The Melting Pot in Philadelphia
Description
Privilege
I just didnt like the food. You couldnt add spices to the meats and I feel like I could have made the meal for a lot cheaper and more tasty at home. Drinks and desert was phenomenal though. For me a 1 and done experience unfortunately 😰
MoreWe have been to many Melting Pot locations and this was well below the standards for what normally is a great experience. Definitely not worth the money we spent last night. The food, meat course specifically, had under seasoned meat and dips (Greek Goddess normally our favorite was lacking to the point that The Melting Pot should be embarrassed). The only good course was the cheese course, which was very good.
MoreMy fiance and I have been coming to the Melting Pot every anniversary for the past seven years and it never disappoints! Tonight was our last anniversary before our wedding in November and let me tell you our server, Alex, made all the difference! So lovely, accommodating and knowledgeable! We will definitely be back. If you are heading in and want incredible experience, ask for Alex!
MoreI took my son here for a mother/son date night. The food was great and our server Edwin was even better! Awesome time
MoreNot my kind of food place at all. What i really didnt like is the false advertisement. We reserved a thursdate, it said just reserve we will do the rest with rose petals and candles. Well Nothing was there but a very tiny cubby. No rose petals or no candles. It should not advertise that if they dont 3ven do that for the customers. The only thing of this 120$ meal for 2 i liked was the chocolate. I would never ever, ever, ever, "oh did i say ever go back to a melting pot again".
MoreThis was our second trip to The Melting Pot. It is becoming our go-to place for celebrations. More than just dinner, you are treated to a multi-hour exploration of foods. Cooking for yourself invites conversation, laughs, and smiles from everyone around the table. In 2022, it’s really nice to have a meal where everyone would rather interact than look at their phones. While it *is* expensive, the experience makes it worth the price.
MoreAlways a great experience. Staff is friendly and attentive. We love our date nights there.
MoreHad a great experience for my anniversary. They made it special it was a Thursdate so they had roses on the table and it was in a cute small cozy spot for me and my fiancé. Our server was great was very helpful and knew his stuff I wish I could remember his name I absolutely loved him. He gave us recommendations since it was our first time there and since we were celebrating our anniversary they gave us complementary champagne it was just a beautiful experience
MoreOMG- the only thing that couldve made this outing even more perfect is if our meal was free (lol)! Kate & her helper Carly were nothing short of amazing. Kate answered every one of our questions, gave awesome suggestions & really made our experience here a great one. I look forward to coming back VERY soon!P.S.- whatever youre paying Kate isnt near enough. She needs a raise for all of her hard work & the good vibes she brings. Even Gordan Ramsay would be blown away! Do whatever you have to do to keep her a part of the team!
MoreMy husband and I had our date night here and it was absolutely amazing! Our waitress Kate was literally the best! She really made it a fine dining experience and the food was absolutely delicious! I would give more stars if I could!
MoreKaitlyn and Steve tonight were absolutely amazing. So helpful and kind and made us feel right at home. The food was also incredible as always. Couldn’t have asked for a better birthday dinner!
MoreDanii, was an amazing waitress! she made our experience top tier and she made sure we were taken care of and comfortable. 10/10
MoreBy far the best place to go for a nice evening. I went with my boyfriend and we had this amazing server Alexander. He was charming and made the experience beyond great. He explained everything to us and even was able to help me with my frozen cream puffs. He explained they probably didnt have time to thaw and gave me new soft ones. I love the atmosphere here and would definitely recommend this place for a new experience!!! Will be coming back here in the future. Thank you so much!
MoreIt was a great experience. Celebrating my granddaughters birthday and her start to college soon. Our waitress and waiter were great.
MoreGot the Bigger Night Out for $120 - bill after drinks was $150, $180 after tip. My wifes wine had some sort of dark flake pour out of the flask into the glass. No big deal, we asked for a new serving. We start with the alpine cheese. My wife said it was too stinky for her, and I thought it was just okay. Different strokes for different folks I guess, and I enjoyed it somewhat. Wish we had asked for cheddar. Salads come out with some mustard-looking dressing on top. Tasted sweet like thousand island and didnt taste like mustard, but my wife wouldnt touch it. We werent asked about dressing choices, and it didnt occur to me while ordering. At this point, my wife didnt want to send the salad back and was just anxious to have the proteins arrive. I had also asked for a coke after my initial beer when the salad arrived, and then again when the meat arrived. I never got that coke. We were advised to choose the skillet with our selections. The skillet arrived WITH the meat, so we didnt have time to heat it. More waiting. The meat was pretty varied in shape and size. It really should be perfect little cubes for the price. Very difficult to cook evenly. Thats another thing - the cast skillet was pretty inconsistent and had hot and cold zones. It came pre-greased, but the salmon stuck right away, and subsequent meats stuck pretty badly. I was maybe 1/3 through the meat and had a sizable pile of burnt ends I had to scrape off the skillet with the provided tongs. The filet was not especially tender at medium. The chicken was decent. Lobster was not properly cut/cleaned from the tail, so it fell apart when transferring to the skillet. The hot plate also spontaneously shut off in the middle of cooking the lobster. I found out maybe 90 seconds later, but it was really disappointing. They also forgot to include any lemon wedges, salt, pepper, these special seasonings I heard about, etc. Maybe I would have enjoyed the filet with a little salt and pepper. We were in a small booth near the hostess stand, and the table was honestly too small for the meal we had. Its a shame, because there were tons of large booths available. The server confirmed with us that wed only have the option for one cook style bc of this (instead of having broth AND the grill skillet). When examining the shrimp, I noticed white discoloration which is typical of frozen/processed shrimp. Unappetizing and I didnt eat it. We were left with the meat for maybe 35-40 minutes before I had to ask a woman I thought was the manager for the check as she was bussing nearby tables. This was before the chocolate round even started. The waiter came back maybe 4-5 mins later and asked about the dessert course, and he allowed us to get chocolate covered strawberries to go instead. The 2nd star is really only because of our server. He had a good demeanor, was friendly, and he (Mark I thinkwas obviously frustrated with the team around him. I wish he had been more involved with fixing the obvious issues with the service tonight. While the place didnt seem busy, he did seem preoccupied with other customers. We still tipped $30 which was exactly 20%. In conclusion, our night without the kids ended up costing $180 plus gas and 2 hours of drive time. I could have spent $40 locally and been much happier. Its sad, because I have fond memories of fondue when I was a kid. I have to imagine the intended experience is not what we received tonight, but I cant afford to gamble again.Edit (8/16/22): This is their solution to me wasting $200(food+gas), 5 hours (x2 people), and arranging to have a babysitter take all 3 of my kids. What would you do? Their reply:"We are so sorry that we did not exceed your expectations on your visit to our restaurant. We always strive to make our customers feel special. Please come back so we can show you what we are really about; thats giving our guests the perfect night out. The Melting Pot in Maple Shade"
MoreMy girlfriend and I came here for our anniversary and it was absolutely wonderful! Our waitress Dani was amazing and made it so special!
MoreIt was my friend and I’s first time at the Melting Pot and our server Mark truly made our experience absolutely exceptional. He was so knowledgeable of the menu, very personable and extremely attentive. He truly went above and beyond to make our first time unforgettable. We loved the ambiance and Marks recommendations were wonderful. He is truly an asset to the Melting Pot team we look forward to coming in again, thanks!
MorePricey but mostly worth it. The cheese and chocolate were great for me and my friend to share. You will leave more full than you think! Staff was very attentive and helpful. Good for a fancy night out.
MoreSuch a fun and delicious experience. Our waitress was the sweetest and explained everything.
MoreEdwin was our server and he went above and beyond serving us. He was charming and informative, even getting us a cute little plate decorated with chocolate to celebrate our reason for visiting The Melting Pot, in our case it was a birthday. Thank you for a great dinner experience Edwin!
MoreI came here for my best friends birthday. This was my first time having fondue. Our experience was wonderful and it met our expectations. The waiter Steve was nice, he explained everything well, and he was very funny. Wonderful service and wonderful food. We got the 4 course dinner. The first course are appetizers that you dip in a pot of hot cheese. There are many delicious cheese options, and we went with the Fisasco. The second course are salads. The third course are different types of meats, potstickers, and fish that are given to you raw, that you cook in a pot of boiling oil, which I thought was really cool. You will be given a chart telling you the cooking times like 1-2 minutes, 3-5 minutes, etc. I recommend you cook your food at the exact maximum cooking time. The last course is dessert. You get different kinds of desserts that you dip in a hot melted chocolate of your choice. We went with the Yin & Yang which is a mixture of dark chocolate and white chocolate. They actually do make it look like a Yin-Yang. It was a wonderful experience, and I recommend everyone to eat at this restaurant, and I would love to come back. Thank you for a wonderful dining experience, Melting Pot.
MoreI went here for my anniversary and it was delicious!! The cheese and chocolate courses are must haves when you come here! Everything is cooked in front of you and explained if you’re new to the melting pot. The store is very nice and clean looking. Also, the service is very friendly and welcoming. (We even got a something special for our anniversary! All in all, it is a fantastic place to eat for a special occasion!
MoreOne of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had! Our waiter, Keegan, was fantastic and had great recommendations. We really enjoyed how interactive the meal was and it turned out delicious! I highly recommend the Melting Pot, especially for a special occasion dinner!
MoreTook my daughter here for her birthday. It is expensive but it is an experience. It costs around 50 dollars per person but it was well worth it. You get a cheese fondue course. You choose from several cheese options. They bring the cheese to your table and you melt it right at your table. They provide several breads, fruits and vegetables to dip in the cheese. You then choose your main course. We got to choose 3 different things. I choose shrimp, steak and mascarpone filled ravioli. You choose the cooking method and then you cook it at the table. Finally comes the chocolate fondue course. You choose your chocolates. Examples include chocolate and carmel, smores, mint and chocolate. They bring the chocolate out and you melt it at your table. They bring things like cake bites, brownies, marshmallows and fruit to dip into the chocolate. We were there for over 3 hours. I very much enjoy the experience. Would strongly recommend it.Update: I went there for my birthday this year and it was every bit as good as before. Its been about 4 years since my first review but the price is about the same. Its now 52.50 but you also get a salad. I would definitely suggest the skillet cooking method. I had shrimp, salmon, chicken and steak as my entree. Still get a cheese fondue and chocolate fondue course as well. I really recommend going at least once. The food is fantastic. The service is even better. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars.
MoreKate was the best waitress! Very professional, attentive, and has a great personality! We would love to have her again. She made our visit an amazing experience. Thank you so much Kate and Melting Pot staff.
MoreTonight was my first time at the melting pot ... We had a great date night! The food was amazing! My only complaint is our waiter. He totally forgot about us a couple times. We were there for over 2hours, he never brought water and completely forgot about my drink! I expected better service.
MoreIt is very clean and the sever was very nice and make great conversation. She also gave us some tips on what we may like based on our preference. The chocolate dip was very smooth and not too sweet
MoreWe celebrated my kids graduation here and we’re very happy we did. The overall experience was superb. The entire staff are very professional and nice..the customer service is to the highest levelour guests includinourselves are very impressed. Will definitely come back. Good Job To the Melting Pot team.
MoreMight seem like a little expensive but its honestly worth it. It was a unique experience eating there. Food was delicious and they have the best customer service! Love this place! We definitely visit again!
MoreWriting this because my wife and her friends are apparently too polite. They dined there and, during dessert, encountered a cockroach in their napkin. Of course panic ensued and the roach ended up on the floor, where the hostess had to get it. Poor waitress was mortified, of course, but apparently the manager stayed in the back for like 10 minutes before coming out. Then, she emerged and gave the patrons a bottle of seasoning for their troubles, haha. I only laugh because I wouldve lost my mind. This location should be glad I wasnt there. Negative a million stars. Disgusting.
MoreBe prepared to drop a few hundred dollars but the food is good and NOT over cooked! Good sausage to great corn! But you come for the seafood! We did garlic butter and Old Bay!!Before and After!!
MoreAbsolutely sublime from start to end. A full dining experience is 4 courses served across three waves: a salad is served with crudites and a cheese fondue for wave 1, wave 2 is meats in a boiling fondue (or a spiced deep fry affair if you feel bold), and the final wave is desserts with a chocolate fondue. If that sounds like a lot, IT IS - most of their combos are "dinner for two," but their portions are sized like youre sneaking a third person in there. (Those of weaker intestinal fortitude can also come in just for cheese and crudites, or just for dessert, etc.Their drink menu isnt particularly deep or vast, but the entries on display are inoffensive at worst - and their hits are delightful. Try the Candyland if its on rotation and you want something sweet, citrusy and deceptively strong. The inexperienced might look at fondue for meat and expect either Pure Cheese or a bland boil. Put that out of your head - the process ends up more like a quick-braise. Their fondue boils impart a startling amount of flavor to the meat, especially with the rapid cook times, and their house sauces are nothing to sneeze at. (The plum sauce genuinely goes good on everything. I could not find something it did not go well on, and I TRIED. It went well on APPLE SLICES.It is a genuinely unique experience that is difficult to replicate at home and well worth trying if for nothing more than the novelty. The portions and the unique selling point does mean there is a sticker shock to contend with. The charcuterie and crudites offering is reasonable for a group lunch or an appetizers-and-drinks night, and the dessert is 100% worth the price of admission; I just wont be getting the Big Night Out except for special occasions. But! If you have an occasion to celebrate, or just want to celebrate your deep pockets with someone special, The Melting Pot gets a full throated recommendation. I just hope your stomach is as deep as your wallet.Bring friends. For your sake.
MoreIts a wonderful place to go for dinner. Its has a great atmosphere and the staff were very pleasant and helpful. The food was amazing, very good and cut to fit on the forks. We had a large party and everyone was satisfied and well taken care of. We had a great time.
MoreHuge restaurant! Love the ambience in here. The food and service were outstanding. The menu offers alot of variety. Love the dessert options too! Definitely a great place to celebrate a special occasion or have a date night!
MoreI went for my birthday 2 months ago and the service and food were amazing. Out of all the Melting Pots Ive been to, this has been my favorite location by far. Our waitress was apparently the owners daughter, which we didnt know originally. When the owner came around, I made sure to remark to him how wonderful we thought our server was. Cackling, he asked if we were family trying to put in a good word for her, to which I of course said no. He then told us that he was kidding because hes her father! Everyone was so friendly, welcoming, and on point for taking care of us. The food was delicious and the waitress happened to overhear our conversation that it was my birthday and took the initiative to bring me out a little birthday surprise with a candle. Really made my night!
MoreI had an amazing first experience at the Melting spot. I went for the first time and the service was amazing. My waiter, Edwin was so great and friendly. He made the experience so much fun and unforgettable. He even went extra and made me a fun dessert for my soccer tournament this weekend.
MoreI really loved the atmosphere. The service was amazing! Excellent customer service 👏🏽. The whole experience was very fun for me with cooking my own food. I would definitely go again!!
MoreHonestly, I wish I could do 10 stars. This location is one of my favorite restaurants therefore Ive celebrated so many special occasions here and they never disappoint. The owner Charlie makes you feel so welcome and he and his staff are constantly on a mission to make sure things are perfect. The best service you could ever ask for. You wont be disappointed. PS-Order Rosemary fries with all your cheese courses. So delicious!
MoreWent here for my friends birthday and it was a unique experience indeed. We got the full course dinner plan which started with cheese fondue assembled by the waitress in front of us. The cheese came with veggies and bread to dip with. We also got our choose of a salad to start things off. Next were our entrees which were a variety bite sized pieces of meats which you can select from. For example, herb chicken, teriyaki steak, etc. I was expecting the pieces to be a bit bigger so keep this in mind. We opted to grill our meat at the table which turned out to be a little less fun than we anticipated because of the cooking time. Another factor to keep in mind. The meat also came with a plate of veggies which was a nice touch. I just wished there were more given to us. The meat/veggies came with a variety of dipping sauces to try. The last part of our meal was chocolate fondue with a variety of fruit and little cakes to dip inside. This was definitely my favorite part! The chocolate was rich and good quality.Overall, this is not the type of place I would go to on a regular but had a pleasant experience. Our waitress definitely made our visit go from potentially mediocre to very pleasant. She was super friendly and held conversations with us as she prepared our cheese smd throughout the rest of our visit. She was also very patient in explaining the different options to us as we were a bit clueless with it being our first time there! Unfortunately I dont remember her name but I know she has a wedding coming up next year and we wish her happiness in her future! A nice touch as well is that the staff brought out a cute little plate with "Happy Birthday" written out in chocolate and a little cake piece with a candle inside it. Our waitress also sung Happy Birthday with us which was a delight! Last thing to note is while this is definitely not the most expensive place, be prepared to spend some money! The experience is about $50 per person and that excludes the drinks. Overall, pleasant experience that was taken to the next level thanks to our awesome waitress!
MoreMy First time going, and I had a wonderful time. The food is so delicious. If you have never been to The Melting Pot... Make your way over there and enjoy some awesome food
MoreIts a unique dining experience. The melted cheeses and desserts are the best part. The main dishes are good. Fun cooking your own food and dipping items in the pots.
MoreOur experience was beyond exceptional! Our waiter went above and beyond for our table of 6! My child even hugged him in the end he was so happy!
MoreThe Melting Pot is literally my favorite restaurant in the whole world, and their food is simply amazing. I got the full four-course meal: cheese fondue, salad, meat/vegetables, and chocolate fondue for desert. The restaurant is clean and modern, the servers are very professional and quite friendly, and each and every single food was absolutely exquisite. I recommend the Wisconsin Cheddar Cheese Fondue, Strawberry Pecan Salad, Sirloin Lovers Meal, and Melting Pots Traditional Chocolate Fondue. A bit pricier than the restaurants I usually go to but it is worth every cent. Make your meal an event to remember at The Melting Pot!
MoreThe big night out was worth every cent! Thr food was amazing and our server was phenomenal. This is a place to go for a nice date night or a girls night out. So tasty! My pics are of the turtle chocolate dessert fondue
MoreIf you’re looking for a chill environment with excellent food with a French Fine Dining Experience this is the place to go. We celebrated my Mother in law’s birthday here and had the four course meal. The cheese fondue was deliciously cheesy with a basil/garlic undertone that added to a savory complexity in flavor with the fruit. For dinner we chose the bourgnion which was delicious. Dessert hands down- the flaming turtle fondue - amazing!Great food for special occasions!
MoreIts a task to fondue all of your food lol. So if you are one of those who just likes to come and eat, this place is not for you. Takes a long time to cook, eat, etc. Fun experience but wont be visiting frequently. Pricey, so get ready to spend some money.
MoreI dont think Ive had as much cheese in the entire year as I did last night with the cheese fondue. This was my first experience but it certainly wont be my last. The cheese and the chocolate was utterly amazing! I could probably do without the entree as long as I had the cheese and the chocolate. Cant wait to go again!
MoreThis was a great experience. Not only was the good delicious but the fondue was amazing. We were able to select from many options what meal we would prefer. Seeing the cheese and broths prepared in front of you was great. So many delectable choices for both the cheese and chocolate fondue. It was interactive and fun. They gave steaks and fresh salads too. Check out the menu. Awesome date night or getting together with friends.
MoreNice environment and nice to go for a date night. For the food you get I felt the price way out of the ball park. It’s fun to cook your own meal and the fondu is good but not worth the value. Would not go again but fun to experience. Staff was great and plenty of parking. When we arrived many open tables but still waited for be seated for over 10 minutes.
MoreWe arrived there about 20 minutes before our reservation of 5:15pm. The waiter we had was training a new girl. The serve was slow this time around which was surprising, since they werent busy customer wise. When was asked for extra things, like soda or extra food, it took a great amount of time to get those things . Even when they took out credit card for payment, seemed like forever .
