The Mezzanine - Cocktail bar in San Juan, Puerto Rico
Wonderful for intimate but casual part of the night. Its atmosphere is a cross between speakeasy and tapas bar. #gatherandchill
The food was fabulous the drinks were great and the rustic atmosphere was very relaxing
Chill little spot with good drinks and tapas. They open the balconies up and its nice to sit in them.
Fun little place where you can hang out have some great drinks and tapas that are to die for. Lots of flavor in the food and drinks. Highly recommend
What a beautiful restaurant, you walk in and it transport you into the 50’s, sit on the balcony to look at the beautiful architecture around. The food and drinks are delicious! We had the carnitas tacos- wow ❤️❤️definitely recommend to take a break from all that walking and get a delicious drink, something small to eat.
This place is a vibe, one of my favorite places in old San Juan. Great cocktails, good food, sit in the balcony, overlooking the streets, always a good time
Delicious tapas offerings and great cocktails. We arrived in San Juan late in the evening hungry and read to start our vacation and this spot was perfect. Kitchen is open late with delicious tacos and ceviche. Great way to feel the history and old town charm of Old San Juan. Great stop for a late night snack or lighter late dinner with a solid cocktail. Ambiance and service were both top notch
Cocktail bar with a very cozy 2nd floor seating area. Drinks are strong but well balanced. It’s not crowded or too loud. Perfect for a relaxing afternoon drink.
Imagine, you’re watching people on the street walk by and judging them from a balcony. No wait you are actually at The Mezzanine enjoying tapas that taste how you want them to. Fresh, warm, melt in your mouth patatas bravas and shrimp with flavors that are sweet, homey, and tangy. You are happy that you came here, the chessboard floor reflects the light brightly, you feel like you are of a different time. It’s cool both in the air flowing and the ambiance. You have drank the best Moscow mule of your life and you have now drank three of them. I would recommend this place.
This place is DISRESPECTFULLY AMAZING. Highly recommend if you can breathe and have a pulse.
Came here Saturday 4:30 and the door was locked. Music was playing, asked when they were open and lady shut the door on us. No customer service. Sign downstairs says they’re open from 2-12am. Clearly not the case.
Drinks were good. Food service however was extremely slow. We waited close to 45 minutes for patatas bravas, which arrived lukewarm… We won’t be coming back.
Used to be my favorite place to go in San Juan. New management waters down drinks & the atmosphere is no longer friendly. New manager is terrible. Customer service isn’t for everyone. Went a couple times, tried to give it the benefit of the doubt, but I won’t return.
The sliders were super dry and overcooked, the drinks were watered down and the bar tender was somewhat rude. The view and the place itself however was nice.
Beautiful place to chill out with friends and have outstanding drinks. The place is just very pleasing to the eye and comfortable. The balcony is great. Had a Margarita fusion drink and a mojito, awesome drinks.
This bar is awesome. Cocktails were so good, staff were lovely. Sit on a little balcony and watch San Juan go by. Tapas dishes are great as well.
Cute space, lots of interesting cocktails. Very mixed clientele with locals & tourists. Wouldve liked some music to drown out some of the other tables conversations and create an ambiance.
Nice place! Delicious cocktails and their fish tacos were amazing
Food is okay. Drinks are okay.Balcony is very nice. Dont come if you are hungry. You will have one small plate ( tapasper hour on the table. I am starving while writing the review!
Quality cocktails and service with a sophisticated ambience. Plus, seating on the balcony is unbeatable at night.
Great drinks, food, and ambiance. Limited seating but was worth the wait. Grab a balcony spot if you can. I believe there were maybe 3 or 4 small outdoor 2-seat spaces. We ordered the tuna tartare which was light and refreshing (would recommend if not very hungry or ordering multiple appsand the Mac and cheese. We went the night before NYE and the music choice was punk rock which was a cool spin on the old feel atmosphere/architecture.
Amazing place with an extensive selection of cocktails. We didnt tried the food, but it looked good. Also, great service.
Went for cocktails and to grab something to eat. While the cocktails have very attractive names and well prepared they did not impress. That day the cook did not came in to work so we miss the opportunity to try something. Vegan options limited to hummus. The staff were nice and courteous making the experience not too bad at the end.
I will be recommending this place to anyone visiting PR. Loved the food. The vibe is so nice. Feels like we were in someones house. So laid back. Cozy balconies to look out at the cobblestone streets. Very quaint!
Very cool aesthetic, the music and decor make for a not fully relaxed atmosphere but also a fast cry from the night club pace a few streets over; a good place to gear up for a night out, or to wind an evening down.Great cocktails, great food, nice view- highly recommended.
Unexpetedly amazing cocktails with fun garnishes in a funky atmosphere. Stumbled upon by chance, but added it as a stop on our next trip to PR.
Excellent tapas spot. Drinks are good. Good is flavorful. Excellent location and prices.
The best place to catch up with good friends. The drinks were all very delicious and Jerry was an absolute delight to have as our server. He was very knowledgeable on what goes in the drinks and the history of the building we were in. I wish I could had a few more nights in PR just so I can keep having their Moscow Mule. The potatoes were my favorite of the tapas.
We ordered mojitos, pizza, pesto Mac and cheese, and the meat balls. All which were good. Our waiter was great and on point with his recommendations. Would definitely return.
Wow! Beautiful place, very romantic setting! Views from the balcony are beautiful! Try to get a table by balcony ! Food is great! Drinks are fantastic and unique! Enjoyed our time here! Also blissful music! Great selection
My wife discovered this place and it is so awesome! Hidden on the second floor with a tiny little neighborhood entrance to the right, this little well kept secret is an absolute must for anyone who wants to enjoy a classical old town San Juan lunch meal. Make sure to get one of the balconies and order the spicy pineapple sticks. The fish tacos are also super special and certainly not something you want to miss out on. The staff is very friendly. This being said, bring some time with you, so that you can enjoy the ambiance and scenery.
Cannot say enough about this cute cocktail bar. We got a balcony seat, a lovely server and some killer drinks! This is a perfect place to watch the streets of old San Juan and sip on some beauties.
First been there in 2019, and now back in 2021 - it’s a pleasant surprise that this places keeps up with its high bar for drinks and food, as well as friendly staff. Next time I’m in VSJ, would definitely stop by. My favorites here are Nice Green, Coquí Coquí, Rum Old Fashioned, as well as Ceviche Griego, Patats Bravas, and Pinchos de Camarones y Piñas.
Delicious unique cocktails, cool environment and architecture.
This restaurant knows how to keep it classy. My wife and I enjoyed an evening on the balcony with almost all the dishes on the menu. The drinks were made to perfection and food was just great! The ceviche was the best I ever had. If I ever visit OSJ, I will come again. Thank you
First restaurant in old San Juan that we tried and we have no idea how the other ones will live up to it! The portions were perfect to the point where we were full but did not need to get to go boxes. The food was so reasonable priced and delicious! The restaurant it’s self was absolutely gorgeous, we loved our table out on the patio where we could see the beautiful architecture San Juan had to offer. Can’t recommend this place enough!
The tapas were SO delicious! Shrimp dish & fish tacos, and surprisingly the gourmet Mac & cheese, were highlights. The ambiance & decor are quirky, unique, political, cozy and interesting. Service excellent. Little balconies give way to a nice view over the street for a great date night out. Highly recommended!
Great drinks and lovely decoration retro.
The food was delicious. If you go during happy hour, a number of the tapas are discounted. The food is well worth the visit as was the cocktails. The staff were all very welcoming. I would definitely come back!
Im definitely coming back to this bar for another try! The vibe of the bar is really chill and the bartenders are friendly. They also have some seating right in the open windows, where you can watch the street activities and goings on. The drinks are really unique and are worth giving a shot!
We took a cab into old San Juan and walked in as the place was opening. We sat at the bar for a drink and the bartender was fantastic. We tried some of their specialty cocktails after watching the bartender make some of their special ginger beer for the San Juan Mule. It was great. Some people joined us at the bar and commented on how good the Tapas we ordered looked. The bartenders recommendations were fantastic. I had the shrimp and my wife had the pork tacos. The other people ordered the tacos and loved them too. I cant wait to go back when our friends arrive at the end of the week.
Great variety of unique cocktails and tapas. Cozy and quiet place. Very comfortable seating. The decoration goes along the history of the building. Historic place. Because of the old architecture of the building it does not provide for wheelchair access to the second floor where the restaurant is located.
Such a quaint, cute, and quiet little spot. The ambiance is very classy and old school and its a tapas bar so definitely order everything off the menu to share. The cocktails were delicious as well.
Outstanding Vibe and good cocktails.Recommend Mimosa which was really good! They do have happy hours from 4-7pm.
Attended Brunch Hours. Service was great. Reasonable prices. I recommend the bottomless drinks for 2 hours, well worth the money. To Eat, try the Bagel Con Salmon. Its a Smoked Salmon on bagel with carrots, sesame seeds drizzled with balsamic vinegar reduction and caper sauce...DELICIOUS!!
This place was such a pleasant surprise! The decor is unique and welcoming and the bar has intimate patio seating that allows you to look out on the street and enjoy a cool breeze. We ordered hummus which was absolutely delicious and my friends ordered meatballs, and ham+cheese bruschetta. The service was quick and the bartender was very helpful and friendly.
Such a quaint little bar with great cocktails and good music! Service is quick and laid back but attentive. The Passion Mojito is a must. The tapas are tasty get a few of sharing.
Beautiful decor, very warm and intimate atmosphere, great drinks and the opportunity to watch the Old San Juan breathe from the balcony. Its also located in a house thats a part of puertorrican history, the first page of the menu will let you know about it. Overall a really good experience! The only complaint I have is that service was a bit slow: we asked for a couple of sandwiches and they took like 40 minutes to get to our table. But they were delicious, so it doesnt matter that much!
Located in the home of a previous Nationalist Party leader, this place is just teeming with history. Tucked away on top of the brunch spot St Germain, my reccomendation would be to skip that wait and come straight up here. Once upstairs the service is professional and what youd expect in a similar place in New York City, sans the pricing. Refer to my attached pictures for food items including black bean hummus, breakfast tacos, and salmon on cucumber slices. The food is just tapas style but again fairly priced and a good sharing size. The ambiance is quiet aand tranquil with a sophisticated vibe. Highly recommended for a Sunday tapas brunch stop while exploring old San Juan.
We had an excellent time at the cocktail bar. The drinks were fantastic, atmosphere very comfortable, and great service from Adolfo. Also, we enjoyed the historical significance of the building.
