked hard but it need proper management to run it property.

45 mins for drinks to arrive, 1 hour for food to arrive and that was barely warm. Put other peoples drinks in our bill so that had to be sorted. Could be worse though....table next to us had arrived before us and wed eaten and left but their food still hadnt turned up. Gone down hill has the place.

Ran out of pizza dough.. And cheese.. Which for 7pm on a Saturday isnt ideal. I feel that management could probably help the waitresses more as they seem very capable but need more help with organisation. The burgers were tasty though and we enjoyed the food we received!

Weve not been here for over a year and food was OK nothing to rave about, I had the mixed grill and it wasnt as good as last time I got it, and my sons sirloin steak was fatty. For the price wed paid Id wished we had gone to miller and carter.

Before covid it used to be one of our favourite pubs in the area. After today’s visit I have to admit they went downhill ever since. The red flag was nearly empty space on Friday night, had we paid attention! The menu didn’t have half of the meals, the ones remaining available had missing ingredients. We ordered a starter only to find out after some time that it wasn’t available, okay that happens. The Caesar salad had croutons that must’ve been deep fried, so oily, seriously - how can you possibly make this salad wrong? The chicken from the mixed grill tasted like it’s been microwaved. No thank you, we won’t be coming back I’m afraid..

Very disapointed with the christmas day meal.. No decorations of any kind on our table not ever any crackers..Had no xmas feel to the place.. Took ages to get a order in for our 1st drink..The food was ok but the main course was luke warm.. The female toilets were disgusting.. For a table of 6 to pay almost £600 it wasnt what we expected.. The added £60 service charge was soon taken off as the service was poor

Service was slow and had to go up and grab staff attention a couple of times to order drinks. Got seated at 2pm, starter came about 3pm, main around 4pm. Food is ok but probably overpriced for what it is.

No wonder we were the only table in. Family of 6 4 adults 2 children. More staff than customers and yet the service was terrible waited over half hour for drinks then another 10 minutes on top to take our food order. Starters were nice and fresh main meal was like a re heated leftover sunday lunch served on a monday. Lager was flat and then we were over charged on the bill and no apology given once their error had been pointed out. No atmosphere and no conversation from any of the robot like young staff.

We have just been for a family Sunday Lunch, 2 sets of Grandparents our daughter and the 2 grandsons. Although billed as a steak house there is a comprehensive menu to suit all tastes along with a kids menu with plenty of choice. Most of us chose from the Sunday menu choosing beef pork or turkey, I went for the sea bass. The boys chose a burger and chicken nuggets. The food came promptly, the portions were generous and everything was hot and tasty, their Moody Cow gravy was apparently delicious . We followed this up with a selection of desserts that went down very well. All this lovely food came with some really excellent service provided mainly by Lenina but with support from some of her colleagues who were equally attentive. Add into this the excellent value for money and I would definitely return and will be recommending this place

Will not be returning. Service slow, service charge added to bill probably because they know tips wont be left. Mushroom stroganoff left an awful lot to be desired. Mainly peppers and onions. Sea Bass was excellent though. Whole place needs a serious revamp imo.

Ordered nachos to share which cost £14 and they were from a packet as we saw them place them in the bowl, when your paying prices like that you expect them to be homemade, cheese was really hard and most of nachos was stuck to the bowl. Had a burger which was average not much flavour. That place has gone downhill would not return.

Booked a table for 26th May for 2. Liked the option when booking that you can choose the occasion. I picked "date" as it was the first time me and my partner had been out for ages and was so looking forward to this! On arrival we were seated in the conservatory which had 2 groups of very loud tables of 4 and was freezing cold (i was set next to the radiator which wasnt on). The table of 4 lads next to us were swearing ect and we wanted a quiet meal. I asked to be moved (i was shivvering it was that coldand we were moved inside the main part. It was still cold. Next to where we were sat was a chicken bone on the floor that staff kicked and stood on yet nobody picked it up. Food was lovely but partners steak was undercooked but he could eat it and i had the fajitas but you only get 2 wraps which went cold and hard very quickly. Also service charges added to bill which i think it out of order as wouldnt have left that much of a tip. Also seating was not 2m apart! I could touch the chair of the person sat on the next table! Shame as food was nice just not quite up to normal standards.

Very very good. Food was beautiful. Had the salt and pepper chicken to start and a burger for main - both were delicious. Service was very good and outdoor seating area was warm. Only marginal let downs were the road noise from being outside and a half built outdoor area- but cant mark them down for something out of their control!

Was felt disappointed with the meal overall. After hearing good things about Moody Cow I was expecting the opposite. We ordered Nachos, salt and pepper strips, Pulled pork cheese burger and a normal cheese burger. When first came I was delighted at a big burger and well presented, however the burger was dry, not juicy like others. There was a big bit of meat, but I think think this was the problem the way it was cooked it was left as a dry bit of meat and not what you want in a burger, if not for the pulled pork it could of been worse. The chicken strips were nice, but the strips themselves were small pieces of chicken so not much there. The nachos were the biggest frustration and disappointment. It came in a big try container, however the cheese was all in the middle mostly, not evenly spread out, so alot of nachos with none on. You got three different pots of toppings which was good, instead of put on for you, but the nachos dried quickly and then they stuck and set to the silver tray. When trying to get out a chip, they all just snapped at the ends and broke as they seemed glued to the tray and set. I have had better nachos from a local take away. All in all was disappointed as Moody Cow is supposedly meant to carry a good name and I was expecting it to be above average being a meat place, however the burgers were better from Slap and Tickle for a similar price, alot more juicy and softer...shame really, if it had of been just one thing it could have been a 3 and half Star, but due to two main things and then small chicken pieces, it has to be a 2 overall.

Very nice food! I had the mixed grill. They still had some kind of help out to eat out discount when we visited on a Tuesday in September 2020 that they took the hit on? (Government should be helping out more! Felt very safe with screens around tables.Friendly staff good atmosphere despite these horrible times.

The food here is very good. The portions arent massive, but I didnt come away hungry, or feeling like I was going to burst, I always feel Im getting my moneys worth if the plate is full, but thats just me. The place itself is very nice, although the two times Ive been Ive been seated at the same table, directly opposite the kitchen, and it lacks a bit of atmosphere. The only reason I havent given 5* is because the menu was smaller than the first time I went, but I would still highly recommend!

Abysmal customer service from the manager and shocking food. Ordered a simple Cajun chicken burger for my pregnant girlfriend and it came pink. We complained and the manager took it back and came back and said the chef said it was cooked through. Manger then came offered no alternative or anything. Just took the chefs side then brought the food back with no knife and fork. See the image below. It’s pink.

First time going there and we came in with high hopes after loads of great referrals. We were disappointed.Took ages to get food ready, and when it finally came it was easily one of the worst chateaubriand Ive ever had.I hear the food used to be fantastic, but I imagine the current situation has had its toll even on this place. I may go again, but only if Im told the food has improved. In the plus side, the Moody Cow Bitter is worth drinking.

Went to valentines evening meal, wasnt expecting a set menu, but it had a really good selection on there and for £35 per head we thought it was very good value. Service was excellent, the little booth was nice and intimate but the food was fantastic, as was the bottle of malbec we washed it down with. Very impressed

Food was good 5 star on 2 of the 3 meals we bought, service from kitchen was delayed over 45 minutes from order to receiving starters. When the main course arrived about 1 hour 20 minutes after order 2 fillet steaks were great one was undercooked, asked to re-fire and it would take 8 minutes, but actually took 20 and was undercooked again. By this time two meals had been finished, so sat waiting for 3rd steak to be redo. Kitchen has let down the rating on this occasion, service by waitress was good and the manageress looked after us by comping the fillet they messed up. Not a great first impression for me, but my two dinning companions have been before few times and said its a one off on my visit.

Took the wife here for here birthday, the irony was not lost on her. I ordered the meat lovers burger. She had the chicken Kiev. She loved the fact that it came with a little jug of garlic butter and liked the fact the chicken was "really dense". Lots of chicken. My burger arrived with a steak knife rammed through it to keep the burger together. An 8oz Steak Burger topped with a medley of BBQ Brisket, Smoked Streaky Bacon, Chorizo and Piri Chicken topped with melted Cheddar and Onion Rings.I had to "deconstruct" the burger to eat it, it was ma-hoo-sive. Absolutely bloomin delicious. Wife loved chicken Kiev too. Staff were great manager on the night was really nice and had a really good chat with him. 100% going back there.
