18th-century pub offering contemporary rooms & dining, plus free Wi-Fi & continental breakfast.
A very nice London inn. The rooms are clean, well-furnished, and very reasonably priced. The staff were all extremely helpful. Highly recommended!
Cracking place. Very nice bar staff and a nice secret beer garden on the side! Good range of booze as well. Loverly Jubley!
Extremely disappointing experience, will never try again. After ordering our food ( it took forever to order because we have to ask for dish by dish if it was suitable for celiacs, and the waitress has to go and ask the chefand wait for more than one hour, I went to ask about our food. According to the waitress, the ched left (???so she cannot give us our food(*)... So, we were for more than 15h in the place in total and did not get any food... No clue for how long we would have been there if I didnt go to ask... Now we need to go to a different place and well not be able to enter the observatory because of the time. Unbelievable. It happened on Sunday 9/10/2022 and the place were half empty.(*We saw other people getting food -btw
One of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. Terrible food. Surly service. Serving staff seemed baffled that we wanted to split the bill and made a theatrical display of returning to the bar after each transaction. It’s almost like they are surprised you are there to eat. All food arrived together apart from one meal which then came 20 mins later when everyone had finished. Food had been heated in a microwave. Manager behind the bar laughing and joking with all the staff like everything is ok. Considering the cost of menu items and the fact it is a central Greenwich pub you would expect far higher standards. Avoid at all costs.
Great pub in the heart of Greenwich. Warm, cozy and cool decor whilst still be a traditional pub. Good music and atmosphere too. Plenty of beers to choose from. Friendly and nice staff!
Very pleasant, newly done decor and good beer. Mildly young / inexperienced staff which slightly prolonged interactions but they were very friendly.
Our three night long stay at the Mitre Inn was exactly what we wished for: a cozy and clean room in the city of London. Beyond that, the staff turned out to be extremely sweet and helpful in an emergency situation that we unfortunately found ourselves in one night: Our wallet got stolen in the city and the staff as well as the manager Tim were particularly helpful and understanding. We will definitely come back. Thank you again!
We went here for a Sunday roast. The food was mediocre, the service was awful and no one seemed to have a clue what they were doing. The managers were rude to the young behind the bar and they don’t take cash-which they don’t put signs up to tell you prior to paying.Wait times were also an hour for food. I’d never go back again and the worst place I’ve been to in a long time
Always have a great meal , the staff are helpful and accommodating esp with fussy children. Great find you will not be dissapointed.
Everything you expect from a nice pub. Cold drinks and a nice Sunday roast. A great option for those looking for a place to eat and drink in Greenwich.
Love this place. Come here whenever we’re in Greenwich, dog and kid friendly. Good selection of beer and lovely staff.
We did not stay here but visited the pub twice. The first time for a couple drinks in the back patio/garden area. We enjoyed the ambiance. Since the menu looked good, we came back a few days with our daughter for dinner. As an American, I am not used to ordering my own drink and food at the bar, but Ben could not have been more helpful. The beer was cold and there was a decent wine selection. The food was delivered to our table in a reasonable time so we did not feel rushed and did not feel like we were waiting. The staff was courteous (not always the case in the UKand followed up with us while we were eating. The prices were certainly in the range of what I would expect. After dinner we went back to the patio/garden for a couple more drinks (great spot). All in all a great experience. The staff was great and attentive. I only recall Ben’s name but there was another young man behind the bar and a women manager. All of them did a great job.
Popped in for a quick drink and ended staying for a few. The lad behind the bar - ben was very polite, friendly and attentive - great service a lovely find will definately be back
We spent good time at the Mitre, good food and great staff. Ben has been so helpful to adjust our request gluten free. Thanks buddy, see you soon.
Ordered the ‘pale ale battered cod and triple cooked chips’ - definitely not what I got. I got a piece of pre-battered (thick batterand frozen chips, not triple cooked fresh potato chips. I wouldn’t recommend for food based on my experience.
Went for a roast and was a massive let down. Vegetables and Yorkshire pudding were undercooked and cold. Would not recommend, especially with other options in the area.
The hotel is superb. Great bathroom & rain shower, but with hand held, variable option too. Large fluffy white towels & heated illuminated mirror. No excuses for not servicing the rooms, like in so many hotels now. All done as matter of course. Option was available if you didnt want the room servicing. Comfortable beds, plenty tea & coffee available in the room. Free, good quality wifi. Breakfast well worth taking. Hot plates, everything cooked to order to perfection. Friendly staff. Really great building in superb condition, of serious historic interest. Really made our trip. Competitively priced, so really great value
I am a regular at this great pub, good selection of beers, nice location, nice little beer garden made even better by all the exceptional and friendly staff, special mention to Ben, Jess, Alex, Karley and Laura
A lovely pub on the very heart of the village of Greenwich.Lovely team members with great knowledge of the history of the village and local venues. A especial mention to Ben and Mihaela for their great service.Im coming back soon for a pint and fish and chips.
Was quiet but nice outdoor seating, polite staff, not a bad glass of prosecco.
Nice atmospheric pub with lovely heated garden and impressive menu. Very good service from Ben especially. Will be coming back soon!
Interesting pub and Jackie with the green nails is a very friendly and helpful member of the team. If you are in the area you really should visit.
Stayed at the inn for two nights as it was the closest possible place to our friends’ wedding on the Cutty Sark. My room was clean, bright and lovely, obviously recently updated, with a comfortable bed, at a lower cost than any of the surrounding hotels. Despite the pub downstairs the room was nice and quiet. Breakfast in the morning was tasty and a good value. Highly recommend staying here.
Fantastic historic pub in the heart of Greenwich. Great selection of beers and spirits. Recommend Proper Job IPA
Friendly, welcoming staffSpotless hotel room - with much appreciated air con!Great central location.Lovely breakfast in the garden the next morning
Stayed one night in the hotel here, and it couldnt have been better. The room was spacious and comfortable, nicely designed without trying too hard, and air conditioned. The pub below was great, with a comfortable courtyard in the shade. Breakfast had full vegan options, as well as the standard full English and Belgian waffles. Best of all, it was clear everyone who worked there liked working there. Thanks so much for a wonderful stay!
At 9pm on a Saturday it was pretty dead. I was met with a "the kitchens about to close / you need a table number / find a menu" malarkey... I dont need a red carpet but I felt a bit like I was maybe interrupting 😂The staff were pleasant enough. The burger was odd - more like a burger shaped meatball from a corner shop.A burger and chips, one side, and one pint of ale came to £27.50 ... Far too expensive for the average quality and "staff cant wait to get home" atmosphere.Nice view of the church though, so an extra star for Hawksmoors architecture - a rare view that added a touch of sass to an otherwise completely forgettable pub. Maybe it was a bad night.
It was going to be a 1-star review but it got better. Booked for Sunday Roast, waited 40 mins as we could not order before it was "ready". A further half hour elapsed before it arrived on the table, and when it did it was mediocre. We were surprised as we had had good food there previously. We expressed our disappointment as we went to pay, but the bill was waived with acknowledgement that things were not as they should have been. So if like us, you go there and find its mostly empty when it should be busy, then they may still be having problems, but hopefully they will resolve them soon.
We stayed 2 nights and have already recommended to friends. Great location, lovely rooms and great pub. Cocktails were spot on. Food (both dinner and breakfastwere excellent quality. Staff were warm, professional and very helpful. We’ll definitely stay again
Its not easy to utterly ruin fish & chips but they managed it grotesquely! Due to the fact that the chef allowed this obviously overcooked dish to leave the kitchen clearly demonstrates they have neither shame nor talent. Service was useless too. There are other places in Greenwich. Choose any of them.
Really lovely pub with a nice space in the conservatory for my dads 60th. The food was pretty good, although they were missing a few items and had to substitute a few things.
We were here on saturday evening. The really nice server Tim gave us good advice on the right drinks to go with our food. We felt very well looked after and will definitely come back soon. Until next time!
Thought it would be quicker to use the app. Please don’t bother. Ordered 2 cocktails and paid. After 15 mins went to bar to chase and they had not received order. They informed me the app may have been busy. There was no one at the bar and 3 available bar staff. When cocktail’s finally arrived they were disappointing and could not taste alcohol. Over priced fruit water. Would not bother here again.
We had a room booking 13-15 June. Staff very friendly and helpful. Room exceeded our expectations. We were surprised by how little road noise we heard, despite having open windows. We didnt have time to try the food, but the menu looked very interesting. Maybe next time... Would certainly recommend to others
I ordered an average strength cask ale that was £5.60, which is just too much. However, my problem was that the beer was so ‘off’ that you could have put it on your chips. I refuse to drink in pubs that sell off ale so I got a refund rather than the alternative drink that I was offered. However, the ale in question was not taken off service and when I queried why with the lady working the bar she explained that she would need to check what the problem was in the cellar. This is nonsense, visiting the cellar is not going to resurrect an ale. This is pure contempt for customers. I’m always reluctant to give a one star review and The Mitre is a nice pub for a town centre but I think they are taking advantage of their customers and my priority is a nice pint.
The environment, music and layout is really nice to sit back and relax. However saying that, we ordered the Mojito and Long island Ice Tea cocktails and they were terrible. They tasted nothing like they shouldve and basically no Alcohol either so a very expensive soda basically. I recommend just stick to the cider and beers. Get some training and maybe itll get better
Place is great, but I preferred the old decor. Recently been refurbished and more like a restaurant these days. Still well worth a visit.
Favourite pub in all of Greenwich. It’s been recently renovated and is very relaxed. The staff are really nice and the food is very good. They’ve redone the loos which no longer stink either.
Nice, friendly and fast service although the place were super busy. Average London prices... we had a good time there ☺️
Love this pub, its very popular and serves food until 10pm. There are two outdoor beer gardens/smoking areas, which both have heaters, a conservatory with a load of different kinds of clocks on the wall (none of them are the right time though 😄and a private function room for hire. The staff are nice and helpful and the bar has a great range of drinks (lagers, ales, wines and spirits).Highly recommend a visit.
We had a great time. Friendly people and excellent service. Meals were £14 beer £5.60.
Come here to try fish and chips! The portion size is wowstaff is friendly and quick. However, the food took some time, but it totally worth it! Sticky table😬.
Lovely pub and Inn-hotel! The rooms are very spacious and clean. The communication with the hotel prior to the booking was excellent! And the members of staff are amazing 🤩- very polite and kind people who make you feel welcome 🙏🏻. Very tasty and generous breakfast!! Plus Greenwich Park and all the amenities are all in walking distance! All in all 5-star experience - highly recommended!
I went on Sunday, there were options on the online menu that aren’t on the menu in the pub. They used to offer student discount as it used to be written on the wall outside and I saw this on many reviews, I went because of this discount and was disappointed when arriving that they no longer do a discount. The food was nice I’ve had better roasts but also worse, The best parts particularly mentioned were the red wine jus and the gingerbread stuffing. Service was ok, at first no one could find are reserved table and we were told it was booked 45 mins earlier than we had booked it for and told to just look for a table, till another customer mentioned our reservation board on a table so we took our seats. After we had been served our food we found that the service improved and we were better looked after, so it’s possible when we walked in there was more stress on the staff so our experience wasn’t great at first but definitely was much better by the end.
The old English pub is a good place to enjoy on Saturday as they play music and people dance . Outside table to drink and smoke there. Heating arrangement in garden where you can drink. Staff is friendly and ambience is good. Rates of food and drinks are little as compare to other pubs in area. Accept both credit and debit cards. Visible from road. Parking is difficult. Smoke outside in garden.
Nice food and deserts, great atmosphere, nice interior decor, great for families with kids (on weekdaysand for general gathering with peers. It gets really busy on weekends therefore pre booking is advisable, however, it’s extremely quiet on weekdays, at least on the Monday we visited. Can be quite pricey, but for a good meal with the family or special occasion it’s worth it. It’s beautiful with great natural lighting. Sticky toffee desert and chocolate brownie desert both with ice cream are delicious.
A spacious airy pub close to all of the attractions in Greenwich. A wide selection of both keg and Cask beers + a fair wine list. Pleasant helpful staff and an enjoyable atmosphere.
Not the best experience here sadly. Asked staff about dishes for sharing and were given a suggestion. When it came to ordering the Camembert, was told it was not available. Then after ordering, we waited OVER 30mins for two fish and chips and a burger. We even had to wait for our starter of olives. The side of mushy peas for the fish and chips was put into tiny sauce bowl (where you’d put ketchup or bbq sauce etcwhich was minuscule! What kind of SIDE is put into a tiny sauce holder..? After asking about this they only brought another tiny bowl of mushy peas for one person. The meal was sadly nothing special considering the wait and we certainly did not even consider getting desserts and went elsewhere.
Visited 2 October 2018Popped in for a drink but only stayed for one. Pint served with an inch of foam that had disappeared by the time the server returned with the change. Without saying anything their body language indicated it wasnt going to be worth the hassle of asking for a top-up.Large pub which felt a little soulless and the patchwork ceiling takes shabby chic to new levels.Obviously visited on a bad day because for all the beer likes there were only 2 cask ales on and 2 craft on keg and about 7 generic macro lagers.
Nice pub. Regular satisfying food. Has a good style to it and nice seating. A decent courtyard garden with seating area. Would suggest the conservatory in the back gets a clean. Some pretty impressive cobwebs up there!
